Ben Fogle travels to The Azores to explore the islands and takes on different challenges in each. On Faial he hikes along trails on a lunar landscape as well as along crater rims and finds out how volcanos have changes the island and the lives of its people. In the harbour town of Horta Ben displays his artistic abilities to leave his own landmark before a ferry ride to Pico where he climbs the highest mountain in Portugal to enjoy breathtaking views. On the island he also visits the vineyards growing among the lava stones and the underground lava tunnels. The island of St Jorges is ideal for more extreme adventure and here Ben's skills in coasteering, canyoning and abseiling along this rugged terrain are tested. Finally, Ben travels to the largest island, San Miguel and to the historic centre of Ponta Delgada to discover the island's rich heritage and culture. He travels to the most popular attraction on the island, Furnas and its spectacular geological feature of bubbling water and steaming vents and it's here where he cooks his own geo-thermal meal. Closeby, he takes a dip in the thermal lake which is renowned for its healing properties. The Lakes of Sete Cidades are examples of the dramatic scenery which form the backdrop to his journey and especially while he kayaks in one of the crater lakes and jumps onto a mountain bike to seek adventure further afield. Filmed by Rui Martins in São Miguel´s Island - Azores between August 25th and September the 2nd 2013. Video and Music by Rui Martins. Song: Nature´s Embrace....
Just a bunch of clips that I took while in the Azores from the end of August to the beginning of September 2012. I was going to show titles for each location but I ran into a slight issue. Still, I will put the times of each location in the description once everything is fine. Stay tuned. Also, it was my intention to only show static tripod shots. It's also a little over 20 minutes, Sorry! I wanted to shorten it but I decided to leave it as is. For some locations, I went again when the weather looked better so that's why some clips might look the same. I can assure you their all individual clips. I also want this video to be finally online rather than to wait any longer. It was a lot of work shooting all these scenes and hopefully some of you will enjoy it. Keep in mind that I do have a lot more clips which is of mostly the festival activities that will be posted in the future. I'm not sure when I'll get to it though. This first video is just to show the scenery and nothing else. Now I got to figure out the best way to edit the festivities since it includes putting flowers on the floor, parades, traditional dances, a magic show, wild night concerts in front of the church, etc. I'll most likely divide the videos up. Those were also shot mostly handheld with my SD600. I got other kinds of footage as well that I might upload. I used a hacked GH2 with the FlowMotion patch. The lens was only the 20mm prime and for the clips that were sunny, I used a ProMaster ND filter. For a lot of the first clips, I set the camera in a way that sort of made it look like film. That was unintentional although some people might like it. For a lot of the last clips, I used the standard setting. No color correcting what so ever for this entire piece. If you would like to download this video to really view the quality, click here: https://vimeo.com/50650237 Just hit the blue download button and choose original. It'll say 1 gig and then click on it. Keep in mind that it's a mistake. It's closer to 4 gigs when you download. I know it's very big but again, I wanted people to see the quality. It's way better than the streaming version in both YouTube or Vimeo. I arrived in Sao Miguel on the morning of December 31th and left in the afternoon of January 13. I partly went to see my grandmother who's 92 and been in bed for a few years. I also decided before I go that I really should rent a 4K camera, which ended up being the LX100. I ended having shots of the New Year's Even event in Ponta Delgada which is on my channel. I also got a ton of scenery shots like you see here. Sorry about some shots looking like an earthquake was happening. My tripod is very light and so when theirs a lot of winds, it causes a ton of shakes. The settings were mostly f/5.6 to f/7.1 and the shutter went anywhere from 30 to over 125. I did not have an ND filter. Still, as you can see, when your camera is on a tripod, it isn't too much of a big deal to not have it. Now if you panning with the camera, that's different and it's good to lock the shutter at 60. I had plans to shoot in 2 or 3 more locations with the camera but unfortunately something bad happened. One of my clips looked a little bit overexposed on my laptop. I went to