Malawi - The Warm Heart of Africa
In June I had the privilege to cooperate with the tourism Board of Malawi and work with a number of Malawian tourist companies to promote their services online, through shooting videos for their circulation on Youtube and websites. I traveled with my friend David Martin around the Blantyre region and then joined a number of missionaries in the northern district of Livingstonia. This video is a combination of what happened behind the scenes when traveling to film for the organisations I had links with. Malawi is a country with so much beauty and potential. However Malawi is among the worlds least developed countries, with most of its economy based in agriculture. The people I met were wonderful and I hope that this trip will have helped at least someone in the long run. For more information on what I got up to here is a link to my weekly blog when I was away. 1. https://medium.com/@bosert5/malawi-1-6c72c9bb6bd7 2. https://medium.com/@bosert5/malawi-2-f33ed53a196 3. https://medium.com/@bosert5/malawi-3-e8411dded479 4. https://medium.com/@bosert5/contrasts-933ce8031152 This was filmed using a Canon S120 which broke 14 days in after kayaking on Lake Malawi and the rest was done on a couple of Go-Pro Hero 3’s. "Massive destruction to agriculture, roads, bridges and general infrastructure including power facilities has complicated the situation due to prolonged power outages."Malawi President Peter Mutharika on Wednesday put the number of dead at 48.Declaring a state of emergency in the areas affected, he said an estimated 70,000 people had been forced from their homes. He appealed for international assistance, saying: "Tents and food are urgently required. Rescue operations are also a priority."Gift of the Givers said that 200,000 people had been displaced and 11,000 homes damaged. A day earlier, the U.N. humanitarian affairs agency, OCHA, put the number displaced at about 100,000.Medecins San Frontiers, also known as Doctors Without Borders, said Friday that around 20,000 people in the country's southern tip "remain cut off from the rest of the country without food, health care and ways to prevent possible outbreaks." The current flooding is due to weeks of heavy rain exacerbated by Tropical Cyclone Bansi, Gift of the Givers said. However, another storm due to arrive Sunday -- Tropical Cyclone Chedza -- could present even more of a threat.Chedza "is expected to be far more destructive than Cyclone Bansi bringing more heavy rains and greater flooding," Gift of the Givers said.Flood rescue and medical teams have been put on standby in case of the worst, it said. The organization said Malawi's military had already rescued more than 4,000 people, with the fear that many more are trapped in inaccessible areas.Floodwaters up to 6 feet deep have submerged homes and bridges, making access to some areas possible only by helicopter, MSF said. Workers in Malawi are using helicopters and boats to help rescue those cut off by deadly floods. Conflicting accounts from the southeast African nation put the number killed at anywhere from dozens to more than 170. In a statement, the government said that it had rescued more than 300 people by helicopter, and close to 1,300 were evacuated by boats. "As of Sunday, most people who were stranded had been rescued," the statement read. "But while more aggressive efforts are being made to provide people with essential relief assistance, there is still high need for more tents, food, kitchen utensils, essential medicines, dignity kits and water purifying chemicals, among others." The current flooding is because of weeks of heavy rain exacerbated by Tropical Cyclone Bansi, said Gift of the Givers, an African nongovernmental organization specializing in disaster response.

Alex Saul, Tanzania tour guide - Alex Saul, Tanzania trip leader Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa, bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north; Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south. Do in Tanzania ============ 1 - Safari While you are in Tanzania you may organize your safari to Serengeti and other National parks at an affordable price. If there's one trip that will change your perspective on life, it's an African safari. Contact some of the tour operators for Safari Details. 2 - Cultural Tours Touring Tanzania for culture is interestingly great as it encompasses more than 150+ ethnic groups. There is plenty of traditional food, cultural practices (such as hunting with bushmen, beeskeeping, traditional medicine) that one enjoys within the boundaries. You will also get to visit a number of locations that normally people would be completely unaware of. If you happen to be a person who loves to explore the world and meet new people in order to gain knowledge about different customs, a cultural tour is definitely the best type of vacation for you.The services are not expensive and can turn out to be cheaper than expected provided you get the right information on where to stay, best tour companies and just knowledge of what you want. This way, it will save you time and costs as well. 3 - There are loads of National Parks for those wanting to watch Tanzania's wildlife. You can gain entry for around $100 US and benefit from a tour (and perhaps a night's accommodation). The better parks, though packed with tourists, are found in the north of the country. Ruaha National Park is the best in the south (locals actually say this is the best park, especially if you want to see wild animals as opposed to semi-tame ones in the northern parks). Don't just be sucked into the tourist circuit in the north; the south offers great parks and towns (base yourself out of Iringa), and you will feel less of a tourist and more of a guest if you travel this way. 4 - Scuba diving in and around Pemba and Zanzibar is another good experience. 5 - You can also visit numerous historical Slave Trade sites, which could make for an interesting, if a little depressing, excursion. 6 - Beaches: Did you know that Tanzania has some of the best, most unspoiled beaches in the world? They are stunning, with their white sand, palm trees, and cool Indian Ocean water! 7 - Kayak the beautiful coastal waters with a tour operator. 8 - Tanzania has two of the best Stone Age sites in the world: Isimila Gorge (near Iringa) and the earliest known examples of human art among the rock paintings, near Kolo, north of Dodoma -- some of which are reckoned to be around 30,000 years old. 9 - Kilimanjaro is one of Tanzania's main attractions. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. Many visitors come to Tanzania to summit this great mountain. The main peak is estimated to be 5895m high making it a real challenge for mountaineers.

When Joyce Banda unexpectedly ascended to the presidency of Malawi last April, after the death of President Mutharika, many in her country and around the world wondered what her impact would be as Malawi's first woman president. Among the many challenges, her government faces high rates of maternal mortality, high total fertility rates, and high HIV prevalence among women and girls, combined with low levels of women's economic empowerment and widespread violence against women. CSIS wanted to learn more about how women leaders in Africa are bringing new attention to women's health and empowerment in their own countries, and to bring those voices into the discussion about U.S. policy priorities for women's global health. To do this, we sent a small team to Malawi and Zambia in December 2012. In this video, Malawi's President Joyce Banda talks to CSIS about the importance of women's health and empowerment in Malawi. http://www.pacificprime.com/countries/malawi/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj7hzhK_wJ8 We are one of the world's leading brokers advising on worldwide medical insurance policy. We work with all the main worldwide health insurance policies firms and have workplaces in Asia and Europe. Around the world we have over +120,000 clients, the greater part of our consumers are family members but we also operate with several of the world's foremost companies like l' oreal and unilever. Our experience is in providing guidance and service to people looking for extensive global medical insurance, specifically those residing in developing countries or abroad from their home country. We won't trade, loan, or otherwise share your details with any person or any other firm. As a matter of fact, if you want to remain totally nameless it's possible. Family health coverage policies are a really popular choice in Malawi indeed. They offer the insured the option to insure their entire family by buying a common policy. We are an informative site. The first thing to think about. Before starting to choose a policy, it is very important to take an honest analysis of your specific situation and requirements. If you are an expatriate right in Malawi or you are planning to relocate to the region in future, you may be contemplating buying medical insurance for yourself and your family, in particular if you have children. Are you tired of being given recommendations on plans that look like advantage the needs of the insurance company rather than you as the policy owner? We are an autonomous insurance adviser who will always put the interests of our clients before the partners. this means that you are provided with fair advice about various health insurance policies in Malawi that best fit you. In the last decade, we have continuously maintained our leadership in the Malawi insurance market. We do this by frequently judging not only the quality of service of our own firm, but also that of the insurance firms that we select to partner with. The greatest coverage providers are selected by us, based on their service quality and portfolio offerings. This assures that the highest level of coverage protection is provided to our clients. We work with over 60 insurance companies that provide a large variety of expat health coverage policies in the region. We are also able to provide recommendations regarding which facilities in Malawi are the most appropriate for the medical care of certain medical issues. What is maternity coverage ? The costs involved in having a baby abroad can be an huge financial load if insurance policy has not been taken out. Medical center fees all together with pre-natal, post-natal, labour and delivery fees and unforeseen difficulties can usually exceed usd 15,000. In the regrettable event of a child getting born with congenital problems the costs can much exceed this. Many expatriates are ignorant that having kids overseas can involve astronomical costs and planning in advance is very essential if devastating economic implications are to be averted. Chronic condition insurance in Malawi : Chronic condition are typically outlined as healthcare issues which you do not recover from but only manage and keep, for instance diabetes and bronchial asthma. Currently about fifty percent of the international healthcare insurance policies in the market offer coverage for chronic conditions. It is important to realize that the on-going treatment and administration of chronic conditions in Malawi can be really expensive as this kind of plans supplying this protection are generally far more pricey.

