Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) joined MSNBC's Alex Wagner on Thursday for a wide-ranging and contentious interview focused on President Barack Obama's push for American intervention in the Syrian civil war. What followed was a tense and heated exchange between the two ideologically unaligned figures about the need for intervention in Syria, American foreign policy in general, and Paul's speaking before "anti-Semitic" groups. Wagner opened by asking about a recent interview Paul conducted with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on his web-based interview program, but the conversation quickly turned to the push for intervention in Syria. Paul questioned the "so-called gas deaths" in Syria supposedly ordered by President Bashar al-Assad and suggested that pro-intervention advocates have absolved the rebel factions fighting against Assad of any malfeasance. "Do you really think President Obama is looking for a reason to go to war in Syria," Wagner asked She noted that the president has been reluctant to go to war. "I think the pressure comes from the people around him," Paul said. "It might be contradicting some of his self-instincts." Paul said that the leadership of both the Democratic and Republican Parties in Congress are behind Syrian intervention in opposition to rank-and-file opinion.

Ron Paul full "In Depth" interview C-SPAN 8/3/14
Vote for Ron Paul in 2012 Tim Tebow bill oreilly Republicans in the state of Iowa will gather today to cast their vote in the caucuses that will largely impact the presidential race, and all eyes are on Ron Paul as the Texas Congressman holds the lead in the polls.Mitt romney, rick santorum,Glenn beck,Daily show, Following the bow out of Herman Cain and a schizophrenic surge up and down in the popularity of his peers, Rep. Ron Paul has rocketed to the forefront of the Republican Party in recent week, passing the competing gang of politicians also vying for the nomination. By Tuesday night, America will know the results of the Iowa Caucuses and could indeed have a clear idea of who could take the GOP's nomination and perhaps eventually the presidency. The last few surveys conducted by the Des Moines Register and Public Policy Polling put Paul either above the other frontrunners or neck-and-neck at first place. The Iowa caucus, the first among many during the presidential election year, have historically played a role in the rest of the race leading up to November. On Monday, Rep. Paul acknowledged the skyrocketing support that could propel him to victory today, but stayed strong in backing his word and the campaign promises he's made.

Here's a brief interview with Ron Paul in 1988 when he ran for president on the Libertarian ticket. Whatever you think of his opinions, the man is consistent (save for his change of heart regarding the death penalty -- a good change, methinks). Pay particular attention to his take on the Soviet Union. He was proven right on that one.

CNN finally released the full interview. It shows that Ron Paul didn't "storm off" - the interview was over. All parts of the interview that make Gloria Borger look ridiculous and provocative were cut out of the heavily edited and misleading version that aired on CNN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5LtbXG62es As you can see CNN aired the final segment (starting at 6:00) first, trying to create the false impression that Ron Paul terminated the interview just minutes after it had started. In reality the interview had already lasted a full 8 minutes and was effectively over, with no further questions being asked. Propagandist Borger ended the interview with an outrageous insinuation and lie: "Some of this stuff was very incendiary, you know... saying that in 1993 the Israelis were responsible for the bombing of the World Trade Center". The newsletters, politically incorrect as they might have been, NEVER made such a claim. That's pure propaganda. The corporate media will stop at nothing to discredit Ron Paul, but thanks to a growing understanding on part of the public of "how the system works", the media's efforts aren't just not working, they are backfiring. Ron Paul remains the undisputed frontrunner in Iowa (as documented by five consecutive polls by various organizations). Nationally, Ron Paul gained 5% on both Gingrich and Romney among Republican voters over the past 5 days during the worst phase of the media onslaught. http://www.theendrun.com/ron-paul-gains-5-on-gingrich-and-romney-in-5-days-despite-smears-gallup Spread the message.

Charlie Rose: "Non-intervention in personal life, non-intervention in foreign policy, non-intervention in..." Ron Paul: "There it is. Because it's sort of tells you what a conservative, a libertarian, constitutionalist, and liberal, classical liberalism has been used it's closely aligned with libertarianism, but non-intervention as you say. I don't want to interfere in your personal life. The one rule is you can't hurt another person, that's when government's necessary."