the same spot again to re-shoot it and then I decided to get 1 more shot before I leave which was a shot at the bottom next to the ocean. While walking, the floor was already a bit slippery but I decided to go all the way regardless. Once their, I took the camera out of my coat pocket and get a quick shot. That shot is the last shot in this video by the way. Once I got the shot, I put the camera back into my coat pocket and about say 20 seconds later, a gigantic wave got to me. I went to hold on to the rocks. Once the water came back into the ocean, a second wave decided to mess with me. I ran to grab on to a wall to make sure I don't fall. On the way to get up, if a third wave got to me, it would be difficult to get to the wall and who knows what would have happened to me. Luckily, their wasn't a third wave and I made it up safely with just a few scratch and a sore elbow. Unfortunately, the camera got messed up because of the water. I felt very terrible because not only was that a rented camera, I wont be able to get any more shots with it. Also, I've always put the camera inside a plastic bag and on this day, I decided not to. When I got back to the US and played the clip on my TV in which I originally thought was over-exposed, I saw that it wasn't bad at all and in fact, it looked better than the re-shot clip!!!! Ahhhh! If I had known the clip wasn't bad, I wouldn't have went their. With all that said, I'm glad I went. It's always good to visit close relatives before they leave the Earth. Or to just visit the place you or your parents were born. Sometimes people plan to go back to certain places to visit but it's always best to do it early rather than later. At least you have people like me who'll make good videos but nothing like being in certain places in real life. If I were to ever get the funds, I'd do a video of every single Island of the Azores. Heck, I wouldn't mind traveling around the world to shoot the scenery and events. Here's part 1 of the New Year's event I shot with the LX100. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-LvnXrB0_M Here's the one I did in late August to early September of 2012 with a hacked GH2 camera. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE_sVV2qsy8 Yes, I know, I a lot of you most likely saw it by now since it has close to 86,000 views. I was joking to myself that uploading this video might slow down the views of my 2012 video since I'd love to see 100,000 on that video. For sure it would really be nice get that. When I uploaded my 2012 video to YouTube, the views for the video I uploaded in 2009 decreased by a heck of a lot. I really wished I gave myself a YouTube account and uploaded that video much earlier. I mean, that's nearly 3 years since I shot it. Now, I'm able to edit and upload my videos significantly faster. When I first started sharing that 2005 video around, I might have used something like MegaUpload. I just wasn't that into YouTube as I am now. A lot of people should be doing the same thing. People have shot all sorts of movies and photos in so many countries such as the scenery, cultural events, etc. Their could be events that people did in the past that they don't do any more. It would be good to put that online. Personally when I shoot videos, it's like I'm recording history. Heck, I actually wish I had got this 2015 video up much earlier even though it was shot this month.

Frank Joseph on Atlantis in the Azores Could a Newly Discovered Underwater Pyramid Resurrect an Old Hypothesis? From Issue 105 of Atlantis Rising Magazine (http://www.atlantisrising.com), Frank Joseph speaks with Atlantis Rising Magazine Publisher JD Kenyon on the subject of Atlantis in the Azores. About this Interview Dr. David Zink (1927-2008) was among the very few world-class scholars in the United States with personal courage enough to publicly state that Atlantis was real. His years of research at the Bimini Wall -- a 1200 foot long, stone structure lying under 19 feet of water 55 miles east of Miami, Florida -- not only established its man made provenance, but strongly suggested an Atlantean identity. Although he persuasively argued on behalf of the Wall's original function as a harbor facility, Dr. Zink concluded that Bimini was only an outpost, not Atlantis itself. The sunken city was out of place in the Bahamas, but must lie, he believed, among the Azores. About the Author: Frank Joseph is a leading investigator of ancient mysteries. He is also the editor-in-chief of Ancient American Magazine, an author of many books including "Lost Colonies of Ancient America", Before Atlantis, The Destruction of Atlantis, The Lost Civilization of Lemuria, Survivors of Atlantis, The Lost Treasure of King Juba, and other books. He lives in Minnesota.

