And let′s go in-depth on this topic today... Joining us for this conversation is Professor Shin Se-don from Sookmyung Women′s University. Investors seem to be punishing Korean markets since the BOJ′s latest stimulus measures. Should South Korea worry? And TOYOTA Motor has raised its profit forecast for this year... on the back of the weakening Japanese yen. Do you think South Korean automakers will continue to hurt from the weak yen factor? How long do you think it will last? Does this mean the Choi-nomics was not enough... compared to Japan′s stimulus? The Bank of Korea governor recently said that he was closely monitoring Japan′s stimulus program... and said it "came earlier than the market expected." Do you think the weak yen will play a role in the BOK′s monetary decision next Thursday? Thank you.

A video released at the weekend, purportedly by Islamic State militants, demanded the release of a prisoner held in Jordan, in exchange for the Japanese hostage Kenji Goto. TOKYO: A volcano in central Japan erupted on Saturday injuring at least eight people and forced aircraft to divert flying routes to void the billowing ash cloud. The meteorological agency said Mt. Ontake, which straddles Nagano and Gifu prefectures, erupted at around 11:53am (0253 GMT), sending smoke down the mountain's south slope for more than three kms (1.9 miles). The eruption is still taking place, he said. "Airplanes are diverting their flying routes to avoid the ash cloud," said Hasegawa. NHK public broadcaster showed footage of the mountain sending thick, grey smoke into the air. Mt. Ontake is located some 200 km (125 miles) west of Tokyo. No nuclear power plants are located nearby.

Kenji Goto The Islamic State released a video Saturday purportedly showing the beheading of Japanese journalist Kenji Goto and warning the Tokyo government of "carnage wherever your people are found." There was no immediate word on the fate of a second hostage, Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh. The grim video of the apparent beheading of Goto was released via militant websites and bore the symbols of previous Islamic State tapes. It could not be immediately independently confirmed by USA TODAY. SITE Intelligence Group, a U.S.-based organization that monitors terrorist activity online, also reported on video, released late Saturday. The video showed a masked militant clad in black and brandishing a knife while Goto knelt in front of him. "To the Japanese government: You, like your foolish allies in the Satanic coalition, have yet to understand that we, by Allah's grace, are an Islamic Caliphate with authority and power, an entire army thirsty for your blood," the militant said, speaking with a British accent. At one point he addressed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe directly. "Abe, because of your reckless decision to take part in an unwinnable war, this knife will not only slaughter Kenji, but will also carry on and cause carnage wherever your people are found. So let the nightmare for Japan begin." Japan's deputy foreign minister, Yasuhide Nakayama, said late Friday that efforts to free Goto were "in a state of deadlock." An audio message purportedly posted online by the group earlier this week had warned that al-Kaseasbeh would be killed if Sajida al-Rishawi, an al-Qaeda prisoner, was not delivered to the Turkish border by sunset on Thursday, Iraq time. The deadline passed without any public word from the group, also known as ISIS or ISIL, which has taken over large parts of Iraq and Syria. Jordan had offered to release al-Rishawi — on death row over her role in the bombing of an Amman hotel in 2005 that killed 60 people — but insisted first that it receive proof the pilot was still alive. Reports regarding the negotiations with Jordan did not include any mention of Goto. The parents of Goto and al-Kaseasbeh had appealed for their governments to secure their release in recent days. Goto's wife, Rinko Jogo, said late Thursday she had exchanged several e-mails with her husband's captors, and that in the past 20 hours she had gotten one that appeared to be their final demand. She urged the Japanese and Jordanian governments to complete the exchange that would free both hostages. "I beg the Jordanian and Japanese governments to understand that the fates of both men are in their hands," she said. USA TODAY Islamic State seeks legitimacy in prisoner swap Any exchange would have run counter to Jordan's hard-line approach toward Islamic militants that, like it's U.S. ally, has included a refusal to negotiate with extremists. A swap would also set a precedent for negotiating with a militant group that previously has not publicly demanded prisoner releases. Goto was shown in an Islamic State video last week holding a photo that purported to show the body of another Japanese hostage, Haruna Yukawa. The militant group initially sought a $200 million ransom for Goto's release, but later changed their demands to seek the release of al-Rishawi. Contributing: Associated Press

Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL) (日本航空株式会社 Nihon Kōkū Kabushiki-gaisha), is an airline headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan. It is the flag carrier of Japan and its main hubs are Tokyo's Narita International Airport and Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport), as well as Osaka's Kansai International Airport and Osaka International Airport. The airline and three of its subsidiaries (J-Air, JAL Express, and Japan Transocean Air) are members of the Oneworld airline alliance. JAL group companies include Japan Airlines for international and domestic services; JAL Express for international and domestic low-cost services; J-Air, Japan Air Commuter, Japan Transocean Air and Ryukyu Air Commuter for domestic feeder services; and JAL Cargo for cargo and mail services. JAL group operations include scheduled and non-scheduled international and domestic passenger and cargo services to 220 destinations in 35 countries worldwide, including codeshares. The group has a fleet of 279 aircraft. In the fiscal year ended 31 March 2009, the airline group carried over 52 million passengers and over 1.1 million tons of cargo and mail. JAL was established in 1951 and became the national airline of Japan in 1953. After over three decades of service and expansion, the airline was fully privatized in 1987. In 2002, the airline merged with Japan Air System, Japan's third-largest airline and became the sixth largest airline in the world by passengers carried. Japan Airlines is currently an official sponsor of Japan Football Association, Japan national football team, Shimizu S-Pulse and Consadole Sapporo. The second largest in Japan, All Nippon Airways, is Japan Airlines' main rival with fierce competition between the two airlines. The 767-300, the first stretched version of the aircraft, entered service with Japan Airlines in 1986. The type features a 21.1-foot (6.43 m) fuselage extension over the 767-200, achieved by additional sections inserted before and after the wings, for an overall length of 180.25 feet (54.9 m). Reflecting the growth potential built into the original 767 design, the wings, engines, and most systems were largely unchanged on the 767-300. An optional mid-cabin exit door is positioned ahead of the wings on the left, while more powerful Pratt & Whitney PW4000 and Rolls-Royce RB211 engines later became available. The 767-300's increased capacity has been used on high-density routes within Asia and Europe. Deliveries for the type totaled 104 aircraft with no unfilled orders remaining. As of July 2013, 59 of the variant were in airline service. The type's main competitor was the Airbus A300.

There are JETs from all over the world here and it's just important to find someone you can connect with. But beware of clinging to people. I see sometimes that JETs will come in together and then never leave each others side. Don't do that! You have to branch out and be independant. Don't cling to what you are familiar with so tightly that you let opportunities pass you by. There are quite a few ALTs that all they do is hang out with each other.

Japan Travel: Yudanaka Onsen get relaxed & good for health, Nagano, Japan Subscribe link : http://bit.ly/1A72rl5 Moopon : https://moopon.co.jp 【★023★Nagano Yamanouchi Yudanaka Onsen】 Yudanaka Onsen has a long history as a hot spring resort, dating back hundreds of years like the nearby Shibu Onsen. However, Yudanaka has seen some renovation, giving it a more modern feel to it. There is more historic atomosphere as one walks upwards from the bottom of the gently sloping town, where the Yudanaka train station is located. Yudanaka Station is the last stop of the Nagaden Nagano Line, so people traveling by train will first arrive in Yudanaka before exploring the rest of the Yamanouchi area. “Kaede no Yu” public bath is right inside the station, allowing visitors to start enjoying the area's hot spring water immediately upon arrival. There is a free footbath located just outside the station for travelers who want to start with tasting the hot spring water. Access info. Yudanaka Onsen is the main entrance to the Yamanouchi area. It is the final stop of the Nagaden Nagano Line from Nagano Station (70 minutes, 1160 yen by local train or 50 minutes, 1260 yen by limited express). Information on “Kaede no Yu” Hours: 10:00 to 21:00 (entry until 20:30) Closed: The first Tuesday of each month (or following day if Tuesday is a national holiday) Admission: 300 yen

