Alan may refer to:
Alan Alan (born Alan Rabinowitz in November 1926) is a retired British escapologist and magician. He originated tricks that have subsequently become familiar features of the repertoire of other performers and he has been honoured by The Magic Circle.
Alan achieved fame through a series of stunts staged for the media. He made headline news in 1949 when a "buried alive" stunt, performed for Pathe News, nearly went wrong. He is credited with devising the burning-rope straitjacket escape, in which he is suspended upside-down from a crane with a length of thick rope doused with petrol, once ignited there is a short time to escape before the rope burns through. He appeared in a number of television magic shows, including The Magic of David Copperfield. He also "taught" the inmates of Wormwood Scrubs prison how to escape from handcuffs in his performance with a number of other magicians. In more recent years he was seen on Simon Drake's TV show Secret Cabaret.
He was proprietor of Alan Alan's Magic Spot, a magic shop based on Southampton Row, London until its lease expired in the mid 1990s.
Wing Lun Alan TamMH is an award-winning Hong Kong Cantopop and English pop singer and actor. During the early 1980s he played a major role in developing the cantopop scene as he was known for singing romantic ballads with modern arrangements. As of 2008, he is still active in the music industry, releasing new albums on a regular basis. Since the late 1980s, he has served as a mentor for the cantopop music industry, earning the nickname the "Principal" or "Principal Tam". Today he is regularly seen across the media in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, and various parts of East Asia participating in all types of entertainment related events and charity activities.
Tam was born in 1950 to renowned football player Tam Kong-pak (譚江柏), who represented the Republic of China national team during the 1936 summer olympics.
Tam developed a passion for music in his secondary school years in Hong Kong. He formed a band called "The Wynners" with his friends. They subsequently entered an amateur singing contest and took the first prize to begin a career in the entertainment industry, appearing in a number of TVB variety shows. The group disbanded, and he later reformed into the band The Wynners with Kenny Bee in 1973. The Wynners performed mostly in English language, Tam was one of the two lead singers in the band until it split in 1978.
Alan Eugene Jackson (born October 17, 1958) is an American country music singer, known for blending traditional honky tonk and mainstream country sounds and penning many of his own hits. He has recorded 13 studio albums, 3 Greatest Hits albums, 2 Holiday albums, 1 Gospel album and several compilations, all on the Arista Nashville label. More than 50 of his singles have appeared on Billboard's list of the "Top 30 Country Songs". Of Jackson's entries, 35 were number-one hits, with 50 in the Top 10. He is the recipient of 2 Grammys, 16 CMA Awards, 17 ACM Awards and nominee of multiple other awards. Jackson is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
Jackson was born to Joseph Eugene Jackson and Ruth Musick in Newnan, Georgia, and has four older siblings. Jackson is of English descent. As a youth, Jackson listened primarily to gospel music. Otherwise he was not a major music fan. However, a friend of his introduced him to the music of Gene Watson, John Anderson and Hank Williams Jr. Jackson attended the local Elm Street Elementary and Newnan High School, starting a band after high school. After a time, he and his wife of six years, Denise Jackson, moved from Newnan to Nashville where Jackson hoped to pursue music full-time.
Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British philosopher, writer, and speaker, best known as an interpreter and populariser of Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. Born in Chislehurst, he moved to the United States in 1938 and began Zen training in New York. Pursuing a career, he attended Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, where he received a master's degree in theology. Watts became an Episcopal priest but left the ministry in 1950 and moved to California, where he joined the faculty of the American Academy of Asian Studies.
Living on the West Coast, Watts gained a large following in the San Francisco Bay Area while working as a volunteer programmer at KPFA, a Pacifica Radio station in Berkeley. Watts wrote more than 25 books and articles on subjects important to Eastern and Western religion, introducing the then-burgeoning youth culture to The Way of Zen (1957), one of the first bestselling books on Buddhism. In Psychotherapy East and West (1961), Watts proposed that Buddhism could be thought of as a form of psychotherapy and not just a religion. Like Aldous Huxley before him, he explored human consciousness in the essay, "The New Alchemy" (1958), and in the book, The Joyous Cosmology (1962).
Immortality is only skin deep....
