Story short. The Mahoney family lost their matriarch. Steve Mahoney and Bonnie Crombie agreed not to attend this debate because of Mr. Mahoney's mom's funeral. Crombie, quite legitimately committed to another event. Steve Mahoney changed his mind but let every candidate know at least 24 hours before. Crombie couldn't change her new commitment and sent a Letter of Regret. There you go. And here's the letter. LETTER BEGINS --video transcript "Bonnie Crombie regrets that she is not able to attend this evening's debate. A few days ago, after the passing of Mr. Mahoney's mother, Bonnie and Steve decided not to attend tonight's debate --especially so as today was his mother's funeral. Out of respect for her and his family's grief, Bonnie did not think it would be right for her to attend tonight without Steve present. Mr. Mahoney has decided not to honour his commitment which is surprising. Bonnie has since made other plans, which she cannot cancel at this point. She wishes everyone a successful event and thanks the organizers for their invitation to attend." --from anointed Mayor Bonnie Crombie's "War Room" LETTER ENDS MISSISSAUGAWATCH refers to Councillor Bonnie Crombie as "anointed" because 1) Toronto Star's San Grewal of used "anointed" during the UTM Youth debate. And "anointed" was how the President of Forum Research summarized Mayor Hazel McCallion's endorsement of Bonnie Crombie. “It is clear that the royal touch of Queen Hazel has had the desired effect, and Bonnie Crombie is now firmly in the lead, after going neck and neck with Steve Mahoney for months. It is interesting that not only Crombie's approval have increased as a result of her anointment, so have Hazel's" --Forum Research President, Dr. Lorne Bozinoff. ANOINTED... Like. Are you planning to apply for Canadian citizenship or have you already submitted your application? Then there are certain tips that can make this process more efficient. Let's talk about some of these tips that you should know! Subscribe: http://bit.ly/factXtract factXtract on G+: http://bit.ly/GPlusfacts factXtract on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/1hsrQtA Facts discussed in this video: 1- Never Lie! To become a Canadian citizen, currently an adult applicant must have lived in Canada for at least 3 years or 1,095 days in the past four years before applying. While this waiting time might seem like a very long time, lying when submitting your documents might get you in huge trouble. The government of Canada recently started cracking down on suspicious applications. As an example on September 2012, it began the process of revoking the citizenship of 3,100 people suspected of lying to become Canadians. So while the prospect of obtaining Canadian citizenship might be very attractive, never lie! 2- Make sure that your knowledge of the official languages in Canada (ie English and French) is good. The rules related to applicants' knowledge of English and French have become much more difficult in recent years. Currently, adult applicants must send proof that they have adequate knowledge of English or French. If your application does not have proof, it will be considered incomplete and returned to you. Bottom line: improve your writing and speaking skills. 3- Take the citizenship test seriously In 2010, the Canadian government completely changed the citizenship test and now it requires a higher score to pass. It has also made questions about the Canadian history and values more challenging. As of December 2012, applicants have to get 15 out of 20 questions in the citizenship test correct, whereas previously they only needed to have 12 out of 20 correct answers. Government staff at the exam also ask detailed questions about the applicants life in Canada to test their verbal language ability. As a result of these tougher criteria, the failure rate of the citizenship test jumped from less than 4% in 2009 to nearly 15% in 2010. Nowadays, the citizenship test is much more serious and difficult than what it used to be. So take it seriously! 4- Bring all the necessary documents and more! It is better safe than sorry. You need to provide any evidence that convinces the citizenship staff at the exam that you have lived in Canada in the years before your application. Documents related to employment or studying, property documents, monthly bills, and translation of your passport (especially the stamped pages) can be helpful. 5- Be patient As the number of applicants in the past few years has greatly increased, the processing times currently are close to 24 months for most applications. This does not mean that your application will necessary be processed within the first two years of applying. Roughly 20% of applications now take more 21 months to process, so be patient! Hundreds of Canada's financial leaders gathered in Toronto to hear about the seismic changes in the world economy, and the decay of traditional alliances and international organizations. Conrad Black brought together a few distinguished panelists including British Politician Nigel Farage, Leader of the UK Independence Party and Canadian Born Mark Steyn writer and political commentator who now resides in the US. Discussed was the extreme disarray of Europe, the US mired in fiscal deficits and former great powers such as Russia and France in decline. Most recently the brits came calling for our Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney to head their Bank of England. As many world leaders have now noticed, Carney was able to steer Canada through the worst Global financial crisis in 80 years. Though Canada emerged from 2008 in possibly the best position of any of the major industrialized economies, global forces continue to threaten. Therefore we ask " What Role Does Canada Have in the World."

WorldNetDaily 2015-03-31Canadians (singular Canadian) are the people who are identified with the country of Canada. This connection may be genetic, residential, legal, historical, cultural or ethnic. For most Canadians, several (frequently all) of those types of connections exist and are the source(s) of them being considered Canadians.
Aside from the Aboriginal peoples, who according to the 2006 Canadian Census numbered 1,172,790, 3.8% of the country's total population, the majority of the population is made up of Old World immigrants and their descendants. After the initial period of French and then British colonization, different waves (or peaks) of immigration and settlement of non-aboriginal peoples took place over the course of nearly two centuries and continues today. Elements of Aboriginal, French, British and more recent immigrant customs, languages and religions have combined to form the culture of Canada and thus a Canadian identity. Canada has also been strongly influenced by that of its linguistic, geographic and economic neighbour, the United States.
Black Canadians is a designation used for people of Black African descent, who are citizens or permanent residents of Canada. The term specifically refers to Canadians with partial or direct Sub-Saharan African ancestry. The majority of Black Canadians are of Caribbean origin.
Black Canadians and other Canadians often draw a distinction between those of Afro-Caribbean ancestry and those of other African roots. The term African Canadian is sometimes used by Black Canadians who trace their heritage to the first slaves brought by British and French colonists to the mainland of North America, but many Blacks of Caribbean origin in Canada reject the term African Canadian as an elision of the uniquely Caribbean aspects of their heritage, and instead identify as Caribbean Canadian. Unlike in the United States where African American is the most widely accepted term, due to these tensions and controversies between the African and Caribbean communities the term "Black Canadian" is still accepted in the Canadian context. The vast majority of Black-targeted cultural and social institutions in Canada serve both the African-Caribbean-Canadian and African Canadian communities equally.
This is a list of Black Canadians, inclusive of multiracial people who are of partially Black heritage.
