In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sings
Of the dreams that he brings
From the wide open sea
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sleeps
While the river bank weeps
To the old willow tree
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who dies
Full of beer, full of cries
In a drunken town fight
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who's born
On a hot muggy morn
By the dawn's early light
In the port of Amsterdam
Where the sailors all meet
There's a sailor who eats
Only fish heads and tails
And he'll show you his teeth
That have rotted too soon
That can haul up the sails
That can swallow the moon
And he yells to the cook
With his arms open wide
"Hey, bring me more fish
Throw it down by my side"
And he wants so to belch
But he's too full to try
So he stands up and laughs
And he zips up his fly
In the port of Amsterdam
You can see sailors dance
Paunches bursting their pants
Grinding women to porch
They've forgotten the tune
That their whiskey voice croaked
Splitting the night
With the roar of their jokes
And they turn and they dance
And they laugh and they lust
Till the rancid sound of the accordion bursts
And then out of the night
With their pride in their pants
And the sluts that they tow
Underneath the street lamps
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who drinks
And he drinks and he drinks
And he drinks once again
He'll drink to the health
Of the whores of Amsterdam
Who've given their bodies
To a thousand other men
Yeah, they've bargained their virtue
Their goodness all gone
For a few dirty coins
Well he just can't go on
Throws his nose to the sky
And he aims it up above
And he pisses like I cry
On the unfaithful love
In the port of Amsterdam
In the port Of Amsterdam there’s a sailor who sings

In the port of Amsterdam,
In the port of Amsterdam
Just the pattern of sunlight on a building
Just a flash in the window I was passing
Just a frame in a movie I remembered
Amsterdam
Just the sound of a wheel in the gravel
Just the click of a heel on the pavement
Just a moment like any other moment
Amsterdam
I remember your lips, I remember your eyes
And the taste of your kiss and your graceful goodbye
You lied, goodbye
Just the scent of perfume on the linen
Just the print of a palm on the pillow
Just the hint of the moon through the window
Amsterdam
Just a ghost in the steam on the mirror
Just a shadow of motion in the water
Just a need to look over my shoulder
Amsterdam
I remember your lips, I remember your eyes
And the taste of your kiss and your graceful goodbye
You lied, goodbye
Just two lovers asleep in the silence
As I walk from the door
Just the weight of a heart as it's falling
Nothing more
I remember your lips, I remember your eyes
And the taste of your kiss and your graceful goodbye
You lied, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Amsterdam old Amsterdam how I love you Amsterdam
When I get there I'm gonna kiss the ground let you stand on Amsterdam
I left my home and I left my friends said I'll be back but I don't know when
Set my sail to the restless wind so long old Amsterdam
I picked plums up in Yakimo and I picked pearles down in Arkansas
Even learned how to say you all but I still miss Amsterdam
Amsterdam old Amsterdam...
[ piano - dobro ]
I did my thing in Tokyo tried my luck in Kokomo
Searched for bill in Buffalo but I still miss Amsterdam
I picked peaches in a Georgia town and I picked cotton down in Birmingham
At the day I'll get out of Alabam I'm goin' back to Amsterdam
Amsterdam old Amsterdam...

Peace -
Peace -
Let's hope for peace,
Let's hope for peace,
Peace -
Let's hope for peace,
Peace -
Let's hope for peace.
(peace, peace, peace, peace...)
Peace -
Let's hope for peace, (peace, peace, peace, peace!)
Peace -
Let's hope for peace,
Peace -
Let's hope for peace.
Oh, john, let's hope for peace
For our children,
For our country,
For our world,
For our future,
Oh, john, let's hope for peace,
Let's hope for peace.
Peace -
Peace, peace,
Let's hope for peace.
Oh, john -
Peace.
Good morning meine damen und herren, this is the peace call.
John: what we're really doing is sending out a message to the world, mainly to the
Youth, especially the youth or anybody really that's interested in protesting for
Peace, or protesting against any form of violence and we say everybody's getting a
Bit heavy or bit intellectual about it. everybody's talking about peace, but nobody's
Doing anything about it, except for a few people, and the things are, the grosvenor
Square marches in london. the end product of it was just newspaper stories about
Riots and fightings. and we did the bed event in amsterdam and the bag piece in vienna
Just to give people an idea, that there's many ways of protest and this is one of them.
And anybody could grow their hair for peace or give up a week of their holiday for
Peace or sit in a bag for peace, protest against peace anyway, but peacefully cause we
Think that peace is only got by peaceful methods and that to fight the establishment
With their own weapons is no good, because they always win and they'd been winning
For thousands of years. they know how to play the game violence and it's easier for
Them when they can recognise you and shoot you. they don't know how to handle
Humour, peaceful humour and that's our message really.
Questioner: what do you think was the biggest success in history, about 300 years?
John: haven't a clue.
Yoko: well, maybe it's still yet to happen, you see. that's why we're trying to do it. in
Other words, by very, very peaceful methods to bring peace, you know instead of
Peace through violence, that's what we're trying to do and if we succeed in that,
That's the biggest happening yet in the last 300 years, because it's never been done and
Nobody has really tried it, you see. and that's what we're trying to do.
Questioner: what would you do in case of a war?
John: how do you mean?
Questioner: what would you do immediately if you would wake up in the morning, read the newspapers and they would tell you england is in war with france?
John: I'd die of fright.
Yoko: I don't think that should happen. you talk as if something's going to happen
Aside of us. we are all in this you see. we are all in the same society and in the same
World and everything that happens to us is our responsibility, you know. like any
Violence going in the world is just a symbol of all the violent atmosphere that is in
The world, you see and when the nazism persecuted the jewish people that wasn't only
Hitler, who did it or germany, who did it, but just a symbol of everybody in the world
Who had the feeling for the persecution of jews, you see. so we share everything, so
That's not gonna happen, if there's war suddenly, that's our fault, you know.
Questioner: so what do you think about the behaviour of austrian and germans during
The second world war? don't you think that they're a little bit more responsible
Than the others?
