Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leads up to light.
Detective Somerset is looking for a way out. Detective David Mills is looking for a way in. Now, they're caught in a game with a price of sin is death.
Seven deadly sins. Seven ways to die.
Gluttony * Greed * Sloth * Envy * Wrath * Pride * Lust
Let he who is without sin try to survive
Earnest Hemingway once wrote, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I believe the second part.
Crazed Man in Massage Parlour: Get this thing off of me! Get this thing off of me!
John Doe: It's more comfortable for you to label me as insane.::David Mills: It's VERY comfortable.
David Mills: Wait, I thought all you did was kill innocent people.::John Doe: Innocent? Is that supposed to be funny? An obese man... a disgusting man who could barely stand up; a man who if you saw him on the street, you'd point him out to your friends so that they could join you in mocking him; a man, who if you saw him while you were eating, you wouldn't be able to finish your meal. After him, I picked the lawyer and I know you both must have been secretly thanking me for that one. This is a man who dedicated his life to making money by lying with every breath that he could muster to keeping murderers and rapists on the streets!::David Mills: Murderers?::John Doe: A woman...::David Mills: Murderers, John, like yourself?::John Doe: [interrupts] A woman... so ugly on the inside she couldn't bear to go on living if she couldn't be beautiful on the outside. A drug dealer, a drug dealing pederast, actually! And let's not forget the disease-spreading whore! Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face. But that's the point. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it's common, it's trivial. We tolerate it morning, noon, and night. Well, not anymore. I'm setting the example. What I've done is going to be puzzled over and studied and followed... forever.
William Somerset: David. If you kill him, he will win.
David Mills: Do you like what you do for a living? These things you see?::Man in Massage Parlour Booth: No, I don't. But that's life.
William Somerset: [to Tracy] Anyone who spends a significant amount of time with me finds me disagreeable. Just ask your husband.::David Mills: Very true. Very, very true.
David Mills: Yeah, a landlord's dream: a paralyzed tenant with no tongue.::William Somerset: Who pays the rent on time.
William Somerset: I just don't think I can continue to live in a place that embraces and nurtures apathy as if it was virtue.::David Mills: You're no different. You're no better.::William Somerset: I didn't say I was different or better. I'm not. Hell, I sympathize; I sympathize completely. Apathy is the solution. I mean, it's easier to lose yourself in drugs than it is to cope with life. It's easier to steal what you want than it is to earn it. It's easier to beat a child than it is to raise it. Hell, love costs: it takes effort and work.
David Mills: Fuckin' Dante... poetry-writing faggot! Piece of shit, motherfucker!
Dr. Beardsley: He's experienced about as much pain and suffering as anyone I've encountered, give or take, and he still has Hell to look forward to.

One incredible afternoon Napoleon met Wellington . . . at Waterloo.
Waterloo. The battle that changed the face of the world.
The Men, the Battle, The Glory, The World Will Remember Forever
Napoleon Bonaparte: Cross the river. Tomorrow we will dry our boots in Brussels.::Michel Ney: God willing sire.::Napoleon Bonaparte: God? God has nothing to do with it.
King Louis XVIII: I know you loved this man.::Michel Ney: I did, once. But I promise you, that I will bring him back to Paris in an iron cage.::[exits]::King Louis XVIII: How they exagerate, these soldiers, In an iron cage! Nobody asked for that?
Lord Uxbridge: Er-herm. Sir.::Duke of Wellington: [removing his copy of The Times from over his face] Ah, Uxbridge.::Lord Uxbridge: As I am second in command and in case anything should happen to you, what are your plans?::Duke of Wellington: To beat the French.::[goes back to sleep, replacing the newspaper]
Duke of Wellington: The whole line will advance.::Lord Uxbridge: In which direction your grace?::Duke of Wellington: Why, straight ahead to be sure.
Duke of Wellington: Next to a battle lost, the saddest thing is a battle won.
Napoleon Bonaparte: Never interrupt your enemy while he's making a mistake. That's bad manners.
Lord Uxbridge: By God, Sir. I've lost my leg.::Duke of Wellington: By God, Sir. So you have.
[the Prussians are preparing to attack]::Field Marshal Gebhard von Blucher: Raise high the black flags, my children. No prisoners. No pity. I will shoot any man I see with pity in him.
[Historical quote]::Duke of Wellington: [referring to his army] I don't know what they'll do to the enemy; but, by God, they frighten me.
[Observing the advance of the Gordon Highlanders]::Napoleon Bonaparte: Has Wellington nothing to offer me but these Amazons?

