This week marks 16 years since NATO's 3 month bombing campaign against Yugoslavia. Protests meet the event in Serbia where western flags were set on fire. Serbs want the alliance to pay up. Two Serbian NGOs have said NATO should be required to pay compensation for the devastating destruction inflicted during the 1999 attack. Serbian experts put the price tag at anywhere between 60 to 100 billion dollars. The bombing took place without any go-ahead from the United Nations which is a violation of international law and norms. John Bosnitch, journalist and political consultant is In the Now. Belgrade is situated in South-Eastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. City lies 116.75 metres (383.0 ft) above sea level and is located at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. The river waters surround it from three sides, and that is why since ancient times it has been the guardian of river passages. Because of its position it was properly called "the gate" of the Balkans, and "the door" to Central Europe.

The previous march in 2010 was marred by bloody clashes between anti-pride rioters and police, leaving 150 people injured. Serbian nationalist groups amassed hundreds of their members ahead of the gay pride parade to protest LGBT rights and attempt to prevent the march. Fearing a repeat of the violence in 2010, several thousand anti-riot police and armored vehicles mobilized on the streets of the city in anticipation of this year's procession. VICE News was in Belgrade to monitor the anti-LGBT protests and meet members of Serbia's gay community who were determined to defy the intimidation and march through the streets, regardless of the risks. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black (Live Belgrade18-06-2011 drunk or stoned) RIP 23-07-2011 † LONDON: Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her flat in north London, police said. She was 27 years old. The Grammy award-winning soul singer struggled with well-documented drink and drug addictions. Her death is being treated as unexplained. "Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square shortly before 4:05 pm (local time) today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased," a police statement said. "On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. "Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained." London Ambulance Service had been called to the flat at 3:54 pm (1454 GMT) and sent two ambulances. Winehouse rocketed to fame after winning five Grammy awards off the back of her 2006 second album "Back to Black" and the hit single "Rehab". In the run-up to her live return, Winehouse spent a week at an addiction treatment clinic in London, reportedly at the suggestion of her father, Mitch, over concerns that she was drinking too much before her shows. But Winehouse pulled out of her European comeback tour following a disastrous opening performance in Serbia on June 18. She was booed at the performance in Belgrade, as she appeared to be too drunk to sing. Some 20,000 people gathered for the highly-promoted concert at the sixth-century Kalemegdan fortress, but many soon left. During the concert, which lasted about 90 minutes, Winehouse could only mumble some of the lyrics, failing to follow her band. Winehouse left the stage twice, with many fans showing their displeasure despite her band's attempts to calm the crowd. She had also been scheduled to perform in Istanbul, Athens, Bilbao in Spain, Locarno in Switzerland, Italy's Lucca festival, Switzerland's Paleo Festival in Nyon, Nova Jazz and Blues Night in Wiesen, Austria, and Poland's Bydgoszcz Artpop Festival. Facts from Amy's troubled life Early life: - Amy Winehouse was born on Sept. 14 1983 to a Jewish family with a history of jazz musicians. - She was discovered by soul singer Tyler James at the age of 16 and in 2003 her debut album "Frank" was released, to general acclaim. - Her second album "Back to Black" was released in October 2006 and reached the No.1 spot. Mixed Fortunes: - The album's hit single "Rehab," with the prescient line: "They tried to make me go to rehab. I said 'no, no, no'" has been called the anthem of celebrity trash culture. - In October 2007, she and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil were arrested at a Norwegian hotel for marijuana possession, and soon afterward fans booed her on stage as she slurred her way through her gigs. They divorced in 2009. - Two months later she was photographed wandering barefoot on a London street, wearing only jeans and a bra and looking confused. - Despite being refused entrance to the United States, Winehouse won five Grammy awards in February 2008. - April 2008 saw her with mixed fortunes. She was nominated three times for the Ivor Novello awards in May and joined the elite ranks of music millionaires in the Sunday Times rich list with an estimated fortune of $16.3 million. - In 2010, she pleaded guilty to common assault and public order charges at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court. Winehouse had assaulted theatre manager Richard Pound after disrupting a performance of "Cinderella" at the Milton Keynes Theatre in central England on Dec. 19. She was arrested four days later. - In 2011, it was announced the on-again, off-again follow-up to Winehouse's seminal "Back to Black" album of 2006 could be on again. Recent sightings of her looking healthier after a trip to Brazil in January 2011 did raise hopes of a new release in 2011. - Also in 2011 she had been slated to sing with Tony Bennett and a laundry list of pop stars on "Tony Bennett: Duets II," the follow-up to his 2006 release "Duets: An American Classic." - For Winehouse, who had released scant material since her 2006 breakout "Back to Black," the duet would have been her first recorded appearance since her cover of Lesley Gore's "It's My Party" for Quincy Jones' compilation "Q: Soul Bossa Nostra" in 2010. ANA ZOE KIDA, whose band ZEMLJA GRUVA shared the bill, said: "Four British bodyguards simply pushed her to step up on stage. "She did not want to and was making a scene trying to escape them. "It was distressing to see, she obviously needed help."