John: no, not particularly.
Yoko: no, not particularly. no. the whole world, if the whole world was really
Aware of it and if the journalists and the communication media of those days were
Really aware of their responsibility as well and reported everything correct, you
Know, well, which is almost impossible, I'm sure, but as much as possible and if the
Whole world was aware of their responsibility, it could have been stopped, I'm sure.
John: well, we know that britain and a few other counties waited quite a long time
Before they made any decision about what to do. I'm not quite sure of the facts, you
Know, but after czechoslovakia and things like that, they could've stopped it earlier,
But they waited until it's on the doorstep, you know, until it involves their money,
Their territory.
Questioner: there's a special type of petition that is vetoed by special contents ..
John: no. I don't think so because...
Questioner: hitler could have been voted by the french, for instance.
John: every nation will have a prototype. I think I was out talking to one of the
Austrian tv guys. I said can you name me one european country which hasn't sort of
Raped the world and he said austria actually was the only one that didn't attack
Anybody else. they were always on the defensive side, I don't know whether that's
True.
Qustioner: but they were silent at the wrong moment...
John: okay, that's bad, I agree that silence is bad. but I mean there isn't one european
Country that hasn't had it's hitler in one way or the other, including britain, in what
They did to india and south africa, you know.
Yoko: so let's so back to the future, you know. so that's why we're here. we want to
Talk mainly to the young people all over the world, because those are the people
Who are going to be the next generation. they're going to be the next world, you
Know, and we just want to say we are with them. we're not preaching or anything like
That. we want to be with them and we're with them and in our way, we're just
Announcing that we're open to all invitations or suggestions or anything to work
For the world peace, you see, and we're doing it now, in our own way, which we think is
The best for us and also the young people have to realise that this is just as bad as
Before the second world war or right in the middle of it, you know, that everything,
All the violence that is happening in the world now are our responsibility and if we
Don't really realise it and immediately start something, action, you know, it's going
To be bad, you know. and it will be exactly like you said. one morning, we find in the
Newspaper, find that the whole world is going to disappear, you know.
Questioner: I agree with you, but don't you see, I mean, it's a fact that by through your
Behaviour, I think it's okay, but for a lot of people, through your behaviour, to get
Suspicious. they don't think that this can be correct, people sitting under a
Tablecloth protesting against wars. they don't think...
Yoko: okay, before they criticise us, you know, and if they want to criticise us, okay,
Go ahead, and they should do it in their own way, but do something, you know.
Questioner: so everybody should throw out his part of hitler out of his soul, then?
John: yes, yes, we all have it in us. in a way, we're saying we want peace and we're
Staying in bed for peace, but I'm as violent as the next man, and I'm sure yoko is just as
Violent just as well. we're violent people, you know. I prefer myself when I'm non-
Violent. I prefer me friends when they're non-violent. it just makes for easier living
And if we have to have violence, let's channel it, you know.
I don't know how, you know, there's other people can work out how to channel it, or
Give them somewhere to play and kill each other or something. but I don't want to be
Involved in their violence. I prefer to live in peace, you know.
Yoko: all you need is courage, you know. you can just go out in the street now and
Take off all your clothes and just say peace you know and you'll be in the news you
See. just courage and if everybody gets courage and of course they would,
Because they would think all right maybe this is a little bit embarrassing thing to do,
But look at john and yoko they're doing worse, so I can do it, you know.
That's all we're trying to do, you see.
Questioner: so you're putting courage, also, into the world?
John: we hope so.
Yoko: I hope so.
John: okay.
Stay in bed!
John: look there's a fly flitting around. just makes you laugh.
Yoko: what time is it?
John: what's the time?
Yoko: what?
John: 9:30.good morning. I was saying about bagism, you see, you get in this bag and you
Jump out the window. next thing you know, you got a policeman on your head. you want tea?
Yoko: you know what I want, john?
John: what; what, what, what. oh, give us a chance! you want one before I do. yes, our
Name got round a lot. could I have room service, please. do you want toast?
Yoko: just tea. which do you want, coffee or tea?
John: tea.
Yoko: tea.
John: two tea's please. yeah, 902 and some toast. yeah, brown toast.
Good morning. yeah, yeah. I know and some toast. brown toast. yeah. thank you. bye, bye.
Alright then....
John: hello, dog. it's beautiful no, no, no. it'll just take a lot of looking after. well
Think about you, amsterdam. it's a lovely dog, huh.
Yoko: yes, it's lovely.
John: thank you very much.
Visitor: here you are.
John: thank you. you gonna take him off me now'!
Visitor: yeah, if you don't mind. thank you very much.
John: I thought you were giving
Visitor: bye, bye. bye, bye. no, no.
John: I sort of was under that impression. she gave us the dog and then went away. very nice.
Yoko: it's rather sort of really swinging though. don't you think so?
John: the thought of the long haired beatle in the 19th century sanctuary. please
Stop this nonsense. go home. we don't like people like you. go to a doctor to be
Normal, you get this? go to a doctor to be normal. we're seeing a psychiatrist today,
So maybe he'll fix us up then. bloody marvellous. we don't get through on some level,
As you notice. was under marijuana. beautiful, beautiful. keep smoking. nothing illegal
Beautiful, beautiful. hey, those kids are as hard as the real press.
Yoko: yes, amazing.
John: amazing. they're just as tough as the real press. very sexy. it's a boy, it's a boy.
Questioner: why are you staying in bed for 7 days?
John: ah, because...
Questioner: well, first of all, let me say congratulations on your marriage and that
In dutch is gefiliciteerd met je getrouw.
John: oh, dank u wel, oh, chocolat!
Questioner: how about explaining this mission you are on at this moment!
John: well, you start...
Yoko: well, because we thought of this idea about staying in bed for 7 days for
Protest against violence in the world.
Questioner: did you think of it's geographical situation as being the centre of europe?