UCL is hosting an exhibition of photographs chronicling the university's involvement in a project to improve mother and and child health in rural Africa. The UCL Centre for International Health and Development established the MaiMwana Project in Malawi in 2002. Maternal mortality in the country is among the highest in the world and neonatal mortality is also high and accounts for almost half of all infant deaths. High mortality rates are partly a result of poor health care for mothers and their children thanks to a lack of drugs and supplies, high turnover of health service providers, variable service quality and lack of ownership by local communities. The MaiMwana Project aims to reduce mother and child mortality and morbidity by mobilising women's groups in local communities to take control of their own health issues. See the UCL video 'Umodzi' for more information and a subtitled video. Thanks to the award of a Beacon Bursary from UCL, these groups have used disposable cameras to document the impact the project is having on their lives. UCL is consistently ranked as one of the world's very best universities. As a multi-faculty, research-intensive university in central London, our research helps tackle global challenges and feeds directly into outstanding degree programmes. Visit us at www.ucl.ac.uk
Malawi Vice President's (Saulos Chilima) Donation to Nsipe Health Centre in Ntcheu, Malawi - November 2014
Health Poverty has a huge impact on the health of the population in Malawi. Poverty results in high levels of malnutrition, a lack of clean water, poor sanitation and a severe shortage or even absence of the most basic health care. Malawi's women and children are particularly affected: 183 in every 1000 children fail to reach their fifth birthday. In addition killer diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis and the HIV/AIDS pandemic also take an enormous toll on the lives and quality of life of families and communities across the country. MACS supports health care through: •Supporting 3 Anglican mission hospitals: St Anne's in Nkhotakota, St Luke's in Chilema and St Martin's at Malindi. •Each hospital is responsible for running rural health centres. There are 14 health centres in total and MACS has provided donations to each of them to help in the running of nutrition clinics. These clinics provide food and teach mothers the best way to feed their children. •Contributing to the training of nurses and midwives, by providing essential text books •Funding the installation of wells and bore holes to provide a clean water supply •Paying for the building of toilets and other means for improving sanitation. •Helping with the construction and repair of buildings such as staff houses •Providing drugs and medical equipment •Provision of an ambulance boat for Chizumuli island. •Provision of an ambulance for St Martin's Malindi •Contributing to the cost of refresher courses for Home Care workers in Nkhotakota

The University's Sport Malawi initiative has been running for 7 years and is focused on the potential of sport to impact positive change in Malawi communities by outreach programmes run by local people. Through partnership with churches, schools and the Sports Council of Malawi, teams of selected staff and students from the University go to Malawi to deliver training workshops annually in three main areas: sports outreach and youth mentoring, sports education, and sports coaching. This is not merely up-skilling for sports sake alone; rather how sport can be utilized to bring many added benefits that help tackle within a holistic approach challenges young people face in Malawi. Therefore, with the help of local partners, training is given on sports coaching, youth mentoring, HIV/AIDS awareness games, and gender and disability inclusion, to name a few. Sport Malawi is led by a passionate team of staff from the School of Sport and Exercise, The Institute of Education and Public Services, and Chaplaincy. The project is underpinned by a core set of values that emphasise the importance of listening to local needs, embracing a wide variety of partners who share the vision, and working with as opposed to working for local partners. In recent years the project has focused more in the north of the country in the city of Mzuzu. This has allowed a deeper level of interaction in one locality with a focused network of individuals and organisations doing sports outreach in communities around the city. Projects are now easier to link together, support and monitor -- and therefore a greater understanding of the Sport Malawi impact is emerging. Striving for Gender Equality in Africa Guest: Keni Banda – Founder/CEO Collectively, Malawi has a longstanding and troubled history when it comes to gender equality. One of the central aims of the Banda Bola Sports Foundation is to break down traditional gender roles and empower young girls through sports and education--two areas where women in Malawi are extremely underrepresented. To support the Banda Bola Sports Foundation in its initiatives to empower youth in Malawi, visit our FB. During December 2007 and January 2008, I visited my village of Chituka in Malawi, Africa. I brought soccer equipment and school supplies to the children there, as well as to young people in surrounding villages. The Malenga Mzoma Primary School alone has 500-600 students in grades 1 through 8. Bandawe Primary School, Macalpine Primary School, and Chifira Primary School have equal numbers. Children felt blessed to receive these gifts, and the smiles on their faces revealed their joy. Coach Banda worked with head teachers and sports masters to organize the first co-ed primary school soccer league. The Banda Bola Sports Foundation Scholastic Soccer League for Girls and Boys in Nkhata Bay District is the first of its kind in Malawi. It promotes attendance retention and graduate rates for primary schools. Its motto is “Sports for Education”. The league, which includes two teams from each of seven primary schools in the Bandawe zone of Nkhata Bay South district, has over 350 boys and girls participating. They are located opposite Senga Bay, 16km away from Salima Town and lie 3km from the shore in the remarkably clear waters of Lake Malawi. The Maleri Islands are 3 of the 13 islands that fall under the protection of Lake Malawi National Park, the first fresh water National Park in the world. Due to the large array of habitat types present on the archipelago, varying from rocky shorelines to small wild sandy beaches and from wooden hill sides to reedy lagoons, Maleri Islands are home to a wide range of animals species. Several kinds of unique cichlid fish occur exclusively around these islands and cannot be found anywhere else in Lake Malawi or anywhere else in the world. This fish are sheltered in the rocky formations and protected by a 100m no-fishing area. Mammals include duikers, bush babies, otters and hippo on the mainland shores. Reptiles include mainly monitor lizards and snakes. The islands are rich with bird life, with over 300 spices represented. Some common species are fish eagles, hornbills, herons, weavers, owls and kingfishers. The islands are also an important nesting areas for white-throated and long-tailed cormorants. Common trees include adansonia digitata baobabs, brackystegia bussei, tamarind and fig trees. The islands are of exceptional beauty, with the rift valley mountains as a backdrop, the Linthipe river-mouth's rich biodiversity on one side, the lively fishing villages, the northern coastline and a grand endless view of the lake to the north. All of the Islands are un-inhabited but Lake Malawi National Park Authorities have given special concession to Blue Zebra to developing its exclusive Lodge in order to support and maintain their conservation activities in this area. The Lodge itself is based on Nankoma Island. ....................... All Africa 2015-03-24Malawi ( /məˈlɑːwi/; Chichewa [malaβi][need tone]), officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country in southeast Africa that was formerly known as Nyasaland. It is bordered by Zambia to the northwest, Tanzania to the northeast, and Mozambique on the east, south and west. The country is separated from Tanzania and Mozambique by Lake Malawi. Malawi is over 118,000 km2 (45,560 sq mi) with an estimated population of more than 13,900,000. Its capital is Lilongwe, which is also Malawi's largest city; the second largest is Blantyre and the third is Mzuzu. The name Malawi comes from the Maravi, an old name of the Nyanja people that inhabit the area. The country is also nicknamed "The Warm Heart of Africa".