Fox News 2015-03-18The Archipelago of the Azores (UK /əˈzɔrz/ ə-ZORZ, US /ˈeɪzɔrz/ AY-zorz; Portuguese: Açores, IPA: [ɐˈsoɾɨʃ]) is composed of nine volcanic islands situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, and is located about 1,500 km (930 mi) west of Lisbon and about 1,900 km (1,200 mi) southeast of Newfoundland. The islands, and their economic exclusion zone, form the Autonomous Region of the Azores, one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal. Its main industries are: agriculture, dairy farming (for cheese and butter products primarily), livestock ranching, fishing and tourism, which is becoming the major service activity in the region; added to which, the government of the Azores employs a large percentage of the population directly or indirectly in many aspects of the service and tertiary sectors.
There are nine major Azores islands and an islet cluster, in three main groups. These are Flores and Corvo, to the west; Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico and Faial in the centre; and São Miguel, Santa Maria and the Formigas Reef to the east. They extend for more than 600 km (370 mi) and lie in a northwest-southeast direction. The vast extent of the islands defines an immense exclusive economic zone of 1,100,000 km2 (420,000 sq mi). The westernmost point of this area is 3,380 km (2,100 mi) from the North American continent. All the islands have volcanic origins, although some, such as Santa Maria, have had no recorded activity since the islands were settled. Mount Pico, on the island of Pico, is the highest point in Portugal, at 2,351 m (7,713 ft). The Azores are actually some of the tallest mountains on the planet, measured from their base at the bottom of the ocean to their peaks, which thrust high above the surface of the Atlantic.
Flight 5094 can't get here fast enough
Lord, and leave this winter behind
I've got my shades on waitin in the concourse
And I'm ready to fly
To...
A sweet kind of summer standin' knee deep in the water
Drinkin' straight tequila and lime
Got my arm around a lady, and a red cup in a koozie
Cruisin' on Key West time
Sweet kind of summer
I told the cabbie man, take me to the sand
In this place called paradise
I've got a line that needs baitin' and a senorita waitin'
When the full moon fills up the sky
Sweet kind of summer standin' knee deep in the water
Drinkin' straight tequila and lime
Got my arm around a lady, and a red cup in a koozie
Cruisin' on Key West time
Sweet kind of summer
Left my phone on the mainland, don't wanna be found
I just wanna get down in a pirate town
In a sweet kind of summer standing knee deep in the water
Sippin coconut rum on ice
Got another drink waitin'
And the radio station's playin'
"No Woman, No Cry"
Sweet kind of summer standin' knee deep in the water
Drinkin' straight tequila and lime
Got my arm around my baby, and a red cup in a koozie
Cruisin' on Key West time
In Luxembourg on the grass
Did you know, oh, that this would pass
Oh, that this would pass?
In the shade and in the sun
There you lay till the day was done
Oh, the day was done
Later on by rolling train
You were going home
Never to be seen again
By the eyes of the lonely men
Oh, the lonely men
Walking down through streets so old
To get a glass of wine
Remembering other days
When the girls in the park would play
Oh, when they still played
From Luxembourg long ago
We walked out in the snow
That fell so soft and slow
That day it washed away
And then out in the rain
So wet but without pain
That day it washed away
That day it washed away
And all the hours
That wouldn't fly
Finally and passed us by
All night we lay awake
And watched the morning break
That day it washed away
If I had no name
Would it be the same
Walkin' in the rain on my own
Tryin' to go home?
If I was no one
Wouldn't it be fun
Never carin' where I should go
Where the wind blows?
If I was someone who needed you
Would you believe that it was true
Or look to see...
If it was really me
Standin' by the sea
Holdin' out a rose with no shame and no one gave
If I had no name
If I could wash away the clouds
With a wave of the hand
If I could make the sun come out
Shine its warmth down on the land
I would
If I could stop you feeling bad
With a kiss upon the head
Bring you back the peace you had
When you dreamed in your dream bed
I would
I would forever and make you whole
If I could ever tell you how
Deep inside I really feel
Stop and turn and face you now
With a hand upon the wheel
I would
I would and forever make you know
If I could wash away the clouds
Don't mind waiting, here uncertain
Watching while the time keeps burning, oh oh
Used to run around in circles
Losing wind and jumping hurdles, oh oh
So I don't mind, I don't mind
I, I don't mind waiting now
Gazed at pictures of the sunset
Where I'd been and hadn't been yet, oh oh
So I don't mind, I don't mind
I, I don't mind waiting now
I don't mind, I don't mind
In the darkness I've been waiting
I've been hungry, hot and hating
All the silence, can't you even hear?