John: no, I didn't realise, is it? oh, fantastic! it was magic then, you see, cause the way...
Questioner: well, they call it the centre of europe. it's an advertising campaign for an
Airline.
John: okay, well give us a free ticket and we'll be all right.
Various people: stand up! bend over towards us.
Stand up on your knees, maybe. turn up, turn up on your knees.
As soon as we can ......(unhearable) ....but we need you here
John: so, anyway a policeman came in and an elephant jumped on me head, so I said
What's going on and he said cabbages and the next moment I was on film, yeah.
Love, peace and bed!not forgetting jam of course.
Okay, guess now it's over?
Qustioner: are you cold?
John: no, no, no!
Questioner: yeah, music, you know, if you go back to the days of a, of a, let's see, where do we start now, we start with "do you love me? "
John: not, not particularly.
How about that?
John singing: good bye amsterdam, goodbye.
Stay in bed,
For bed-in,
For peace of the world,
Stay in bed,
Grow your hair.
Grow your hair.
Okay, good night.
Now it's time to say good night,
Good night, sleep tight.
Now the sun puts out his light.
Yoko: what a beautiful day it was though, very tiring, though. it's so turning like
Crazy, you know.
John: you can say that sort of hot?
Yoko: grow your hair.
John: bed peace.
Yoko: hair peace.
John: hair peace, bed peace.
Oh I just came back from Haarlem
On the very last day of Autumn
Made it through the customs, took the bus into town
The flat looked cold and empty
The chairs unused and dusty
Just a few old letters and papers lying around
The Dutch people were friendly
You know they put me up and they fed me
All along a tour of one night stands
All my days and all my ways
Are so confused
I tell you right new
I'm going to make it back to Amsterdam
And you can feel fine anytime
You choose to lose yourself for a while
Bottle of wine
In some back street cafe
Or out on the street, there's a chance
For you to meet anybody you please
Taking the time
To ease your blues away
Fred was a crazy driver
He took us at a hundred miles an hour
Down a side street out of a traffic jam
All my days and all my ways
Are so bemused
I tell you right now
I'm going to make it back to Amsterdam
Oh I just came back from Haarlem
And the very thing I was wanting
Was to find some way to let you know how I felt
You can't say much in an evening
If you know you'll soon be leaving
There's not much time to talk, and it's maybe as well
But I wanted to give you something
Because you knew you really helped me
So I've written you a song with a small West Indian band
And though it seems some days that all my ways are
Bound to lose
I tell you right now
I'm going to make it back to Amsterdam
Amsterdam
Amsterdam
Amsterdam
looking good through the window
shinin' red and blue light
a little thick in the bottom
but still' looking alright , yeah
got a pocket fulla money
got me long night ahead
a quick stop by the bulldog
score me some panama red , yeah
wham, bam, oh amsterdam
yea, yea, yea
stone you like nothin' else can
yea, yea, yea
hot damn, roll an amsterdamyea, yea, yea
if she can't , then nothin' else can
caught a plane outta moscow
spent a cold night in berlin
it's a long hard way
but i'm a comin' back again , yea
wham, bam, oh amsterdam
yea, yea, yea
stone you like nothin' else can
yea, yea, yea
yea, come on now , roll an amsterdam
yea, yea, yea
if she can't , then no one else can
yea, yea, yea....
wham, bam, oh amsterdam
yea, yea, yea
stone you like nothin' else can
yea, yea, yea
hot damn , roll an amsterdam
yea, yea, yea
if she can't , then no one else can
yea, yea, yea
wham, bam, oh amsterdam
yea, yea, yea
you don't have to worry about the man
yea, yea, yea
hot damn , burn an amsterdam yea
yea, yea, yea
stone me like nothin' else can
Come on, oh my star is fading
And I swerve out of control
If I, if I'd only waited
I'd not be stuck here in this hole
Come here, oh my star is fading
And I swerve out of control
And I swear, I waited and waited
I've got to get out of this hole
But time is on your side, its on your side, now
Not pushing you down, and all around
It's no cause for concern
Come on, oh my star is fading
And I see no chance of release
And I know I'm dead on the surface
But I am screaming underneath
And time is on your side, its on your side, now
Not pushing you down, and all around
No it's no cause for concern
Stuck on the end of this ball and chain
And I'm on my way back down again
Stood on the edge, tied to the noose
Sick to the stomach
You can say what you mean
But it won't change a thing
I'm sick of the secrets
Stood on the edge, tied to the noose
And you came along and you cut me loose
You came along and you cut me loose
Neko mi je ukrao biciklo
jer ga nisam dobro vezo lancom,
na biciklo ovde sam naviklo
da se ne bi osecalo strancom.
Kucici po ulicama kaku,
cipelu sam umazo govancom,
oce da me grickaju u mraku
da se ne bi osecalo strancom.
Ovde uopste nema Holandezi
sve Arapi, crnci i Kinezi,
tu ljudovi uopste ne spavaju
samo vicu i zajebavaju.
Tu kurave u izlozi sedu,
cutu, pusu, prolaznike gledu,
sedu gole ili u neglize
musterije da im pridju blize.
Moju malu trazim po kanalu
gde se vodom setaju sa brodom,
ceo dan sam plivao za camcom
da se ne bi osecalo strancom.
Svuda guzva, frka i krkljanac,
nemas pojma ko je ovde stranac,
postalo sam jedan Amsterdamac
da se ne bi osecalo stranac.
U kafanu pusu marihuanu,
ili neku drogu piju s nogu,
te sam noci spavalo pod sankom
da se ne bi osecalo strancom.
In the city of Amsterdam
you can find a lot of fun
the Dam square and Laitce plain
this is something I can't explain,
there is a crowd crazy and loud,
in a distance I hear a drum
calling me to come to
We get ghost, you already know what it is
Money stuffed in my bag
Maybach shit!
