There are various championships held in a variety of sports on a European level:

Michael van Gerwen (born 25 April 1989 in Boxtel, Netherlands) is a Dutch professional darts player, nicknamed Mighty Mike. He is the youngest player in history to win a major televised tournament in either the BDO or the PDC, winning the 2006 Winmau World Masters at the age of 17. He is also the youngest player ever to compete at the BDO version of the World Professional Darts Championship, competing in the 2007 tournament at the age of 17 years, 257 days.

Michael reached the final of the Primus Masters Youth event at the age of just 14 in 2003. He then started to amass youth titles in 2005 including the German Open, German Gold Cup, Norway Open, Northern Ireland Open, Swedish Open and the Dutch National Youth Championship which he also defended in 2006. He also won the Men's events in the Norway and Northern Ireland Opens in the same year that he took the youth titles.

He picked up several Open titles and rose up the BDO/WDF World Rankings having climbed as high as third, even before he reached his 18th birthday.

Terry Jenkins (born 26 September 1963 in Ledbury, Herefordshire) is an English professional darts player who is nicknamed The Bull, having previously used the nickname "Tucker" for his matches. He has reached number four in the world rankings and has been runner-up in seven major PDC televised finals (the 2006 and 2007 Grand Prix, 2007 Premier League, 2007 Las Vegas Desert Classic, 2007 and 2009 World Matchplay and 2008 Grand Slam).

It is a common myth that Jenkins is one of only a few people to only play his darts in the Professional Darts Corporation when, in fact, Jenkins played in the BDO for a number of years, playing various opens from the early 90s up to 2003 even getting to the last 16 of the World Masters in 1998 Jenkins began to climb up the Professional Darts Corporation world rankings during 2005 by producing good performances in the tour events, which are played away from the television cameras. He won the Primus Masters in 2005^{[citation needed]} and added the Antwerp Open and the Open Hotel Zwartwater titles in 2006. Jenkins also played in several BDO events in the early stages of his career, including the Winmau World Masters where he once eliminated Tony O'Shea in the non-televised stages of the tournament. He is also often in attendance for the BDO World Championship, although he has never played in the competition^{[citation needed]}.

Stephen Bunting (born 9 April 1985 in Liverpool) is an English darts player who competes for the British Darts Organisation. His nickname is The Bullet. He is currently sponsored by A180 DARTS.

Bunting won both the British Teenage Open and the World Youth Masters in 2001 and also captured the WDF Europe Youth Cup in 2002. He made his BDO World Darts Championship debut in 2004 aged 18, where he beat Vincent van der Voort in the first round before losing in the second round to former World Champion Ted Hankey. He returned to Lakeside in 2005 but was beaten in the first round by John Henderson.

In 2008 Bunting won the Lytham St Annes Open and was also recalled to the England squad. In July 2008 he reached the quarter-finals of the BDO British Classic where he lost to Scotland's Ross Montgomery live on Setanta. In November 2008 Bunting captured his maiden BDO ranked open title when he won the Northern Ireland Open, beating fellow Cheshire player Darryl Fitton two sets to nil in the Final.

Bunting was successful in qualifying for the 2009 BDO World Darts Championship as the standby qualifier, but was beaten by Gary Robson in the first round.

Floria Guei (born May 2, 1990 in Nantes) is a French sprint athlete.
