A sweater, jumper, pullover, jersey or guernsey is a knit garment intended to cover the torso and arms, popular with both men and women, and children of all ages. It is often worn over a shirt, blouse, T-shirt, or other top, but may also be worn alone as a top. Sweaters tend to be, and in earlier times always were, made from wool; however, they can be made of cotton, synthetic fibers, or some combination thereof. Sweaters are maintained by washing, and the use of a lint roller.
The term "sweater" is a catch-all for various types of knit garments. A fundamental division is between a cardigan (which opens in front) and a pullover (which does not). If the sweater has no sleeves, it is generally called a sweater vest or tank top, or, in the UK, very commonly a "sleeveless pullover" which will very usually have a V neck and can be worn semi-formally; in UK parlance such a sleeveless garment would only be called a "tank top" if it had a square or scooped neck and a generally juvenile appearance.; a "vest" in British English refers to the same item as "undershirt" in American English.

Plot
Nathan, a teen, along with his friend, Karen, finds a website that has photos of children who are missing or believed to have been abducted. They decide to age one of the photos and discover that it is of Nathan as a child. He contacts the person who placed the photo to find out what's going on. The person on the other end only wants to know info about Nathan, so Nathan hangs up. That person then contacts someone in Europe and shows him a photo of the one who called. He then heads for the U.S. Nathan then wonders if it's true he was abducted. He tells his "mom" who then tells him she and his "father" will tell him. But before they can, two men claiming to be cops show up wanting to talk to Nathan, and when he isn't found they pull guns and demand Nathan be given to them. His parents fight them but are killed. Nathan runs but remembers that he asked Karen to come over and one of them tries to get rough with her but Nathan saves her and they escape just as the house blows up. They go to the hospital so that Karen can be treated. Nathan calls 911 to report what happened but finds himself talking to a man named Burton who says he's with the CIA and that his parents were, too. He tells Nathan to wait for some people he is sending to pick him up, but Nathan's therapist shows up telling him that they have to go. She tells him that she and his parents were asked by his real father to take care of him. She warns him not to trust Burton. She tells him to go an apartment in Virginia. When he gets there, he sees the kind of person his father is. When Karen tries to call her relatives, her call is again intercepted by the CIA. Nathan decides to get out and sets out to find his mother whose address he found in his father's apartment.

it was like this in 1999
it was like this in 1874
it was like this when you were a child
it was like this when i was a whore, well
there were massive troops on the back of the isles
they were saying those things, they were all in denial
they were talkin about their own front
let me tell it like, it smelled like shit and they
and theyre eatin popcorn out of a dish
theyre sayin "i wish, i wish, i wish"
i was there in 1999, i was left and i left my old self behind
still livin but you know im not denying
said what i said, and i said this
in 1918 things were better when i was nothin but a sweater
now im born again as another man
im livin on this in this foreign land
i used to be andora, angora fleece, isnt no sound and i eat in peace
and noone knew, and noone cared, and you didnt know whether you wanted to dare
its not what you were thinkin them and as your resurrection breathed out cinnamon
and i was not to be confused
and then in 1882 they still sold it to those fucks
things have been goin wrong since the beginning
and noone was loosin and noone was winning
they just fucked each other up
and in 1999 i was in a park in chicago
oh that was nice
he was like a father and he know what he was sayin and wait
im not talkin about this bullshit
and i went to talk to the more italian boys who hung out there
they said that they would rather see me dead or at least not kept
and they broke my jaw and i was left to thaw
and i walked away and i called my mom and said
hell yeah it sucked yeah i loved it break my jaw now!
you hang on you hang on
you got your rent on and you were just sayin uhh
one thing you remembered you were never even once bein cleaver
then you were, when sleepin, you were sleepin when their sayin when there was a phone yeah
mistakes were made and i ended up in florida
things were not right i didnt care though
what ya do, and what ya become, either way ya end up all dumb
thats all right with me now, thats all right with me now 1-2 1-2 me with
the troops they were massing on the porch, they wanted to be the only thorn
and in the court of the goff goff senate i hear things are better and noones really tougher
and your talkin loud and your talkin proud in your trumpet now.. ohhhhhhhh shit!
well ya said then, what ya meant then, what ya did then, was ya wanna have sex
and you did not do, you could not do, ya could not pull out but ya tried to
then ya said well i dont need, i dont need to wear myself a bikini today!
it brings me to the embarassment, i was sittin on a raft in pond sediment
and they said hell yeah, oh hell yeah, you looked naked for shit but you were drunk you didnt care
well what were you thinkin
CHORUS
I could never wear that sweater
I could never wear that sweater
My grandpa gave me hand-me-down
When I put it on I look like a clown
All the kids would beat me up at school
Made me itch cause it was made of wool
Leather bound buttons in a monkey shit brown
Everywhere i go people putting me down
When i go and do the little bottom buttons up
Makes me looke like I got a big beer gut
CHORUS
Coming home late on an afternoon
My lip was all bloody and my forehead all bruised
Singing all the blues like hoody led better
All because of that shitty brown sweater
Shitty little sweater causing too much pain
Hung it in the closet never wear it again
No disrespect to my grandpa
But this sweater incident has gone too far
CHORUS
Late last June I was buying some slacks
From favourite Op shop named Aunty Jacks
Took them back to my abode
Had a good look through my big wardrobe
Then I spyed that certain sweater
But somehow it looks so much better
When I put it on no turning back
Even look good with my new brown slacks
Diamonds and dust
Poor man last, rich man first
Lambourginis, caviar
Dry martinis, Shangri-la
I got a burning feeling
Deep inside of me
It's yearning
But I'm going to set it free
CHORUS:
I'm going in to sin city
I'm gonna win in sin city
Where the lights are bright
Do the town tonight
I'm gonna win in sin city
(I'm gonna rule you baby)
Ladders and snakes
Ladders give, snakes take
Rich man, poor man, beggarman, thief
Ain't got a hope in hell, that's my belief
Fingers Freddy, Diamond Jim
They're getting ready, look out I'm coming in
So spin that wheel, cut that pack
And roll those loaded dice
Bring on the dancing girls
And put the champaign on ice
CHORUS
If I had met her wearing the sweater
I would feel better than I do today
She would deplore me and just stand there in the door
Would come out to play with me then I would show you the ways of the sea
Have you got time for me love
Walk out and follow me
Followed the daughter, looked into the water
Walked out the water and I caught hold of her hand
Pulling me under my ears filled with thunder
Like a peal of bells falling out of the sky
So I begin to feel that life is fine
Fine
The thing was in the light oo oo oh
To see
What I mean
If I had met her wearing the sweater
I would feel better than I do today
Ignore me, stand in the doorway
Come out to play with me then I will show you the ways of the sea
Follow me
I will show you the ways of the sea
Walk out and follow me
On the day
You gave me back my sweater
With the sweetest sway
You said it would not matter
Right or wrong
This will make things better
And we tried, and we tried, and we tried to sort it out
And we came, and we came, and we came to find out
Try roads, fly planes, ride bullet trains
Try roads, fly planes, ride bullet trains
The best way out is the worst anyway
You’re in a way
A neatly combed disaster
Easy to say
When it makes us get there faster
Cause we tried, and we tried, and we tried to sort it out
And we came, and we came, and we came to find out
Try roads, fly planes, ride bullet trains
Try roads, fly planes, ride bullet trains