Bright lights and dark corners
It's night embark on us
Refugees running wild Wyclef with a Sig Sauer
Nothing to lose, I was starving from the start
Now the same cats drive in Jaguars
Open fire when you see me yeah I lie to make em whisper
The club that I'm a member, they'll be gone by November
Keys to the city got killers who slither with me
Lamborghini? smoke a fat fifty
Billionaire bid
Wrists on chill, standing in the field of dreams
Tryna see a hundred mil
These boys going blind they just happy being free
In a world of so many I just wanted me a key
Sheesh!
I just wanted me apiece
Slice of cheesecake before my niggas all decease
These boys snort lines I'm fine just sipping wine
Amsterdam in the air, tomorrow on my mind
I'm Barry Gordy to the streets
I wanna be there when each one of my kids born
Real nigga to the day that I'm deceased
Even then I pray I'm living through the beats
Born in the bricks with the short end of the stick
Always running late, quick to show up with your bitch
The Hublot's cool but my Terminator's foolish
Red, blue, do you, long as you're getting rick
Crack game, champagne, kilos on the stock exchange
These niggas acting like they want a war!
Nigga, you a? Honda Accord
I'm riding in some shit only I can afford
? rapport
Amsterdam stay on my mind: I just gave you a tour
I'm laughing at the people who label me poor
Now I piss on Europeans, you thought I was?
I'm Barry Gordy to the streets
Raw blood 100 acres just to live on
Dope boy, you could tell by my sneaks
I'm not the type of nigga you run into at a 7-11 and
Just pull your pistol on him...
In that time, I'mma handle my muthafuckin business...
Ruugh! Ruugh!
She's back from Amsterdam
And I think the journey did her well
Her face has lost it's touch
The tell tale signs of loneliness inside
But I love her still
And need her company still more
Come down, come down once more
And I think, the journey, did her well
She says she fell in love
With men who knew the way to treat a lady
Her life has settled for the best of things
That I couldn't give her
And it's not her fault, she's not the one to blame
Come down, come down, come down once more
And I do believe the journey did her well
Yes I do believe the journey did her well.

I threw away your greatest hits
You left them here the day you split
Your bass guitar and shaggs CD
Well they don't mean that much to me right now
I'm going through your things
These days, I'm changing all my strings
I'm gonna write you a letter
I'm gonna write you a book
I wanna see your reaction
I wanna see how it looks
>From way up on your cloud
Where you've been hiding out
Are you getting somewhere?
Or did you get lost in Amsterdam?
You won't get too far from me
believing everything you read
You're wasted in the great unknown
and I am getting ready to dispose
of all your vintage clothes
Your drugs and every secret code
I'm gonna write you a letter
I'm gonna write you a book
I wanna see your reaction
I wanna see how it looks
>From way up on your cloud
Where you've been hiding out
Are you getting somewhere?
Or did you get lost in Amsterdam?
>From your red balloon you were
a super high tech jet fighter
Floating over planet earth
Come back down here, I'll show you where it hurts
Take this bitter pill
Is it easy to swallow?
I'm gonna write you a letter
I'm gonna write you a book
I wanna see your reaction
I wanna see how it looks
From way up on your cloud
You're never coming down
Are you getting somewhere?
are there no shadows where you are ??
i can see everything as day
problems that you try to hide away
pushing me aside
[[ you`re pushing me aside ]]
could the winter calm come twice ??
`cause your heart seems so cold tonight ??
thirst for substance somehow isn`t right
it`s killing me inside
[[ it's killing you inside ]]
you're killing me inside
i don`t wanna be where you are
i don`t wanna be here even now
i don`t wanna be by your side
if something isn`t right
if something isn`t right
this is our last goodnight
say what you will
say all that you can
words have no meaning
when i`ve seen where you`ve been
this is our last goodnight
say what you will
say all that you can
this is our last goodbye
this is where love ends
are you so naive to right and wrong ??
how could you watch innocence forgone ??
does what we`ve done ever really belong ??
it wasted me away
[[ I feel so wasted away ]]
god if you can hear me out alright
please take these feelings for her inside
my chest hurts when i breathe tonight
it`s wasting me away
[[ you`re wasting me away ]]
they`re wasting me away
i don`t wanna be where you are
i don`t wanna be here even now
i don`t wanna be by your side
something isn`t right
something isn`t right
this is our last
[[ this is my last ]]
this is our last goodnight
say what you will
say all that you can
words have no meaning
when i`ve seen where you`ve been
this our last goodnight
say what you will
say all that you can
this is our last goodbye
this is where love ends

VERSE 1
You and me got the whole day off, take a trip to Vincent Van Gogh,But the line went half way round the block. And we're looking for a place to rest, every seat in every bar was set, So we turned back to the Grand Hotel.
And the rain came hard, a million people on a protest march, every choice, every path was mistaken.
VERSE 2
You and me got the whole thing sussed, Grey men are shadowing us, Wild conspiracies turn to dust,
Hear the sound of Cathedral bells, cash ringing at the gates of hell,And fairground hooligans push and swell,
CHORUS
The darkest days of a free man lying in the streets of Amsterdam I nearly fell underneath a tram but I picked myself up.
Every temptation and device, All the diamonds and the spice I would give anything for the sight of an honest man.
VERSE 3
Eyes swim in the emptiness, I was looking at a hotel guest when he blew me a big sarcastic kiss,
And the Lord walked in with a monocle and lips so thin
I saw the barman wink as he poured his brandy.
CHORUS
The darkest days of a free man lying in the streets of Amsterdam I nearly fell underneath a tram but I picked myself up.
