Road surface or pavement (American English) is the durable surface material laid down on an area intended to sustain vehicular or foot traffic, such as a road or walkway. In the past cobblestones and granite setts were extensively used, but these surfaces have mostly been replaced by asphalt or concrete. Such surfaces are frequently marked to guide traffic. Today, permeable paving methods are beginning to be used for low-impact roadways and walkways.

The term road metal refers to the broken stone or cinders used in the construction or repair of roads or railways, and is derived from the Latin metallum, which means both "mine" and "quarry". Metalling is known to have been used extensively in the construction of roads by soldiers of the Roman Empire (see Roman road) but a limestone-surfaced road, thought to date back to the Bronze Age, has been found in Britain. Metalling has had two distinct usages in road surfacing. The term originally referred to the process of creating a gravel roadway. The route of the roadway would first be dug down several feet and, depending on local conditions, French drains may or may not have been added. Next, large stones were placed and compacted, followed by successive layers of smaller stones, until the road surface was composed of small stones compacted into a hard, durable surface. "Road metal" later became the name of stone chippings mixed with tar to form the road surfacing material tarmac. A road of such material is called a "metalled road" in Britain, a "paved road" in Canada and the USA, or a "sealed road" in Australia and New Zealand.

Bruce Greer (born 2 October 1961) is a native of Longview, Texas, USA. Greer arranged hymns for choir and piano by age twelve, and later received a full scholarship to Baylor University, where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Music degree in theory and composition.

Greer has had hundreds of choral, orchestral and piano works published.[1]^{[not in citation given]} In 1999, Bruce was awarded a Dove Award for best musical. He currently takes his music around the world, playing the piano and singing in Singapore, Malaysia, England, Canada as well as all over the United States.

Larkin Grimm (born September 18, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter and musician born in Memphis, Tennessee.

She was born into a monastic order called Holy Order of MANS. Larkin’s dad, one of nine kids who grew up in a German town in Ohio, is descended from the legendary Grimms' Fairy Tales creators and was a "bad boy" biker in the ’60s who got swept up into the "whole commune thing" when he fell in love with a blonde girl escaping empty bourgeois values. The Grimm family owns a music store in Dahlonega, Georgia, where she grew up. She earned a scholarship to study at Yale where she studied Architecture, Painting, and English Writing. At 20 years old she dropped out of Yale, and moved to Alaska, where she hiked and began to experiment with singing. Several months later she was convinced by a friend to return to Yale, where she began to record her first album, Harpoon, which was influenced by her experiences performing with the Dirty Projectors. She then moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where she has since produced another album called The Last Tree. Larkin's third album Parplar was released October 2008 by Young God Records.
