Takoyaki (たこ焼き or 蛸焼) (literally fried or baked octopus) is a popular Japanese dumpling made of batter, diced or whole baby octopus, tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger, and green onion, topped with okonomiyaki sauce, ponzu, mayonnaise, green laver (aonori), and katsuobushi (fish shavings), first popularized in Taisho-era Osaka, where a street vendor named Endo Tomekichi is credited with its invention in 1935 [2]. Takoyaki can be found in shops called issen-yoshoku (壹銭洋食), which roughly translates to "one-penny Western food". There is a similarly named dish called ikayaki but it is a broiled whole squid and bears no resemblance. Yaki is derived from "yaku" (焼く) which simply means "to bake or grill" in Japanese, and can be found in the names of other Japanese cuisine items such as teriyaki or sukiyaki.

Ingredients for batter (50 pcs takoyaki 約50個分)
: 1tsp salt （小１ しお）
: 1tsp baking powder （小1 ベーキングパウダー）
: 1tsp dashi powder （小1 だしの素 ）
: 1 egg （卵1個）
: 200g flour （200g 小麦粉）
: 800ml chilled water （800cc 冷水）
: 1tbsp grated mountain yam （大１ おろした山芋）
Another ingredients
: Boiled octopus （たこ）
: Agedama （てんかす）
: konegi （小ネギ）
: Shreded pickled ginger （紅生姜）
You can use kimuchi, sausage...etc instead of octopus. I'm not sure about cheese but I think it'll work. It's time for you to think what's interesting sustitute to use. Good luck!

Takoyaki Recipe (adapted from Cooking With Dog)
Batter
1 egg
1/2 t. instant dashi powder (Hon Dashi)
1 t. soy sauce
pinch of salt
340 ml. ice water
100 g. cake flour
cooked octopus or shrimp, cut into 1/2" pieces
1/2 t. beni shoga (pickled ginger)
2 T. green onions, finely sliced
sakura ebi (tiny dried shrimp) *Omitted because I couldn't find it.
Toppings
okonomiyaki sauce
mayonaise
ao nori (green seaweed powder) *Omitted because I couldn't find it.
kasuobushi (bonito flakes)
Using a whisk, combine batter ingredients in a large bowl until there are no lumps. Preheat the cake pop maker for 10-15 minutes. Grease the wells of the cake pop maker with vegetable oil. Pour the takoyaki batter leaving a little room for the toppings. Add a piece of cooked octopus/shrimp to each well, along with a sprinkling of beni shoga and green onions. Allow to cook 5 minutes or until the balls begin to set. Use a couple of bamboo skewers to give the balls a quarter turn. Cook a couple of minutes. Rotate the balls again a quarter turn and cook another couple of minutes. Continue cooking and rotating until the balls are golden brown. Serve the takoyaki with okonomiyaki sauce, a drizzle of mayo, and bonito flakes. TIP: occasionally close the cake pop maker to ensure the unit stays well heated. Serves 2.

Toppings okonomiyaki sauce mayonaise ao nori (green seaweed powder) *Omitted because I couldn't find it. kasuobushi (bonito flakes) Using a whisk, combine batter ingredients in a large bowl until there are no lumps. Preheat the cake pop maker for 10-15 minutes. Grease the wells of the cake pop maker with vegetable oil. Pour the takoyaki batter leaving a little room for the toppings. Add a piece of cooked octopus/shrimp to each well, along with a sprinkling of beni shoga and green onions. Allow to cook 5 minutes or until the balls begin to set. Use a couple of bamboo skewers to give the balls a quarter turn. Cook a couple of minutes. Rotate the balls again a quarter turn and cook another couple of minutes. Continue cooking and rotating until the balls are golden brown. Serve the takoyaki with okonomiyaki sauce, a drizzle of mayo, and bonito flakes. TIP: occasionally close the cake pop maker to ensure the unit stays well heated. Serves 2. This is not a sponsored post. 2009/08/10 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takoyaki Takoyaki (たこ焼き or 蛸焼) (literally fried or baked octopus) is a popular Japanese dumpling made of batter, diced or whole baby octopus, tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger, and green onion, topped with okonomiyaki sauce, ponzu, mayonnaise, green laver (aonori), and katsuobushi (fish shavings), first popularized in Taisho-era Osaka, where a street vendor named Endo Tomekichi is credited with its invention in 1935 [2]. Takoyaki can be found in shops called issen-yoshoku (壹銭洋食), which roughly translates to "one-penny Western food". There is a similarly named dish called ikayaki but it is a broiled whole squid and bears no resemblance. Yaki is derived from "yaku" (焼く) which simply means "to bake or grill" in Japanese, and can be found in the... -

: 1tsp dashi powder （小1 だしの素 ）
: 1 egg （卵1個）
: 200g flour （200g 小麦粉）
: 800ml chilled water （800cc 冷水）
: 1tbsp grated mountain yam （大１ おろした山芋）
Another ingredients
: Boiled octopus （たこ）
: Agedama （てんかす）
: konegi （小ネギ）
: Shreded pickled ginger （紅生姜）
You can use kimuchi, sausage...etc instead of octopus. I'm not sure about cheese but I think it'll work. It's time for you to think what's interesting sustitute to use. Good luck!

Takoyaki Recipe (adapted from Cooking With Dog)
Batter
1 egg
1/2 t. instant dashi powder (Hon Dashi)
1 t. soy sauce
pinch of salt
340 ml. ice water
100 g. cake flour
cooked octopus or shrimp, cut into 1/2" pieces
1/2 t. beni shoga (pickled ginger)
2 T. green onions, finely sliced
sakura ebi (tiny dried shrimp) *Omitted because I couldn't find it.
Toppings
okonomiyaki sauce
mayonaise
ao nori (green seaweed powder) *Omitted because I couldn't find it.
kasuobushi (bonito flakes)
Using a whisk, combine batter ingredients in a large bowl until there are no lumps. Preheat the cake pop maker for 10-15 minutes. Grease the wells of the cake pop maker with vegetable oil. Pour the takoyaki batter leaving a little room for the toppings. Add a piece of cooked octopus/shrimp to each well, along with a sprinkling of beni shoga and green onions. Allow to cook 5 minutes or until the balls begin to set. Use a couple of bamboo skewers to give the balls a quarter turn. Cook a couple of minutes. Rotate the balls again a quarter turn and cook another couple of minutes. Continue cooking and rotating until the balls are golden brown. Serve the takoyaki with okonomiyaki sauce, a drizzle of mayo, and bonito flakes. TIP: occasionally close the cake pop maker to ensure the unit stays well heated. Serves 2.

Rotate the balls again a quarter turn and cook another couple of minutes. Continue cooking and rotating until the balls are golden brown. Serve the takoyaki with okonomiyaki sauce, a drizzle of mayo, and bonito flakes. TIP: occasionally close the cake pop maker to ensure the unit stays well heated. Serves 2.