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sings
Of the dreams that he brings
From the wide open sea
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sleeps
While the riverbank weeps
With the old willow tree
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who dies
Full of beer, full of cries
In a drunken down fight
And in the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who's born
On a muggy hot morn
By the dawn's early light
In the port of Amsterdam
Where the sailors all meet
There's a sailor who eats
Only fishheads and tails
He will show you his teeth
That have rotted too soon
That can swallow the moon
That can haul up the sails
And he yells to the cook
With his arms open wide
Bring me more fish
Put it down by my side
Then he wants so to belch
But he's too full to try
So he gets up and laughs
And he zips up his fly
In the port of Amsterdam
You can see sailors dance
Paunches bursting their pants
Grinding women to paunch
They've forgotten the tune
That their whiskey voice croaks
Splitting the night with the
Roar of their jokes
And they turn and they dance
And they laugh and they lust
Till the rancid sound of
The accordion bursts
Then out to the night
With their pride in their pants
With the slut that they tow
Underneath the street lamps
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who drinks
And he drinks and he drinks
And he drinks once again
He drinks to the health
Of the whores of Amsterdam
Who have promised their love
To a thousand other men
They've bargained their bodies
And their virtue long gone
For a few dirty coins
And when he can't go on
He plants his nose in the sky
And he wipes it up above
And he pisses like I cry
For an unfaithful love
In the port of Amsterdam
I was down in Amsterdam
Almost hurt myself to death
I pushed myself so hard
Just like the redlight girls
Well I cried and stopped to smile
I thought my career was over
And the dealer boys they had to bring me water
I stumbled over mountains
And the shadows of the street
I fell into the river
I cried and and bagged for mercy
And i talked to god on the telephone
But I really can't tell you what he told me
But it was a lie
No I really can't tell you what he told me
But it was a lie
When I came to Amsterdam
The hotel showed a movie
With Marlon Brando and his friend Pacino
Well I thought that this is nice
And I'm sure I can relax now
But suddenly the room was full of demons
I escaped through the window
Almost ran a mile away
I had nowhere to go
So I cried and and bagged for mercy
And I talked to god on the telephone
But I really can't tell you what he told me
But it was a lie
No I really can't tell you what he told me
But it was a lie
But nothing seems to matter
In this lonesome dirty town
But for a short brief moment
I thought she was the one
And she and I were fighting
About sex, love and TV
That's why I had to get down and talk
To god on the telephone
But I really can't tell you what he told me
But it was a lie
No I really can't tell you what
parecia no pasar.
Porqué hoy me siento bien,

Amsterdam, Amsterdam, Amsterdam, Amsterdam
I believe I could see my life clearer
Walking in Amsterdam
There's an ocean between
Who I am and who I was?
Walking in Amsterdam
Now I run
Everyone of my days have become
A pursuit of what I once had
Can I get it back? Can I get it back?
Can I get back to the time
When every step had purpose?
I was so clearly defined
Someday, I'll resurface
Walking in Amsterdam
Now I run
Everyone of my days have become
A pursuit of what I once had
Can I get it back? Can I get it back?
Now I run
Everyone of my days, look at what they've become
A pursuit of what I once had
Can I get it back? Can I get it back?
Well, here I am in Amsterdam as winter waves good-bye...
almost seven in the morning and I'm walking all alone and the moon's still in
the sky.
And I have to laugh just thinking how I've never found a home.
Pillows yes, to lay my head, but I've mostly been alone.
Oh, Amsterdam, can you tell me what kind of man I am?
A walker in the rain, a dancer in the sand, or just an insane music man?
Oh, Amsterdam, I'm barely hanging on by a single strand.
All I really know is I don't understand.
I'm just waking up alone in Amsterdam.
A boy I see in a window there I can't help looking in.
As someone's arms pull him back to bed, I'm thinking what a fool I've been.
And the moon is trapped in an old canal like a madman in a cell.
And I'm thinking how I'd like to know just one place very well.
Oh, Amsterdam, can you tell me what kind of man I am?
A walker in the rain, a dancer in the sand, or just an insane music man?
Oh, Amsterdam, I'm barely hanging on by a single strand.
All I really know is I don't understand.

In Berlin mal wieder alles grau
Und keinen Stoff, und keine Frau
Draußen Regen, drinnen kalt
Und nichts zu rauchen, und keinen Halt
Was macht man in so einem Moment
I can't see, everything is twisted
Red lights, are shining in the distance
Cascade, still lit through the window
Soaking me in muted colours
My heart, is resting in attention
My lungs, have found a new ambition
We race through conscience dreams and
My soul is raging so I
Chase it! Chase it! Follow it through every door
My mind is seeping through the wooden floor
Listen! Listen! To the sounds you cant ignore
And you won't come down!
Chase it! Chase it! Find out what I'm looking for
This life is taking on much more
Listen! Listen! To the sounds you can't ignore
And you won't come down!
Tonight, I find a new existence
Follow, in the city's footprints
Moonlit, what a shame of visions
Weave my way through strangers faces
My pride, it seems so inconsistent
And i feel, so much less resistant
So blurred and perforated
My soul is raging so I
Chase it! Chase it! Follow it through every door
My mind is seeping through the wooden floor
Listen! Listen! To the sounds you cant ignore
And you won't come down!
Chase it! Chase it! Find out what I'm looking for
This life is taking on much more
Listen! Listen! To the sounds you can't ignore
And you won't come down!
And you won't come down!
These nights, they've inspired me forever
These days, they won't ever be the same
Chase it! Chase it! Follow it through every door
My mind is seeping through the wooden floor
Listen! Listen! To the sounds you cant ignore
And you won't come down!
Chase it! Chase it! Find out what I'm looking for
This life is taking on much more
Listen! Listen! To the sounds you can't ignore
And you won't come down!
