Swiss Chocolate Factory Visit | Zurich | Switzerland | 4K
Frey Chocolate Factory. This was one of my favourite experiences in Switzerland! You can also mix and pour your own chocolate in the visitor centre, with your choice of flavour mixtures. The tour of the factory is not expensive. I never ate so much chocolate in one day. If you love chocolate and visiting Switzerland, you should visit a chocolate factory. In my opinion north American made chocolates have lesser percentage of cacao and more sugar. Swiss chocolates are smoother and richer in flavour.

A deep dive into Swiss chocolate
Deep in the heart of Switzerland is the small town of Schwyz - home to Bettys chocolate suppliers, Felchlin. At Bettys, we only use the finest cocoa bean – the Criollo from the region of Maracaibo in Venezuela, which accounts for just 3% of the world’s cocoa crop. Felchlin source ethically, respecting people and nature, which is why we've built a long-term relationship with them.

Buying Swiss Chocolate (a Local's Guide) | Switzerland Food
Swiss chocolate is a must-try when you visit. Buying chocolate in Switzerland is of course as well mandatory to reap all the chocolate benefits. A quick day, and an overnight layover, in Zurich, Switzerland - known as one of the most expensive cities in the world! So, what are some things to do in Zurich, Switzerland (during a layover)?
Thankfully our good friend Patrick took care of my layover and becoming my Zurich Travel Guide!
I started off right and got myself the Zurich Card, which gives you a free access and discounts to many Zurich Attractions, as well as to public transportation!
For more on Zurich Card: https://www.zuerich.com/en/visit/your-city-travel-pass
I met up with our good friends Patrick and Julia, who lives in Herrliberg - a small, affluent community by the Lake Zurich shore. It is simply a beautiful place - and after catching up with them, Patrick and I hopped onto the Lake Zurich ferry to get back to the city center to start a small walking tour in Zurich.
There are several things to see in Zurich, including Paradeplatz and Bahnhofstrasse. In the train station, I managed to check out the two famous Swiss chocolate shops - Sprüngli and Chocolatier Läderach.
I got three truffles to taste from Läderach Bahnhofstrasse. All are very tasty and rich.
For more on Läderach, here's their website: https://www.laderach.com/en/
For dinner, I visited Zurich's most famous vegetarian restaurant, the Hiltl Zurich. The food selection was quite impressive and eclectic - and all of the dishes are vegetarian. Don't forget to weight your plate before sitting down for correct charging.

Swiss chocolate is a must-try when you visit. Buying chocolate in Switzerland is of course as well mandatory to reap all the chocolate benefits. This activity is done by about every tourist that visits this country. When going shopping for Lindt Chocolate or Toblerone, in a grocery- or souvenir store, you will be overwhelmed by the vast amount of choice you have. Of course, you can purchase the whole lot, but you will find that some of the chocolates on display are cheaper than other. Don't worry, they are all part of our Swiss culture.
We have made it our mission to go out and find the cheapest chocolate in Switzerland. And behold, we have found it. To be honest, it was not very difficult. Some economic thinking led us directly to the two biggest retailers, Coop and Migros, which have their own budget food lines. And guess what. There you will be able to purchase the cheapest chocolate in all of Switzerland at CHF 0.50 or USD 0.50 for an entire chocolate bar and it is delicious!
However, is this the chocolate you should bring home to your loved ones? We say no, as you can buy regular chocolate bars anywhere in the world. Why don’t you try chocolate bars that have special ingredients or chocolate sticks or pralines or… You see, the choices are endless and totally yours.
Our pro-tip is to buy the chocolate at stores that have high turnover of goods, as only the freshest chocolates is to die for.