The area of Africa now known as Malawi was colonized by migrating tribes of Bantu around the 10th century. In 1891 the area was colonized again, this time by the British. In 1953 Malawi, then known as Nyasaland, became part of the semi-independent Central African Federation (CAF). The Federation was dissolved in 1963 and in 1964, Nyasaland gained full independence and was renamed Malawi. Upon gaining independence it became a single-party state under the presidency of Hastings Banda, who remained president until 1994, when he was ousted from power. Joyce Banda (no relation) is the current president, raised to that position after president Bingu Mutharika died in 2012. She is the first female leader in Malawi. Malawi has a democratic, multi-party government. Malawi has a small military force that includes an army, a navy and an air wing. Malawi's foreign policy is pro-Western and includes positive diplomatic relations with most countries and participation in several international organizations.
She's still blue eyed
Possibly
Then again
She couldn't be
One, two, she knows kung foo
Three, four, Kicked in my door
Five, six, I can't believe it
What a mess I made...
She might she might
She might shake up everything I am
She might she might
She might Make me do the best I can
Uh Oh ohh what have she done
Uh Oh she might be her, she might be the one
I'm into deep,
Probably...
Then again,
How could I be... ?
One, two, she just got through
Three four, what an uproar,
Five six she moves me out
And throws me to the way
She might she might
She might shake up everything I am
She might she might
She might make me do the best I can
Uh Oh ohh what have she done
Uh ohh she might be her,
She might be the one...
Her eyes are shining like a midnight sun
Oh, the countdown is begun
Five, four, three, two, one
She might she might
She might shake up everything I am
She might she might
She might make me do the best I can
Uh Oh Ooh what have she done
Uh Oh Ooh what have she done
She might she might
She might be her,
She might be the one,
If I had a way to get out of this day
If I had a way I'd get out today
Man, I would run away, man, I would run
'Cause these walls block out the sun
Yeah they block out the sun
Today I've got nothing to lose
I could go wherever I wanted to
Leave, jump onto the world
If I had a way to get out of this deal
If I had a way I'd break the deal
Man, I would grab the wheel, and man, I will drive
5000 miles just to survive, 5000 miles
Today I've got nothing to lose
I could go wherever I wanted to
Leave, jump onto the world
As it's spinning 'round, going down
Taking me along for the ride
For the ride
Today I've got nothing to lose
I could go wherever I wanted to
Today I've got nothing to lose
I could go wherever I wanted to
Leave, jump onto the world
Today I've got nothing to lose
I could go wherever I wanted to
Leave, jump onto the world
As it's spinning 'round, going down
Taking me along for the ride
If I had a way I'd get out today
Life always dumps something in your lap
You're constantly busy redrawing your map
You leave behind a fading trail
Of images and words that you hope will prevail
Life always dumps something in your way
You try to make the best of it everyday
You could give up and give in but you prefer
To keep hoping some kind of change might occur
Just hoping some kind of change might occur
Misery sure loves company
And nobody's ever who they seem to be
The daily horror of people at their worst
And most selfish, one day, your bubble will burst
So much time should not have passed
At least not that way and not so fast
It wasn't always easy, it wasn't always fun
But it was always worth it, regrets i have none
It was always worth it, regrets i have none
Life always dumps something so you should try.
To acknowledge the fact you're surrounded by
These relics of a life that no longer exists
Your name still appears on the waiting lists
Life always dumps something that makes things worse
There are no rules in this self-help universe
It's never what you were expecting to find.
There's darkness ahead and there's darkness behind.
There's darkness ahead and there's darkness behind.
She work it girl, she work the pole
She break it down, she take it low
She fine as hell, she about the dough
She doing her thing out on the floor
Her money money, she makin' makin'
Got the way she shakin'
Make you want to touch it, make you want to taste it
Have you lustin' for her,
go crazy face it
She's so much more than you're used to
She know's just how to move to seduce you
She gone do the right thing and touch the right spot
Dance in you're lap till you're ready to pop
She always ready, when you want it she want it
Like a nympho, the info
I show you where to meet her
On the late night, till daylight the club jumpin'
If you want a good time, she gone give you what you want
Baby It's a new age,
You like my new craze
Let's get together
Maybe we can start a new phase
The smokes got the club all hazy,
Spotlights don't do you justice baby
Why don't you come over here,
you got me saying
Aayooh
I'm tired of using technology,
Why don't you sit down on top of me
Aayooh
I'm tired of using technology
I need you right in front-- of me
In her fantasy, there's plain to see
Just how it be, on me, backstrokin',
Sweat soaking
All into my set sheets
When she ready to ride, I'm ready to roll
I'll be in this bitch till the club close
What should I do, on all fours
Now that that shit should be against the law
Different style, different move,
Damn I like the way you move
Girl you got me thinking about,
All the things I'd do to you
Let's get it poppin' shorty
We can switch positions
From the couch to the counters in my kitchen
Baby It's a new age,
You like my new craze
Let's get together
Maybe we can start a new phase
The smokes got the club all hazy,
Spotlights don't do you justice baby
Why don't you come over here, you got me saying
Aayooh
I'm tired of using technology,
Why don't you sit down on top of me
Aayooh
I'm tired of using technology
I need you right in front of me
Ooh she wants it, Ooh she wants it
Hmm she wants it, I got to give it to her
She wants it, Hmm she wants it
Hmm she wants it, I got to give it to her
I got to give it to her
Baby It's a new age,
You like my new craze
Let's get together
Maybe we can start a new phase
The smokes got the club all hazy,
Spotlights don't do you justice baby
Why don't you come over here, you got me saying
Aayooh
I'm tired of using technology
Why don't you sit down on top of me
Aayooh
I'm tired of using technology
you came over
like a midnight appetite
nobody believes me now
I ran across and
saw a thousand people on my way
on my way on my way out
one of it, two of it
one of it, we'll make
the most of it
you'll love it
one of it, two of it
one of it, we'll make
the most of it
you'll love it
(you left me out there
in the early morning rain
why would you believe me now)
baby clown climing
dancing al of broken rules
don't worry she's tierd now
I'm only trying
to protect my point of view
I want you to let me in
one of it, two of it
one of it, we'll make
the most of it
you'll love it
one of it, two of it
one of it, we'll make
the most of it
you'll love it
and you'll try
to give me something
to give me something
I'll do something
I'll do something
let's try
one of it, two of it
one of it, we'll make
the most of it
you'll love it
one of it, two of it
one of it, we'll make
the most of it
you'll love it
can you count me in
Lover there's something I should
Confess, I've been misunderstood
I really fucked up, it doesn't make sense
I've got no choice but to accept the consequence
Mama, there's something I'd like
To tell you before they arrive
'Cause in a couple of hours, at the first light of day
Some men will come and take me away
Sister, don't weep, it's my fault
That I will die before I get old
And now I just wish that I could shed my skin
And sneak away from the mess that I'm in
Father, give me back my grace
The End is a time and a place
Where certain people'll be rewarded for perfection but a
liar
the words she means are those she doesn't say
so slowly running out of things to say
she was not afraid to ring a bell or two
there's no one who can tell her how to feel
I just wish that I could help her out
but I'm part of the problem it turns out
she was not afraid to ring a bell or two
and I'm part of the problem it turns out
I noticed she thinks I have figured it all out
surely I get by
but know this: I'm confidently pretending
but that's hard when you don't have
an excuse to try
the words she means are those she doesn't say
so slowly running out of things to say
she was not afraid to ring a bell or two
she was not afraid to ring a bell or two
I'm part of the problem it turns out
I noticed she thinks I have figured it all out

