Wakayama Prefecture (和歌山県, Wakayama-ken?) is a prefecture of Japan located on the Kii Peninsula in the Kansai region on Honshū island. The capital is the city of Wakayama.
Present-day Wakayama is mostly the western part of the province of Kii.
On July 17 to 18, a torrential heavy rain occurred, followed by collapse of levees, river flooding and landslides in widely area, which destroyed many bridges and houses. According to Japanese Government official confirmed report, 1,015 people died, with 5,709 injured and 7,115 houses lost.[citation needed]

Wakayama supplies most of Japan with its high production of mikans (Mandarin Oranges) in October of every year.
Mount Kōya (高野山, Kōya-san?) in the Ito District is the headquarters of the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism. It is home to one of the first Japanese style Buddhist temples in Japan and remains a site of pilgrimage and an increasingly popular tourist destination as people flock to see its ancient temples set amidst the towering cedar trees at the top of the mountain. The Sacred sites and pilgrimage routes in the Kii Mountain Range extend for miles throughout the prefecture and together have been recognized as Japan's 11th UNESCO World Heritage site.

新宮駅前にある熊野交通のバスに乗って、1800年の歴史を持つ
日本最古の湯、湯の峰温泉(和歌山県)に行ってきました。
世界遺産のつぼ湯、温泉卵がつくれる湯筒、そして
公衆浴場などが川沿いに並んだ、こぢんまりとした温泉街です。
しかし、積み重ねてきた歴史のためか独特の世界観・雰囲気が漂います。(これが温泉情緒ってやつか・・・)
ここから約1時間歩けば熊野本宮大社にもいけるらしいです。
熊野古道ウォーキングに来た際には、是非立ち寄ってみてください。
ゆったりした時の流れに本当に癒されますよ。

I visited the Yunomine Onsen which is the oldest hot spring in Japan.
The Yunomine Onsen is a tourist resort representing Wakayama Prefecture near the Kumano Kodo which is world heritage.
Such a thing is famous.
For example, the Tsuboyu which is world heritage changes the color of hot water 7 times on a day.
And the hot water of about 90 degrees springs in Hot Well.
If an egg is put in it, a delicious boiled egg(Onsen Tamago) with soft white and hard yellow can be made.
To others, a public bathhouse is also popular.
Furthermore, it is said that the Yunomine hot spring is blessed with a child.

新宮駅前にある熊野交通のバスに乗って、1800年の歴史を持つ 日本最古の湯、湯の峰温泉(和歌山県)に行ってきました。 世界遺産のつぼ湯、温泉卵がつくれる湯筒、そして 公衆浴場などが川沿いに並んだ、こぢんまりとした温泉街です。 しかし、積み重ねてきた歴史のためか独特の世界観・雰囲気が漂います。(これが温泉情緒ってやつか・・・) ここから約1時間歩けば熊野本宮大社にもいけるらしいです。 熊野古道ウォーキングに来た際には、是非立ち寄ってみてください。 ゆったりした時の流れに本当に癒されますよ。 --------------------------------------------------- I visited the Yunomine Onsen which is the oldest hot spring in Japan. The Yunomine Onsen is a tourist resort representing Wakayama Prefecture near the Kumano Kodo which is world heritage. Such a thing is famous. For example, the Tsuboyu which is world heritage changes the color of hot water 7 times on a day. And the hot water of about 90 degrees springs in Hot Well. If an egg is put in it, a delicious boiled egg(Onsen Tamago) with soft white and hard yellow can be made. To others, a public bathhouse is also popular. There has been a "turning point" in the Ebola crisis, with cases falling in the three affected countries, World Health Organization officials say. Just eight cases were detected in Liberia in the last week down from a peak of 500-a-week in September. Guinea and Sierra Leone have also seen falls.
