The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), known colloquially as the Hare Krishna movement, is a Gaudiya Vaishnava religious organization. It was founded in 1966 in New York City by "His Divine Grace" Abhay Caranaravinda Bhaktivedanta Svami "Prabhupada". Its core beliefs are based on traditional Hindu scriptures such as the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam and the Bhagavad-gītā, both of which, according to the traditional Hindu view, date back more than 5,000 years. The distinctive appearance of the movement and its culture come from the Gaudiya Vaisnava tradition, which has had adherents in India since the late 15th century and Western converts since the early 1930s.
ISKCON was formed to spread the practice of bhakti yoga, in which aspirant devotees (bhaktas) dedicate their thoughts and actions towards pleasing the Supreme Lord, Krishna. ISKCON today is a worldwide confederation of more than 400 centers, including 60 farm communities, some aiming for self-sufficiency, 50 schools and 90 restaurants. In recent decades the movement's most rapid expansions in terms of numbers of membership have been within Eastern Europe (especially since the collapse of the Soviet Union) and India.

Sachinandana Swami (born 1954, Hamburg) is a Gaudiya Vaishnava guru, sannyasi, and one of the religious leaders of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (commonly known as the Hare Krishnas or ISKCON). Of German origin, he joined ISKCON in 1970 and was initiated by the movement's founder, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, in 1971. Sacinandana Swami is well known throughout ISKCON for his kirtana and public speaking. Sacinandana Swami first came in contact with Gaudiya Vaishnavism after seeing Hare Krishna devotees on German TV in the late 1960s. "One day, I remember it was in television. I was a fan of the Rolling Stones. One of the members, the guitarist, had died from an overdose of drugs. I cried tears - my model had died. After this, an exciting new group, the Radha Krishna Temple, came on and sang the Hare Krishna mantra. I immediately felt deep solace."
I come bangin' through the bedroom door
I been runnin' with a two-bit whore
Behavior is bad but I'm out of sight
Suckin' on a bottle and I'm ready to fight
I'm just ass-kickin' rock 'n roll
No one's gonna keep me out of the bar tonight
Gonna keep on drinkin' 'til I feel alright
There's no place I'd rather be
Smokin' babes, a bottle and the bros and me
Just ass-kickin' rock 'n roll
If you dig the government, I wish you well
I say them suckers, they can go to hell
You say man, Kor., what did they do?
Tell you one thing it wasn't for you
'Cause you're ass-kickin' rock 'n roll
It's a drag all alone locked in silence
Stand your ground fight the world in hard defiance
Take a look in your heart, fist to the sky
A spirit that lives to fight, remember will never die
I like runnin' with a two-bit whore
I like tootin' other people's blow
I like a bar on an empty night
I like whiskey and gettin' tight
I like a bike on the boulevard
I like life and I live it hard
I like rejection and not fittin' in
I think it's time that we begin
When you eyes are growing cold
And your smile is far away
All your dreams are feeling low
No more words left in to say
But I wish that youd stay
Maybe I will ask you anyway
Its hard to remember
A life without a lie
A life made up of honesty
Its hard to recall new a day without pain
A day just filled with pleasure
When all the beauty disappears
And all that has left are my fears
Now gather the last of my strength
When you eyes are growing cold
And your smile is far away
All your dreams are feeling low
No more words left in to say
But I wish for you to stay
Maybe I will ask you anyway
I cant believe you
I cant trust your words
Theres no way you can speak the truth
Just turn your back now
Just turn and walk away
Dont even look into my eyes
When all the beauty disappears
And all that has left are my fears
When you eyes are growing cold
And your smile is far away
All your dreams are feeling low
No more words left in to say
But I wish that you'd stay
Maybe I will ask you anyway
It's hard to remember
A life without a lie
A life made up of honesty
It's hard to recall new a day without pain
A day just filled with pleasure
When all the beauty disappears
And all that has left are my fears
Now gather the last of my strength