Me and a friend visit the capital of Serbia in August 2007. We were pleasantly surprised.
Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. Its name translates to White city. The city proper has a population of over 2 million people. One of the most important prehistoric cultures of Europe, the Vinča culture, evolved within the Belgrade area in the 6th millennium BC. In antiquity, Thraco-Dacians inhabited the region, and after 279 BC Celts conquered the city, naming it Singidūn. It was conquered by the Romans during the reign of Augustus, and awarded city rights in the mid 2nd century. It was settled by the Slavs in the 520s, and changed hands several times between the Byzantine Empire, Frankish Empire, Bulgarian Empire and Kingdom of Hungary before it became the capital of Serbian King Stephen Dragutin (1282--1316). In 1521, Belgrade was conquered by the Ottoman Empire and became the seat of the Sanjak of Smederevo. It frequently passed from Ottoman to Habsburg rule, which saw the destruction of most of the city during the Austro-Ottoman wars. Belgrade was again named the capital of Serbia in 1841. Northern Belgrade remained the southernmost Habsburg post until 1918, when the city was reunited. As a strategic location, the city was battled over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times. Belgrade was the capital of Yugoslavia (in various forms of governments) from its creation in 1918, to its final dissolution in 2006. Belgrade has a special administrative status within Serbia and it is one of five statistical regions of Serbia. Its metropolitan territory is divided into 17 municipalities, each with its own local council. It covers 3.6% of Serbia's territory, and 22.5% of the country's population lives in the city. The city has been awarded many titles, and the nomination for European Capital of Culture 2020. Houseboats on Ada Ciganlija Extreme sports are available, such as bungee jumping, water skiing, and paintballing. There are numerous tracks on the island, where it is possible to ride a bike, go for a walk, or go jogging. Apart from Ada, Belgrade has total of 16 islands on the rivers, many still unused. Among them, the Great War Island at the confluence of Sava, stands out as an oasis of unshattered wildlife (especially birds). These areas, along with nearby Small War Island, are protected by the city's government as a nature preserve. Tourist income is annually around 800 million Euros. In 2012, Belgrade visited 976.674 registered tourists. From that number 771.299 were foreign. Also more than 100.000 tourists arrive by 850 river cruisers. Belgrade has a reputation for offering a vibrant nightlife; many clubs that are open until dawn can be found throughout the city. The most recognizable nightlife features of Belgrade are the barges (splav), spread along the banks of the Sava and Danube Rivers. Belgrade nightlife on riverclubs. Many weekend visitors—particularly from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia—prefer Belgrade nightlife to that of their own capitals, due to a perceived friendly atmosphere, great clubs and bars, cheap drinks, the lack of language difficulties, and the lack of restrictive night life regulation. Famous alternative clubs include Akademija and the famed KST (Klub Studenata Tehnike), located in the basement of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Electrical Engineering. One of the most famous sites for alternative cultural happenings in the city is the SKC (Student Cultural Centre), located right across from Belgrade's highrise landmark, the Beograđanka. Concerts featuring famous local and foreign bands are often held at the center. SKC is also the site of various art exhibitions, as well as public debates and discussions. Skadarlija, the city's old bohemian neighbourhood A more traditional Serbian nightlife experience, accompanied by traditional music known as Starogradska (roughly translated as Old Town Music), typical of northern Serbia's urban environments, is most prominent in Skadarlija, the city's old bohemian neighborhood where the poets and artists of Belgrade gathered in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Skadar Street (the centre of Skadarlija) and the surrounding neighbourhood are lined with some of Belgrade's best and oldest traditional restaurants (called kafanas in Serbian), which date back to that period. At one end of the neighbourhood stands Belgrade's oldest beer brewery, founded in the first half of the 19th century. One of the city's oldest kafanas is the Znak pitanja. The Times reported that Europe's best nightlife can be found in buzzing Belgrade. In the Lonely Planet "1000 Ultimate Experiences" guide of 2012, Belgrade was placed at the 1st spot among the top 10 party cities in the world.

What a tourist should see and do in Belgrade within 24 hours.
As we watch four couples in present-day Belgrade grapple with the trials and tribulations of love, the film proves to be both (and much more besides). Silvie, a chanson singer on the verge of a nervous breakdown, is escorted round the city by the young chauffeur Stefan for one day and one night. On the very day the dominatrix Melita is set to leave Belgrade with the American diplomat Brian, she discovers her slave is not the man he said he was. Orhan, a German-Turkish businessman, learns about the roots of Turkish culture in the course of an encounter with the beautiful Jagoda and vast quantities of alcohol. The Serbian policewoman Đurđa and her Croatian husband Mato choose their wedding day to reveal the lies they have told each other. Like in a thematic travel guide the different chapters are linked, in this case by choirs who sing enchantingly sad love songs and also promote Serbia as a tourist destination. Supported by a splendid cast, director Bojan Vuletić at the same casually depicts life in contemporary Serbia, a candidate for EU accession, as promising to enrich the diversity united within the boundaries of that institution.

