Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into a natural environment that causes instability, harm, or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical systems or living organisms. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Pollution is often classed as point source or nonpoint source pollution. The Blacksmith Institute issues an annual list of the world's worst polluted places. In the 2007 issues the ten top nominees are located in Azerbaijan, China, India, Peru, Russia, Ukraine and Zambia.
Air pollution has always accompanied civilizations. Pollution started from the prehistoric times when man created the first fires. According to a 1983 article in the journal Science, "soot found on ceilings of prehistoric caves provides ample evidence of the high levels of pollution that was associated with inadequate ventilation of open fires." The forging of metals appears to be a key turning point in the creation of significant air pollution levels outside the home. Core samples of glaciers in Greenland indicate increases in pollution associated with Greek, Roman and Chinese metal production, but at that time the pollution was comparatively less and could be handled by nature.
William Sanford "Bill" Nye (born November 27, 1955), popularly known as Bill Nye the Science Guy, is an American science educator, comedian, television host, actor, mechanical engineer, and scientist. He is best known as the host of the Disney/PBS children's science show Bill Nye the Science Guy (1993–1998) and for his many subsequent appearances in popular media as a science educator.
William Sanford Nye was born in Washington, D.C., the son of Jacqueline (née Jenkins; c. 1920–2000), a codebreaker during World War II, and Edwin Darby "Ned" Nye (died 1997), also a World War II veteran whose experience in a Japanese prisoner of war camp led him to become a sundial enthusiast. Nye is a fourth-generation Washington, D.C. resident on his father's side of the family. After attending Lafayette Elementary and Alice Deal Junior High in the city, he was accepted to the private Sidwell Friends School on a partial scholarship, graduating in 1973. He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University, where one of his professors was Carl Sagan, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1977. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by The Johns Hopkins University in May 2008. In May 2011, Nye was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Willamette University where he was the keynote speaker for that year's commencement exercises.
Thomas Andrew Lehrer (born April 9, 1928) is an American singer-songwriter, satirist, pianist, and mathematician. He has lectured on mathematics and musical theater. Lehrer is best known for the pithy, humorous songs he recorded in the 1950s and 1960s.
His work often parodies popular song forms, though Lehrer usually creates original melodies when doing so. A notable exception is his song "The Elements", where he sets the names of the chemical elements to the tune of the "Major-General's Song" from Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. Lehrer's earlier work typically dealt with non-topical subject matter and was noted for its black humor, seen in songs such as "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park". In the 1960s, he produced a number of songs dealing with social and political issues of the day, particularly when he wrote for the U.S. version of the television show That Was The Week That Was.
In the early 1970s, he retired from public performances to devote his time to teaching mathematics and music theatre at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He did two additional performances in 1998 at a London gala show celebrating the career of impresario Cameron Mackintosh.
The corpse of mankind is floating down your stream
Raping everything but keeping the image clean
Is it will or is it gain?
The trick of being efficient yet undetectable
Keep the stream flowing and deceive the undesirables
Sometimes, I wanna get away
From all the confusion causin' pollution
I know you wish you could run away
From this substitution
'Cuz there's no solution to survive
Another day when I'm wakin' up
I turn on my TV on CNN
(Yeah)
Another homie done bit the dust
My best friends back up in da pen
Somebody hit the twin towers before
And the buildings came tumblin' down
All we could do is watch the tears while the people of America
Wondered how we let it go down
Then I heard a sound when I turned around
This old man said, "Pray for me"
(What he say?)
Said I have been in this world for eighty eight long years
And my nanas can stay for me
(What chu do)
I looked him in his eyes
And gave him a smile
I said, "Mister I don't mean no harm"
But you ain't goin' nowhere
So just pull up a chair
I got green fresh off the farm
(What happened?)
An' with that he pulled a bottle
From his pocket and said young'n ima
Give it a try
(Give it a try boy)
I said, "Hold up pops I ain't forget 'bout the nada that you promised"
So go and pass it by
Then he said
"Sometimes I wanna get away
From all the confusion causin' pollution
I know you wish you could run away
From this substitution
'Cuz there's no solution to survive"
From dusk to dawn Mom's always telling me
You must move on let the past be the last thing that dusts you son
And I trust you mom but that doesn't dif my luvs for fun
Wanna bus' my gun wasn't much to some
Didn't measure up to most
Started walking down the road to the
Treasure off the coast you just never fuckin' know
What your gonna see who your gonna be who your gonna meet
It's true your gonna be sleeping slippin' into silence
Shotguns firin', choppers and sirens
Spotlights shine flashin' on the glance
And a poke a doted chance and
A devil doin' the dance
Then
I know you wanna run away
(Haa aaa aaa)
I know you wanna run away
(Haa aaa aaa)
I know you wanna run away
(Haa aaa aaa)
I know you wanna run away
(Haa aaa aaa)
I'm just sayin' dog
Livin' my life shinin' hopin'
I'm just sayin dog
Just chasin' the dreams that I be hopin'
I'm just sayin' dog
Something that will make you laugh
That will make you cry
That's how in goes may why ask why
I'm just sayin dog
To take me away from my frustration
I'm just sayin' dog
To teach me to use my 'magination
I'm just sayin' dog
Something that will make you laugh
That will make you cry
That's how it goes man why ask why
Sometimes I wanna get away
From all the confusion causin' pollution
I know you wish you could run away
From this substitution
Cuz there's no solution to survive
(I know you wanna run away)
(I know you wanna run away)
(I know you wanna run away)
(I know you wanna run away)
(I know you wanna run away)
(I know you wanna run away)
(I know you wanna run away)
[Chorus]
Sometimes I wanna get away from all the confusion
Causin' pollution
I know you wish you could run away from this institution
Cause there's no solution, to survive
Another day when I'm waking up
I turn my TV on CNN
Another homie done bit the dust, my best friend's back up in the pen
Somebody hit the twin towers,? and the buildings came tumbling down
All we could do was watch in tears

At a boy without a chance and the Devil on his ass
I be sayin though, livin my life... wishin' and hopin
I be sayin though, chasin the dreams...