we're almost halfway there
still getting you nowhere
wrap it in a cloud
Hey man, I'm tired of working all day
I'm turning into a daysleeping walking cliche
Hey man, let's wait until daylight fades
And we'll join the dreamers and renegades
Hey, have you heard the radio news
They say that soon all hell will break loose
Me, I am trying to do my part
But really changing the world seems so hard
Hey man, I'm tired of working all day
I'm turning into a daysleeping walking cliche
Hey man, let's wait until daylight fades
And we'll join the dreamers and renegades
Girl, let's just empty this bottle of booze
And swirl all night in our dancing shoes
Hey man, I'm tired of working all day
I'm turning into a daysleeping walking cliche
Hey man, let's wait until daylight fades
We'll join the dreamers and renegades
Hey hey hey, just you and me girl, what do you say
Hey hey hey, just you and me girl, what do you say
Hey man, I'm tired of working all day
Hey man, I'm tired of working all day
I'm turning into a daysleeping walking cliche
Hey man, let's wait until daylight fades
And we'll join the dreamers and renegades
We'll join the dreamers and renegades
Dreamers and renegades
Dreamers and renegades
If I could plant a tree for every time
I used to hear you say
Life runs through your hands like water
Our backyard would be a forest now
Sometimes I feel like I am running out of time
Just like you did everything I do reminds me of you
If I had a cent for every place
We never got to go
Between Africa and our house
Maybe I would be a billionaire
Sometimes I feel like I am running out of time
Just like you did everything I do reminds me of you
If I had a brick for every word
That we forgot to say
Everything you never told me
Maybe I'd be building bridges now
Sometimes I feel like I am running out of time
Because you did everything I do
Sometimes I feel like everything I do reminds me of you
an eyelash on your cheek crashed down and broken
decided to leave so it jumped on a tear
since '94 you've been wanting to grow up
since '94 been trying to get out of here
I don't wanna find out whatever I needed
I'm way too afraid of what I could find
you're losing the thread while I'm losing my head
I wish that I will make up my mind
don't write me off
because I should try hard enough
I just need a little more time
don't write me off
because I haven't tried hard enough
I just need a little more time
the closer we get the more it looks like we've made it
I finally like this time of year
the closer you look we get less overrated
I hope that next week you'll still be here
an eyelash on your cheek crashed down and broken
decided to leave so it jumped on a tear
since '94 you've been wanting to grow up
against the wall
looking like a princess down the hall
who is starting to want something so badly that it hurts
now she hopes it's not too late
she drinks a lot
and figures out she's everything he's not
she is starting to want something so badly that it hurts
and now she hopes it's not too late to start to play
they must find a new name for this sullen silver game
it's time to go
now that she knows more than she wants to know
she is starting to want something so badly that it hurts
and now she knows that it's too late to stay
change has never been a decision it just happens
Stephanie always makes a lot of plans
She has decided, she has decided
She is gonna leave
As soon as high school ends
In a house where no one ever cares
In her room in the attic, room in the attic
She wakes up to the sound of footsteps
On the stairs
If it's true what they, what they say
Stephanie has gone away
If they're right, if they're right
Stephanie took off last night
Stephanie lives with a mother and son
Who can no longer hide it, no longer hide
Their hate for her
Because she is daddy's favorite one
On an August night in 2OO4
At the end of the summer, end of the summer
When they enter her room
A baseball bat falls on the floor
If it's true what they, what they say
Stephanie has gone away
If they're right, if they're right
Stephanie took off last night
Do you know that Billy Joel song
It says only the good die young
If they're right, if they're right
Stephanie was killed last night
Stephanie always made a lot of plans
She had decided, she had decided
She was gonna leave
As soon as high school ended
On that terrifying August night
Down by the river, down by the rever
Is where Stephanie was left after she died
If it's true what they, what they say
Stephanie has gone away
If they're right, if they're right
Stephanie was killed last night
If they'r right
Stephanie was killed last night
She never really wanted much
Listen up and take a minute I need to tell you why
I do the things the way I do and weeks are flying by
I'm trying to fill a void in my life these days
By filling it with work and work
And accomplishments and praise
Anything that keeps me busy anything that keeps me up
Cause if I start to let it out I think I'm never gonna stop
Afraid I'm never gonna stop
Listen up and take a minute wherever you are
I've been mourning you with the bottle and with my guitar
For this song I sat myself down to put in words
What's underneath and what's unsaid
How much this whole thing hurts
How much this whole thing hurts
Listen up just take a minute I need to tell you why
I do the things the way I do so months are flying by
Since you're gone it isn't always easy all I do is run
But the hardest part the hardest part
Was growing up your son
Where I'm from there are no mountains
And time is standing still
Where I'm from there's barely space left
Still they're running up a hill
Where I'm from they don't like changes
Even if alarm bells ring
Where I'm from they have a princess
Where I'm from they have a king
Where I'm from they don't like dreamers
They are told to shut their mouth
Where I'm from they're divided
Between the North and the South
Where I'm from it's like a long night
That never turns to day
Where I'm from the kingdom's trembling
Where I'm from they've lost the way
Sing it loud today
Sing it loud today
I'm singing it loud today
I am the one that got away
Where I'm from they just keep rooted
Heads are always hanging low
Where I'm from the Congo River
Never got nowhere to go
Where I'm from words are repeated
But they never really rhyme
Where I'm from the kingdom's trembling
Where I'm from they're losing time
Where I'm from there's a lack of heroes
Both in politics and song
Where I'm from the more they fix it
The faster everything goes wrong
Where I'm from I still remember
So I will sing it every day
That this kingdom is still my kingdom
Here in the city the measure is frozen
Billboards are screaming nothing is real
In every small town there's air you can breathe in
It's not about the money or fast food on wheels
The lights are too bright for my eyes
Inside there's a feeling that rings like a bell
I've had enough and I long for the silence
This place hasn't treated me well
I have decided to leave this city
These buildings and people bring me down
I have decided to leave this city
I think that I'm gonna move to town
Here in the city no one's connected
Careers are controlling everyone's lives
In every small town there's barely possession
Mothers aren't burdens or grandfathers' wives
I won't make a sound
I won't follow this merry-go-around
That keeps going round with or without
Me I'm leaving I'm leaving I'm leaving
Tomorrow I'll make my way out of the city
Tomorrow I'll hop on a train or a bus
I'll never stop running away from cities
Your clothes spread out on the floor just like it was
before
A homerun is a hit I'll never score
The hours before the break of dawn are as fragile as a
song
And can go on and on and on and on and on
We wait for the light to break through the summer night
I hope I run into you tomorrow
And I hope you will talk to me until
The morning comes, until the morning comes
Looking for my clothes on the floor, I gently close the
door
In times like these, you're all I'm looking for
I swear to God I know that I want to struggle to get by
The fact that all the good things someday die
Because all the good things someday die
We wait for the light to break through the summer night
I hope I run into you tomorrow
And I hope you will talk to me until
The morning comes, until the morning comes
The morning comes, until the morning comes
Til the morning comes
Til the morning comes
We wait for the light to break through the summer night
I hope I run into you tomorrow
And I hope you will talk to me until
The morning comes, until the morning comes
The morning comes, until the morning comes
Again there's blood in your mouth
Because you keep stumbling into walls
It seems like you got signed up
For a portion of trouble every week
Look at this bloody mess
And take a good look at your heart