The video shows the various methods employed by Land and Water to dredge the Rivers and their specialist equipment used - which included amphibious excavators, excavators on pontoons, long reach excavators, tugs, barges and disposal of the dredging’s with tractors and agricultural trailers. This was an extremely sensitive project that was successfully completed on time and within budget.

Sunday 26th October saw BR(M) Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-0 no.46447 officially launched back into to traffic on the East Somerset Railway, following her restoration in the ESR workshops from scrapyard condition back to working order. An outstanding achievement when you consider it only took them just under two years, and doesn't she look good! The launch ceremony took place in the platform at Cranmore Station, where a few speeches were given and the "ceremonial fizzy wine" broken on the front coupling (on the third attempt!), the restoration team then posed for photographs on the buffer beam. A fairly relaxed atmosphere, with people being allowed track side during the ceremony for more photographic opportunities. After the launch ceremony, we see the Ivatt run round and haul her first passenger train since 1966, although a combination of the crowds and my indecisiveness of where to stand meant these shots ended up being handheld. The tripod came out for her return, and she is seen pulling out of Cranmore West for the main Cranmore station. A couple of quick shots of her sat in the platform at Cranmore before we head off up the line to Farm Road Bridge - the only public road over bridge on the line - where she is seen coasting down towards the line's current terminus of Mendip Vale. She is then seen pulling out of Mendip Vale up the 1 in 56 gradient to Merryfield Halt, inter cut with a second shot from the road bridge, and quite a lovely bark she has too! She is a credit to the guys over at the ESR workshops, a job well done! Filmed on a Panasonic HS900 with Panasonic VW-VM2SE and Pro Sound L92AA microphones. Enjoy.

Somerset After the Floods BBC Documentary 2015 The Somerset Levels are one of the most beautiful parts of Britain, but in the winter of 2013 they faced a natural disaster. One village, Moorland, was entirely engulfed by the floods. Deluged by water, the villagers watched helplessly as their lives and homes were washed away. This programme follows their year-long struggle to get home again after the water drained and media attention shifted away. Although the residents put on a brave face, the realities of their fate pile up - the refusal of insurance companies to pay up, and the months of delay with the builders. All this adds fuel to a heartfelt frustration that the floods were man-made and the nagging fear of what would happen to them if and when the waters return.

This week I’m in Wells, in Somerset, not to be mistaken with Wells in Somerset. Toby's channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/tobydolier?sub_confirmation=1 You may think that this picturesque location is a town but it’s not a town, it's a city and that’s because it has a cathedral. In fact it’s the smallest city in the UK. Wells Cathedral is actually relatively new, it was built in 2009. The architect, Mrs Maureen Tucker gave the finished building it’s “aged” look by dabbing the brick work with tea bags. Many have accused Well’s residents of being xenophobic and intolerant of other cultures which is why it may surprise you that Wells was the first place in the UK to regular produce curry. The first one they brought out in England was the vegetable bhuna, other dishes followed in subsequent years. No visit to Wells would be complete without a visit to Bakwell Manor, the former home of the late Mr Kipling. Guest to the manor house often report seeing the ghost of the famous baker who, in life, was exceedingly good at making cakes. __________ Music: http://audiojungle.net/item/spanish-rhythmic-guitar/151349 / http://audiojungle.net/item/spanish-summer-dance/2421901 Stock video: http://videohive.net/item/indian-curry-vegetables-with-couscous/4765614

