DeAnne Shirley Julius, CBE (born April 14, 1949) is a former CIA analyst and a British-based American economist, notable as a founder member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England.

She holds MA, PhD Degrees in Economics from the University of California and a B.Sc. Degree in Economics from Iowa State University.

She began her active career as a project economist with the World Bank in Washington and has handled extensive roles in the private sector. Since July 2003, she is the Chairman of Chatham House (formally known as The Royal Institute of International Affairs), in London. She is currently a non-executive director of BP and Roche Holding Ltd and a vice president of the Society of Business Economists. She also sits on the board of Jones Lang LaSalle.

Julius obtained a BSc in economics from Iowa State University; and an M.A. and PhD Degrees in Economics from the University of California.

She holds four honorary doctorates, from the University of Warwick, University of Birmingham, South Bank University and the University of Bath.

Mark J. Carney (born March 16, 1965) is the eighth and current governor of the Bank of Canada and the Chairman of the Financial Stability Board, an institution of the G20 based in Basel, Switzerland. These appointments were on October 4, 2007 (for a seven-year term), and on November 4, 2011 (for a three-year term). Carney achieved these positions by working his way up the ranks of Goldman Sachs, the Canadian Department of Finance, and the Bank of Canada as Deputy Governor. Carney has been credited with shielding Canada from the worst effects of the late-2000s financial crisis, and has earned recognition by the Financial Times and TIME magazine as a top figure in the financial world.

Mark Carney was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. His father Bob was a high school principal there, and later a professor of education at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, where the family moved when Carney was six years old. Carney has three siblings — older brother Sean, younger brother Brian and sister Brenda. His mother Verlie was an elementary school teacher before having her children. Carney and his brothers all studied at Harvard University.

Michael Cathel Fallon (born 14 May 1952, Scotland) is a British Conservative Party politician. He is the Member of Parliament for Sevenoaks, and as of September 2010 the deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party.

Michael Fallon is the son of a surgeon. He was educated at Craigflower School in Dunfermline, at Epsom College and at the University of St Andrews, where he obtained a MA in classics and ancient history in 1974.

After graduation he joined the Conservative Research Department, working first for Lord Carrington in the House of Lords until 1977 and then as European Desk Officer until 1979. In 1979 he became research assistant to Baroness Elles.

In July 1982 he was chosen as Conservative candidate for Darlington and fought the Darlington by-election on 24 March 1983 following the death of Ted Fletcher, the Labour MP. Although he lost to Labour's Ossie O'Brien by some 2,412 votes, just 77 days later he defeated O'Brien by 3,438 votes in the June 1983 election. He remained the MP there until the 1992 General Election when he was defeated by Labour's Alan Milburn by a margin of 2,798 votes.

Mark Gerard Hoban MP (born 31 March 1964) is a British Conservative Party politician and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Fareham, and the Financial Secretary to the Treasury.

Hoban was born in Peterlee and was educated at Durham's St Leonard's Catholic Comprehensive School and the London School of Economics where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1985.

He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1985 as a financial analyst, becoming a chartered account manager in 1990, and was appointed as a senior manager in 1992 until his election to parliament.

Hoban joined the Conservative Party in 1980, and in 1989 was elected as the treasurer of the Southampton Itchen Conservative Association and served until he was elected as the Association's vice chairman for two years in 1991.

He was the campaign manager for the local sitting Conservative MP Christopher Chope at both the 1987 and 1992 General Elections.

He contested the Tyneside seat of South Shields at the 1997 general election, finishing in second place some 22,153 votes behind the sitting Labour MP David Clark.