I be sayin though same thing that will make you laugh will make you cry
That's how we know man, why that's why
I be sayin though taken away from the frustration
I be sayin though teach me to use my imagination
I be sayin though same thing that will make you laugh will make you cry
That's how we know man, why that's why
I got britta filled water cause the tap isn't safe.
The baby's on the window eating a lunch of lead paint.
The fish in the river are not safe to eat.
Foot and mouth disease in the brittish beef.
Baby bush says no worries about CO2.
U.S. emissions are no problem in the atmosphere.
Don't worry about the hole when you look up towards the stars,
Think of the missile defense station saving our lives!
Pollution, we're gonna die of pollution.
Oil tankers crashing on the ocean coast.
Energy Costs! Drill the national parks.
The smog from the cars and the factory pipes,
Yet your concern is at the bar with my second hand smoke.
Pollution, we're gonna die of pollution.
"Trees, not people, causes pollution."
The energy pigs have the final solution.
Forget about Saddam and the Middle East,
Blame the energy costs on environmentalists!
Kyoto becomes an inconvenience
When the only concern for consumers is
Energy costs, energy crisis!
U.S. produces one-forth of the green house emissions,
But we're only four percent of the population.
If we won't cut back on our luxuries,
We'll continue to let the world suffer!
Pollution.
Why do you treat me oh so badly, oh so cruel
i'm just a good boy, needs a good girl, someone cool.
Now i can't live without you
now i can't live without you
now i can't live without you
i wanna live
I need a solution
too much pollution is in my head
i think about you night and day
i gotta get away, you're always in my head.
Why don't you call me, you're too busy, i'm too plain
why can't you see the things you do they cause me pain
Now i can't live without you
now i can't live without you
now i can't live without you
i wanna live
I need a solution
too much pollution is in my head
i think about you night and day
i gotta get away, you're always in my head.
I tried to end it, but i know i can't be happy with you not around.
you look back
and the ocean
are colored black
animals are going sick
the reason is the black slick
no green
is able
to remain
by the toxic acid rain
that's called polution
Planet earth is abused
You know we're to blame
Symposium shows it's not too late
Constant threat, Nuclear war
Corrective measures await us all
Staring death, In the face
The end of the human race
No it's not too late
No it's not the right time
To cross the gate invisible line
Established by mankind
Our planet is abused
Can't live this was any more,
I don't know
Are we near the end
It is real ten years it might be too late
No it's not the right time
To cross the gate invisible
Established by mankind
Our planet is abused
Come on fool
Aw...aw...aw drop that shit
Straight comin' at ya, punk
The greatest side is critical when digging on my concept
Rhythms keep on building like smoke
Got'cha running from the law
Maybe it's that low end smothered with the freestyle
Maybe it's the thought of being on the bottom of the pile
Style's bound to the sky lines
Keep 'em on the sidelines
Choking on my fly rhymes
You need the Heimlich maneuver
This ain't no joke
You're gonna choke
When I'm swinging it to ya
When do you decide (you decide)
Then you can know in your mind (you decide)
When do you decide
I'll probably never understand
Pollution, you preach the noise about the words that you don't wanna hear
Pollution, I keep the grip tight on the mic when I spill
Pollution, you preach the noise about the words that you don't wanna hear
Pollution, I keep that grip real tight
Breaker, breaker one nine, spitting out that skill
Suicidal punk let me know you're real
I'm walking on a thin line with the sticky bass line
Now you're stuck with the flow running through your mind
So if you're crossing over, let me know you're real
?????? now you get the feel
I rumble like the thunder
Now you're going under
I bet ya wonder what the fuck is even going down
I listen to 'em stereotype and then complain
I can't refrain from bringing on the pain
When do you decide (you decide)
Then you can know in your mind (you decide)
When do you decide
I'll probably never understand
Pollution, you preach the noise about the words that you don't wanna hear
Pollution, I keep the grip tight on the mic when I spill
Pollution, you preach the noise about the words that you don't wanna hear
Pollution, I keep that grip real tight
So when they tell me to turn down that volume
I'm gonna bring that beat back
And when they tell Sam to turn down that bass
I'm gonna bring that beat back
And when they tell me to turn down the vocal
I'm gonna bring that beat back
And when they tell us to shut the fuck up
I'm gonna bring that beat back
Yeah, gonna bring that beat back
Aw, gonna bring that beat back
Fuck, gonna bring that beat back
Yo, yo, yo J bring that beat back
When do you decide (you decide)
Then you can know in your mind (you decide)
When do you decide
I'll probably never understand
Pollution, you preach the noise about the words that you don't wanna hear
Pollution, I keep the grip tight on the mic when I spill
Pollution, you preach the noise about the words that you don't wanna hear
Pollution, I keep that grip real tight
I'm gonna bring that beat back
I'm gonna bring that beat back
I'm gonna bring that beat back, beat back
Bring that beat back, beat back -
Back
(Fred shut up, alright)
(This is me telling you to shut up..shut up)
(Fred, shut the fuck up)
These are the words I would say to you
Snap out, wake up you fool
Busy protecting your long lost clue
Which you don't have to choose
These are the things I would say to you
Wake up snap out you fool
You're busy protecting your long lost clue
which you don't have to choose
You don't have to...
