Niagara Falls

As the Honeymoon Capital of the World, Niagara Falls is a huge tourist area, drawing millions of visitors each year. Each of the three waterfalls that make up the world-famous Niagara Falls can be seen from the Canadian side, meaning the city harbours a much larger tourist population than Niagara Falls, New York across the border. Capital Hill, which includes a Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, Hard Rock Café, Planet Hollywood, Louis Tussauds Wax Works and haunted houses, is a particular draw. The city also offers the aquatic theme park Marineland, Skylon Tower, Niagara Botanical Gardens, Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, and casinos.

In addition to tourism, the city of 83,000 includes manufacturing, professional services and commercial sectors of the economy. Niagara Falls also has a lengthy history as the site of the Battle of Lundy's Lane, now a National Historic Site, and as the home of famous Canadian heroine, Laura Second.