Japan Tourism & Vacations 2015, Japan Trip 2015 Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Japan, known as Nihon or Nippon (日本) in Japanese, is a nation of islands in East Asia See in Japan ============ Castles ------------ When most Westerners think of castles, they naturally think of their own in places like England and France however, Japan, too, was a nation of castle-builders. In its feudal days, you could find multiple castles in nearly every prefecture. Original Castles ------------------------ Because of bombings in WWII, fires, edicts to tear down castles, etc. only twelve of Japan's castles are considered to be originals, which have donjons that date back to the days when they were still used. Four of them are located on the island of Shikoku, two just north in the Chugoku region, two in Kansai, three in the Chubu region, and one in the northern Tohoku region. There are no original castles in Kyushu, Kanto, Hokkaido, or Okinawa. Gardens --------------- Japan is famous for its gardens, known for its unique aesthestics both in landscape gardens and Zen rock/sand gardens. The nation has designated an official "Top Three Gardens", based on their beauty, size, authenticity (gardens that have not been drastically altered), and historical significance. Those gardens are Kairakuen in Mito, Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and Korakuen in Okayama. The largest garden, and the favorite of many travellers, is actually Ritsurin Park in Takamatsu. Rock and sand gardens can typically be found in temples, specifically those of Zen Buddhism. The most famous of these is Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto, but such temples can be found throughout Japan. Moss gardens are also popular in Japan and Koke-dera, also in Kyoto, has one of the nation's best. Reservations are required to visit just so that they can ensure the moss is always flourishing and not trampled. Spiritual Sites --------------------- Regardless of your travel interests, it's difficult to visit Japan without at least seeing a few shrines and temples. Buddhist and Shinto sites are the most common, although there are some noteworthy spiritual sites of other religions, as well. Buddhist --------------- Buddhism has had a profound impact on Japan ever since it was introduced in the 6th century. Like shrines, temples can be found in every city, and many different sects exist. Horyuji Temple in Horyuji, just south of Nara, is the world's oldest wooden structure. The beautiful Phoenix Hall in Uji is seen by most visitors to Japan on the back of the ten yen coin, if not in real-life. Shinto ---------------- Shintoism is the "native" religion of Japan, so those looking to experience things that are "wholly Japanese" should particularly enjoy them as they truly embody the Japanese aesthetic. The holiest Shinto Shrine is the Grand Ise Shrine, while the second holiest is Izumo Shrine, where the gods gather annually for a meeting. Other famous holy shrines include Itsukushima Shrine' in Miyajima, Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, the Kumano Sanzan, and the Dewa Sanzan. Kyoto also has many important historic shrines, such as Shimogamo Shrine, Kamigamo Shrine, and Fushimi Inari Shrine. Do in Japan ========== Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossoms Spots Climb the 3776 meter Mount Fuji, an icon of Japan. Take a walk amidst thousands of cherry blossoms in Yoshino Ascend Mount Aso to see one of the world's largest calderas Visit the snowy peaks of the country's largest national park, Daisetsuzan. Climb the 2446 stone stops of the holy Haguro mountain through an amazing primeval forest. Soak in the hot springs of Japan's Onsen Capital, Beppu. Go River rafting in some of the last wild rivers in Japan in the Iya Valley Ski the world famous powder of Hokkaido or in the Japan Alps. Overnight in one of the holy temples of Mount Koya.

Akihabara, also called as Akiba, was an electric town when I was a kid. I remember that in those days my grandma called the town not Akihabara, but Akibahara. I didn't know the town was once called by a different name and I was like: 'Hey, grandma! Not Akibahara but Akihabara!'. Come to think of it, 秋葉原 (Akihabara in Kanji) can be pronounced in both ways, Akihabara and Akibahara. But I've digressed. People used to visit there to get electronic parts, audio components, or home appliances at that time. It is still the largest electric town in Japan, but it is now more well-known as an "otaku town" and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tokyo. You can find everything about anime, manga, games and other "otaku" things there. Even if you are not interested in them, it could be still fun to feel the Akiba atmosphere and get electronic equipment at a reasonable price. - Shot in 1080p full HD with an iPhone 4S on Apr. 29th, 2012

http://www.expedia.com/Tokyo-and-vicinity.d179900.Destination-Travel-Guides Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is one of the most exciting megacities on the planet. The city is a spectacular matrix of villages, towns and cities, strung together by a super-efficient rail system. Tradition, ritual and respect are the hallmarks of Japanese society. This is a place that cherishes its children, reveres its elderly, and treats visitors like honored guests. Begin your Tokyo journey in the ancient town of Asakusa, home to the city’s oldest temple, Sensoji. Then head to the suburb of Harajuku, renowned as a center of youth culture and fashion and home to one of Tokyo’s largest green spaces, Yoyogi Park. Just to the north of Yoyogi Park, is Meiji Shrine, dedicated to the father of modern Japan, Emperor Meji. At Shibuya, cross one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world, and at Ginza explore huge department stores and tiny yakitori joints and beer halls around Yurakucho Station. Stroll down Marunouchi’s wide tree-lined avenues, then explore the anime, manga, electronics stores in Akihabara Electric Town. Relax in Shinjuku Gyoen National Gardens, then ride the elevator to the observatories of Tokyo Tower and Mori Tower for views across Tokyo Bay and to Mt Fuji. Tokyo is filled with award-winning restaurants, but for the freshest sushi and sashimi, head to the Tsukiji Fish Markets. The historic port city of Yokohama is only a half hour train ride from central Tokyo. Another great day trip is Narita, a fascinating window into old Japan.
✈Tokyo, Japan ►Vacation Travel Guide
So now you are in Tokyo and you don't want to spend the day going from a place to another in a dark subway, right? So here there is my recommendation, an awesome tour of 5 of the best places in Tokyo, all at a walking distance! Obviously there are more than 5 things to do in Tokyo and each person has their own favorite places to visit. That being said, if you are a first timer in Japan, I recommend you spend half a day to do this tour. SERIOUSLY. Do this and you'll save a lot of time. Unless you want to see Sumo or the fish market, but if you are around my age, you will love this tour. You see the beautiful Japanese Meiji Shrine, see the crazy young Takeshitadori, the cool&hip; Harajuku Cat Street, get lost in Shibuya crossing, walk through the insane Center Street in Shibuya, and check out a really cool shop in Shibuya called LOFT for some shopping. Not to mention one of the best beers/ales in Tokyo and tons of shops on the way. 1) Meiji Jingu - https://www.google.com/maps/preview?q=meiji+jingu&ie;=UTF-8&ei;=clUSVJ2wDNbh8AWho4HgBA&ved;=0CAcQ_AUoAg 2) Takeshita Street - https://www.google.com/maps/place/Takeshita+Street/@35.6709203,139.7032242,18z/data=!4m5!1m2!2m1!1stakeshita+street+omotesando!3m1!1s0x0:0x1ea96e04223979bd 3) Harajuku Gyoza (Dumpling) - https://www.google.com/maps/search/gyoza+omotesando/@35.6675326,139.7060823,21z 4) Cat Street/Smokehouse - https://www.google.com/maps/place/SMOKEHOUSE+%E3%82%B9%E3%83%A2%E3%83%BC%E3%82%AF%E3%83%8F%E3%82%A6%E3%82%B9/@35.665532,139.704817,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x60188ca69a302d09:0x22f2979e65ea0099 5) Shibuya Crossing/Loft - https://www.google.com/maps/place/Loft/@35.661078,139.699496,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x60188ca85add52bf:0xc942f69271e3b8b4 When you are done with the tour you can easily walk to Yoyogi Koen and check out the park. チャンネル登録してね♥︎ TOKYO ADVENTURES! ★My new site with all my videos and Japan travel tips and guides. http://www.letsgojapan.com ★ 日本語の動画プレイリストだよ /Playlist of my Japanese Videos https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC9BAC875090D4BA9 ★ RAW TOKYO STRET VLOG /俺のRAWな東京ストリートTVチャンネル http://www.youtube.com/TokyoStreetTV ★ FACEBOOK PAGE/フェイスブック https://www.facebook.com/streetenglishtv ★ INSTAGRAM/インスタグラム/ http://instagram.com/streetenglishtv ★ TWITTER/ ツイッター http://twitter.com/chrisgen TOKYO ADVENTURES! -------------------------------------------------------------

