Labour Party leader Ed Miliband gives a speech where he announces his wish to cut student tuition fees from £9,000 to £6,000. . Ironic that Ed Miliband wants to cut uni fees, as it was the Labour Party that introduced them in the first place, and it was Labour Party that did a 100% rise in the fees. Students too thick to research it was Labour that screwed them over in the first place - why vote for them now? Recorded from BBC News Channel HD, 27 February 2015.

Ed Miliband may be on the verge stepping down as leader of the Labour Party and for the past four years he has provided no shortage of cringe-worthy justifications for his early departure. Since he took control of the opposition in a 2010 battle with his brother David, Mr Miliband has been snapped and filmed in a unending stream of awkward moments. Labour leader Ed Miliband was challenged on Bite The Ballot's #LeadersLive about GCHQ, and the unlawful mass-surveillance it has been conducting on British & international citizens. Follow / contact me on Twitter ► http://www.twitter.com/MylesDyer Since the Edward Snowden revelations which exposed the mass-surveillance infrastructure that has been built by the US & UK governments, there has been hardly any push-back from the main political parties. I think this is outrageous, and mainly to do with policy being put through by politicians who know very little about the technology that is involved. I currently don't see the Labour Party as a real alternative to the Conservative party who has been eager to rush through so much legislation to allow the government to spy on innocent citizens, journalists, doctors and lawyers. How can democracy possibly function if our tax is being used to fund illegal acts of spying? After my set of questioning on this segment of Bite The Ballot's online show 'Leaders Live', the fantastic Tom Harwood took Edward Miliband on with some excellent points. Welcome to the Investors Trading Academy event of the week. Each week our staff of educators tries to introduce you to a person of interest in the financial world. This could be a person in government or banking or an important investors or trader. Ahead of the UK elections we will take a few minutes to take a look at the potential new head of the United Kingdom. At present the Prime Minister is David Cameron and his main opponent is Ed Miliband. In this video we will look at the challenger Miliband. Ed Miliband has promised higher living standards for working families as he set out Labour's five key pledges. Speaking at a pre-election rally in Birmingham, the Labour leader set out pledges, including a rise in the living wage and extending free child care. Mr Miliband, who has already promised more immigration controls and a "rescue plan" for the NHS, said the changes were fundamental for economic recovery. Labour party members were told: "We set out how we can replace a failed, tired government for the few with a government that is truly for all the people of Britain." Mr Miliband said the choice at the forthcoming general election was "not simply between parties and leaders, but different visions of our country". Edward is a British Labour politician and the Leader of the Labour Party. Born in London, Miliband is the son of Polish Jewish immigrants Marion Kozak and the late Marxist intellectual Ralph Miliband, who fled Belgium during World War II and the younger brother of David Miliband, the former Foreign Secretary whom he also contested and narrowly defeated in the 2010 Labour Leadership contest. Following the formation of the Conservative–Liberal Democrat coalition government in 2010, Gordon Brown resigned as Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party with immediate effect. In accordance with the Labour constitution, Deputy Leader Harriet Harman took over as Acting Leader and Leader of the Opposition. On May 14th, following his brother's announcement of his own candidacy the day earlier, Miliband announced that he would stand as a candidate for the leadership of the Labour Party. Miliband and his current partner Justine Thornton, a former child actress and a Cambridge-educated barrister live together in North London - where he grew up. They have one son, Daniel. Ed Miliband response to Budget 2015 Chancellor has failed working families of Britain, Ed Miliband took the Chancellor to task on subjects such as zero-hour contracts, minimum wage and the 'northern powerhouse'.