Midnight in Eindhoven : hippies in space
Someone's injecting a raindrop from heaven
The ghosts of electricity are gnawing at the wires
We're smoking like chimneys and trying to count to seven
We can do it -- we can do it here
And we can do it in Amsterdam
Our reputation is hanging by a thread
The sweat breaks out as we wrestle with nasty Mr. Echo
We've seen the writing on that big white wall
Punch drunk and crazy as we wait for Country Joe
Frozen here in the back of the van
The coldest winter ever known to man
Amsterdam, Amsterdam -- I love Amsterdam
We saw our faces floating in silver canals
Breaking bread at dawn and counting out the delicious cash
It's just like living through somebody else's dream
You see your whole life flash before you a second before you crash
We can do it -- we can do it here
"Amsterdam"
I'm sorry, mother... I'm sorry, I let you down
Well, these days I'm fine - No these days I tend to lie
I'll take the West train, just by the side of Amsterdam
Just by my left brain, just by the side of the Tin man
I'm sorry, brother... I'm sorry, I let cha down
Well, these days you're fine - No these days you tend to lie
You'll take the West train, just by the side of Amsterdam
Just by your left brain, just by the side of the Tin man
Your time will come if you wait for it, if you wait for it
It's hard, believe me... I've tried
But I keep coming up short
I'm sorry, lover... You're sorry; I bring you down
Well, these days I try and these days I tend to lie
Kinda thought I was a mystery and then I thought I wasn't meant to be
You said yourself fantastically, "Congratulations you were all alone"
Your time will come if you wait for it, if you wait for it
It's hard, believe me... I've tried
Your time will come if you wait for it, if you wait for it
It's hard, believe me... I've tried
But the rain won't fall for the both of us
The sun won't shine on the both of us
Believe me when I say, that I wouldn't have it any other way
Your time will come if you wait for it, if you wait for it
It's hard, believe me... I've tried
But I won't wait much longer 'cause these walls they're crashing down
And I won't wait much longer 'cause these walls they're crashing down
Painted faces everywhere, I do not see a one Deas dogs are lying upside down, moulding in the sun I'm looking for a friendly face, something to remind me of home But the girl with the lipstick and the flashing eyes she doesn't give me none
Chorus: Down in the Vondel Park, kids are gonna jump and shout Down in the Melkweg, the heat is on It's smoking and knocking them out, that's Amsterdam, Amsterdam. Somebody give me a ticket, I want to fly back home I want to see my best friend cause I know she's all alone She's the sweet and lightness I've been looking for Honey, honey, where are you? Just can't take no more
Chorus
Down in the Vondel Park, kids are gonna jump and shout Down in the Melkweg, it is hot It's smoking and knocking them out, that's Amsterdam Well I'm looking, looking for somewhere, a hole to hide I'm riding on the cobble stones but I haven't got a plane to ride Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day they'll let me go away Oh baby, there's so many many times and I hate to feel this way
Chorus
To the coffee shop on a rented bike, 8 a.m.
Feeling strangely close to home,
here with my closest friends.
Amsterdam! With a camera in my hand
And a parking cone in the other.
It's times like this mean everything.
Amsterdam I miss you.
When did you grow those giant horns?
Oh I forgot, that the world is upside down.
At least to the rest of us right now.
Amsterdam! With a camera in my hand
And a parking cone in the other.
It's times like this mean everything.
Amsterdam I miss you.
Sunrise, our eyes ever so bright.
Are burning holes in your streets.
Our hearts beat for you.
Your streets,
Our hearts beat for you.
The best part,
Is when we see how far we've come.
Amsterdam! With a camera in my hand
And a parking cone in the other.
It's times like this mean everything.

E. Ah 1, 2, ah 1, 2, yeah. First time I went it was with A.G. & Big L.
1999 Fat Beats Anniversary. Dilated Peoples.
[Verse 1:]
The place was stuck in my head, little increments of lead
The first day was like the hospital bed
The Netherlands I was panickin', ridin' around ambulance
Amsterdam dumbin' out, Cannabis Cup
Animated everybody was, rainin' still hot enough
Trains, trolley cars, live as fuck
I stay in a one star
Don't need the five cause I'm live on 101 bars
You know the odds, I'm a? fan, eatin' at any kabob stand
Cold as ice, run the shit, on or off land
And it's dry water, super flow, Sargent I Slaughter
Any odd person that shows that I oughta
I keep my passport passed on
This year introduced the one they call Fashawn
Fugee Craig, still keepin' my mask on
Last long and anything that's past is passed on
[Talking: Fashawn]
Niggas call it the gray area cause it's gray and shit over there right.
"Amsterdam"
I don't know if you know that. They got a smoke shoppe over there. This is for the gray area.
Ayo, the first time I was in Amsterdam, was with Hectic, my man Evidence.

[Verse 2:]
The place was stuck in my head, eyes burgundy red
My first time visiting was with Ev
The world Layover Tour
09, traveled to Netherlands
We tore it down, hit the coffee shoppes for the medicine
Thought I saw a red light, tryin' to keep my head tight
By starin' at a nympho, posted behind some window
If I go any further that'll be too much info
But fuck it, shouldn't gave me a pencil
And now it's like a song embedded in my memory
Had they hands up, see more arms than a centipede
Can't wait to go back
Nothin' like the first time
When I brought my Kodak
Sit back and press rewind
I don't think I'll ever get homesick
I ain't been home since
Globetrottin'
Switchin' time zones, the whole shit
The flights, the road trips
Peace to Cookin' Soul
I be back overseas before you know it
Grey area
[Talking: Jerreau]
Yeah. Okay.
"Amsterdam"
It's sly news ya heard? It's Jerreau ya heard? Evidence ya heard? Mick Boogie ya heard? Let's go.
"Amsterdam was stuck in my head"
Okay
"Oh, it's a kind of stupid groove
Yeah, look.
[Verse 3:]
On a world tour
Monkey Wrench, they my man
Fly each and every place with Blackberrys in hand
Leavin' e'rything behind, I call that your past
But I'll be back with more memories and shopping bags
They embrace us like it's our home
When all around the world, they singin' the same song
You only die once but you can live forever
So I put my life in my music, however
Y'all kill me
I just play dead
I got big city dreams
Don't wake me ya hear?
But you believe, if nobody dead, it's better to give than receive
I give 'em all of me
And they keep tryin' me
Like, if at first you don't succeed
I just bounce back like bad checks, hit or miss
You shoot for the stars and brick
You air ball, I ball like this
And if you say what you feel you must feel bad
Cause y'all ain't sayin' nothin' good
I'm all I ever had
Shout out to the richest of the broke rappers
Y'all wait till the price go down
I'm in another country, 'nother town
Gettin' cultured
How you gonna stop us now?
