The 5-4-3 rule also referred to as the IEEE way (contrary to the Ethernet way) is a design guideline for Ethernet computer networks covering the number of repeaters and segments on shared-access Ethernet backbones in a tree topology. It means that in a collision domain there should be at most 5 segments tied together with 4 repeaters, with 3 segments containing active senders (i.e. terminals).
This rule is also designated the 5-4-3-2-1 rule with there being two network segments and one collision domain.
The 5-4-3 rule was created when 10BASE5 and 10BASE2 were the only types of Ethernet network available. The rule only applies to shared-access 10 Mbit/s Ethernet segments connected by repeaters or repeater hubs (collisions domains). The rule does not apply to switched Ethernet because each port on a switch constitutes a separate collision domain. With mixed repeated and switched networks, the rule's scope ends on a switched port.
According to the original Ethernet protocol, a signal sent out over the collision domain must reach every part of the network within a specified length of time. The 5-4-3 rule ensures this. Each segment and repeater that a signal goes through adds a small amount of time to the process, so the rule is designed to minimize transmission times of the signals.

Night on the Sun is an EP by alternative rock band Modest Mouse, released in 1999 as a Japan-only album, and again in 2000 as a 12" vinyl in the US and UK . The tracks on the Japan's Rebel Beat Factory label were taken from The Moon & Antarctica demos that were sent to Epic Records. The four tracks on 12" ended up on 2001s Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks. Extra percussion on I Came As A Rat (Long Walk Off A Short Dock) was provided by Ben Massarella and bass on You're the Good Things was played by Ben Blankenship .
Pitchfork Media compared the EP favorably to the works of The Velvet Underground, noting that the recording contained both characteristics of their earlier work as well as the musical direction taken after their major-label debut album, The Moon & Antarctica

At the time, I was also unemployed and I was facing an issue where I just felt like sh*t about myself,” she tells the audience at SUCCESS Live Long Beach. “The alarm would go off in the morning and all I could think about were all the things that were wrong with my life.” Then, one night, she saw a commercial with a rocket ship launching and thought, That’s it, that’s the answer. Eric Worre speaks with special guest, Mel Robbins, about her life-changing concept: the 5 Second Rule. Mel explains that her concept is so simple and obvious, it is almost stupid, but that doesn’t detract from the incredible power of it. She came up with it back in 2009 when she and her husband had hit rock bottom. She was struggling to get up in the morning and take action, until she saw a commercial with a rocket launching. She decided that she was going to start launching herself up in the morning by counting backwards from 5 like NASA. So, the next morning, she counted back from 5 – 5, 4, 3, 2, 1—and got up. The 5 Second Rule bridges the gap between knowing what you should do and getting off of your butt and doing it. Here’s how you use it: the moment you have the instinct to ac...

Here, Professor Puppet explains how to use your senses to help you feel better when you're anxious, sad, or upset. Here's what he has to say! When you’re worried or upset, you might need help to calm down. One thing that can help is listening to your senses. You find five things you see, four things you hear, three things you touch, two things you smell, and one thing you taste. Let’s try it! Okay, five things we see. I see a wall, my hand, a picture, a window, and my glasses. (point to each) How about you? (pause) Let’s try four things we hear. I hear a ceiling fan, the air conditioning, my breathing, and birds chirping outside. What do you hear? (pause) Now let’s list three things we touch. The best part of yesterday was listening to Mel Robbins - #5SecondRule LIVE for 1 hour. If you haven't purchased her book, do it now, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 GO!
Back in her law school days, Mel Robbins faced her anxiety like anyone else would―by seeing a doctor and taking the medicine she needed to stabilize her brain. Robbins never felt shameful about it, but one day she began to question whether she needed to do it. In a moment of curiosity, she asked herself two honest questions: Could I use the 5 Second Rule to master my thoughts? Will it end up curing my anxiety? When it comes to controlling anxious thoughts, Robbins says the difficulty lies in a tricky chemical response. Since there’s no chemical difference between feeling excited and anxious, you have to trick your brain into thinking the worry is joy. This is where the 5 Second Rule comes into play. “You use [the rule] in combination with what we call an anchor thought… a thought that m...