Singapore Visitor Center, opposite Somerset MRT station, Singapore. This place provides free Wi-Fi for tourists!! This is a brand new Singapore Visitor Center, opened 17 Feb 2015. Housed in a Peranakan building, right opposite Somerset MRT station. I check out the Visitor center and the friendly tourism ambassador shows me how she can make good recommendations for the tourist, using the new interactive computer system, and even print out a coloured map and itinerary for the tourist. This is really cool! Opening Hours: 9:30AM to 10:30PM The following write up is taken from the Singapore Tourism Board Press release dated 16 Feb 2015. Singapore Visitor Centre Relocates to orchardgateway@emerald A one-stop touch-point catering and customising to visitor needs Singapore, 16 February 2015 – The Singapore Visitor Centre (SVC) will have a new home at 216 Orchard Road; situated next to orchardgateway@emerald, from 17 February. Set in a two-storey conserved Peranakan shophouse in the heritage-rich Emerald Hill area, the centre is designed with the visitor experience in mind, from the spatial layout to the range of services available. The SVC will provide more services, including the sale of arts and entertainment tickets, on top of existing tours, accommodation and attractions booking options. It will also house a retail space that offers locally-designed souvenirs - curated based on what one can "Eat", "See", "Hear" and "Learn" in Singapore. Visitors can bring home a variety of souvenirs that take inspiration from traditional local food such as kueh tutu to Singapore's distinctive HDB flats. A key feature of the new Centre is the use of technology to help visitors explore more of Singapore. Besides two large screens that display a variety of places of interest and events in Singapore, there are four interactive information kiosks that allow visitors to first browse and select places to explore, before putting them together in a digital itinerary. This personalised itinerary can then be printed immediately and/or emailed to the visitors' smartphones. Complimentary WiFi will also be available for visitors to stay connected within the SVC, enhancing the overall visitor experience. STB Director, Visitor Experience & Capability Development, Ms Choo Huei Miin said, "The new Singapore Visitor Centre aims to be a one-stop service and information touch-point that adds to visitors' overall experience in Singapore. We hope that, through the effective use of technology coupled with personalised and warm assistance provided by our Customer Service Officers, visitors will have a better understanding of what Singapore can offer and be inspired to explore and uncover our many hidden gems." While the first level of the centre is devoted to key visitor services, the second level is an event space that will be open in the second quarter of the year. There will be temporary exhibitions and interactive installations that will present different facets of Singapore, adding layers to deliver a compelling Singapore story. The new SVC will replace the current one located at the junction of Cairnhill Road and Orchard Road, which will cease operations on 17 February. Visitors can also approach SVC@ION Orchard and Chinatown Visitor Centre @ Kreta Ayer Square. For more information on locations and operating hours, please visit the YourSingapore website at: www.yoursingapore.com/about-singapore/traveller-information/tourism-centre.html.