Kyoto, Japan Travel Guide 2015 - Tourism & Vacations in Kyoto, Japan - Kyoto, Japan Trip 2015 Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Kyōto (京都) was the capital of Japan for over a millennium, and carries a reputation as its most beautiful city. However, visitors may be surprised by how much work they will have to do to see Kyoto's beautiful side. Most first impressions of the city will be of the urban sprawl of central Kyoto, around the ultra-modern glass-and-steel train station, which is itself an example of a city steeped in tradition colliding with the modern world. Nonetheless, the persistent visitor will soon discover Kyoto's hidden beauty in the temples and parks which ring the city center, and find that the city has much more to offer than immediately meets the eye. See in Kyoto, Japan ================= Kyoto offers an incredible number of attractions for tourists, and visitors will probably need to plan an itinerary in advance in order to visit as many as possible. Japan National Tourist Organization's self-guided "Kyoto Walks" pamphlet is available in a ready to print PDF format here[12]. The guide enables first time visitors to tour the city with ease and with minimum fuss by providing bus numbers, names of bus stops and clearly marked walking routes. There are a variety of self-guided walks in different districts to sample Kyoto's various sites. If you see the browser's dialog box popping up, just click on it till the entire PDF document opens. World Heritage Sites In 1994, 17 historic sites were inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List under the group designation Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto. Fourteen of the listed sites are in Kyoto itself, two are in the neighbouring city of Uji and one is in Ōtsu. Listed by location, the fourteen World Heritage Sites in the city of Kyoto are: Northern Kyoto: Kinkaku-ji, Ryōan-ji, Ninna-ji, Kōzan-ji, Shimogamo Shrine, Kamigamo Shrine Central Kyoto: Nijō Castle, Nishi Hongan-ji, Tō-ji Eastern Kyoto: Kiyomizu-dera, Ginkaku-ji Western Kyoto: Tenryū-ji, Koke-dera Southern Kyoto: Daigo-ji Imperial Palaces and Villas Stroll through the regal retreats of the Imperial Palace or one of the two Imperial villas with gardens and teahouses managed by the Imperial Household Agency. These are the Imperial Palace (京都御所 Kyōto-gosho) and Sentō Imperial Palace (仙洞御所 Sentō-gosho) in Central Kyoto, Katsura Imperial Villa (桂離宮 Katsura-rikyū) in Western Kyoto, and Shugakuin Imperial Villa (修学院離宮 Shugaku-in-rikyū) in Northern Kyoto. All four of these sites are open to the public by reservation through the Imperial Household Agency. The gardens located within the precints of each palace and villa are at their most scenic during spring cherry blossom season and autumn where a riot of colors enchant visitors. Each property is still used from time to time for official state functions or for private visits by the current royal family members. The Imperial Household Agency maintains a quota on the number of visitors to each site per tour. Admission is free. English guides are available at the Imperial Palace; however, tours of the Sento Imperial Palace, Katsura Villa, and Shugakuin Villa are conducted in Japanese only (English pamphlets are given at each destination upon entry and books are available for purchase if you'd like to know more). Overseas visitors can apply online to the Imperial Household Agency in English here [13]. On its website are write ups and videos in English for interested visitors to gauge which ones they would like to visit before making an online application. Please note that advanced applications first become available on the first day of the month, three months in advance of the applicant's preferred touring month. For example, if your preferred date of visit falls in the month of April, you can begin applying on January 1. As these visits are over subscribed by the Japanese and overseas visitors, the Imperial Household Agency has to draw lots to pick the successful applicants. All applicants are notified on the status of their applications whether they are successful or otherwise within a week after closing date. Most applicants to the Imperial Palace are accepted, and early reservation is not usually necessary; however, those planning to visit the Sentō Imperial Palace, or either of the Imperial Villas should apply on the first available day of application as they are highly competitive and entire months of tours often become full within the first few days. Winter tours are typically much less competitive, but be aware that the gardens will not be as beautiful as other times of the year.

Take a tour of Top 10 Travel Attractions of Kyoto, Japan - part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats. Hey, this is your travel host, Naomi. I would like to give you a tour of the top ten attractions of Kyoto, Japan. Number ten, Gion District. A wonderful traditional neighborhood in the city of Kyoto, during your time here you are likely to see geishas in their traditional attire. Number nine, Bamboo Grove. Unlike any other place you are going to see. Walking through the bamboo grove, you are in a different world, surrounded by the tall bamboo trees. Number eight, Heian Shrine. This Shinto shrine was constructed in 1895 and commemorates Kyoto's past emperors. These days, it's a site for many local festivals. Number seven, Kinkaku-ji. Kyoto has numerous cultural sites. Kinkaku-ji, the Buddhist temple of the golden pavilion, is among Kyoto's 17 World Cultural Heritage sites. Number six, Kiyomizu. Another famous temple of Kyoto built all the way back in the 8th century. Locals enjoy the surrounding natural landscape that changes throughout the year. Number five, Fushimi Inari Shrine. Walking through the striking shrine gates, you are transported into another world. Many tradespeople come here to pray for prosperity of their businesses. Number four, local culture. In Japan, even the simple day to day things are fascinating. You'll find the local way of life is spiritual as well as one that's harmonious with nature. Number three, Ginkaku-ji, the temple was constructed in the 15th century. Japanese architecture melds nature with buildings beautifully, and you clearly see that in this temple's gardens. Number two, Nijo Castle. A large complex built in the early 17th century. You can take the inside tour and witness its fortress-like features, along with its emphasis on harmony with nature. And number one, cherry blossom. Kyoto is one of the world's most beautiful cities. A perfect time to visit this city is during the cherry blossoms, when its great cultural attractions look even more stunning. Keep watching our travel series. Ciao.

Japan Travel Video Guide: The "Land of the Rising Sun" is a country where the past meets the future. Japanese culture stretches back millennia, yet has also adopted (and created) the latest modern fashions and trends. Japan is a study in contrasts and contradictions. Many Japanese corporations dominate their industries, yet if you read the financial news it seems like Japan is practically bankrupt. Cities are as modern and high tech as anywhere else, but tumbledown wooden shacks can still be spotted next to glass fronted designer condominiums. On an average subway ride, you might see childishly cute character toys and incredibly violent pornography - sometimes enjoyed by the same passenger, at the same time! Japan has beautiful temples and gardens which are often surrounded by garish signs and ugly buildings. In the middle of a modern skyscraper you might discover a sliding wooden door which leads to a traditional chamber with tatami mats, calligraphy, and tea ceremony. These juxtapositions mean you may often be surprised and rarely bored by your travels in Japan. Although Japan has often been seen in the West as a land combining tradition and modernity, and juxtapositions definitely exist, part of this idea is obsolete, and is a product of Japan being the first major Asian power to modernize as well as Western patronization and heavy promotion by the travel industry. Keep in mind that continued demolition of some of Japan's historic landmarks goes on apace, as with the famed Kabuki-za Theater demolition. Still, with the proper planning, and with expectations held in check, a trip to Japan can be incredibly enjoyable and definitely worthwhile. Ready to go? Enjoy your Japan Travel Video Guide! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_nfcX0ubr8

Japan has more people over the age of 65 and the smallest number of people under the age of 15 in the world. It has the fastest negative population growth in the world, and that's because hardly anyone is having babies. In these difficult times, the Japanese are putting marriage and families on the back burner and seeking recreational love and affection as a form of cheap escape with no strings attached. We sent Ryan Duffy to investigate this phenomenon, which led him to Tokyo's cuddle cafes and Yakuza-sponsored prostitution rings. Subscribe to Journeyman for more: http://www.youtube.com/journeymanpictures For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=67659 As tensions with China continue to escalate, Japan is ramping up the role of its military as a deterrent power. But many are worried this aggressive posture will lead to a repeat of the mistakes of the past. "As I don't know the purpose and intention of unidentified aircraft approaching our air space, I always become tense", says Sho Yoshida, a fighter pilot with Japan's Self Defence Forces. This unified military outfit was formed following the Allied occupation of Japan at the end of WW2, and is constitutionally restricted to defending the nation. But now a heightening feud with China over the disputed Senkaku Islands, as well as the country's proximity to a wildly unpredictable North Korea, has led Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to reinterpret the legal framework that governs the SDF, with a view to transforming it into a force equipped for offensive operations. "Unless it has the power to strike, it cannot become a so-called 'deterrent power'", explains retired general Toshio Tamogami. And after a number of well-funded recruitment campaigns, enrolments at Japan's elite military college are at a record high. But not everyone here support the moves. "Japan has not really reflected on its past", bemoans Tadmasa Iwaii, a WW2 veteran and former Kamikaze-turned-pacifist. "It hurts my conscience." After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently.