Former Texas congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul appeared on TheBlaze TV Tuesday to speak with Glenn Beck about his work to advance homeschooling through the Ron Paul Curriculum, in addition to the state of the country and the feasibility of a third party. Speaking about his new book, "The School Revolution: A New Answer for Our Broken Education System," Paul explained: "We have a broken system, and we have to offer them something else. Homeschooling's been around for a while...but most people now, and it's not just conservatives...realize the system isn't working." Everything from violence in schools to the fact that many have to be re-taught how to write and spell when they get to college, Paul said, indicates that the system is "very much broken." But it goes beyond that, he said. "I want to have a curriculum that talks about the freedom philosophy, and people thinking along these terms, and have a different perspective on history...and economics," Dr. Paul remarked. "To change the atmosphere with the idea of getting young people prepared either to go to college, or start their own business." Beck agreed, and said he believes the public school system is forcing Americans into a box where we all have to think the same way and at the same pace. But he also noted that many parents may be intimidated by the prospect of homeschooling their children. "If I had to sit down and explain physics at this moment, I'd have to work at it," Paul admitted in response. "[But] it's not like the parent has to know every single thing ... There will be lectures on the Internet, and communication among the students." The two also discussed how to break down the barriers between left and right, with Paul saying he prefers to use the word "non-intervention" to describe his viewpoints as opposed to a label like "conservative" or "liberal." "I want to be non-interventionist in our personal lives and how we raise our kids...I don't want intervention in the economy, so I become a free market economist. And then I also follow the Founders' admonition that we shouldn't be involved in the internal affairs of other nations," he explained. "And all of the sudden you pick up support from the left and you pick up support from the right, but it comes together as a consistent philosophy..." After a commercial break, Beck received a call that his daughter went into labor and was having her baby, and was replaced by his executive producer Stu Burguiere. Burguiere noted that Beck has been "flirting" with the idea of a third party, having "given up on the Republicans completely" with the exception a few lawmakers like Paul's son, and asked what Paul would say on the issue. "I understand the frustration because there's a lot of that, and I get the question a whole lot," Paul said with a laugh. "I say it's time for a second party. Because we just have one party there, they're the same on all the big issues." Paul said the Republicans and Democrats "argue over power," but not really the direction of the country. But rather than start a third party, which would be extraordinarily difficult, even down to getting into the debates, Paul argued that it would be better to tackle "the intellectual climate that will change the ideas of both parties." "Ideas have to infiltrate the whole culture," he said, "and...you have to get Republicans and Democrats and Independents to agree." While larger reforms may come some day, Paul asserted: "I think the crisis is going to come much sooner...The race is, can we convert enough people to believing and understanding free market economics and why liberty is the issue, and why balanced budgets are important? That is the race. Because the collapse is coming, and then the question is what are we going to rebuild it with?" "Are we going to allow the authoritarians who destroyed our system to rebuild it and put it into another one, and then have another dictatorship of sorts? Or are we going to reform, refine, and do an even better job than the Founders did and work in the direction of personal liberty?" he asked. "And that of course is the side that I'm on, and I tend to be optimistic that a lot of people are joining us in this effort."

Wilhelm Richard Wagner (/ˈvɑːɡnər/; German: [ˈʁiçaʁt ˈvaːɡnɐ]; 22 May 1813 – 13 February 1883) was a German composer, theatre director, polemicist, and conductor who is primarily known for his operas (or, as some of his later works were later known, "music dramas"). Unlike most opera composers, Wagner wrote both the libretto and the music for each of his stage works. Initially establishing his reputation as a composer of works in the romantic vein of Weber and Meyerbeer, Wagner revolutionised opera through his concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk ("total work of art"), by which he sought to synthesise the poetic, visual, musical and dramatic arts, with music subsidiary to drama, and which was announced in a series of essays between 1849 and 1852. Wagner realised these ideas most fully in the first half of the four-opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung). His compositions, particularly those of his later period, are notable for their complex textures, rich harmonies and orchestration, and the elaborate use of leitmotifs—musical phrases associated with individual characters, places, ideas or plot elements. His advances in musical language, such as extreme chromaticism and quickly shifting tonal centres, greatly influenced the development of classical music. His Tristan und Isolde is sometimes described as marking the start of modern music. Wagner had his own opera house built, the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, which embodied many novel design features. It was here that the Ring and Parsifal received their premieres and where his most important stage works continue to be performed in an annual festival run by his descendants. His thoughts on the relative contributions of music and drama in opera were to change again, and he reintroduced some traditional forms into his last few stage works, including Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (The Mastersingers of Nuremberg). Until his final years, Wagner's life was characterised by political exile, turbulent love affairs, poverty and repeated flight from his creditors. His controversial writings on music, drama and politics have attracted extensive comment in recent decades, especially where they express antisemitic sentiments. The effect of his ideas can be traced in many of the arts throughout the 20th century; their influence spread beyond composition into conducting, philosophy, literature, the visual arts and theatre.