http://www.expedia.com/Buenos-Aires.d178242.Destination-Travel-Guides Named for good sailing winds, Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina, and home to nearly a quarter of the country’s two million residents. Come for the stunning European architecture, and stay for delicious cuts of meat, the city’s zest for soccer, and, of course, the tango. “The Paris of South America” boasts outstanding shopping and a friendly populace. A tour of Buenos Aires should cut through La Boca Harbor, where you’ll find numerous street vendors, restaurants, and street dancers willing to give you a spin. Wander down the streets to take in colorful artwork, and make a game out of asking the locals what neighborhood you should tour next. Here’s a hint: with so much to see, everyone will give you a different answer! Some will tell you to visit San Telmo for souvenirs, patio shopping, and crumbling historical buildings. Others will suggest Puerto Madero, a refurbished shipping port that boasts a mixture of old-world glamour and modern buildings. What everyone will suggest, however, is a stop by Plaza de Mayo. There you can take in the rosy architecture of the Casa Rosada, which was made famous by Argentine First Lady Eva Peron and the musical about her life, “Evita.” Take a tour and learn about her life, from her humble beginnings to her rise to power. Cap off your Buenos Aires sightseeing with an evening walk through Puerto Madero, where you can get a late dinner and dance until the next day arrives. What do you want to see in Buenos Aires? The Register 2015-03-30Belgrade ( /ˈbɛlɡreɪd/; Serbian: Београд; [beǒɡrad] ( listen); names in other languages) is the capital and largest city of Serbia. The city is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. Its name in English translates to White city. The city proper has a population of over 1.1 million, while its metropolitan area has over 1.6 million people, making it one of the largest cities in Southeast Europe.
One of the largest prehistoric cultures of Europe, the Vinča culture, evolved around the area Belgrade in the 6th millennium BC. In antiquity, Thraco-Dacians inhabited the region, and after 279 BC Celts conquered the city, naming it Singidūn. It was conquered by the Romans during the reign of Augustus, and awarded city rights in the mid 2nd century. It was settled by the Slavs in the 520s, and changed hands several times before it became the capital of King Stephen Dragutin (1282–1316). In 1521 Belgrade was conquered by the Ottoman Empire and became the seat of a the Sanjak of Smederevo. It frequently passed from Ottoman to Habsburg rule, which saw the destruction of most of the city during the Austro-Ottoman wars. Belgrade was again named the capital of Serbia in 1841. The north of Belgrade remained a Habsburg outpost until 1918, when it was merged into the capital city. As a strategic location, the city was battled over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times. Belgrade was the capital of Yugoslavia (in various forms of governments) from its creation in 1918, to its final dissolution in 2006.
Anthony Charles Lynton Blair (born 6 May 1953) is a British Labour Party politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2 May 1997 to 27 June 2007. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sedgefield from 1983 to 2007 and Leader of the Labour Party from 1994 to 2007. He resigned from all of these positions in June 2007.
Blair was elected Leader of the Labour Party in the leadership election of July 1994, following the sudden death of his predecessor, John Smith. Under his leadership, the party used the phrases "New Labour" and "New Socialism" to define its policy, and moved away from its support of state socialism since the 1960s and created a new version of the ethical socialism that was last pursued by Clement Attlee. Critics of Blair claim that "New Labour" did not adhere to socialism as claimed, and that it effectively advocated capitalism. Blair subsequently led Labour to a landslide victory in the 1997 general election. At 43 years old, he became the youngest Prime Minister since Lord Liverpool in 1812. In the first years of the New Labour government, Blair's government implemented a number of 1997 manifesto pledges, introducing the minimum wage, Human Rights Act and Freedom of Information Act, and carrying out devolution, establishing the Scottish Parliament, the National Assembly for Wales, and the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Something's wrong, someone's gonna pay
The innocent are getting blown away
Months ago a peaceful scene
We bought the kids some ice-cream
While the bombs are dropping on our friends - Belgrade
Wondering where it all is gonna end - Belgrade
Better stop now before it's too late - Belgrade
People pay for the government mistakes - Belgrade
Belgrade
a welcome like you wouldn't believe
brand new friends and "chivalry"
smuggling talks with a gangsta chief
made the gig by the skin of our teeth
While the bombs are dropping on our friends - Belgrade
Wondering where it all is gonna end - Belgrade
Better stop now before it's too late - Belgrade
People pay for the government mistakes - Belgrade
Belgrade
Waiting on the steps for the latest news
Frantic calls and interviews
I watched TV with real concern
And one day we will return
While the bombs are dropping on our friends - Belgrade
Wondering where it all is gonna end - Belgrade
Better stop now before it's too late - Belgrade
People pay for the government mistakes - Belgrade