Plot
Alan and Carol, middle class, mid-40s, bored and terminally married, attend an upmarket swinger's party for the first time. At the party, held in a stunning penthouse apartment in central London, they meet Sonya, a statuesque Russian, and her intense, laconic husband Dan. Though twenty years their junior, Sonya and Dan are veterans of 'the lifestyle' and quickly take charge. As the couple's get to know one another, something happens to change previously eager Alan's view of the situation. Soon he finds himself questioning love, sex, marriage, life and everything.
That's Sweet!
Alan: Shit! Forgot my pants!
Alan: So, how's it been going lately?::Dave: Oh, it's been going fine... except you left me with a dead body yesterday!::Alan: Other than that though?::Dave: Oh it's fine.
Dave: I need the warmth of a man next to me. I can't do it alone.
Erik: How's Sheryl? Last time I saw Sheryl, she was starting to grow a great set of tits... I mean for a 12 year old, they were fucking out there. How old is she now, like, 16, 17.::Dave: She's 12.::Erik: Oh, when did they move?::Dave: They didn't move.::Erik: Oh... then how are her tits?::Dave: Oh, they said hello.
The Clones: Damn you all!
Dave: You know... the best hordeorves is friendship.
Alan: Oh no. I can't go to a party like this. I better bleed it out.
Plot
Warner isn't sure how he got where he is, but he's not particularly happy to be there: mid-thirties, married, two kids, dead-end career in fund raising, cramped town house, old car, clothes slightly frayed around the edges. His latest job has landed him and his family in a boom-town where everyone else seems to have more than Warner - and more is what Warner wants. But it's not what he gets. Instead, the probation period of his job has just been extended; his wife, Claire, thinks her own job is in jeopardy as well; their entire savings are going towards a house that won't be big enough for them; and their four-year-old daughter, the preschool teacher tells them, is "a couple of beats behind" the other children. In fact, there isn't one part of Warner's life that's going the way he'd planned. But are his disappointments and frustrations powerful enough to trigger murderous anger? When Claire is viciously attacked and Warner emerges as the prime suspect, the answer might be yes. Now, as disbelief and distrust poison relations with family, friends, and colleagues, Warner struggles to understand how he has become a man whom others - and, more appallingly, he himself - could believe capable of committing such a crime.

This is not a test.
In the fall of 1997, every nuclear device in the world will be accounted for... Except one.
How do you get the world's attention?
Julia Kelly: You will not take action without authorization.::Devoe: What do you think I am, some gung-ho, stupid son of a bitch?::Julia Kelly: No, I don't think you're stupid.
Ken: Colonel, the guy you bagged is Dr. Amir Teraki, Pakistani. PhD in Astrophysics, educated at Harvard.::Colonel Tom Devoe: That's right, people. We educated half the world's terrorists.
Julia: Where the hell is my military liason?::Devoe: Colonel Thomas Devoe reporting as ordered, ma'am. I'm sorry about in there, sometimes my enthusiasm gets the better of me.::Julia: No problem. Would you like some coffee?::Devoe: I'd love some.::Julia: It's over there.
Julia Kelly: So do you think he set us up?::Thomas Devoe: Who?::Julia Kelly: Your friend.::Thomas Devoe: No.::Julia Kelly: How can you be so sure?::Thomas Devoe: Because he's my friend.
Thomas Devoe: Doctor, you can run your charts and your theories all you want. In the field, this is how it works: the good guys, that's us, we chase the bad guys. And they don't wear black hats. They are, however, all alike: they demand power, and respect, and they're willing to pay top dollar to get it. And that is our highly motivated buyer.::Julia Kelly: What about other motivations?::Thomas Devoe: Not important to me.::Julia Kelly: Whether it's important to you or not, there are people out there who don't care about money, who don't give a damn about respect. People who believe the killing of innocent men and women is justified. For them it is about rage, frustration, hatred... they feel pain and they're determined to share it with the world.::Thomas Devoe: Okay, that does me no good. Now let's deal with the facts at hand. 23 hours ago, General Alexander Kodoroff stole ten nuclear warheads.::Julia Kelly: He's just a delivery boy. I'm not afraid of the man who wants ten nuclear weapons, Colonel. I'm terrified of the man who only wants one.
Julia Kelly: [Devoe wants to take a team into Russia while they know where the bombs are] The Russians say they are handling it.::Thomas Devoe: The Russians couldn't find snow in the middle of fucking winter. Look, it's this simple. When that satellite is out of range, those nukes are gone. [pause] It's only jet fuel.