ESPN 30 for 30 Short, The Deal - Alex Rodriguez To The Boston Red Sox In 2004, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox went after the best player in the game: Alex Rodriguez. The Babe Ruth of his time, with a pristine image and gargantuan contract, Rodriguez had but one request - He would only play for the Yankees or the Red Sox. That winter, the two rivals went for the golden boy and only one could prevail. This historic winter of rumors, controversies, and money is captured in The Deal, an ESPN Films "30 for 30: Short" produced and directed by The Barnicle Brothers. Using first hand perspective from the likes of Larry Lucchino, Brian Cashman, John Hart, and Theo Epstein, The Deal takes a comprehensive look at one of baseball's wildest trades and offers an insider's perspective into the arms race between the Sox and Yankees and the man who stood at the center of it all, the reigning MVP: Alex Rodriguez. The Deal is the latest project from Nick and Colin Barnicle, an award-winning duo of filmmakers whose passion for storytelling is only matched by their love of sports. After founding Prospect Productions in 2010, they have worked alongside producing partner Jeff Siegel to tell stories that humanize the intersection of culture and sports through the lens of those on the field, in the stands and behind-the-scenes. Their work has been featured on CBS, MSNBC, CNN, Huffington Post, Grantland and MLB.com and included unique interviews with Ed Burns, Keith Olbermann and Pete Hamill, among many others. In 2013, the team directed and produced the ESPN Films "30 for 30: Short" Holy Grail: The T206 Honus Wagner that showcased the dramatic story behind one of the most lucrative baseball cards in history.

Looking at an electro music video on my laptop.
Yet again, MSNBC had to issue an on-air apology, after one of its left-wing guests on Wednesday made an outrageous statement. On Now With Alex Wagner, Ebony.com's senior editor Jamilah Lemieux responded to Senator Ted Cruz's statement about listening to country music after 9/11 by snarking, "Nothing says, let's go kill some Muslims like country music....I mean, really? That's absurd." [video below] Fill-in anchor Ari Melber apparently recognized the offensive nature of Lemieux's remark, as he responded by pointing out that "there's plenty of country music that doesn't have that message." Minutes later, Melber read a statement about the editor's comment: "A guest made a comment about country music. That comment was not appropriate, and we want to be clear: this network does not condone it." Lemieux appeared on a panel discussion segment with MSNBC regular Joan Walsh and former RNC Chairman Michael Steele. Melber turned to the Ebony.com writer first. After dropping his retort at his guest for her remark, the anchor prompted Walsh for her take on Senator Cruz's musical claim. Predictably, the editor-in-chief of the far-left Salon.com attacked the Texas politician as well – though she avoided descending to the level of Lemieux: ARI MELBER: I guess part of the question, Joan, is whether his musical taste should be determined by foreign policy events – terrorism – however terrible. I mean, here in New York, a lot of people looked at 9/11 – saw it as a terrible, murderous event. We had a serious response to it. It's hard to follow – and I'm trying to understand what he's saying – it's hard to follow how you would then say, well, I'm going to give up on a genre.
After a guest made a disparaging comment about country music, MSNBC host Ari Melber apologized on-air Wednesday afternoon and informed his audience that the network does not condone such remarks. During a Now w/ Alex Wagner conversation about GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz‘s statement that he became a country music fan directly after 9/11, guest Jamilah Lemieux opened up the conversation with this remark: “Nothing says ‘Let’s go kill some Muslims’ like country music, fresh from Lynchburg, Virginia. Someone who obviously does not want to be a polarizing candidate, he wants to bring people together, I mean — really? That’s absurd.” While co-panelists Joan Walsh and Michael Steele could be heard laughing at Lemieux’s remark, guest-host Melber responded: “Well, I mean there’s plenty of country music that doesn’t have that message, right?” A few segments later, Melber appeared on-air with an apology: “We have a programming note. A few minutes ago on this show, a guest made a comment about country music. That comment was not appropriate, and we want to be clear this network does not condone it.”