Japan is a global motor vehicle superpower, and about 40% of the cars on its own roads are K-cars. Technically one size down from compact cars, K-cars are trim, economical vehicles that still manage to be stylish and loaded with features. The first four-seat K-cars, selling at affordable prices, shattered the image that cars were only for the rich. Today there are K-cars that are roadsters, and even K-car camper vans. On this edition of BEGIN Japanology, our theme is K-cars. For more please visit NHK World.

The world sees the Japanese as workaholics. Believe it or not, Japan has the most public holidays in the industrialized world. But it is also true that Japanese workers take fewer than half their allotted paid days off. Before the late 19th century, Japan had no weekly day of rest and virtually no extended holidays. Modern Japanese people have tended to prefer quick holidays, but recently, slower, longer holidays are becoming more common. For example, stay on a farm and help with the chores in exchange for room and board. If all Japanese people took all their days off, it would greatly boost the economy - at least that's one idea behind efforts encouraging people to take more time off. On this edition of BEGIN Japanology, our theme is holidays. By looking at attitudes toward holidays, we'll examine various aspects of the Japanese way of life. For more please visit NHK World.

Japan Trip: Precious Japan's Antiques at the Kishu Museum, Wakayama 10 Shirahama, a well-known onsen (hot spring) resort in Wakayama Prefecture, has a lot to offer its visitors. Being one of the “top three” onsen resorts (the other two famous onsen resorts are Atami on the Izu Peninsula and Beppu in Kyushu), Shirahama attracts many visitors. Being only 100 kilometers south of Osaka, it is safe to say many of its visitors are from Osaka. But onsen (hot spring) is not the only thing Shirahama has to offer. The name Shirahama literally means “white beach”. This is due to the 500 meter long sandy, white-white sand beach. With the hotels located a few feet from the beach, visitors can enjoy the easy access to the warm waters on the white sand. In the summer time, there are nightly fireworks. In addition to water related attractions, Shirahama has a cultural side as well. Visitors interested in Japanese art are strongly recommended to visit the Kishu Museum. The museum displays collections of Japanese art works such as ceramics and ukiyo-e (woodblock prints). Works by the famous ukiyo-e artists Eishousai Chouki as well as Andou Hiroshige can be seen here. Tea ceremony articles as well as pottery and porcelain from the Edo Period are also displayed at this museum. Japan Trip: the Treasures from the Sea at Katsuura, Wakayama 09 Visitors to Katsuura, a town on the southeastern coast of the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama Prefecture, will be in for treat. This town is best known for its onsen (hot springs) and its fishing industry. As an onsen resort town along the sea, Katsuura is characterized by several hotels dotting the coastline. The onsen hotels house restaurants, shops, numerous onsen baths, karaoke establishments as well as bars, izakaya, and so much more. There are several walking trails as well as places to explore. Of the many onsen hotels, the Urashima Hotel and Nakanoshima Hotel are especially famous for their unique baths. Both hotels can only be accessed via boats and have unique baths. Urashima Hotel owns the Bokido Bath, a bath inside a cave. Nakanoshima Hotel is located on its own private island. Nakanoshima Hotel’s outdoor baths have the most spectacular views of the sea and coast. Visitors not spending the night at the hotel can experience both baths, as both hotels allow non-staying guests to use the baths for a small fee. Being on the coast, it is only appropriate that the Katsuura has a large stake in the fishing industry. However, visitors may be pleased to know, Katsuura’s main fish is the tuna, with the town hosting an impressive, early morning fish market that showcases this catch. Large tuna are auctioned off in a manner similar to Tsukiji market in Tokyo. However, please note, Katsuura's fish market is much smaller than Tokyo. Katsuura and the Kii Peninsula are also known for their whaling culture. Visitor may wish to go to nearby Taiji, where there is a whale museum. The museum displays information on whales as well as whale hunt from both historical and modern points of view. Whale meat can be purchased in the museum gift shop as well in the local restaurants. Vending machines are all over Japan. If there is not a vending machine within eyesight, then you are not in Japan (a bit of an exaggeration to illustrate a point). One can find any assortment of products available in the vending machines. Vending machines dispensing adult beverages (beer) require placing a government identification card to determine legal age. Upon placing a Texas driver’s license, the purchase was rejected. Apparently the machine only recognizes Japanese government identification cards. This may cause non-Japanese to hurl an accusation of the Japanese not being friendly to foreigners. Hooey!!! The last thing Japan needs is drunken foreigners. While walking a street in Dotonbori in Osaka, Japan, our group was intruded by a drunken foreigner. We knew the inebriated man was a foreigner because he kept repeated over and over, “I’m from Sweden.” He was an annoyance beyond recognition. I made many trips to Japan and traveled extensively throughout the nation. Attended many luncheons, dinners where sake freely flowed. Never once did I encounter a drunk Japanese. However the only drunk in these many trips was that one foreigner from Sweden. Apparently, this is newly found video of the tsunami in Japan. There is some great video taken at ground level showing the water surge rushing around the corner and quickly filling the street.
On Friday 11 March 2011, an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale triggered a tsunami that devastated parts of coastal Japan. Japan's Tsunami: How It Happened investigates the science behind the earthquake and tsunami. The programme follows Professor of Geological Sciences Roger Bilham - who arrived in Japan days after the earthquake struck - as he sets off to view the devastation from the air. The earthquake moved Japan 12 feet closer to the USA. The earth was knocked off its axis and the rate of the earth's rotation was changed. This was one of the biggest earthquakes ever measured; the ground along the east side of Japan dropped by almost 10 feet, making the tsunami catastrophic. The documentary also follows renowned journalist Callum Macrae as he travels to the north, where the towns of Sendai and Ofunato used to be bustling fishing villages. Here he views the destruction first hand and meets the locals struggling to cope in the aftermath. Japan lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire where the Pacific Ocean plates meet the land. The ocean floor dives beneath the volcanic chain of islands that make up Japan. And when the tension builds up between the two plates the energy is released as a massive earthquake. The programme provides the science and analysis to explain why this happened where it did, and why it was so devastating, hearing from the scientists at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii who tracked the deadly wave as it raced across the pacific, and scientists at the Tsunami research facility in Oregon who study the dynamics of earthquake-generated Tsunamis. As Japan is lives with the consequences of this terrible force of nature, the film reveals how it has changed the country forever.

