"An onboard tantrum dubbed "nut rage" culminated Thursday in a one-year prison sentence for Korean Air heiress Cho Hyun-ah, a humiliating rebuke that only partially quelled public outrage at the excesses of South Korea's business elite. Cho, the daughter of Korean Air's chairman, achieved worldwide notoriety after she ordered the chief flight attendant off a Dec. 5 flight, forcing it to return to the gate at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. Head of cabin service at the time of the incident, Cho was angered she had been offered macadamia nuts in a bag instead of on a dish. A heated and physical confrontation with members of the crew in first class ensued." http://www.nasa.gov/press/2015/march/nasa-research-suggests-mars-once-had-more-water-than-earth-s-arctic-ocean/ For decades, planetary scientists have suspected that ancient Mars was a much warmer, wetter environment than it is today, but estimates of just how much water Mars has lost since its formation vary widely. Now, new isotopic measurements by researchers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center reveal that an ocean once covered approximately twenty percent of the Martian surface. This new picture of early Mars is considerably wetter than many previous estimates, raising the odds for the ancient habitability of the Red Planet. The bitter conflict in Ukraine has cost thousands of lives, but the Russian government has continuously denied sending its soldiers to the frontlines, despite accusations to the contrary from NATO and Western officials. Since August 2014, a small but steady stream of coffins began arriving in villages across Russia, containing the maimed bodies of soldiers killed in “unknown circumstances.” Some would be buried hastily at night or in secret funerals, their graves zealously guarded from prying outsiders. Journalists investigating the deaths have reported being threatened with intimidation and attacks. In cases that the Kremlin could not so easily ignore, the dead or injured have been hailed as “volunteers” who entered Ukraine on leave from the army — heroes who fought unofficially for the freedom of their Russian-speaking brethren. VICE News travels to Russia to investigate the mysterious deaths of dozens — possibly hundreds — of active-duty Russian servicemen who are believed to have been killed in Ukraine. Accounts gathered from soldiers’ families, human rights workers, and government officials cast doubt on the Kremlin narrative, revealing the unacknowledged sacrifices borne by Russia’s ghost army. New reports from The Intercept – the Glenn Greenwald-helmed website featuring stories based on leaks provided by ex-contractor Edward Snowden – show the CIA sponsored forums, efforts, and a ‘Jamboree’ in order to find ways to crack the security and encryption of Apple products, with most of the effort focused on mobile devices. http://www.nasa.gov/press/2015/march/nasa-research-suggests-mars-once-had-more-water-than-earth-s-arctic-ocean/

For decades, planetary scientists have suspected that ancient Mars was a much warmer, wetter environment than it is today, but estimates of just how much water Mars has lost since its formation vary widely. Now, new isotopic measurements by researchers at NASA\'s Goddard Space Flight Center reveal that an ocean once covered approximately twenty percent of the Martian surface.

Over 130 women leaders gathered in New York to demonstrate their commitment to ambitious and gender sensitive climate action.
As world leaders gather in New York to focus on climate change at the Secretary General’s Climate Summit, the particular needs and responses of women, in terms of climate policy, were highlighted at an event hosted by UN Women’s Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and Mary Robinson, founder of the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice, titled Leaders’ Forum on Women Leading the Way: Raising Ambition for Climate Action.

Travelling from 54 nations, and urging concrete action, women leaders representing grassroots and indigenous communities, young women and academicians sat down with former Heads of State and Government, policy makers, heads of civil society, international and private sector organisations to discuss robust climate action that is good for people and good for the planet.

The key messages from 12 learning circles were captured in the videos recorded by the 12 chairs of the learning circles (see playlist).
