Learning to recite the verses in PŪJĀ [Offerings] in Pāli with an English translation. This is a Buddhist offerings of lights, flowers, food, juice & incense,etc in the name of the Buddha, Dhamma & Saṇgha as symbolic act of respect and customary that gives a sense of happiness, peace and relief. The offering of light symbolizes the dispelling of darkness or ignorance through light. OFFERING OF FLOWERS This mass of flowers, fresh hued, fragrant and choice, I offer at the sacred lotus-like feet of the Noble Sage. I offer Thee, Lord Buddha, these flowers. May this virtue aid in my emancipation; Our bodies undergo decay, even as these flowers must fade. OFFERING OF FOOD O Lord! The Blessed One, may this food be kindly accepted by You, out of great compassion for us. OFFERING OF MEDICINAL DRINKS O Lord! The Blessed One, please accept these medicinal drinks as an offering to Thee, out of great compassion for us. OFFERING OF INCENSE With perfumed incense, made from fragrant substances, I honour the Exalted One, worthy of respect, who dispels the darkness (of ignorance). Buddhist Meditation encompasses a broad variety of gradual wholesome practice of self-development or spiritual cultivation according to the Noble Eight-fold Path (ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo) to gain right view or right understanding (wisdom) of the Four Noble Truths (cattāri ariyasaccāni) for the purpose of understanding & overcoming greed/covetous, hatred/aversion, and delusion/illusion (lobha, dosa and moha), to develop insight into the true nature of phenomena of the 5-khandhas/aggregates of the six senses in order to realize anicca (inconstant/flux), dukkha (stress/sorrowful) and anattā (insubstantiality/not-self) which leads to the realization of Nibbāna (Unbound/Unconditioned/Deathless), supramundane reality (Absolute Peace). Buddhist meditation is a wholesome mental and physical cultivation [Pāli: bhāvanā] which is non-superstitious, non-mystical & non-delusional.