The Japan News 2015-03-21Japan i/dʒəˈpæn/ (Japanese: 日本 Nihon or Nippon; formally 日本国 Nippon-koku or Nihon-koku, literally the State of Japan) is an island nation in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of the Sea of Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south. The characters that make up Japan's name mean "sun-origin", which is why Japan is sometimes referred to as the "Land of the Rising Sun".
Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands. The four largest islands are Honshū, Hokkaidō, Kyūshū and Shikoku, together accounting for ninety-seven percent of Japan's land area. Japan has the world's tenth-largest population, with over 127 million people. The Greater Tokyo Area, which includes the de facto capital city of Tokyo and several surrounding prefectures, is the largest metropolitan area in the world, with over 30 million residents.
Archaeological research indicates that people lived in Japan as early as the Upper Paleolithic period. The first written mention of Japan is in Chinese history texts from the 1st century AD. Influence from other nations followed by long periods of isolation has characterized Japan's history. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, victory in the First Sino-Japanese War, the Russo-Japanese War and World War I allowed Japan to expand its empire during a period of increasing militarism. The Second Sino-Japanese War of 1937 expanded into part of World War II in 1941, which came to an end in 1945 following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Since adopting its revised constitution in 1947, Japan has maintained a unitary constitutional monarchy with an emperor and an elected parliament called the Diet.
Don't tell me not to live Just sit and putter Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter Don't bring around a cloud 'round To rain on my parade
Don't tell me not to fly I've simply got to If someone takes a spill It's me not you Who told you you're allowed To rain on my parade
I'll march my band out And I'll beat my drum And if I'm spammed out Your turn at bat sir At least I didn't fake it Hat sir Nearly didn't make it
Maybe I'm just a rose of sheer perfection A freckle on the nose of life's complexion A cinder of a shiny apple of it's eye
I've gotta fly once I gotta try once Only can die once Right, sir? Love is juicy, juicy and I'll say I gotta have my bite, sir!
Well, look out love oh babe I'm coming Don't tell me not to march My heart's a drummer Who told you you're allowed To rain on my parade
I'm gonna live and live now Get what I want, I know how One roll for the whole shebang One throw that bell will go clang High on the target and wham One shot, one gunshot and bam!
Don't tell me not to live Just sit and putter Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter Don't bring around a cloud To rain on my parade
The sidewalk's trading love
As subway lights grow brighter
We're just another hype
But the pressure's getting harder
Get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
A lovers' etiquette
Make love on first impression
And adolescent sex with juvenile intentions
Get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Well, the lady buys a thrill
Excitement in succession
But a heartache won't partake
In articulate obsession
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Oh yeah!
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Oh, well, pretty things at rest
No courtesy surprising
For love is heaven blessed
All catastrophies denying
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Aw, when you're out on the street
With your lovers infections
Counting possibilities by elimination
And your body's still damp
From your one-room apartment
And your heartache remains, when
Love's not the antidote
You'll submerge again
Emerge again
Just get off the street!
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Just keep on dancing
Whatever gets you through the night
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
Take it much higher
Get on up, get on up, get on up
I never wanted to be on my own
I could be wrong
But I slipped away from home
And now I'm gone
Well, way down south
They're haveing minor ups and downs
But they are moving on ahead
In leaps and bounds
Why, boy, they're playing our song
Outside where no-one can hear
Why, boy, they're playing our song
At the start of my new career
Well it's a different walk of life
That I've come to know
Because at every port of call comes a time to go
Well they say down south
The sun won't set on my home town
It's just driving in this heat
That gets me down
Why, boy, they're playing our song
Outside where no-one can hear
Why, boy, they're playing our song
At the start of my new career
I could never hurt anyone
Least of all you
Why, boy, they're playing our song
Outside where no-one can hear
Why, boy, they're playing our song
I hear a voice I hear a sound
But nothing plays on my mind
I take the car I travel round
But nothing stays on my mind
What do you do when things go wrong?
I'm winning
In the heart of the bushland
What do you do when things go wrong?
I'm winning
In the heart of the bushland
But now I'm scared
Now I'm lost in love
All these things were never done
Your burning bridge my talking drum
Big shiny jet plane in the sky
Please drop us off as we go by
We're an American band
And everything is rockin' out of control
When we hit Japan
Faxes from the veiwers on tv
Karioke hokey-pokey on the screen
Dig my toes into the Pacific sand
And everything is rockin' out of control
When we hit Japan
Yeah, 20 tonnes of Sushi-lovin' fun
(Yum yum)
The kiddy line will thank you one by one
(Arigato)
Please come out to see us when we land
And everything is rockin' out of control
When we hit Japan
Yeah, hi ya!
Well it's been a long time
How should I feel?
What can I say?
With fantastic stories
You present yourself
In different ways
Some particular places
Remembered so well
Are hard to forget
We've travelled so far now
Then we were so young
Hard to impress
But she comes and goes
The other side of life
Sheltering only
The other side of life
These singular occasions
We seem to share
Stumble and fall
If you could remember
Once I was young
Once I was smart
Now I'm living on the edge of my nerves
The things we said weren't quite so tough
When we were young
Well I'm burning
I'm burning buildings
I'm building... this time
For the art of parties
Under heavy weather
The art of parties
I'm burning... burning
I'm living
I'm living my life
I'm living
This time
The wind blew through my hair
Once I was young
I'd shelter from the sun
Once I was smart
We lived on the strength of our nerves
When we were young
Well I'm burning
I'm burning buildings
Below the city's hustle begins
Expression lost in suburban winds
Don't waste my time, the way you do, yeah
My heart on Main Street, my love for you
Take your turn on the love carousel
Your time will come and I wish you well
'Cos you've got love
Got a whole lot more
If you've got what I've been searching for
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Cannot take me, take me much higher
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Cannot push me, push me much higher
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Cannot take me, take me much higher
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Cannot push me, push me much higher
Slow down, babe, a love can't wait
When time comes for you, you can't be late
With burning love, the whole night through
What I do babe, I do for you
So let the wind come rushing in
Feel a soul sensation begin
'Cos you've got love
Got a whole lot more, yeah
And you've got what I've been searching for, yeah baby!
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Cannot take me, take me much higher
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Cannot push me, push me much higher
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Cannot take me, take me much higher
Earth wind, earth wind and fire
Could I ever explain
This feeling of love it just lingers on
The fear in my heart that keeps telling me which way to turn
We'll wander again
Our clothes they are wet
We shy from the rain
Longing to touch all the places we know we can hide
The width of a room that can hold so much pleasure inside
Here am I alone again
A quiet town where life begins
Here am I just wondering
Nightporters go
Nightporters slip away
I'll watch for a sign
And if I should ever again cross your mind
I'll sit in my room and wait until nightlife begins
I'm catching my breath
We'll both brave the weather again
Here am I alone again
A quiet town where life gives in
Here am I just wondering
Nightporters go
Take position and love will take a stand
That is the way it goes
No inquisition, no cynical demands
No-one should ever know
Because I'm dancing
Dancing to your heart
Dancing to your heart
Dancing to your heart, now baby
Oh, what a way to start
Because I'm dancing
Dancing to your heart
Dancing to your heart, now baby
What a way to start
Well, I'm trying to find
All the love we discovered
That is the way it goes
No perversion in this unconventional love
No way I'd rather see
No diversion in this unintentional love
No way I'd rather be
Because I'm dancing
Dancing to your heart
Dancing to your heart
Dancing to your heart, now baby
Oh, what a way to start
Because I'm dancing
Dancing to your heart
Dancing to your heart, now baby
What a way to start
Well, I'm trying to find
All the love we discovered
A summerhouse in Texas
Searching for Siberia
Pioneering underground
We looked a lot like you
Now work is done, the table set
Deliver insufficient sound
Oh my, fall in love with me
Oh my, fall in love with me
Cross military lines
Nobody would believe us now
The weather working with us
We looked a lot like you
Now every boy's a refugee
Living for the moment
Through the shrieking wails
Trans-European overseas
Silently leaving Amsterdam
We looked a lot like you
Shy away from standard life
Maybe you want to give me kisses sweet
But only for one night with no repeat
Maybe you'll go away and never call
And a taste of honey is worse than none at all
Oh little girl
In that case I don't want no part
I do believe that would only break my heart
So if you feel like loving me
If you've got that notion
I second that emotion
So if you feel like giving me
A life-time of devotion
I second that emotion
Maybe you think that love will tie you down
And you don't seem to like to hang around
Or maybe you think thot love was made for fools
So it makes you wise to break the rules
I second that emotion
I second that emotion
Boys, now the times are changing
The going could get rough
Boys, would that ever cross your mind
Boys, are you contemplating
Moving out somewhere
Boys, will you ever find the time?
Here we are stranded
Somehow it seems the same, beware.
Here comes the quiet life again?
Boys, now the country's only miles away from here
Boys, do you recognise the signs?
Boys, when those driving hands push against the tracks
Boys, it's too late to wonder why
Here we are stranded
Somehow it seems the same, beware.
Here comes the quiet life again?
As you turn to leave
Never looking back
Will you think of me?
Your confiscating transmission
For liberty, no sympathy
Don't interfere with direct invitations
She's talking of communial love
Woo-wo, woo-wo
If you had what it takes
Well, you wouldn't be afraid
But you got no ID,
No identity
You got no ID,
No identity
Don't break your heart over me, baby
Your body falls, too unpredictable
But I'm dancing
The game is up -
Your contraceptives low
Woo-wo, woo-wo
If you had what it takes
Well, you wouldn't be afraid
But you got no ID,
No identity
You got no ID,
No identity
Woo-wo, woo-wo
If you had what it takes
Well, you wouldn't be afraid
But you got no ID,
No identity
You programme, love, insatiable crime
Imprisons me - in liberty
Your chauvinism's a sensuous smile
