More about this programme: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00wgq0l Hans Rosling's famous lectures combine enormous quantities of public data with a sport's commentator's style to reveal the story of the world's past, present and future development. Now he explores stats in a way he has never done before - using augmented reality animation. In this spectacular section of 'The Joy of Stats' he tells the story of the world in 200 countries over 200 years using 120,000 numbers - in just four minutes. Plotting life expectancy against income for every country since 1810, Hans shows how the world we live in is radically different from the world most of us imagine.

I have been to Scandinavia ie Sweden and Norway and it is amongst the safest places in the world if you compare to my homeland Australia and the US. While looking at videos about Sweden I took some notice on many trolls or clueless people which ever they are that called Sweden the "Rape Capital of Europe" and it took me a few seconds to find out why Sweden is so high on the list is to primarily Sweden protects women against rape and violence in general which you can not say about other countries read below: In 2013, there were 5,887 rapes reported to the Swedish police - or 63 cases per 100,000 population - according to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Bra), which is a 5 percent decrease from the previous year. The number of convictions have remained relatively unchanged since 2005, with approximately 190 convictions on average each year. There have been several international comparisons made, placing Sweden at the top end of the number of reported rapes. However, police procedures and legal definitions vary widely across countries, which makes it difficult to compare rape statistics. For example, Sweden reformed its sex crime legislation and made the legal definition of rape much wider in 2005, which largely explains a significant increase in the number of reported rapes in the ten-year period of 2004-2013. The Swedish police also record each instance of sexual violence in every case separately, leading to an inflated number of cases compared to other countries. Additionally, the Swedish police have improved the handling of rape cases, in an effort to increase the number of crimes reported. Raised awareness and a shifting attitude of crimes against women in Sweden, which has been ranked as the number one country in gender equality, may also explain the relatively high rates of reported rape. The Reason the rape statistics in Sweden is high, is because Sweden doesn't shame the rape victims, so people ACTUALLY report when they get raped to the police, rather than hide it compared to most other countries, it's something to be proud of. That Sweden would be the "Rape Capital" is nonsense anyone with a avarage IQ knows that developing countries in the third world has the most rapes and crimes comitted towards women. Sweden are the only country actually tending to rape victims and allowing them to come out. Heaps thank you Sweden, standing up for women. It is not a taboo to report RAPE or CRIME against women which it is sadly in most other countries around the world.

Travel video about destination Stockholm in Sweden. Stockholm is a city that floats on water, the 'Venice of the North' was built on 14 islands. Gamla Stan, or 'Old Town', is the name of the city's three central islands that are linked by numerous bridges. Its ambience is that of the Middle Ages and small and mysterious alleys and beautiful buildings that date back to the 7th century characterize the life of the traders who once lived there. The old town's most dominant building is the royal castle of Kungliga Slottet. Larger than London's Buckingham Palace, it contains 608 rooms. The Stadshuset is one of the city's landmarks and was designed in Medieval style eith a tower that is almost 106 metres tall. The most important artists of the time were engaged in the creation of the Blue Hall in which the Noble Prize ceremony now takes place each year. Those who appreciate museums will not be disappointed by Stockholm as it boasts more than 50! The National Museum, located on the Strömmen Canal, contains countless works of art. Due to the passion for art of various Swedish royal families and also generous public donations, the museum has a truly outstanding collection of French paintings that date back to the 18th century. Six kilometres south of Stockholm is a cemetery that has been designated as a World Heritage Site by Unesco, the Skogskyrkogarden, the final resting place for many of Stockholm's past inhabitants and also some of its most famous, including Greta Garbo. This extraordinary complex took 30 years to build and is unique in the world. Since 1998, this centuries-old Hanse city has also been the cultural capital of Europe. This city of the Vikings is a true architectural gem!
http://bookinghunter.com Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and the largest city of Fennoscandia. Stockholm is located on Sweden's south-central east coast, where the freshwater Lake Mälaren - Sweden's third largest lake - flows out into the Baltic Sea. The central parts of the city consist of fourteen islands that are continuous with the Stockholm archipelago. The geographical city centre is situated on the water, in Riddarfjärden bay. Over 30% of the city area is made up of waterways and another 30% is made up of parks and green spaces. The most important places to visit in Stockholm: Vasa Museum (this is Sweden's National Maritime Museum. On display is the famous Vasa ship, the only preserved 17th century ship of its kind), Stockholm Royal Palace (the official residence of the Swedish monarch. It's a former site of a 14th century fortress), Town Hall (a key landmark for the city of Sweden. More than eight million bricks were used to construct this beautiful building), Drottningholm Palace (a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This stunning architectural gem built in the 1600's is the private home of the Royal family) and many more. This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Stockholm travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