George Osborne used his last Budget of the parliament as a platform to target Ed Miliband personally, including jokes about the Labour leader's kitchens, brother and mother. Central to the Conservative re-election campaign is an assessment of Miliband's unpopularity with voters. With that in mind, the chancellor decided to step-up the attacks. In his response to the Budget, Miliband noted the personal attacks on him from Osborne. "Let me just tell him, we are not going to take lessons on fairness from the trust fund chancellor and the Bullingdon Club prime minister," he said. Announcing further investment in technology, Osborne mentioned the Internet of Things. Explaining the idea, he said: "Should, to use a completely ridiculous example, someone have two kitchens, they'll be able to control two fridges from the same mobile phone." The joke followed at least three gags from David Cameron during prime minister's question time about Miliband's kitchens. Last year the chancellor used an announcement of funding to celebrate the anniversary of the Magna Carta to poke fun at Miliband for beating his brother David in the Labour leadership contest. This year he made a similar joke via the battle of Agincourt. "We could not let the 600th anniversary of Agincourt pass without commemoration," he said. "Now the Battle of Agincourt is of course celebrated by Shakespeare as a victory secured by a band of brothers, which is sadly not an opine available to the party opposite." He added: "But it is, Mr Deputy Speaker, of course when a strong leader defeated an ill-judged alliance between the champion of a united Europe and a renegade force of Scottish nationalists". The joke did not go down well the shadow cabinet minister Angela Eagle, who tweeted: "The chancellor just spent £1 million on a naff contrived 'joke'." Osborne used the Budget to announce a review of deeds of variation - a method of changing a will after someone has died. Amid a row over tax avoidance, the Conservative Party deflected attention by accusing Ed Miliband of avoiding tax by benefiting from a deed of variation to his father will made by his mother. The Labour leader has denied he benefited and accused Cameron of trying to "smear mud". Today, Osborne said to Tory laughter: "I can also tell the House that we will conduct a review on the avoidance of inheritance tax through the use of deeds of variation. It will report by the autumn." He added: "We look to forward to drawing on the views of the leader of the Opposition." Miliband, responding to the Budget speech, said there had never been such a large gap between the Chancellor's rhetoric and the reality of people's lives. He condemned Osborne for failing to mention investment in the NHS or public services. He told MPs: "This is a Budget people won't believe from a government that is not on their side - because of their record, because of their instinct, because of their plans for the future."

Live on Sky News this afternoon, Danny Alexander tried to force Ed Balls to agree to a three-way televised chancellors debate. But failed. The Lib Dem chief secretary to the Treasury was involved in a spirited ding-dong with the shadow chancellor in a joint post-Budget appearance on the channel. Alexander, accusing Balls of being "vague" on Labour's policies, stuck out his hand and asked Balls to shake it and agree to a election debate. "Perhaps you and I could debate this," he said. "A three-way debate, if you and I shake. Come on Ed, shake on it." However Balls laughed and made sure his hands went no where near Alexander's grasp. Alexander said: "I don't know why he is willing to sign up to a debate with George Osborne but he is running away from a debate with me." On Sunday, Balls successfully ambushed Osborne on the Andrew Marr show into shaking his hand on a head-to-head chancellors debate. Today, Balls told Alexander he was happy to take part in a debate with all the parties Treasury spokespeople, but he wanted a head-to-head with Osborne as well. "I want a debate with the two serious parties, the two parties where the chancellor will come from. I'm not going to let George Osborne off the hook." Balls told Osborne on Sunday: "George is not a coward. David Cameron doesn't want a head-to-head with Ed Miliband but I'm very happy - I will have a head-to-head debate, just the two of us, the potential chancellors during the election campaign. He added: "You can say now - are you up for it?"
In his crucial Budget speech, George Osborne tries to pull off a tough balancing act – while Ed Miliband gets cross, and David Cameron becomes a little over-excited
Chancellor George Osborne has set out his final Budget before the election, saying Britain is "walking tall again" after five years of coalition government. However, Labour leader Ed Miliband described his plans as "a Budget that people won't believe", and said that the chancellor had "failed the working families of Britain". George Osborne undermines Labour's assault by softening austerity plan and matching pensions grab
Ed Miliband and David Cameron clashed over NHS figures and previous claims over protecting health services. The Labour leader used all six slots at prime minister's questions to ask about health services, the Conservative record on A&E;, maternity and cancer services, and campaigns to save threatened hospitals. The prime minister said voters would "never trust him with the future of our country" as he defended his government's health and economic records, peppered with barbs about press coverage of Mr Miliband's kitchens.
During the Budget 2015 announcements, George Osborne takes a crack at Ed Miliband's 'two kitchens' whilst explaining investment in technology.

Ed Miliband gets a bit too excited during his response to George Osborne's March 2015 Budget.
