Other Ways to Give

Friends of the Center support the fight for tolerance and justice with a modest, monthly gift. Their generosity helps the SPLC maintain a steady, reliable source of income to fund crucial efforts. Because our Friends’ support is so closely linked to our success, we send them a special “insider” view of our work and no longer send them additional requests for donations.

Many employers will match your charitable contribution, doubling your generous contribution and making an even greater impact on our future work. Some companies may even match gifts from retirees, board members, or employees’ spouses and dependent children.

Workplace giving, like the Combined Federal Campaign and United Way, offers a convenient way to support the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Our Partners will ensure that the SPLC is there to help the victims of injustice and intolerance in the future by extending their support beyond their own lifetimes. The SPLC’s long-term financial strength will be built in significant part by charitable bequests and other planned gifts.

Appreciated securities or mutual fund share, which you’ve owned for more than one year, are excellent charitable gifts. You’ll receive a charitable income tax deduction and avoid capital gains taxes.
Gifts of unmortgaged real estate provide a unique giving opportunity and may serve your long-term financial goals while benefiting the SPLC’s current and future work.
The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 extended the popular “IRA Rollover” through the end of 2013. If you are age 70 1/2 or older and own an IRA (traditional or Roth), you can make a charitable gift, up to $100,000 for each taxpayer, directly from your IRA to the SPLC. It can completely bypass your income for this year, and what’s more, it can count as your required minimum distribution.

Give directly from the donor advised fund on our website, or recommend the Southern Poverty Law Center for contributions from your gift fund.