There are tens of thousands of different decorative pieces on show, but as is often the case with these kinds of galleries, the biggest draw tends to be the household-name artists, who in this case -- thanks to the likes of Rembrandt, Goya and Rubens -- are here in abundance. It may outwardly look more like a church, but its interior has grand civic apartments, including the Golden Hall with its glass and gold mosaics, while its tower -- topped with Sweden's three-crown emblem -- gives a sweeping panorama of Stockholm. The building's Blue Hall (which is actually red) is the venue for the annual Nobel Prize banquet. Visitors need to join one of the scheduled tours to see the interior, although access to the tower is unrestricted during opening hours. Opening Times: Daily 1000-1200 for guided tours of the interior, with extra tours in July and Aug; daily 0900-1700 (Jun-Aug), 1000-1600 (Sept) for access to the tower. As well as hosting major sporting contests, it also houses restaurants, bars and a shopping complex. Event schedule aside, the attraction of most interest to visitors is SkyView, a glass gondola which carries passengers up the outside of the building's shell. World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Stockholm - Sweden Travel Guide http://bit.ly/H1YEQ6 Stockholm - Sweden Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation Sweden's capital -- a Nordic vision of waterways, parks and spire-filled skylines -- is justifiably renowned as one of the most handsome cities in Europe. Spread over no less than 14 islands and surrounded by literally thousands of smaller, rocky islets, it combines the drama and open skies of Scandinavia with the verve, dynamism and urban cool of Western Europe. As with any destination of this scope (there are close to 850,000 residents in the inner city), the soul of the place lies in its many faces: the stucco walls of the Old Town, the contemporary pulse of the galleries, the consumerist buzz of the shopping heartlands, the deep peace of the parklands, the thumping bass of the nightlife and, increasingly, the gourmet draw of the restaurants. Stockholm location on the shores of the Baltic Sea means seasonal variations hit hard, and many locals will tell you that the only thing to match the beauty of a summer's evening in Stockholm is the winter charm of its frozen lakes and snow-fringed skylines. Water surrounds the city, so there's a distinct lack of the urban claustrophobia that affects other capitals, while the famously cordial Swedish temperament (generally friendly, polite and laid-back in equal measure) makes travel to the city easy and enjoyable -- if not always especially cheap. It's very much the hub of affairs in Sweden, to the point where some of those in the provinces refer to the city as the isdrottning (ice queen) as a dig at the capital's perceived sense of self-importance. This is highly unlikely to mirror the impression you'll have as a visitor, however -- it's more probable that you'll share the sentiments of Ingmar Bergman, who moved to Stockholm as a young man to study and work. "It is not a city at all," he once said. "It is ridiculous to think of it as a city. It is simply a rather large village, set in the middle of some forest and some lakes. You wonder what it thinks it is doing there." It's certainly true that Stockholm's unique character is a major reason for its popularity among travellers and, in a continent where charismatic urban destinations come thick and fast, it says plenty that the city's cultural scene is vibrant enough to rival anywhere else in northern Europe. On top of its exhibitions, museums and concerts, meanwhile, it's also a deeply romantic setting in which to while away a long weekend -- you'd have to be hard-hearted not to fall for the mix of preserved medieval architecture, sweeping water vistas and unfailingly intense nightlife. And the legendary national knack for design? It's apparent almost everywhere in Stockholm, from modernist high-rises and boutique fashion houses to sleek museums and baroque facades. Most importantly though, it's worth stressing just how much this is a city apart. It's the most populated urban area in Scandinavia, yet two thirds of it are still comprised of water and greenery. And if this doesn't seem probable, well, you've got the ideal excuse to go and check. ======================== Stockholm, Stockholm Museums, Stockholm Tourism, Stockholm Travel Guide, Stockholm Vacation, Stockholm Attractions, Stockholm Tours, Stockholm Hotels, Stockholm Restaurants, Stockholm Transport, Sweden Tourism, Sweden Travel guide, Sweden Vacation , Sweden == Stockholm - Sweden Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation, Attractions

Reuters 2014-12-02Sweden (i/ˈswiːdən/ SWEE-dən; Swedish: Sverige [ˈsværjɛ] (
listen)), officially the Kingdom of Sweden (Swedish:
Konungariket Sverige (help·info)), is a Nordic country on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. Sweden borders with Norway and Finland, and is connected to Denmark by a bridge-tunnel across the Øresund.
At 450,295 square kilometres (173,860 sq mi), Sweden is the third largest country in the European Union by area, with a total population of about 9.4 million. Sweden has a low population density of 21 inhabitants per square kilometre (54 /sq mi) with the population mostly concentrated to the southern half of the country. About 85% of the population live in urban areas. Sweden's capital city is Stockholm, which is also the largest city.
Sweden emerged as an independent and unified country during the Middle Ages. In the 17th century, the country expanded its territories to form the Swedish Empire. The empire grew to be one of the great powers of Europe in the 17th and early 18th century. Most of the conquered territories outside the Scandinavian Peninsula were lost during the 18th and 19th centuries. The eastern half of Sweden, present-day Finland, was lost to Russia in 1809. The last war in which Sweden was directly involved was in 1814, when Sweden by military means forced Norway into a personal union. Since then, Sweden has been at peace, practicing "non-participation in military alliances during peacetime and neutrality during wartime". However, Sweden has been a member of the European Union since 1 January 1995 and is a member of the OECD.
Statistics Sweden (Swedish: Statistiska centralbyrån, SCB) is the Swedish government agency responsible for producing official statistics regarding Sweden. National statistics in Sweden date back to 1686 when the parishes of the Church of Sweden were ordered to start keeping records on the population. SCB's predecessor, the Office of Tables (Tabellverket), was set up in 1749, and the current name was adopted in 1858.
As of 2008[update], the agency had approximately 1,400 employees. The offices of the agency are located in Stockholm and Örebro. Statistics Sweden publishes the Journal of Official Statistics.
