Keir David Peters Gilchrist (born September 28, 1992) is a Canadian actor. Gilchrist is known for playing teen Marshall Gregson on Showtime's original series United States of Tara, and for starring in the 2010 drama-comedy It's Kind of a Funny Story.
Gilchrist was born in London, England, the son of Catherine and Ian Gilchrist. He has a brother, Evan. His maternal grandfather is Canadian banker, economist, and politician Douglas Peters, and his uncle is economist David Wilfrid Peters. Gilchrist spent his early years in London, relocating to Boston, Massachusetts during his childhood, and then New York City, before finally settling in Toronto, Ontario.
Gilchrist discovered his passion for acting at a young age, and his drama teacher persuaded him to become a professional actor. He attended the Annex Children's Theatre. Gilchrist portrayed Josh McKellar in Fox's short-lived television show The Winner, as well as Jamie, the boy who had developed a crush on Lizzie, on the show Life with Derek. Gilchrist more recently co-starred as Marshall Gregson on United States of Tara on Showtime, and played the lead role in the 2010 comedy-drama film It's Kind of a Funny Story.