It shouldn't be bleeding for
Him or for this fucked up world
I've got something to say
I've got something to say
Things are not always as bad as they seem
The saddest smile in history
How she looked at me
The way our lives are passing us by
Lie after lie
Tonight your luck ran out
You may scream real loud
You won't get away
I'm gonna make you pay
Until I am done with you
There's nothing you can do
Nowhere you can hide
This city's on my side
A classic case of too little too late
At a quarter to eight
No second thoughts 'cause this Saturday night
Calls for a fight
Tonight your luck ran out
You may scream real loud
You won't get away
I'm gonna make you pay
Until I am done with you
There's nothing you can do
Nowhere you can hide
A Brussels Is on My Side
Every place
where I'll find you
(Cause I will find you)
Every place
Looks the same in the dark
Tonight your luck ran out
You may scream real loud
You won't get away
I'm gonna make you pay
Until I am done with you
There's nothing you can do
Nowhere you can hide
Coming of age ain’t about what you do
It’s giving in to what’s predefined
When you trade all your dreams for compromise
It is never what you have in mind
One shot of happy, two shots of sad
That’s how our lives are aligned
The path that you chose has got highs has got lows
But it’s never what you have in mind
I must say that I still wonder why it disappears
Must say that I still wonder why
The years keep tumbling by
Coming of age ain’t about who you meet
It’s about the people who leave you behind
Your brothers, your parents, your lovers, your friends
It is never what you have in mind
One shot of happy, two shots of sad
We know we might run out of time
But when it comes to living, dying is the easy part
Not exactly what you had in mind
I really doubt that I’ll find out why it disappears
I really doubt that I’ll find out
What these years are all about
You might ask if these thoughts that I just summed up
Are of any importance to you
Maybe not but when things don’t turn out like you
planned
It helps to know that they never do
Besides, if each shot of happy
Comes with only two shots of sad
Then coming of age is not so bad
Then coming of age is not so bad
Only when you're in California
You drive along the coast
The towns you pass are often ruthless
They leave you chasing ghosts
Leave you chasing ghosts
I'm dreaming of blue skies
If I what if I close my eyes
I rush down the freeway
Slowly peeling back my brain
Fighting for patience
While moving to a faster lane
I'm trying to enjoy the California rain
Someone sang that when you're lonely
You end up back and forth
Tonight I'm leaving San Diego
I take the 5 up North
I'm chasing blue skies
I grew up in the 90's at least that's what I tried
looking for ways to be satisfied
I went to San Diego to try out my luck
came back 12 months later and again I was stuck
I felt like a goldfish stuck in a bowl
I was waiting for something that I could control
after 2000 no longer a kid
the world didn't end but something else did
when my father takes off I'm already 19
he wasn't as happy as I thought he seemed
if this is my screenplay I don't like my role
these are the things that you just can't control
although I feel a lot older I'm just 23
if you're looking for answers don't come to me
instead of a future I've got a guitar
but dreaming out loud won't get me far
still I feel I'm ready for rock'n roll
cause there might be something that I can control
by the time I hit 30 I'll have enough
of being a twentysomething in love
my friends will all be married or they will be gone
I'll still be wondering what's going on
if that's what it takes then I'll sell my soul
as long as there's something that I can control
one day I'll wake up and I'll be 38
doing the things I used to hate
the trick to forget the bigger picture is when
you look at everything in close-up as often as you can
our revolution is covered in mold
cause there's only so much you can control
this is no anthem because anthems are proud
and pride isn't something this is about
I shouldn't care shouldn't care
but I do and that's sometimes too hard to bear
still walking the same road with my shoes full of holes
waiting for something that we can control
if I ever reach 50 or 65
too early to tell if I'll still be alive
we were born in the 80's and now we are here
my generation's dream will disappear
I'm at a graveyard passing the rows
a silent surrender we'll never get close
this is my story you swallowed it whole
I like to read stories from the bottom of the world
Although they’ve all been told before
You wanna stay 25 for a couple more years
But be careful with what you’re wishing for
Because in a minute it might be gone, gone, gone
I like to watch stories from the bottom of the world
Because they’re truly prefunded
Is that a lesson’s now that grades wrong
You would think so by looking around
In a minute, it might be gone
Falling down, shaking it’s letting go
Launching ships, all the time
Falling down, shaking it’s letting go
Launching ships, all the time, all the time
I like to tell stories from the bottom of the world
Don’t care that it’s been done before
Just remind yourself that you should try
To care less and sunbathe more
Because in a minute it might be gone
Falling down, shaking it’s letting go
Launching ships, all the time
Falling down, shaking it’s letting go
Launching ships, all the time, all the time
This is the legend of eight sisters, Herald was the
famous one
It happened twenty years ago although the sea was calm
It was 1987 and winter nearly gone
On that Friday running late with rolling off and
rolling on
Trucks and cars were sleeping door by door and side by
side
Someone had to close the back door
That day it must have slipped his mind
He was fast asleep in his cabin, tired from cleaning
out the hall
While passengers were eating, indulging duty-free-for-
Herald of Free Enterprise
Herald of Free Enterprise
Herald of Free Enterprise
In just ninety seconds, right down to the wire
Sailing with the doors wide open so the waves kept
pouring in
As they passed the Outer Mole the disaster could begin
An a hundred yards from the shore right outside a
Belgian port
The lights went out the ship turned around and fell to
starboard
Then nothing but silence, silence and the cold
Herald and her sisters never fit the mold
Herald of Free Enterprise
Herald of Free Enterprise
Herald of Free Enterprise
In just ninety seconds, right down to the wire
Two months later she was refloated a final one-way trip
exchange
Pensioned off into the Thirld World
Where they named her Flushing Range
And in ’88 she broke in two, probably because of guilt
Pride and Spirit changed their names
They were all doomed since they were built
Herald of Free Enterprise
Herald of Free Enterprise
Herald of Free Enterprise
In just ninety seconds, right down to the wire
This is the legend of eight sisters, Herald was the
famous one
It happened twenty years ago although the sea was calm
I was just a boy then, holding daddy’s hands
When I was little I wanted to be king
I built castles in the air but never found my way in
For a week I was Rambo but couldn't take the pace
Then I thought I'd be a rocket man
But never made it into space
All my life I tried so many things I couldn't do
But I can't think of anything I wouldn't try again
Try again for you
I worked to be a wizard I tried it for a year
I had five white rabbits but not one would disappear
I dreamed of being a fireman but that went up in flames
Said okay I'll be a cowboy
But it turned out I'm no Jesse James
All my life I tried so many things I couldn't do
But I can't think of anything I wouldn't try again
Try again for you
I played guitar in a band and finally got laid
Then we fell apart as soon as bills needed to be paid
Got a job in a restaurant where I burned every dish
Was a sidewalk Santa Claus
But I couldn't grant one single wish
I set off to see the world it finally felt right
But I got lost the second day
Sso I went home the following night
All my life I tried too many things I couldn't do
But I can't think of anything I wouldn't try again try again
No I can't think of anything I wouldn't try again try again
You always wanted to be
Part of a circus company
For the fun and death defying
But in time you forgot life is small in the big top
And your dreams were slowly dying
What you wanted was not a crime
You could've done it
Now you're always just a little
A little in the middle
A little in the middle of where you're bound
Always just a little in the middle
It keeps your head from spinning round
Jugglers walk on the wire
Lions leap through hoops of fire
As the acrobats go flying
But what's the show all about
When did your north get turned to south
And the truth turn to lying
What you wanted was not a crime