How could it take so long to appear?
There was water in the sky then
There was water making islands
Now there's water falling in a tear
How could it take so long to appear?
Some need something they can lie on
Some need something they can die on
All I need's a bus to anywhere
How could it take so long to appear?
I have no one to go back to
I have nothing on my back too
Just the sun if all the clouds would clear
How could it take so long to appear?
It's hazy
And way out in the distance
There's something with emotion
Like a fire on the ocean
Burning
Turning into vapor
I'm strugglin' to find it
But I'm fallin' far behind it
One day
The sky's gonna open
Leavin' but a notion
Of a fire on the ocean
Dancin'
Tragic like a tango
The flames have no emotion
In the fire on the ocean
The fire on the ocean
It burns without emotion
The fire on the ocean
Why pretend that I can choose
When I know I have to lose
I can lose, I can lose, I can lose
'Cause I know, you won't give in
And you always have to win
You can win, you can win, you can win
See you searching here and there
Looking for it everywhere
You don't care, you don't care, you don't care
When I look into your eyes
I only realize
You're not there, you're not there, you're not there
If you know it isn't real
Why pretend that you can feel
You can feel, you can feel, you can feel
See you searching here and there
Looking for it everywhere
You don't care, you don't care, you don't care
See you searching here and there
Looking for it everywhere
Holding your hand
You are so lovely
I understand
Nothing at all
Holding your hand
Holding your hand
I won? t let it fall
To your side
Holding your hand
Holding your hand
Touching your hair
I feel so ugly
I can? t compare
To you at all
Touching your hair
Touching your hair
I won? t let it fall
In your eyes
Touching your hair
Touching your hair
Oh my love
What are you thinking of today?
I won? t let you fall
To the side
Holding your hand
Somewhere down the road
I? ll see you again
I don? t know when
But I know you? ll be the same
And I know I? ll be the same
Unchanged
You? ll free me again
But I? ll never be free
From memories
And I know your life will change
And I know my life will change
Unchained
Unchained unchained
We drift away
Like roses on the sea
Stars in the sky
They? re always alone
They? re on their own
But you know they? ll always shine
And I know they? ll always shine
Come on back
Don? t be long
Come on back
Come on
You were right
I was wrong
Come on back
Come on home
I watched you go
Around the bend
But I know
It? s not the end
Come on back
Don? t be long
Come on back
Come on home
You? re flying away
Through the clouds
You? re flying away
From me now
Come on back
Don? t be long
Come on back
I waited 'til I saw the sun
I don't know why I didn't come
I left you by the house of fun
I don't know why I didn't come (2x)
When I saw the break of the day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand
Catching teardrops in my hand
My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever
Out across the endless sea
I would die in ecstasy
But I'll be a bag of bones
Driving down the road alone
My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever
Something has to make you run
I don't know why I didn't come
I feel as empty as a drum
You search for me in places
Where you'll never find me
I've seen the empty faces
I leave them all behind me
Reaching out for something
That's beyond my grasp
Coming back with nothing
Hoping this won't last
The victim and the fall
I suffer through it all
There's nothing more
I have no more
I am a whore
There's nothing more
I find within your ruins
Only death and dust
Looking through your sewage
My bones begin to rust
I feel the need for something
That's beyond my grasp
Reaching out for nothing
Knowing this won't last
The victim and the fall
I suffer through it all
There's nothing more
I have no more
I am a whore
I would have to write a novel
Just to get out all my thoughts
'Cause I wanna talk about it
But I don't know where to start
I've been walking through a valley
With a thunder in my heart
And I'm trying not to hear it
But I don't know where to start
Even if there was an omen
Like the ringing of a bell
And anyway it's so hard to tell
So I know I might as well start
I know I might as well
I can't recall what I was dreaming
When I woke up with a start
If I only could remember
But I don't know where to start
I don't know where to start
What makes you think
You're so smart?
And what makes you think
That you're not part of this?