There's a means to an end
I'm makin' ends meet
For a lot of y'all rappers it's the beginning of the end
So run tell a friend
Yeah
"Amsterdam was stuck in my head"
Everything is ready for the biggest trip
we're waiting for the sunshine trying not to get sick
we're studying the map looking for the shortest way
I'm sure we'll be there by the end of the day
jump in the car, it's not even so far
nothing can stop us, not even our mamas
oh baby, I know that today
we're gonna meet the city of sin and pleasure
I know we're going to stay
just until our brains are empty and dead on the floor
I hope to remember the way
to get back to home and tell to my neighbours and friends
stories of the city of dreams
amsterdam
the road is pretty boring, we're driving real fast
we're five in a car with a tape of j.cash
we're just like muslims going to the mecca

Dans le port d'Amsterdam
Y a des marins qui chantent
Les rêves qui les hantent
Au large d'Amsterdam
Dans le port d'Amsterdam
Y a des marins qui dorment
Comme des oriflammes
Le long des berges mornes
Dans le port d'Amsterdam
Y a des marins qui meurent
Pleins de bière et de drames
Aux premières lueurs
Mais dans le port d'Amsterdam
Y a des marins qui naissent
Dans la chaleur épaisse
Des langueurs océanes
Dans le port d'Amsterdam
Y a des marins qui mangent
Sur des nappes trop blanches
Des poissons ruisselants
Ils vous montrent des dents
A croquer la fortune
A décroisser la lune
A bouffer des haubans
Et ça sent la morue
Jusque dans le cur des frites
Que leurs grosses mains invitent
A revenir en plus
Puis se lèvent en riant
Dans un bruit de tempête
Referment leur braguette
Et sortent en rotant
Dans le port d'Amsterdam
Y a des marins qui dansent
En se frottant la panse
Sur la panse des femmes
Et ils tournent et ils dansent
Comme des soleils crachés
Dans le son déchiré
D'un accordéon rance
Ils se tordent le cou
Pour mieux s'entendre rire
Jusqu'à ce que tout à coup
L'accordéon expire
Alors le geste grave
Alors le regard fier
Ils ramènent leur batave
Jusqu'en pleine lumière
Dans le port d'Amsterdam
Y a des marins qui boivent
Et qui boivent et reboivent
Et qui reboivent encore
Ils boivent à la santé
Des putains d'Amsterdam
De Hambourg ou d'ailleurs
Enfin ils boivent aux dames
Qui leur donnent leur joli corps
Qui leur donnent leur vertu
Pour une pièce en or
Et quand ils ont bien bu
Se plantent le nez au ciel
Se mouchent dans les étoiles
Et ils pissent comme je pleure
Sur les femmes infidèles
Dans le port d'Amsterdam

Johnny was an Englishman, from Derbyshire was he
He had a wife so beautiful, had children one to three
He loved them all so dearly, as only Johnny could
And always did exactly as he should
Then one day he took a trip across the channel white
To where the streets are narrow, and bathed in crimson light
He lives there to this day inside his dirty rotten shell
This British lion now becomes a lamb
Amsterdam!
William was a sailor, upon the raging main
Made port in London, Boston, New York, Germany and Spain
He loved the girls so dearly, until their hearts were won
Then sailed away into the setting sun
Breakfast on the table, Porter when you're dry
She'll love you in the morning, she'll love you 'till you die
She'll love you 'till the day she's spent all your pay
She's the devil's holy water by the dram
Amsterdam!
So come all ye sailors, who live upon the main
Remember dear old Jimmy when he left upon that train
He wanders round old Amsterdam a-lookin' for his fix
And Willy's life is never free of kicks
Breakfast on the table, Porter when you're dry
She'll love you in the morning, she'll love you 'till you die
She'll love you 'till the day she's spent all your pay
She's the devil's holy water by the dram
Last time I saw him,
He didn't look well.
He was checking into
a Brown Hotel.
Lost the will to leave this
Cage he adores.
And it doesn't even look like
A cage anymore.
Who's going to bring him back
from the end of every friendship he's ever had?
Who's going to bring him back?
Sometimes on a clear day he can see all the way to
Amsterdam.
Last time I saw him,
He looked too pale.
He's had too many wishes from this
wishing well.
[innaud.] in his arms is
Soft and warm.
But he still can't keep the spirits from the door.
Who's going to bring him back
from the end of every friendship he's ever had?
Try to bring him back.
Sometimes on a clear day he can see all the way to
Underground or Aeroplane
Doesn't matter in the end
I know it has to be this way
Youre leaving me again
So I'll write my little love song
And sing it to the wind
Youre out there on the road tonight
London, New York, Amsterdam
And I'm lonely here without you
Miss your breath against my skin
You love me then you leave me
Still I lie here pressing fingers where your kisses have been
And I miss you
And I miss you
And I miss you
I know I should be in bed
And its almost 3am
But when I close my eyes I can only see miles of headlights
Fleshing out the distance
So I'll sing my little lonely songs
Its just part of who I am
Cause I know that its been calling to you

Allein in einer fremden Stadt

Traum von Amsterdam
Der die Hoffnung nahm
Allein in einer fremden Stadt
Allein in Amsterdam
Heut' sag' ich, es war einmal
Märchen voll Angst und Qual
Elfen, Prinz und gute Feen
War'n für uns nicht vorgeseh'n
Halt mich, hast du oft gesagt
Wie, hab ich dich dann gefragt?