You could've done it but you needed time
But it's a hole you're digging
A hole you're digging you're doing it despite
The so much more you're missing
I'm gonna move to Canada
Yeah I've made up my mind
Leave everything behind
I'll catch a plane, fly away from this rain
I'm gonna move to Canada
I'm gonna meet Neil Young
I just know we'll get along
Show up at his house
Convince him and his spouse
I'll pick up my guitar and play
A couple of my songs
A couple of my songs
A couple of my songs
That I'll sing at the top of my lungs
I'm gonna move to Canada
Yeah I've made up my mind
Leave everything behind
I'll catch a plane, fly away from this rain
Mister Young will be impressed
And offer me a record deal
And tell me to call him Neil
We'll have a ball until Canada's too small
Then I'll pack up my guitar and I
Will move to the US
I'll move to the US
I'll move to the US
To be a sensational succes
I'm gonna move to Canada
Yeah I've made up my mind
Leave everything behind
I'll catch a plane, fly away from this rain
After Canada the USA is a piece of cake
All the sales records I'll break
"The Best Thing Since The Beatles"
Is what magazines will write
With my guitar and band
I will conquer every town
I'll conquer every town
I'll conquer every town
Me, the singing rock'n roll clown
I still wanna move to Canada
But for now I'll just stay here
I think it's best for my career
When I get home from the office
Where I've worked all my life
I pick up my guitar and play
A couple of my old songs
A couple of my old songs
A couple of my old songs
And I think: "Damn"
"Neil Young would have loved these songs,
He would have loved these songs"
Maybe next year
Maybe next year
Maybe next year
Maybe next year
It's in taxis it's on trains
In airports hopping planes
The silence moving on contains
It's in all the in-betweens
In the day to day routines
In over 15 million dreams
It's in trying to close the door
It's never gonna stop
It's in how you're looking for
A way to make it stop
It's in missing someone more
It's never gonna stop
No it's never gonna stop
It's like trying to fly trapeze
Like has-beens gonna-bes
Ill at ease and hard to please
It's how Paris how Cologne
How even Zurich feels outgrown
It's in the way you could have known
Can you make some room for me
Can you make some room for me
It's in trying to close the door it's never gonna stop
Mama rise on the couch in her old wedding gown
She turned pale long before the carnival had left town
She stares at the front porch on the outlook for dad
"Don't worry, I'll be back in a week" is the last thing
he said
We all knew he gambled in the city and lost
Money we didn't have must've be the line that he
crossed
It's been over a year instead of a week
Here in our house, our house by the creek
Me and my family live in the Netherlands
In the house that he build with his bare hands
My younger brother Jimmy is playing outside
With his cap gun he tries to shoot planes from the sky
In his chair by the window sits uncle Fred
Since he's back from the war there ain't a word he has
said
And Fred calls my sister as she passed away sir
Sometimes in my dreams I catch up with dad and with her
What we end up with is not what we seek
Here in our house, our house by the creek
My name is Louis, it's Louis, all right
I play dad's old accordion all day and all night
I just turned eleven, so I'm still a kid
But when I grow up I wanna find out what daddy did
Mister believe me, I was thought not to cry
And that family should stay together 'till the day that
you die
Yeah mister believe me, I was taught boys don't cry
And that the town where you're born is the town where
you’ll die
That the town where you're born is where you’ll
probably die
What did God wanna show when He created man weak
Tt took a while, but now I see
My old man worked for the KGB
The government found out about
His work and had to take him out
It took a while but now I see
Why dad was such a mystery
Sometimes you cheat, sometimes you lie
It part of the job when you're
When you're a spy
It took a while but now I see
My old man worked for the KGB
The government found about
His work and had to take him out
Sitting in the yard I didn't understand
Holding his dead body in my hands
Now it's getting clear to me
My dad he worked for the KGB
On the fourth of March in his backyard
The sniper shot him in the heart
He was only fifty-three
But a hero for the KGB
And a hero for the KGB
And a hero
can I be excused
from what I was doing but what was I doing
I need to buckle up
we make noise so pretty that closing time is only
a matter of time
as far as I'm concerned
we lost by a landslide and I think that just might
keep pissing me off
I didn't see it coming I never see it coming
not even this time
isn't a wake-up call
supposed to tell you something
call me again sometime
now I just learned nothing
need to explain
to me over coffee why you said this could be
the worst day of the year
as far as I'm concerned
I won't get into the fact we turned into
a couple of ghosts
yearning to burn and yearning to rise and
yet locked in time and space
isn't a wake-up call
supposed to tell you something
call me again sometime
now I just learned nothing
need to explain
to me over coffee why you said this could be
the worst day of the year
as far as I'm concerned
I won't get into the fact we turned into
a couple of ghosts
a couple of ghosts
sometimes everything seems awkward and large
imagine a Wednesday evening in march
future and past at the same time
I make use of the night start drinking a lot
although not ideal for now it's all that I've got
it's nice to know your name
You don't know you don't know
you don't know anything about me
an ocean a lake I need a place to drown
let's freeze the moment cause we're going down
tomorrow you'll be gone
you're laughing too hard this all seems surreal
I feel peculiar now what do you feel
do you think there's a chance that we can fall
you don't know you don't know
you don't know anything about me
what do I know I know your name
you don't know you don't know
you don't know anything about me anymore
I gave up dreaming for a while
I gave up dreaming for a while
I've noticed these are mysterious days
I look at it and like a jigsaw puzzle and gaze
with wide open mouth and burning eyes
if only I could start to care
my dreams and my Wednesdays ain't going nowhere
baby baby baby you don't know
you don't know you don't know
you don't know anything about me
what do I know I know your name
you don't know you don't know
we should have a word together
I think you and I
we never should have slept together
never should have tried
we should have a word together
it's time you understand
that I think the situation
is getting out of hand
like a stepping stone a breaking bone
the moves we make alone
still we pretend nothing's wrong at all
you have changed I have changed
in a different way we changed
every step we take we're more alone
we should have a word together
I know that I said
that we were meant to be together
I wish I never had
we should have a word together
it's time we break our fall
because trying isn't always better
than not trying at all
like a stepping stone a breaking bone
the moves we make alone
still we pretend nothing's wrong at all
you have changed I have changed
in a different way we changed
every step we take we're more alone
like a stepping stone a breaking bone
the moves we make alone
still we pretend nothing's wrong at all
you have changed I have changed
in a different way we changed
every step we take we're more alone
every step we take we're more alone
I wish you smelled a little funny
Not just funny really bad
We could roam the streets forever
Just Ilke cats but we'd never stray
I sometimes wish you were a mermaid
I could raise you in the tub at home
We could take a swim together
On weekly day trips to the bay
Oh you and me
lt would be only you and me
Oh you and me
lt would be only you and me
I wish you were a little bigger
Not just big but really fat
Doors you would no longer fit through
In my bed you would have to stay
I often wish that you had feathers
rd keep you in a giant cage
All day long rd sit and watch you
rd sing for you and that would be okay
People say there are plenty of fish
In the sea, baby, all I do is wish
I wish you were a little slower
Not just slow but paralyzed
Then I could plug you into a socket
So you could never run away
I really wish that you were smaller
Not just small but really really short
So I could put you in my pocket
I made the call just too late
At the end of May
I just thought I could wait
For one more day
In the time that passed
You went down so fast
You went down so fast
Out of my reach, out of my hands
I didn't understand
I would have changed all my plans
An empty house, a setting sun
At four a.m.