Long ago
You were fooled into thinking
You were removed
From this life
But if you feel
The way that I feel
Don't hide it
Gone this far, it's too late to turn back
Gone this far, it's too late to turn back
And the sky has turned from blue to black
Turned it on but you can't turn it off
Turned it on but you can't turn it off
And it grips you like a fatal cough
So tell me what you're gonna do?
Won't you tell me what you're gonna do
Happy but for awhile
The good times were out of style
And April came and went
And colder than it's ever been
You'd lay in the morning time
And gaze at the ceiling, tired and low
And lately you can hear the rain
Blowing against your windowpane
Sounding like a marching drum
Rolled in for a firing gun
It once used to bring you down
But now doesn't turn you 'round, you go, you go
And you won't remember when
Everyone was dancin' or reelin'
And the band was playin' with feelin'
While the rest of the world was rockin'
You and I were sittin' there talkin'
Watchin' all of the people
Watchin' all of the sky fall down
Said that you were always too shy
And everythin' kept passin' you by
While the rest of the world was rockin'
You and I kept sittin' there talkin'
Watchin' all of the people
Watchin' all of the sky fall down
A new year was lightin' the sky
And all you did was sit there and cry
And while the rest of the world was rockin'
You and I kept sittin' there talkin'
Watchin' all of the people
Watchin' all of the sky fall
Watchin' all of the people
I've been around...
And I realize it's always the same
All the time...
And I realize it's all been unchanged
What I find...
And you realize there's no one home
There's no way out...
When you realize you're all alone Some say, there's no way out
Here today, there's no way out
Every time I'm walking down by Delaware Park
You rarely hold my hand when it's after dark
And all of the places that we go and the things that we have seen? There's no way out
There's no way out Some say...
And you realized that time goes by?...
And you realized you're still alive
Alive today...
And you realize you're not gonna die?...
And you realize the sun goes by Some say, there's no way out
Here today, there's no way out Every time I come a knockin' at your door
You tell me to turn away, pal you're to poor
I ain't a rich boy, I've heard about all that
All the places that I go it's ching ching ching
There's no way out
There's no way out
And I realize it's always the same
And I realize it's all been unchanged
And you realize there's no one home
When you realize you're all alone(Robby's screaming other indecipherable words!)Every time I'm waiting for you in the rain
My mom says our love is sunk in a God damn vein I stand around and I think it's gonna work
But you look at me like I'm a jerk, oh! There's no way out
There's no way out
There's no way out
Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, where you been so long?
Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, where you been so long?
I been worr'in' 'bout you, baby,
Baby, please come home.
I got a bird that whistles,
I got a bird that sings.
I got a bird that whistles,
I got a bird that sings.
But I ain' a-got Corrina,
Life don't mean a thing.
Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, you're on my mind.
Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, you're on my mind.
I'm a-thinkin' 'bout you, baby,
Take your hand away from your face
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
And watch your house go up in flames
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
When you sit counting every wave
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
And you stare straight out into space
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Nothing's been lost
Finding it hard to live with the past
I knew from the start it couldn? t last
O tell me I know you wouldn? t lie
Watching the rain fall from the sky
Heart filled with pain, wanting to die
O help me I know you wouldn? t lie
I won't tell anybody
I swear to keep it a secret
You and me, we can be alone
Walking through a world of our own
I don't care what they say but
I don't want to hear their opinions
You and me, we can be alone
Walking through a world of our own
Don't think, it's only silly
If I go, you're gonna miss me
You and me, we can be alone
Walking through a world of our own
I keep looking down the road
Out the window
High and low
The gold horizon is halfway gone
The sea is shining
It ripples on
I keep waiting for a change
A new direction
Some exchange
The moon is rising
It? s getting late
It? s always timing
You have to wait
Don? t it make you wanna stick around
When your plane is lifting off the ground
Moving faster than the speed of sound
Is it written in the stars
Where we? ve been and where we are
And where we? re going?