Transmission of commercial love
Woo-wo, woo-wo
If you had what it takes
Well, you wouldn't be afraid
But you got no ID,
No identity
You got no ID,
No identity
But you got no ID,
No identity!
But you got no ID,
The cottage is windswept
Now there's only sorrow here
Follow evacuation signs
You're detached and broken
and so sentimental now
Remembering how we passed our time
Somebody waits for me
Far beyond our Halloween
Germanic forces marching on concrete squares
Our love is just defenceless sound
And could we believe that all you said was true
We would be so determined now
Somebody waits for me
Far beyond our Halloween
Slowly emerging Dividing Germany
Everyone's lost in East Berlin
Only believing just what you want to hear
We're waiting at stations once again
Somebody waits for me
Far beyond our Halloween
Somebody waits for me
Everything's neat and compact
There's not much to shout about
But winter is breaking inside of me
Now life is so incomplete
But you're one of the boys again
But is that all you want to be?
Now that you feel the weather
Was it all in vain?
Now that we're together
We seem so alien
Slowly descend from heaven
Anyway we turn we win
But how can you always be so sure?
Nightporters sleep on weekdays
Living a lifetime too
Walking away without a cure
Now that you feel the weather
Was it all in vain?
Now that we're together
We seem so alien
The noise on the stairs disturbs me
Somebody walks my way
But can you rely on everything I feel?
Driving through endless buildings
The desert is so serene
But Mondays were never really my ideal
Now that you feel the weather
Was it all in vain?
Now that we're together
She keeps her patience for the bedroom
Should satisfy her for a week
Her domination is executed cheaply
With her studio technique
What's new?
She carries love in a carrier bag
What's new?
She don't keep her body clean
Oh, Oh, Oh
Illegitimate contributions
And neurotic fantasies conceived
Love is infectious
I don't know about that
Love is infectious
I don't know about it
She keeps appointments by the hour glass
Guerilla warfare in her bed
And constant love is oh oh so negative
We're simulating sex instead
She carries love in a carrier bag
She don't keep her body clean
Oh, Oh, Oh
Illegitimate contributions
And neurotic fantasies conceived
Love is infectious
I don't know about that
Love is infectious
I don't know about it
No personality's essential
Nobody strictly in command
She's not direct, elusive
Or inadequate
Love's incompatible commands
What's new?
She carries love in a carrier bag
What's new?
She don't keep her body clean
Oh, Oh, Oh
Illegitimate contributions
And neurotic heartaches are conceived
Love is infectious
I don't know about that
Love is infectious
Scurrying across the broadwalk
Some places I tend to forget
Echoings deep in my throat
It's so cold in this luncheonette, well
Somebody wants to know you
An ordinary boy
Somebody wants to know you
A standard polaroid, well
Here I am
European son
Sometimes the passenger
European son
Here I am
Suffragettes in Washington
Disposable serviettes
Searching for the quiet life
There's no love in this luncheonette, well
Here I am
European son
Sometimes the passenger
European son
Here I am
Here I am
European son
Sometimes the passenger
European son
European son
European son
European son
European son
Somebody wants to know you
European son
An ordinary boy
I apologise again
Time after time after time
The conversation drifts
In no general direction
And your aural love
Is keeping me from bed
And it's talking and talking
It's all you ever said
You know it's all you want
All you want
It's all you want
All you want
You don't fool me, you don't fool me
No surprises, no surprises
Love in the hallway
Sex on the carpet
Antagonism rising
You know you try to categorise me
Because it's all you ever wanted
It's all you want
All you want
It's all you want
All you want
But you're changing my love
'Cos all you want is - television!
No heart is infected
No damage is done
No cavity open
Nobody, no fun
They throw shit in your face
And you smile
They throw shit in your face
And you still come up smiling
You've got nothing to believe in
The diverse
The young and
The breathing
It's all you want
All you want
All you want
All you want
They say it's
All you want
All you want
Television
Television
Television
Television
Television
Television
Television
You've got blasphemy with a smile
Insomnia sleeps with you nights
You've got commercial sex appeal
In sterile black and white
You're glorious colourless motion
From reel to reel you run
Nocturnal television
Internal sanctum
But it's all you want
All you want
It's all you want
All you want - want
I bet you're changing my love
All I want is
Television
But you're changing my love
I said I don't want
Well but you're changing my love
'cos I don't want
It's television
All night and day
All night and day
All night and day
It's all you ever wanted
It's all you ever wanted
it's all you want
All you want
All you want
All you want
All you want
There's always something left inside him
I've really nothing much to lose
It seems so sentimental
Why should I care?
Somewhere there's a sound of distant living
Locked up in high society
It seems so artificial
Why should I care?
Oh ho ho
Life can be cruel
Life in Tokyo
Oh ho ho
Life can be cruel
Life in Tokyo
Another vehicle heads for sunset
No other providence will do
They're only buildings and houses
Why should I care
Oh ho ho
Life can be cruel
Life in Tokyo
Oh ho ho
Life can be cruel
Life in Tokyo
Oh ho ho
Life can be cruel
Life in Tokyo
Oh ho ho
Life can be cruel
Life in Tokyo
Oh ho ho
Life can be cruel
I saw a young man by a telephone
He was sitting alone in the rain
I said, "Hey, young man what you doing here?"
He said, "Sir, I'm going insane"
See I love an American beauty
But nobody here understands
So he looked to the sky with resentment in his eyes
And said, "Lord, why am I in Japan?"
Lord why am I in Japan?
He told me a story about yesterday
How he walked in the search of a friend
But nobody came to his rescue
So he came to his bitter end
He pulled me close and said
"They all stopped and stared
As I walked down the street alone
And nobody knew my name
Nobody knew my name"
I said, "Young man I know where you're going
And young man I know where you've been
But I've been in this land for a lifetime, it seems,
And I'm never to come back again
No, I'm never to come back again
So I turned and I gave him my blessing
And I left him alone in the rain
But I had to just stop and laugh at myself
Still nobody knows my name
We're pushing through these farming towns
We worked hard ploughing over ground
Red army calls you the call of the crowd
Red army needs you they call you now
Cantonese boy
Bang your tin drum
Cantonese boy
Civilian soldier
Cantonese boy
Bang your tin drum
Cantonese boy
Red army calls you home
We're singing marching through the hills
We're changing the lives we've led for years
Red army calls you the call of the crowd
Red army needs you they call you now
Cantonese boy
Bang your tin drum
Cantonese boy
Civilian soldier
Cantonese boy
Bang your tin drum
Cantonese boy
Red army calls you home
Red army calls you
Red army needs you
Gentlemen you heard us call
Raised your glass and called for more
Dom je vedno boljoddaljen stran
Bela ptica nese me drugam
Druge zvezde zdaj me grejejo
Hladno sonce naše je zašlo
Gledam ven v temo
Kaplje na okno padajo
Ni me strah za jutrišnji dan
To mora biti raj
Bele iskre v nebo
V temi se vidi horizont
In edinstven ocean
Se ga dotika tam
Krona mehka sede na glavo
Dože smo odvrgli z radostjo
Vsak pogled v sebi nosi mir
Ples ob ognju naj prežene zver
Zletijo bele iskre v nebo
V temi se vidi horizont
In edinstven ocean
Se ga dotika tam
Gledam ven v temo
Kaplje z okna izginejo
Ni me strah za jutrišnji dan
To mora biti raj, je raj, je raj, je raj, je raj, je raj...
Druge zvezde zdej me grejejo
Hladno sonce naše je zašlo
Vsak pogled v sebi nosi mir
Ples ob ognju naj prežene zver
Zletijo bele iskre v nebo
V temi se vidi horizont
In edinstven ocean
Se ga dotika tam
Bele iskre v nebo
V temi se vidi horizont
In edinstven ocean
Now there's a girl about town I'd like to know
I'd like to slip away with you
And if you said you love me how could I mind?
Is there another side to everything you do?
Take in the country air
You'll never win
Gentlemen take polaroids
They fall in love they fall in love
Gentlemen take polaroids
They fall in love they fall in love
Breathe life into me
Spin me round
And I'll just sit and wonder why
Just a foreign town with a foreign mind
Why is everything so cut and dried?
The taste of country air you'll never know
Gentlemen take polaroids
They fall in love they fall in love
Gentlemen take polaroids
They fall in love they fall in love
Take in the country, ah you'll never win
Gentlemen take polaroids
They fall in love they fall in love
Gentlemen take polaroids
When every day is something new
When every day comes with a hope of finding you
Where every day the dusk rise and the ray falls down
I can feel
The cold calm and the chills
The fear's creeping up on my skin
On this ground
I've laid my dreams in ruins
Tonight
It's nothing like what I've craved
I'm trying
I'm trying to find my way
I'm trying to get to you
But now
I just wanna be in my grave
Being all alone
Behind the wall
In quarantine
I can't feel your warmth
Behind this glass
All I can see is
You goin' down
I can feel
The cold calm and the chills
The fear's creeping up on my skin
On this ground
I've laid my dreams in ruins
Tonight
It's nothing like what I've craved
I'm trying
I'm trying to find my way
I'm trying to get to you
But now
Time waits for no one
No holy saviour came again
It's here now, my old friend
And it's time to go home...
Back to the stars
Now I know how it sounds
But I know how I feel
And this boredom kicks into the aligned
The invisible and the divine
And the lights upon the hill at night
They have followed me young
And into tomorrow No time for you
Time alone
This time I think I've found it
Goodbye my love
It came for me
I'm going back to Japan
Before the light of day reveals itself
I assured she won't forget
But still I will console myself
Should I lose something I could regret
But now she turns to leave
Exactly like she used to do
Did nobody warn you boy
Love's in vogue again my love
Did nobody tell you girl
Love's in vogue again my love
Before the light of day I awake
She's clearly not herself today
Across a crowded room life begins
Before the moment drifts away
How bitter the morning feels
Too many heartaches have been rejected
A notified delay
I feel adrenalin ejecting
And I'll soon go on my way
And it's so hard now
And it's so hard now
Beating on my brain
I find no fascination to stimulate
I'll do it all again
Oh you find love inside an automatic gun
Another lifestyle breaks on the carpet
Nothing as before
Without old intuition
We're feeling stronger
We're communists at war
And it's so hard now
And it's so hard now
Authority denied
We pull the trigger
The cartridge empty
But marxists still reply
Oh you find love inside an automatic gun
I throw my fist in your chest
In search of a refugee
Love is bust from an air assault cannon
Heaven in your hands
Go beating on my brains
Go beating on my brains
With new abandon
We're resurrected
Throwing you apart
With acclamation
Company deposited
Pissing on your heart
Take it easy check me out
I move from the car wash
Your hands are not clean
From your fascist graffitti
I'm getting kind of tired
Descending escalators
To the heart of the subway
But you are not the only one, baby
Check me out
Oh well it's getting kind of silly
Inadequate bodies are waging a war
But you'd better check the situation
Your mouth is open wide
But your body is too sore
But you are not the only one baby
Check me out
But my performance is good
My performance is good
For your love for your love
My performance is good
As I perform for you
Another nervous breakdown