You're still listening to the hardcore tapes you used to play
The backside of your mind still busy with loving it
I don't believe you when you say good songs will die eventually
You're still, you're still, you're still, you're still listening
You're still listening
You just seem to be listening
Yeah well listen a little harder now
And try a little more
Still busy protecting your long lost clue
And there is a light in it for you
You haven't got a clue what you do
Don't you do the things that you like to do
Busy protecting the things that you own
But there is a light going wrong
Just look around you and get it through your things cause
You don't have to choose, you don't have to choose, you don't have to
But you're still listening to the hardcore tapes you used to play
The backside of your mind still busy with loving it
I don't believe you when you say good songs will die eventually
You're still you're still you're still you're still listening
Your listening
You seem to be listening
What the fuck do you think you hear
What do you fear, what do you fear, what do you fear
why do you treat me oh so badly oh so cruel
I'm just a good boy needs a good girl someone cool
now I can't live with out you
I want to live
I need a solution
too much pollution
is in my head
think about you night and day
I've got to get away
you're always in my head
why don't you call me, you're too busy, I'm too plain
why can't you see the things you do they cause me pain
now I can't live with out you
I want to live without you
I need a solution
too much pollution

I think about you night and day
I've got to get away
you're always in my head
I tried to end it but I know I can't be happy with you not around
you're not around
I tried to end it but I couldn¡¯t find an easy way to let you down
to let you down...
Time was when an american about to go abroad would be warned by his friends or the guidebooks not to drink the water. but times have changed and now a foreigner coming to this country might be o
D the following advice.
If you visit american city,
You will find it very pretty.
Just two things of which you must beware:
Don't drink the water and don't breathe the air.
Pollution, pollution,
They got smog and sewage and mud.
Turn on your tap and get hot and cold running crud.
See the halibuts and the sturgeons
Being wiped out by detergents.
Fish gotta swim and birds gotta fly,
But they don't last long if they try.
Pollution, pollution,
You can use the latest toothpaste,
And then rinse your mouth with industrial waste.
Just go out for a breath of air,
And you'll be ready for medicare.
The city streets are really quite a thrill.
If the hoods don't get you, the monoxide will.
Pollution, pollution,
Wear a gas mask and a veil.
Then you can breathe, long as you don't inhale.
Lots of things there that you can drink,
But stay away from the kitchen sink.
The breakfast garbage that you throw in to the bay,
They drink at lunch in san jose.
So go to the city, see the crazy people there.
Like lambs to the slaughter,
They're drinking the water
you look back
and the ocean
are colored black
animals are going sick
the reason is the black slick
no green
is able
to remain
by the toxic acid rain
The Earth is decaying from rot and pollution. A distorted brain makes us all the pain. Discharge and waste gets thrown in our face. Nuclear energy to kill all humanity. My lungs have now turned green and there’s no-one to be seen. For miles around there is a sound of all the people who have drowned. Factories and industries churning out the smoke. Oxygen in the air is turning into mucus. Plutonium, uranium - burning to dilute. We don’t want your equation to make more radiation. For all your sciences and all your arts, all the world is going to be torn apart by all the chemicals and all your gases, to separate and kill - kill all the masses.
The sun's burning The sky's grey Concret's replaced grass Buildings've replaced tres Can't we find a better way That to wait it's too late We won't be here for long extinction is close Soon the dirt will cover the planet The planet looks like a grabage can Cant we find a better way Than to wait it's too late What will happen when there is nothing between us and the sun The sun's no longer shining The sky's not blue anymore Death fishes in the seas Brids have no strenght left to fly x4 As I look towards the sky There must be something we can find A different way to die Something to save our kind