Liebe hat total versagt
In Amsterdam
In Amsterdam
Traum von Amsterdam
Der die Hoffnung nahm
Allein in einer fremden Stadt
Allein in Amsterdam
Regenbogengold
Haben wir gewollt
Rote Rosen soll'n vom Himmel fallen
In Amsterdam
Traum von Amsterdam
Der die Hoffnung nahm
Allein in einer fremden Stadt
Allein in Amsterdam
Regenbogengold
Haben wir gewollt
Rote Rosen soll'n vom Himmel fallen
Und nie verblüh'n
Traum von Amsterdam
Der die Hoffnung nahm
Allein in einer fremden Stadt
Allein in Amsterdam
Regenbogengold
Haben wir gewollt
Rote Rosen soll'n vom Himmel fallen
Und nie verblüh'n
Traum von Amsterdam
Der die Hoffnung nahm
Allein in einer fremden Stadt
Allein in Amsterdam

I was born a thousand million miles away
in the forest they call Amsterdam.
I'm a direct relation of the kings and queens
though they won't say that I am.
But if they ever find me, they will know. (x4)
That
I didn't tell them anything.
They asked me to but I pretended
I was sick or blind or deaf,
That I had nothing in my head.
That I was just a normal man,
Who floats in space because he can.
Who doesn't know just where he's from
But knows these questions are all wrong.
But (ooh) they were wrong (x3).
We're not alone.
I didn't tell them anything (x8)
I'm sitting in the room with the light in my face.
I'm sitting in the room with the alien race.
I'm sitting up here a thousand million miles away.
I'm sitting in the room with the light in my face.
I'm sitting in the room with the alien race.
I'm sitting up here a thousand million miles away.
In the port of Amsterdam there`s a sailor who sings
Of the dreams that he brings from the wide open sea.
In the port of Amsterdam there`s a sailor who sleeps
While the river bank weeps to the old willow tree.
In the port of Amsterdam there`s a sailor who dies
Full of beer, full of cries in a drunkin` down fight.
But in the port of Amsterdam there`s a sailor who`s
born
On a muggy, hot morn by the dawns early light.
In the port of Amsterdam where the sailors all meet
There`s a sailor who eats only fish-heads and tails.
He will show you his teeth that have rotted too soon.
That can swallow the moon that can haul up the sails.
And he asks to the cook with his arms open wide.
Bring me more fish, put it down by my side.
And he wants so to belch, but he`s too full to try.
So he gets up and he laughs and he zips up his fly.
In the port of Amsterdam you can see sailors dance.
Haunches bursting their pants, binding woman to paunch.
They`ve forgotten the tune that their whiskey voice
croaks.
And they`re aplitting the night with the roar of their
jokes.
And they turn and they dance and they laugh and they
lust.
To the rats it sounds of the accordion burst.
Then it`s out into the night with their pride in their
pants.
With a slut that they tow underneath the street lamps.
In the port of Amsterdam there`s a sailor who drinks.
And he drinks and he drinks and he drinks once again.
He drinks to the health of the whores of Amsterdam.
Who have promised their love to a thousand other men.
And they darken their bodies and their virtue long gone
For a few dirty coins. And then when he can`t go on
He plants his nose in the sky And he wipes it up above
And he splits like I cry for an unfaithful love.
In the port of Amsterdam.
In the port of Amsterdam.
I come from a time that hasnt happened yet,
And I have been better - but I can't quite remember when.
He works two jobs, gives half his pay to the government.
Now tell yourself that your not killing yourself to live.
And that's the excuse, for our drug abuse.
There was a time when America was my life
And now it feels we are living a lie (living a lie)
From the time I wake to the time I sleep everything is just too much for me.
We take the pills, to keep the nausea at bay,
And now they take us and we feel worse than yesterday.
Throw a war against the wall see if it sticks
And if it doesn't oh well, at least were white and rich.
There was a time when America was my life
And now it feels we are living a lie (living a lie)
From the time I wake to the time I sleep
Everything is just too much for me.
Farewell, farewell, farewell, farewell,
My sweet friends I have moved myself to,
Moved myself to Amsterdam, Amsterdam in detest of our futile war
In the rain in Amsterdam
I thought I saw you
In a window looking back
Over your shoulder
In the rain in Amsterdam
I was writing to you
On a postcard
I never bothered to send
There were doves
Circling above me
And tulips all around
What were you trying to tell me?
I could not make it out.
In the rain in Amsterdam
I thought I caught you
Bent over the canals
Gazing at your own reflection
In the rain in Amsterdam
I saw little of the city
Only water, so much water
Falling in a veil around me
Who's to say how long
I REMEMBER THIS CITY IT WAS YEARS AGO YELLING CHILDREN AND A SCHOOLBELL WAS RINGING COLOURLESS THOUGHTS FROM EIGHT TILL FOUR AND THE TIME YEAH THE TIME WAS SLIPPING AWAY
AMSTERDAM ANOTHER DARK CITY WHERE HEROINFACES STILL HANGING AROUND AND ALL THOSE YEARS I SPEND A LIFETIME BUT STILL I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HEY SOMETIMES I MISS YOU
(CHORUS)
DOWN DOWN TO THE PLACE I USED TO LIVE AND WHERE I COME FROM FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM THE PLACE I USED TO STAY IS WHERE THE HEART IS AND WHERE THE LOVE LIVES
ALL THESE TOURISTBOATS STRANGERS AT NIGHT WALKED DOWN THE STREET WITH THE RED LIGHT SO BRIGHT AND THEN THEY OBSERVED THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT WHILE HIDING THEIR FACES LIKE THIEVES IN THE NIGHT
AMSTERDAM DARK GREY AND COLD I REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT MY TEACHER ONCE TOLD THESE WORDS ARE BANGING LIKE A HAMMER IN MY HEAD "HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS" HEY WHAT'S A HEART WITHOUT A HOME ?
(CHORUS)
I went to Amsterdam
I got so lost
Down the way
I took the crooked path
I wish that I'd never stayed
I cannot change the past
Can I change?
Change the past?
Ticket in hand to leave
I sit on the train and think of you
Your face in the photograph
I run my finger down your cheek
I cannot change the past
Can I change?
Change the past?
I cannot change the past