Well nobody has to suffer
The camera ejects from another location
Take refuge in the city
Then move on down the line
Between the cradle of stations
But you are not the only one
Degredation takes a soul potential
The woman ain't to blame
Infiltrate the morning's passing hours
But love remains the same
I know I wish you were black
But ain't no use you pretending
She ain't ever coming back
To put you on the right track
Unamerican humour
All American smile
Hovers on the horizon baby
But no-one can reply well well
Breezin, breesin, she's no lover
Breezin, breezin
Satisfaction unrequited
A ghetto in your heart
Hoards of mass production baby
Is keeping us apart
I know I wish you were black
But ain't no use singing gospel
She ain't ever coming back
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
A hand-me-down dress from who knows where
To all tomorrow's parties
Where will she go
What shall she do
When midnight comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
The silken trimmings of yesterday's gown
To all tomorrow's parties
What shall she do
With Thursday's rags
When Monday comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
Thursday's child is Sunday's clown
From whom no-one ever borrows
A blackened shroud
A hand-me-down gown of rags and silks her costume
Fit for one who sits and cries
I feel so rejected
Come dance for me
I need alternative living
To feel objectively
Sometimes
I feel so low
Wholesale on heartaches
'Cross a warehouse floor
Outside a heart beats faster
Inside it needs far more
Sometimes
I feel so low
So close to heaven
Come reach for me
I feel the pressure rising
We're descending constantly
Sometimes
I'm walking young and strong
But just a little too thin
I may be happy but I haven't clue
to this life in my mind
Stay with me
We could learn to fight
like every good boy should
Cling to me
We are blacked out in visions of China
Tonight
I'm building heroes again
I never thought of before
I remember the fashion but don't have a clue
to your life in my mind
Stay with me
We could learn to fight
Like every good boy should
Cling to me
We are blacked out in visions of China
Tonight
We walk backwards say nothing
My visions of China
We're young and strong in this party
We're building our visions of China
We walk backwards say nothing
Visions of China
We're young and strong in this party
We're building our visions of China
We walk backwards say nothing
Our visions of China
We're young and strong in this party
You do me wrong but I'm still crazy 'bout you
Stay away too long and I can't live without you
Every chance you get you seem to hurt me more and more
But each hurt just makes my love stronger than before
I know that flowers grow to rain
But how can love grow to pain?
Ain't that peculiar, a peculiarity
Ain't that peculiar, peculiar as can be
You tell me lies that you'll be honest to me
But I'm so much in love that I don't see that
The things you do and say are designed to make me blue
It's a doggone shame my love that your lies seem true
If the truth makes love last longer
Why do lies make love last stronger?
Ain't that peculiar, a peculiarity
Ain't that peculiar, peculiar as can be
Oh I've cried so much just like a child that's lost his toy
Maybe baby you think these tears I cry are tears of joy
A child can cry so much and still do anything you say
Well, I'm like a child my tears don't help me get my way
I know that love can last through years
But how can love last through tears?
Ain't that peculiar, a peculiarity
Life is like a rollercoaster
It does flips and throws you over
Board your ship that's going nowhere
If you stop, you'll end up somewhere
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody, just hold hands
Now everybody wants to go to Californ-i-a
To live their life on a sunny day
Dreaming of someone else's wife and kids (kids and wife)
But they'll be bringing you the same old shit (strife)
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody, just hold hands.
Everyone wants to go to Jamaica
Queens in drag will surely fake ya
Take you home, and then they'll rape you
But you like it, so say "Thank you"
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody, just hold hands.
Everybody wants to go to Iraq
But once they go, they don't come back
Bringing peanut butter jelly and other snacks
We might have our freedom, but we're still on crack.
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody just hold hands.
Everybody just hold hands.
Everybody just hold hands.
Everybody just hold hands.
Tell me when the work is done
Tell me when the day is through
And I'll drive safely inside my car
Taking islands in Africa
Shout if someone gets too near
I'll know just what I ought to do
I'll arrive safely in my car
Taking islands in Africa
Now you're feet are back on the ground again
She'll say the weather's dim but relax my love
Relax and swing
Things you say are not too clear
I'm someone you'll neither know again
But I sit here and watch from afar
Taking islands in Africa
Whisper in the wind
Sometimes the comfort of a room
Sometimes I'm quite alone
I pack to leave a foreign town
It seems I'll never know
But I'll rent new accommodation
We'll make plans for mobile homes
Slow boats moving with the tide
Drifting far from shore
It's the nature of this country life
I've never known before
Still we'll make plans for buildings and houses
From mobile homes
Plant life
My life
Still life in mobile homes
Plant life
My life
Still life in mobile homes
The sound of wildlife fills the air
So warm and dry
The bushland burns in this southern heat
Like an open fire
Still we'll make plans for buildings and houses
From mobile homes... mobile homes
Plant life
My life
Still life in mobile homes
Blood life
My life
Still life in mobile homes
A voice screams from heaven
As we start to sail
It's the calling of the fatherland
I used to know so well
'Til I'll find new accommodation
We'll make plans for mobile homes
Plant life
My life
Still life in mobile homes
Plant life
My life
Taking islands in Africa
Watch the slow boat hit and run
Outside there's a world waiting
I'll take it all by storm
And when the sunset finds me
I'm coming home
Taking islands in Africa
Watch the slow boat hit and run
Everyday the sun beats down
I pull away from shore
The wind blows hard into my sails
Now I know I'm out of touch
And times they could get tough
But I move on so I cannot fail
Taking islands in Africa
Watch the slow boat hit and run
When the evening fires burn
The daylight dead and gone
With you beside me we can run
Outside there's a world waiting
I'll take it all by storm
And when the sunset finds me
I'm coming home
Taking islands in Africa
Watch the slow boat hit and run
Taking islands in Africa
Just watch the slow boat hit and run
Everyday the sun beats down
I'll pull away from shore
When the room is quiet
The daylight almost gone
It seems there's something I should know
Well I ought to leave but
The rain it never stops
And I have no particular place to go
Just when I think I'm winning
When I've broken every door
The ghosts of my life
Blow wilder than before
Just when I thought I could not be stopped
When my chance came to be king
The ghosts of my life
Blew wilder than the wind
Well I'm feeling nervous
And I find myself alone
The simple life's no longer there
Once I was so sure
Now the doubt inside my mind
Comes and goes but leads nowhere
Just when I think I'm winning
When I've broken every door
The ghosts of my life
Blow wilder than before
Just when I thought I could not be stopped
When my chance came to be king
The ghosts of my life
Flirting new ambition
Pressure for the ceiling
No vacation on immaculate times
Domestic training
A woman's intuition
A love is churning out on factory lines
Health demanding
Unfit behaviour
Commuters converse in satirical signs
Know no news and no personnel crisis
With new indifferent industrial crimes
Welcome to suburban Berlin
Welcome to suburban Berlin
Love affairs
And endless strategies
I don't believe in a word they said
City limits
No more information
Go follow navigation in your head
Welcome to suburban Berlin
Sometimes I feel I've been here forever
Sometime ago
Sometimes we sense the doubt together
Sometimes alone
I'm tired but we won't sleep at all
even though the air is calm
Something here and something warm
something cuts the scars inside tonight
Sons of pioneers are hungry men
Every voice I hear sounds so familiar
Every song I know
Still there's been no change in the weather
But sometime we'll have to go
I'm tired but we won't sleep at all
even though the air is calm
Something here and something warm
something cuts the scars inside tonight
Love's incentives understood
Irregular thoughts comply
And still afraid of every word
Love is unsatisfied
Zero down to zero
Submerging in every man
Zero down to zero
Catch me as best you can
Well you must know something
'Cos we're dying of admiration here
Mastering obscure alternatives
Between the dialogue lovers run
New decisions we won't decide
And still afraid of every word
JAPAN
All the delusions are real
I’ve seen it all before
That’s why you took us from here
Where no one knows who we are
Tracing maps
Finding a park whatsoever
We can’t find it any longer
Near a close big square
How can one care if we’re so
Surprised by the end
Can we care if we were so…
And you know what you cannot hide
And you know what you asked for
We’ll trace all the neon lights
Can we care if we were so…
And you know what you can’t decide
And you know what were meant for
We’ll trace lines up in the sky
Come on
Come on
Come on
Getting it on
Placing tracks
Small leaded panes made of silver
We should try all the frames outside
Near the glass hotel
How can one care if we’re so
It's a new design
The cut and style you know so well
Spins across the floor
It's the same routine
Just one last word before you go
Why should I ask for more?
Then out of the blue
you're here by me
Moving
Taking my chance
Learning
Methods of dance
It's such as price to pay
You sense the doubt inside my mind
But never ask me why
No second chances now
I could be sure if I were to live at your speed of life
Then out of the blue
you're here by me
Moving
Taking my chance
Learning
Methods of dance
Oh, oh, oh
Featuring: The Lonely Island
Whoa!
I can't believe we're in Japan!
Look at all the lights!
The food!
The people!
Wow!
We're three cool white friends in Japan (Japan!)
We've never been to Japan
So we wrote a song about the three of us in Japan
And our label has to pay for it
Here we are at our five star hotel
The one from LOST IN TRANSLATION (In Japan!)
The views are amazing
And their champagne waiting
Because that's how we wrote it (Yummy!)
And now the label has to pay for the video (yay!)
And pay for everything that we say (no matter what!)
For example I'll be getting a massage right now
And I'll be drinking some sake (So expensive!) (Who cares?)
Here we are at the most expensive sushi restaurant in Japan (mmm!)
And now we're at Tokyo Disneyland
And now we're in Hawaii for one random shot that our label has to pay for!
Cause we're three cool white friends in Japan (In Asia!)
The fact that we're white isn't why we're friends
But we are white, and we're friends (In Japan)
At this point in the video we'll be super drunk (WEEEE!)
Standing near some kind of Dragon
And then we'll buy some stinky used girls panties
Out of one of those pervert vending machines
Now we've seen sumo wrestling live
Unless we get dropped by our label
Cause we're three white douchebags in Japan (That's us!)
It's all part of our master plan
To get some much needed R&R;
At the expense of Universal Records
Wow Look at all this Japanese money
It's called Yen
I heard it's worth more than American money
Let's dump it in the river!
(phone rings)
Moshi Moshi
Guys it's the label
This video's really expensive and-
BYE!!
Pokemon!
Dump it in the River!
Our rental car!
Dump it in the River!
This old guy!
Dump him in the river!