Dusan Gavrich: [a tape meant to be played after his bomb explodes] You will look at what I have done and say, Of course - why not - they are all animals. They have slaughtered each other for centuries. But the truth is, I'm not a monster. I'm a human man - I'm just like you, whether you like it or not. For years, we have tried to live together, until a war was waged on us, on all of us: a war waged by our own leaders. And who supplied the Serb cluster bombs, the Croatian tanks, the Muslim artillery shells that killed our sons and daughters? It was the governments of the West who drew the boundaries of our countries - sometimes in ink, sometimes in blood - the blood of our people. And now you dispatch your peacekeepers to write our destiny again. We can never accept this peace that leaves us with nothing but pain, pain the peacemakers must be made to feel. Their wives, their children, their houses and churches. So now you know, now you must understand. Leave us to find our own destiny. May God have mercy on us all.
Thomas Devoe: I'd like to know something. You moved from Lawrence Livermore to the White House. So, first you build the bombs to blow up the entire world, and now you want to save it. Make up your mind: which is it going to be?::Julia Kelly: Well, I believe this week we're saving it.
Hamilton: Russia, what a fucking mess! God, I miss the cold war.
Julia Kelly: Would you call Langley? We're still waiting on a psych profile on Kodorov.::Thomas Devoe: He's an asshole. Save you the trip.::Julia Kelly: Thanks, I'll settle for the official version.::Thomas Devoe: OK, officially - he's an asshole!
Hello Mother Hello Father
I am back at Camp Granada
and I'm writing you this letter
just to say my compound fracture's getting better.
No one here knows where my trunk is
and my bunk is where the skunk is
and this years the food's improving
cause the little black things in it are not moving.
The camp nurse is quite a swimmer
she says swimming makes you slimmer.
Her name's Mrs. Pellagrini,
Have you ever seen a whale in a bikini!
All our bathrooms have such thin doors
gee I wish they'd move them indoors.
We're all tired of Mother Goose here
so next Friday night they're having Lenny Bruce here!
Let me stay, oh Mother Father,
Let me stay! I love Granada
Every night the camp fire's really keen
Oh, Ma, please send some Unguentine.
Let me stay up here in mother nature's land
and tip-toe through the tulips grand
To leave would be a shame,
besides, I'd miss the poker game.
Please don't worry, Father, Mother
I'll take care of little brother
he plays ball here and he rows here
and I hope they teach him how to blow his nose here.
He wakes up at half past 6 and
goes directly to the quick sand.
He was lonely, now he's better.
Camp Granada (COMEDY)
Hello Mudda, hello Fadda,
Here I am at Camp Granada.
Camp is very entertaining,
And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.
I went hiking with Joe Spivy;
He developed poison ivy.
You remember Leonard Skinner;
He got ptomain poisoning last night after dinner.
All the counselors hate the waiters,
And the lake has alligators,
And the head coach wants no sissies,
So he reads to us from something called "Ulysses".
Now I don't want this should it scare ya,
But my bunk mate has malaria.
You remember Jeffrey Hardy,
They're about to organize a searching party.
Take me home, oh Mudda, Fadda,
Take me home, I hate Granada!
Don't leave me out in the forest where
I might get eaten by a bear.
Take me home, I promise I will not make noise,
Or mess the house with other boys.
Oh, please don't make me stay,
I've been here one whole day.
Dearest Fadda, darling Mudda,
How's my precious little brother?
Let me come home if you miss me,
I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me.
Wait a minute, it stopped hailing,
Guys are swimming, gals are sailing.
Playing baseball, gee that's betta,

*VERSO*
Sin preguntar llegaste a mi y no me pude defender
pero gane cuando perdi
eres perfecta para mi
*PUENTE 1*
tu amor entro bajo mi piel
tan violento
y de repente estoy por ti prendiendo fuego
*CORO*
Si me lo pides soy capaz
de desafiar la eternidad
pues ya lo ves
estoy por ti
prendiendo fuego
o de luchar contra un volcan
mover al sol de su lugar
no hay discusion estoy por ti
prendiendo fuego
*VERSO*
Lo sabes bien
solo por ti
mi mundo ya no esta alrevez
y ya borre lo que vivi
no tengo miedo de caer
*PUENTE 1*
*CORO*
*PUENTE 2*
y ahora estoy
echa volar hacia ti.
Quisiera regresar, volverte a respirar
quedar unido a ti y por una eternidad
y asi renacer y a ti volver.
(CORO)