Some battles fought are battles won
But this ain't one of them
One more shadow cast
You went down so fast
You went down so fast
Out of my reach, out of my hands
I didn't understand
I would have changed all my plans
I would have changed
Out of my reach, out of my hands
Now the leaves are turning brown
I watch 'em blow
Where the earth pulls them down
I let you go
As your breath unwinds
Through the restless pines
Out of my reach, out of my hands
I didn't understand
I would have changed all my plans
I would have changed
Out of my reach, out of my hands
I didn't understand
I would have changed all my plans
I'm Peter van der Hold
I'm 68 years old
I doubt some questions have increased
In 42 years of being a priest
I'm at the end of my life
I'm not sure if I'm gonna survive
I often don't know what to say
When I talk to Him, when I pray
In reply I receive
Only silence, no relieve
I've waited in vain for a little advice
from that great voice in the ethereal skies
Once I was revolutionary
A devoted mercenary
A gifted student in God's hands
Now I'm old and sick of his demands
I tried to be honest and good
Did my job the best I could
But I always stayed that average man
Right in the spot where I'll be began
During the grieve with which I've dealt
Spent three decades since I've felt
The certainty I so have thought 'bout the existence of
the Lord
I've seen enough, that's why I know
God left this place, long long time ago
I'll give him to my perish
Things I don't have myself but cherish
And namely love and charity
Mostly purpose that's what sets you free
So I'm where the metaphore
I'm not comforting anymore
I think I'm almost done with my search
Got old so fast even in my church
But feels as if I'm kept out
Some sort of secret about
The meaning of live sometimes
Can't fail to notice these are mediocre types
I've seen enough, that's why I know
God left this place, long long time ago
I've seen enough, that's why I know
God left this place, long long time ago
And time has made me good at one thing
And horrible at everything else
The blessings of a world divine
Were always elsewhere and never mine
Oh, I would like to hold someone
Briefly maybe have some fun
My body's hardly designed
So I'm not really the hugging kind
Not once has it been
Someone with a softer skin
Who reached out for me in the middle of the night
'Cause my own lumpy mattress would've turn on the light
I think I've been miscast
And the time of saints is passed
My faith is reclassed but not least
After 42 years of being a priest
The church is like a woman
Thing out of reach like a vision
She glimmers in the distance which I could never quite
Now I've left you with my regret
I've seen enough, that's why I know
God left this place, long long time ago
I've seen enough, that's why I know
God left this place, long long time ago
I've seen enough, that's why I know
God left this place, long long time ago
I've seen enough,...
God left this place,...
It's my portion, it's my cup...
It's my portion, it's my cup...
It's my portion, it's my cup...
I bet you want to know who's coming
Coming to the party tonight.
My friends are drinking satisfaction
I've been mixing tonic and spite.
Stop now you've gotta move on.
Somehow she took you like a pawn.
Stop now you've gotta move on
And win this endless game.
And drive away. (hey)
I can't get myself to drive away. (hey)
Spilling oil down my escape.
You were over me in no time.
You can close that door
You can close that door but I can't drive away.
Sunset a bonafide disaster
Hiding in deceit of my fear.
My friends I know they tried to tell me
But I was too stubborn to hear.
Stop now you're not gonna save her.
Somehow she'll lead you into danger.
Stop now you're not gonna save her
And win this endless game.
And drive away. (hey)
I can't get myself to drive away. (hey)
Spilling oil down my escape.
You were over me in no time.
You can close that door
You can close that door but I can't drive away.
And drive away. (hey)
I can't get myself to drive away. (drive away)
And drive away. (hey)
I can't get myself to drive away. (hey)
Spilling oil down my escape.
You were over me in no time.
You can close that door
Give a prayer to the purse
Can a blessing really be a curse
Is it right, is it wrong, or is it even worse
Well I'll tell you for the prize you descend
But you don't know where the path will end
In the grave with the handle on the things you crave
Would it please you to say that I'm with you all the way
Well I can't and I won't 'cause it kills me just the same
In a cold, cold sweat I'm awakened by a plastic ring
It's the thought of a million person sonic fling
So you say what you say but it doesn't matter anyway
It's ok as long as you just stay away from me now
Ithaca was just a dream before I met you Ithaca my home's been
lost to strangers a path left by invaders
Lead the way I'm gladly sure to stay by your side
Don't hesitate this one's worth time
Don't doubt the wait 'cause we are the ones
We are the ones and this perfect mess has everybody singing for
something, someone, sometimes this perfect mess has everbody wishing
for you to come be part of our world
Ithaca I write these words with hopes of reaching you Ithaca
Don't think I'll lose you now to the face and grip
That time has on my mind the pouring rain is slowing down this one's worth time
Don't let me drown 'cause we are the ones
We are the ones and they'll figure you out know what you're all about
'Cause candle light remembers every name
Every rhythm felt every rhythm moved
Morning sunshine come light my life like you said you can
With the windows open, all the spirits fly away
Pull the wings off a bird who cannot fly
And I'll make you feel the pain of where she lies
'cause this is a new day for broken hands and breaking backs
This is a new day for lovers' hands and fighting hands
To finally be set free from tragedy
Morning sunshine come light my life like you said you can
And i'll give you all the time that we need now
To giure out where we can go just to be alone
And i'll watch you wash your body clean
of all the things you wish you'd never seen
I cast these sotnes upon my broken hands
I cast these stones upon my back
I cast these stones upon my soul
My ghost will carry me home
She’s the one, who came to me
And said everything I wanted to say
Now's the time, now's the time
So don’t break myheart, don’t break my heart
I'll try my best to be the one,
love, you'll never fallout from
And you'll see it's lonely way up here
And I need someone to share this fear
Cuz sometimes I wanna forget you all
Yes, I wanna see who can be without you
Shine the light and see the truth
That my love for you has been mislead
To the tears I cry for every time
I've been alone, I've been alone
Just turn your back, ignore the fact
That this fool misjudged you all along
Why can't I be all the dreams that you dream that just waste in your mind…
These words are so redundant and plain
What's a love song to do?