David Cameron 'accepts single multi-party TV debate offer' David Cameron says he has accepted an offer to take part in one seven-way TV debate at the beginning of April. The prime minister previously said he would not participate in a debate after the start of the campaign on 30 March. But he said the broadcasters had come back with a "formal offer" for a new format of TV election programmes, including one multi-party debate, which he said had signed up to. Labour leader Ed Miliband challenged him to agree to a head-to-head debate. Mr Miliband claimed the prime minister was going to "any lengths" to avoid debating him and said it was time for him to "face the music". Mr Cameron said the other parties must accept the new deal or "bear the responsibility" of the debates not going ahead. Labour has said it still backs the original plan for three debates held during the official election campaign. 'Stop running away' With the Lib Dems welcoming Mr Cameron's statement, the BBC's political correspondent Alex Forsyth said there appeared to be some "movement" to break the apparent stand-off between the parties. Weeks of wrangling between the political parties and the BBC, Sky News, ITV and Channel 4 has cast doubt on whether the leaders' debates first held in 2010 will be repeated before the 7 May poll. Earlier this month Mr Cameron rejected taking part in a head-to-head with Labour's Ed Miliband and said his "final offer" was to participate in a seven-way debate with the leaders of Labour, the Lib Dems, UKIP, the Green Party, the SNP and Plaid Cymru before the end of March David Cameron 'accepts single multi-party TV debate offer' David Cameron 'accepts single multi-party TV debate offer' David Cameron 'accepts single multi-party TV debate offer'

But on Tuesday he said he had accepted a deal put forward by the broadcasters to take part in a single debate involving the leaders of seven UK parties at the start of April. "There was a formal offer of a set of television programmes including a televised debate, put together by the broadcasters led by the BBC. As prime minister, I accepted that deal in full," he said. The PM added: "The other parties have now got to stop running away from this and agree to the debate that the broadcasters have now suggested." BBC deputy political editor James Landale said the development was "significant" as it was the first time the prime minister had formally accepted any offer from the broadcasters on the debates. But he cautioned that it did not mean any debate would definitely go ahead, saying Mr Cameron may have been "a touch premature" with his announcement. 'Election specials' Mr Miliband said he was "fighting" for a two-way debate between him and Mr Cameron - something he said the public wanted. "We now have a tawdry spectacle of a prime minister going to any lengths to avoid that debate," he added. Mr Miliband said the broadcasters had not put forward a new offer, and added that he would not "sanction a proposal, at this stage... that writes off the two-way debate between me and David Cameron". The Liberal Democrats said it was welcome news that the Conservatives had "finally agreed" to take part in "at least" one debate. "As we've always said, we will be there and are pleased that they are joining us. We look forward to hearing proposals from the broadcasters about how we move forward from here," a spokesman said. UKIP said it was unaware of the revised offer. "The only proposal that we are aware of from the broadcasters was for three debates - two of which UKIP were invited to. We intend to turn up for those two debates," a spokesman told the BBC. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon said that, in agreeing to debate during the campaign proper, Mr Cameron had staged an "inevitable climbdown". The Spectator's political editor James Forsyth said that as well as one debate, a series of "election specials" involving the party leaders has been proposed during the campaign. This would see David Cameron and Ed Miliband interviewed by Jeremy Paxman and then questioned by a studio audience in a Sky/Channel 4 special on 26 March, an event in which the two men would not share the stage. On 16 April there would be a "challengers" special involving the SNP, UKIP, Plaid Cymru and the Greens and finally, on 30 April, David Cameron, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg would each have separate half hours in a Question Time-style BBC event with David Dimbleby.
Plans for televised election debates have descended into chaos after David Cameron declared he had struck a deal to appear in a single face-off. The Prime Minister said the broadcasters had made him a "formal offer" that would see one debate held featuring seven party leaders on April 2nd, but two others - including a head-to-head with Ed Miliband - dropped.
Taken from BBC Parliament.
The Prime Minister has agreed to a single, seven-way TV leaders' debate in April. The proposed debate would be hosted by ITV on 2 April and follows new negotiations with broadcasters. But Labour wants TV executives to stick to their original proposal of three debates - including a one-on-one between David Cameron and Ed Miliband.
David Cameron softens his position on the debates - but Labour says he is still "running scared" of a face-off with Ed Miliband. The Irish Times 2015-03-31Edward Samuel Miliband (born 24 December 1969) is a British Labour Party politician, currently the Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for the South Yorkshire constituency of Doncaster North since 2005 and served in the Cabinet from 2007 to 2010 under Prime Minister Gordon Brown. He and his brother, David Miliband, were the first siblings to sit in the Cabinet simultaneously since Edward, Lord Stanley, and Oliver Stanley in 1938.
Born in London, Miliband graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford and the London School of Economics, becoming first a television journalist and then a Labour Party researcher, before rising to become one of Chancellor Gordon Brown's confidants and Chairman of HM Treasury's Council of Economic Advisers.
