Editing guidelines for the Long Island Independent Media Center: As the purpose of the Independent Media Center suggests, it is a forum for marginalized voices, and will not tolerate material which seeks to undermine this basic tenet. Other than that, editing will be limited to that which serves to enhance the clarity of the material, or seeks to alter the length of it if absolutely necessary. Editing will not infringe upon the stylistic quality or the message of the contributor. (Perhaps contributors could review the work others have done as far as editing, to make sure they're okay with it? For example, should someone write an article, and use "womyn", and an editor was unaware that the unconventional spelling was intentional, the writer could explain this to the editor and not have his or her article distorted.) To post a message to all the list members, send email to imc-li-editorial@lists.indymedia.org. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to imc-li-editorial
Subscribe to imc-li-editorial by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