Just watch the slow boat hit and run
Everyday the sun beats down
I'll pull away from shore
Big shiny jet plane in the sky
Please drop us off as we go by
We're an American band
And everything is rockin' out of control
When we hit Japan
Faxes from the veiwers on tv
Karioke hokey-pokey on the screen
Dig my toes into the Pacific sand
And everything is rockin' out of control
When we hit Japan [x3]
Yeah, 20 tonnes of Sushi-lovin' fun
(Yum yum)
The kiddy line will thank you one by one
(Arigato)
Please come out to see us when we land
And everything is rockin' out of control
When we hit Japan [x25]
Yeah, hi ya!
Wo-wo-ho-wo-wo-ho-ho-ho
Your skin a white stained sensation
Clinical bodies won't do
And as we're pumping, pumping and resisting
Inserting love into you
Communist China
Take me to heaven
Somebody wrong
We'll throw glass in your face
Call it new propaganda
Still, we've been waiting for so long
I'll take you out in the moonlight
Oblique horizons won't do
The knife in your fist
Is breaking up the white walls
Here's penetration for you
Face-to-face confrontation
Personal problems for you
And conversation's getting far too vicious
Standing outside on a kitchen floor
Love utensils in the palm of her hand
Saluting supermarket majorettes
We understand
Oh muzak for digital clocks
Departmental stores, vacate no sound
Exchanging surgical appliances
On hired ground
And love blows through Rhodesia
And love blows through Rhodesia
Soldierettes marching in the parking lot
Bleach your body
Be proof to the fact
Moving out in all directions
And turning back
Oh, heartaches from Amsterdam
Masturbated over jilted bouquets
Approximation's counting on a freight line
We pull away
And love blows through Rhodesia
And love blows through Rhodesia
Oh, Nazis in full attack
Burning niggers in a cotton field
Service stations offer promises
And promises offer me
And love blows through Rhodesia