The West Somerset Railway's 'AUTUMN STEAM GALA' was held on October 2nd-5th 2014. The theme of this event was the 50th Anniversary of the closure of Taunton Shed (83B) and featured not only a visiting locomotive that was at the shed at the time of closure but also featured locomotives renumbered to represent now-scrapped locos that were at the shed when it closed. The locomotives that featured at the gala were as follows... - GWR 1400-class 0-4-2T No.1450 (visiting from its current base at the Severn Valley Railway) which was at Taunton shed when it closed. - GWR 2884-class 2-8-0 No.3850 (running as No.3863). - GWR 4500-class 'Small Prairie' 2-6-2T No.4566 (visiting from the Severn Valley Railway). - GWR 4575-class 'Small Prairie' 2-6-2T No.5542 (visiting from its current base at the South Devon Railway). - GWR 4900-class 'Hall' 4-6-0 No.4936 "Kinlet Hall" (on-loan to the WSR for the 2014 and 2015 seasons & running as No.4932 "Hatherton Hall"). - BR(W) 5101-class 'Large Prairie' 2-6-2T No.4160 (running as No.4131). - GWR 8750-class 0-6-0PT No.4612 (visiting from the Bodmin & Wenford Railway & half-running as No.9670). - GWR 6959-class 'Modified Hall' 4-6-0 No.6960 "Raveningham Hall" (running as No.7909 "Heveningham Hall"). - BR(W) 7800-class 'Manor' 4-6-0 No.7820 "Dinmore Manor" (visiting its former Home Base from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway & replacement for GWR 2884-class 2-8-0 No.3802 which was unavailable). - BR(W) 7800-class 'Manor' 4-6-0 No.7828 "Odney Manor". - SDJR 7F-class 2-8-0 No.88 (although has no connection to the gala theme, but was working its last two services before withdrawal for overhaul in readiness for the Somerset & Dorset 50th Anniversary Gala in 2016). - 'Peckett' 0-4-0ST W/No.1788 "Kilmersdon" (performing shunting demonstrations in the yard at Washford). http://www.onedayfloorpro.com/ A Fast & Affordable Solution Not all hardwood floors are created equal! For floors that don’t need a complete sanding, or can’t be sanded we’re able to offer our one day hardwood floor refinishing package. This saves you time and eliminates the hassles associated with traditional hardwood floor refinishing methods. With our 1 day hardwood floor refinishing service you will receive a non toxic finish that is two times more durable than traditional water or oil based air dry systems plus it cures instantly leaving no odors behind. How the one day hardwood floor refinishing process works… Our one day hardwood floor refinishing service doesn’t require a sanding down to the raw wood of your current floor. Instead, we perform a deep cleaning to remove all existing dirt and chemicals while softening whats left to promote adhesion of our coat and cure finish. After cleaning we perform a light abrasion using a buffing machine with a special sanding screen. This removes leftover scratches and imperfections in your wood floor’s surface, and prepares it to receive our finish. Once that’s done, we apply 2 brand new coats of our ultraviolet reactant finish, and cure it with our UV flash so it’s dry and ready for you to enjoy in a matter of seconds. That’s the One Day Floor Pro difference! “How can I tell if my floor qualifies for your one day hardwood floor refinishing service?” In some rare cases our one day hardwood floor refinishing service is not suited for extreme situations, we can let you know if you need our re-sand service or just simply refinish after a quick in-person inspection. Just click the button below to schedule your estimate now, and we’ll send one of our wood floor refinishing experts to your home at a time that’s most convenient for you. Our one day hardwood floor refinishing package is ideal for… Most hardwood floors Hardwood floors with moderate scratching or wear Newer hardwood floors that need a “pick me up” Hardwood floors that have been sanded multiple times And More Save Time – Save Money – One Day Wood Floor Refinishing!http://www.onedayfloorpro.com/hardwoo... Boston Herald 2015-04-02The ceremonial and non-metropolitan county of Somerset (i/ˈsʌmərsɛt/ or /ˈsʌmərsɨt/) in South West England borders Bristol and Gloucestershire to the north, Wiltshire to the east, Dorset to the south-east, and Devon to the south-west. It is partly bounded to the north and west by the Bristol Channel and the estuary of the River Severn. Its traditional northern border is the River Avon, but the administrative boundary has crept southwards with the creation and expansion of the City of Bristol, and latterly the county of Avon and its successor unitary authorities to the north. Somerset's county town, Taunton, is in the south.
Somerset is a rural county of rolling hills such as the Blackdown Hills, Mendip Hills, Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, and large flat expanses of land including the Somerset Levels. There is evidence of human occupation from Palaeolithic times, and of subsequent settlement in the Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods. The county played a significant part in the consolidation of power and rise of King Alfred the Great, and later in the English Civil War and the Monmouth Rebellion.
Gustav Theodore Holst (born Gustavus Theodore von Holst, 21 September 1874 – 25 May 1934) was an English composer. He is most famous for his orchestral suite The Planets.
His early works show the influence of Grieg, Wagner,Richard Strauss and fellow student Ralph Vaughan Williams, and later, through Vaughan Williams, the music of Ravel. The combined influence of Ravel, Hindu spiritualism and English folk tunes enabled Holst to free himself of the influence of Wagner and Strauss and to forge his own style. Holst's music is well known for unconventional use of metre and haunting melodies.
Holst composed almost 200 works, including operas, ballets, choral hymns and songs. An enthusiastic educator, Holst became music master at St Paul's Girls' School in 1905 and director of music at Morley College in 1907, continuing in both posts until retirement. He also taught singing at Wycombe Abbey School from 1912 until 1917.
He was the brother of Hollywood actor Ernest Cossart and father of the composer and conductor Imogen Holst, who wrote a biography of him in 1938.
Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known by her stage name Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Perry grew up with gospel music, and during her first year of high school she pursued a music career as Katy Hudson, releasing her first studio album called Katy Hudson which failed to chart. She recorded a solo album later, which was never released. After signing with Capitol Music Group in 2007, her fourth record label in seven years, she adopted the stage name Katy Perry.
She first gained recognition with the release of her first mainstream album, One of the Boys in 2008, which spawned three Billboard Hot 100 top-ten songs—"I Kissed A Girl", "Hot n Cold" and "Waking Up In Vegas". Perry supported the album with her Hello Katy Tour. In 2010, her third studio album, Teenage Dream (2010), which topped the Billboard 200 chart, and spawned five number one singles—"California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"—Teenage Dream was the only album (after Michael Jackson's Bad)—to do so, and the first female in history to achieve this milestone. She embarked on the California Dreams Tour, which grossed nearly $60 million worldwide. Perry re-released the album under the name of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection on March 26, 2012, and the re-release has already spawned the number-one single "Part of Me".
We met, deep down in Somerset
A time I can't forget
When we were sippin' cider in the shade
Oh the sun was setting in the West
You looked your very best that night
Stars were shining in your eyes
And we walked, walked all along the sand
And it felt, felt like a wonderland
And when the summer breeze was gone
The memory lingered on
You and me down in Somerset
Instrumental break
Oh we walked, walked and walked and walked all along the sand
And it felt just like our love just began
And when the summer breeze was gone
The memory lingered on, me and you
When the summer set
We met, we met, we met deep down in Somerset
I wrote a record to highlight you in song
By the time I was done, it was fall
The trees have lost their leaves
They look like skeletons
With piles on the on the ground from all their broken bones
The twenty minute drive felt more like twenty-four
And I can't shake the feeling of Somerset anymore
Stayed up late to reevaluate the meanings
See where I went wrong
Pass the cemetery
Get on the highway right by your house
It's the dead things that haunt me
