Travel video about destination London in England. London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts. The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison. After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created. The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began. Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex. The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history.

Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are The title of this lecture is borrowed from a French gastronome who recognised the importance of what we eat in what becomes of us. While his was a more philosophical approach, this talk will look at how our diets affect our health and alter the risks of various diseases. Prof Forbes will use his background in clinical nutrition to explore examples used in medical practice, and those of a more epidemiological nature.

The variation in terrains at Skirmish Airsoft East Anglia always leads to an interesting day of firing plastic at each other. On Thursday 19th, March Chloe attended a Budget event hosted by Larking and Gowen at the John Innes Centre in Norwich. One of the highlights came in the Chancellor’s announcement that there will be additional funding for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Chancellor George Osborne announced that the East Anglian Air Ambulance is to receive a grant of 1.7 million from the LIBOR Fines Fund. The Chancellor’s announcement follows his pledge in December 2014 that all proceeds will be spent from Libor fines during this parliament on military and blue light causes. Chloe speaks about this positive announcement for Norwich North (the Air Ambulance base of operations ) and for East Anglia as a whole. -- Please give me your vote on May 7th -- Thank you for visiting my channel. Professor John Mitchell (School of Art, Media and American Studies) presents his inaugural lecture, ‘Ways of seeing: eyes and minds in the first millennium’. We see and we don’t see as our ancestors did. The visual culture of the first millennium, between the Atlantic and the Euphrates, is a protean beast, at times palpably clear, at others obscurely elusive. BBC News 2015-03-29East Anglia is a traditional name for a region of eastern England, named after an ancient Anglo-Saxon kingdom, the Kingdom of the East Angles. The Angles took their name from their homeland Angeln, in northern Germany. East Anglia initially consisted of Norfolk and Suffolk, but upon the marriage of the East Anglian princess Etheldreda, the Isle of Ely also became part of the kingdom. Formerly a standard statistical region, for administrative purposes East Anglia now forms part of the East of England government office region and is defined as a Level 2 Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics, comprising the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire including the city of Peterborough unitary authority area.
The Kingdom of the East Angles, formed about the year 520 by the merging of the North and the South Folk (Angles who had settled in the former lands of the Iceni during the previous century) was one of the seven Anglo-Saxon heptarchy kingdoms (as defined in the 12th century writings of Henry of Huntingdon). For a brief period following a victory over the rival kingdom of Northumbria around the year 616, East Anglia was the most powerful of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England, and its king Raedwald was Bretwalda (overlord of the Anglo-Saxons kingdoms). But this did not last: over the next forty years, East Anglia was defeated by the Mercians twice, and it continued to weaken relative to the other kingdoms until in 794, Offa of Mercia had its king Æthelberht killed and took control of the kingdom himself.