Get up you lazy slob the day is almost gone
You've lost another one the hours ramble on
And this song won't write itself
Don't imagine that it will
What you have to offer is standing still
And he's wasting all of his life
On routines that lead to nowhere
Get up you lazy slob the sun is almost gone
As your shadows cast you down
You wished that I was wrong
There will be another chance
Don't let this slide on by
You can't prove them wrong unless you try
There is no denying truth can leave you crying
When you've never loved before
I hope you're never leaving 'cause wishes are deceiving
And crying only hurts us more
So fall asleep I'll always be in love with you
And forever know you're always in my dreams
You never loved me like you said you did
Night fades into day my dreams are where you stay
Can we ever really get it right
I'm not going to say it 'cause I don't want to hear
How it's never really worth the fight
Remaining fairly happy and patiently awaiting
The moment that you realize
Call it superstition or call it intuition
But I know where our future lies
So sing to sleep I'll always be in love with you
And forever know you're always in my dreams
It goes on and on
Remember somewhere I'll be found next to you
Right next to you
I'm stuck in the shadows of a man that I never could be
Thinking twice about trusting but losing that someone who cares
You killed me by silence but whispered that this feels
Oh so good I feel oh so good
And you right where you are is where I ought to be
Somewhere behind the scars there's always room for me
This broken bracelet is all that I have left from you
And the morning sun came too soon
'Cause what's left is this wall
That is crumbling down in our lives leaving him behind
Have I lost my way oh baby say it's not true
That it can hurt so good when I am right next to you
I see the rise of the light in the sky
Comforting us, though we're all going to die.
I hear the bells
They're ringing for me.
Is there not a way to avoid them?
Time marches on
Until the battery fades.
But what are you doing before hand?
Get up don't stall now.
The plane isn't going to stay.
Get up don't fall now.
It's taking you away from here.
Where the air holds nothing to fear.
And I see the light.
Because we're all going to die.
I want to help you all realize
The hope and the joy that has found me.
Live in the dark,
But dwell in the light.
She was the girl who had finally come along
Into my life and became a mystery
Can you be real enough so I can hold you hand
Hold you tight, close my eyes and everything will be alright
I'm as weak and fragile as can be
Don't lead me on, come on you know you do
Escape all that you're afraid to be
Run away with me tonight
And I know it's hard yes I know you cry sometimes
But I'll be here by your side as the leaves
And I'll hold your hand through the pain
As the leaves fall tonight
She was a girl who this morning left alone
Out of my life as she had come
Can you breathe me in as fast as I can breathe you out
Look in my eyes and realize that everything will be alright
No perfect word no melody can sing all that you mean to me
If you give me the opportunity make your heart real and cry out for me
I'll take you away from this world for one second in time
I know it's hard and I know it hurts you
I know you cry sometimes
You simple thing undone by suffering
I'll help you to build back your crubling wall
Not worth a thing brass tacks and angel wings
But you've found your fortune in wear-with-all
Could you have wanted it that way
Would you have stayed inside the lion's cage so afraid
You simple thing mute lips that softly sing
'Cause fear is the music your heart unfolds
Not worth a thing priceless and worth protecting
One nite, I met you
As the rain glistened in the shine of your eyes
Dream with the stars
Dream of me
Dream of everything you wanna see
Whoa whoa whoaaaaa
Yea yea yeaaaaa
Francesca, Francesca
What a pretty name
For a pretty girl like you
Goodnight sweet dreams
As I lay here thinking of you
Where you are
Where you've been
Where you're going to
All the rivers cry out a song
As we all sing together
Tell me what you wanna be
Tell me what you wanna see
It's so soft to the see the glow from the city up ahead
Connect my heart to the rhythm it's lead
Straight forward and ready 'cause I'm on my way home
It's so good to be alive in such a hazardous world
To be alive and see the victory unfurled
I'm anxious and waiting 'cause I'm on my way home
Yeah, your war is won oh my friend your're finally done
On that day you'll find ambitions don't lie here anymore
The one you love has gone and settled the score
What more could you ask for now
It's so good to be alive in such a wonderful year
To be alive and see the end of your fear
With peace in your ear 'cause you're on your way home
And all this time we walk the line through pain and giving in to you
But now it's gone so we'll move on and know that this is not the end
On that simple night when we've all lost our sight
You believed in what I said
From those cursed beginnings to those blessed ends
I got in a fight over some stupid insecurities.
Stepped out of the light.
When did we lose our old identity?
Now my white flags are waving around
'Cause you don't need your best friends bringing you down.
Something in the air with the smoke and the fire
Got in my eyes, our eyes singing,
Stand up, stand up
Can I be strong enough?
I'm trying hard to be myself again
To be myself again.
I've been tripping over all the rules
Living my live somebody else's way.
I've been sinking on this ship of fools,
Following orders that I can't obey.
Now my white flags are waving around
'Cause the choices I've made ran me into the ground.
Someone's at the crash site digging me out.
I hope it's you, I hear you singing to me
Stand up, stand up
Can I be strong enough?
I'm trying hard to be myself again
Stand up, stand up
Brothers be strong enough.
We're trying hard to be ourselves again
To be ourselves again.
When plans go wrong they won't set the sun.
When plans go wrong they won't ruin the day.
Stand up, stand up
I gotta be strong enough.
I'm trying hard to be myself again.
So stand up, stand up.
Brothers be strong enough.
We're trying hard to be ourselves again again.
Stand up, stand up (Stand up, stand up)
Stand up, stand up, stand up!
Stand up, stand up (Stand up, stand up)
You got what I'm looking for.
I got what you came here for.
You got what I need
And I want to start spending it now.
Through distance and time
We lose our confinement.
Few months go by
Years I might die.
So here in my mind
I dream of the time
I can get you alone
So close and alone.
'Cause you got what I'm looking for.
I got what you came here for.
You know what we need
And we need eachother.
I want but I can't afford
You know what I'm saving for.
You know what we need
And I want it now.
The freeways are packed
And my fuel's burning.
I can't turn back
The exits are stacked.
So I sit here instead
And I try to forget
That I want you alone
So close and alone.
'Cause you got what I'm looking for.
I got what you came here for.
You know what we need
And we need eachother.
I want but I can't afford
You know what I'm saving for.
You know what we need
And I want it now.
So don't hide your heart's desire
Let me light your soul on fire.
One crazy interview when I get alone....
And she said, "Not without that ring on my hand.
We can't go further."
And I said, "Wait until you see what I've got...
What I've got in store for you then."
You got what I'm looking for.
I got what you came here for.
You know what we need
And we need eachother.
I want but I can't afford
You know what I'm saving for.
You know what we need
And I want it now.
So don't hide your heart's desire
Let me light your soul on fire.