I don? t know
There? s nothing showing but the glow
Don? t it make you wanna stick around
When your plane is lifting off the ground
(Sylvia Fricker)
When I got up this morning
You were on my mind
You were on my mind
I got some aches and
I got some pains and
I got some wounds to bind
So I went to the corner
Just to ease my pain
Just to ease my pain
I got drunk and
I got sick and
I came home again
Well I woke up this morning
You were on my mind
And you were on my mind
I got troubles
I got worries
I got wounds to bind
I got a feeling down in my shoes
Way down in my shoes
I got to move on
I got to travel
I got to walk away my blues
When I got up this morning
You were on my mind
You were on my mind
I got some aches and
I got some pains and
Wait what do you win
Saving time for nothing
And if you say you? re going blind
You? re not looking
Stop but don? t you end
Saving love for no one
And if you say it? s just a dream
You? re still sleeping
So the wind blows
The sun won? t shine
Down on your door
So the time goes
Faster than it did before
It? s not for nothing
Why would you stay in
Saving space for nowhere
And if you say it makes no sense
You? re not listening
And if you say it? s just a dream
I have been around for awhile
Following the bouncing ball
I have seen the offers
Hanging in the air like flies
You can have it all
And then I see it
Then I see my life
Like a dog hanging
fifty feet above the ground
And I feel it
With the pain this time
And I know now
to find a place to turn around
But someone's got to break these problems down
someone's got to break these problems down
I have seen the first design
And I have been the last to go
I have seen the others
Standing in the feeding lines
When it's all they know
And then I see it
Then I see my life
Like a dog hanging
fifty feet above the ground
And I feel it
With the pain this time
And I know now
to find a place to turn around
But someone's got to break these problems down
someone's got to break these problems down
someone's got to break these problems down
down
down
So far from where I started out
So far from where I wanna be
Listening for answers in the wind
But can't find a rock to plant my feet
Looking for love in all the wrong places
Down on my knees and now I'm praying for patience
I know there's gotta be a better way
In the back of my mind I hear my momma say
Slow down, Baby you're going too fast
You got you hands in the air
With you feet on the gas
You're 'bout to wreck your future
Running from your past
You need to slow down before
You go down baby
Thinking the faster that I go
The faster (that) I will reach my goal
The race is not given to the swift
But to the one who endureth
I thought that all my obstacles were behind me
Walking around like I'm made out of diamond
I tripped and fell and it remindedme
Move over and let my angels guideme
Slow down, Baby you're going too fast
You got you hands in the air
With you feet on the gas
You're 'bout to wreck your future
Running from your past
You need to slow down before
You go down baby
Sometimes you gotta be still
Before you can get ahead
Be still
Ask the universe for help
Be real
You can't do it all by yourself
Ah, no no
Sometimes, sometimes you gotta be still
It take some time to reach you and they
Be still
Take some time to clear your space
Be real
Chaos isn't good for your health
Ah, no no, ahhh
Cuz I'm breaking things and losing things
I lost my cell phone again the other day
Now, I don't wanna live this way, no
In the back of my mind I hear my mama say
Slow down, Baby you're going too fast
You got you hands in the air
With you feet on the gas
You're 'bout to wreck your future
Running from your past
You need to slow down before
You go down baby
(Slow down baby)
Slow down (baby)
You're going too fast
Slow down (baby)
Feet on the gas
Slow down (baby)
Weren't you so strong that you played with fire
And you didn't get burned by your own desire?
But after all you've said and done
You had to fall like everyone, like everyone
Isn't it so hard when you're going down
And to really believe you'll turn it back around?
And after all you've said and done
You had to fall like everyone, like everyone
The blazing sun looks you in the eye
When you crash down through the sky
And after all you've said and done
No matter how long it takes
One day the dam will break
One day the tears will fall
Just like that waterfall
Down, down, falling down
Till the walls are crumbling
How can you be so strong
Tell me I don't belong
But just like the plans you make
One day the dam will break
Down, down, falling down
Tumbling in the water
There's no place for you to hide
And no need to be so scared
When you know that I care
Think that you'll keep your mind
By leaving me behind
But it's not your mind at stake
And one day the dam will break
One day the dam will break
Too late to be sorry
Too late to try again
No way to deny it
Why not take it on the chin
And walk on
One day it was something
Now it's not anything
No way to replace it
Why not take it on the chin
And walk on
And walk on
Don't be so sad and grave
I know you're bold and so brave
That's life as you know it
That's how it's always been
No way to escape it
Why not take it on the chin
And walk on
