Philadelphia ( /ˌfɪləˈdɛlfiə/) is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the county seat of Philadelphia County, with which it is coterminous. The city is located in the Northeastern United States along the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers. It is the fifth-most-populous city in the United States, with a population of 1,526,006 as of the 2010 U.S. Census. Philadelphia is also the commercial, cultural, and educational center of the Delaware Valley, home to 6 million people and the country's fifth-largest metropolitan area. The Philadelphia metropolitan division consists of five counties in Pennsylvania and has a population of 4,008,994. Popular nicknames for Philadelphia are Philly and The City of Brotherly Love, the latter of which comes from the literal meaning of the city's name in Greek (Greek: Φιλαδέλφεια ([pʰilaˈdelpʰeːa], Modern Greek: [filaˈðelfia]) "brotherly love", compounded from philos (φίλος) "loving", and adelphos (ἀδελφός) "brother").
Plot
Philly is deeply troubled by the fact that his mother recently sent his older brother Morris to live at a mental health facility. While wandering about on a day that he decides to skip school, Philly learns of one particular historical incident that sheds new light on his brother's and mother's predicament. The Horse Latitudes is a psychological drama that probes popular perceptions of "conformity" and "freedom", and asks what it takes to be functional
Beery as the law . . . blasting his way in thundering thrills
The Father A Cop . . . The Son A Killer
Beery's Back In "Big House" Thrills !
When they cut you, the blade went deep
You thought a blanket of silence would strengthen your feet
Then a name came out in prophecy
Still you were terrifier that name was truth
It's truth
Brother you must find which way to go
And with grace be bold
Just take your time
Take your time
And with grace be bold
Despite truth, the talk was cheap
You thought a princess with purpose was all that you'd need
Then a name came out in prophecy
He knew that growning fire
It came from you
Yes. you
Brother you must find which way to go
And with grace be bold
Just take your time
Take your time
And with grace be bold
The clouds will come but they're not gonna stop this love
The clouds will come
Now a hole would be something
No, I was still nothing
Brother you must find which way to go
And with grace be bold
Just take your time
Take your time
And with grace be bold
The clouds will come but they're not gonna stop this love

Raindrops falling softly
As I walk on down the road
Neon lights flicker
Reflecting on my leather coat
A black guy passes me by
He's looking kind'a high
When I'm reaching for a smile
I see that strange look in his eye
Here I am in Philadelphia
And I'm walking in the rain.
You're out there in Compton, baby
Do you still remember my name?
I couldn't hear what he said
But I suddenly realised
Thousands thoughts go through my head
While his steps they follow mine
A woman must be crazy
To be out this time at night
Unless she's looking for some business
Unless she's feeling real uptight
Here I am in Philadelphia
And I'm walking in the rain. (x 2)
You're out there in Compton, baby
Do you still remember my name?
Here I'm standing at the station
Waiting for my train to come
When that dude gave me a look
Made me wonder what I'd done
A woman must be crazy
To be out this time at night
Unless she's looking for some trouble
Unless she's out of her mind
Here I am in Philadelphia
And I'm walking in the rain. (x 2)
You're out there in Compton, baby
Do you still remember my name?
Do you baby?
Do you remember?
Do you baby?
Do you remember?
Let the months blend together
We'll get lost in outer space
I've been here for too long
I feel stranded in this place
Keep me in your pocket
Somewhere I know that I belong
A picture for your locket will keep you smiling when
I'm gone
(keep you smiling when I'm gone)
I can't seem to keep my head on straight when I'm
holding hands with you
It's the way you keep me here surprised with all the
little things you do
Step back and I take a look at life
It was nothing before you
It's the way you keep me here surprised from all the
little things you do
Please have a seat let's stay awhile
We'll face the past with promises
We live to learn and learn to give
I'll cover all your secret lies
Cross your heart and hope to die
We'll face the past with promises
And learn to live and learn to live
I can't seem to keep my head on straight when I'm
holding hands with you
It's the way you keep me here surprised with all the
little things you do
Step back and I take a look at life
It was nothing before you
It's the way you keep me here surprised from all the
little things you do
(all the little things you do)
I was wandering downtown in philadelphia
waiting for something new in my boring life
then I saw this bird walking next to me
2 hours later we were fucking in my good old bed
so you got to give it back to me
you got to give it back to me
I fucked my life but I want it back
tell me not again
I was wandering downtown in philadelphia
waiting for something new in my boring life
I met some friends in the park feeling just like me
Sometimes I think that I know
What love's all about
And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
I've got my friends in the world,
I had my friends
When we were boys and girls
And the secrets came unfurled.
City of brotherly love
Place I call home
Don't turn your back on me
I don't want to be alone
Love lasts forever.
Someone is talking to me,
Calling my name
Tell me I'm not to blame
I won't be ashamed of love.
Philadelphia,
City of brotherly love.
Brotherly love.
Sometimes I think that I know
What love's all about
And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
Philadelphia
Summer comes, and I remember a time
When I was young, and I was always changing my mind
I could be anyone I wanted, travel great travels
I had everything I needed
In a small room I had big ideas
And now I'm trying to hold on to those big ideas
Oh, I know...
Those days are through, but I still think of you, Philadelphia
And all the music... you know, it was my protection
I didn't need no one, cause I found affection
In the six strings of an old guitar and my radio
I moved to the beat of the hot streets
Where the people were singing and dancing and waving their hands in the air
While my Mama, she shook her head, and she said "Lord have mercy"
And once again... The good ol' days are gone; ain't it funny how we still carry on, Philadelphia
I had to leave; knew I had to look to other places
To try out my big ideas in front of all these faces
And hope that the lessons and beauty of being young
Someone with the imagination of a child
Could bring a smile to all these faces
From a small room, Room 222, I've seen it happen many times before
And I know, I know, I know, I know I'll see it happen again
If I can just keep...
Remembering that those special things... and the big ideas,
Verse 1:
Like a gunshot from miles away
She's moving in
Like a rainstorm with out the clouds
She falls on you
Like a phone call to worn the truth
It never rings
Chorus:
It's the truth before the lies
It's the way she doesn't try
It's the wink before the sly
In Philadelphia
In Philadelphia
Verse 2:
They met after work one day
She laughed with him
They drove off their separate ways
Then met for drinks
When he got home the silent guilt was deafening
Chorus:
It's the truth before the lies
It's the way she doesn't try
It's the wink before the sly
In Philadelphia
In Philadelphia
Bridge:
She thought that love was gonna fight
She thought that love was gonna take her home
She thought that love was gonna save her
But love just never showed
She felt that love was always watching
Oh we learned that love was supposed to wait
But sometimes it's the feelings
That are standing in the air
He slips off his worn out suit and tries to rest
She's a million miles away across the bed
She rolls over puts her hand across his chest
Chorus:
It's the truth before the lies
It's the way she doesn't try
It's the wink before the sly
In Philadelphia
In Philadelphia
In Philadelphia
oooooooohooooo

You step through me
And the screen door hits the wood
And your packing all your things
You say your moving out to there to Hollywood
And I can't do a thing
You say there's nothing for you
In this cardboard town
And every bridge you cross
Your gonna burn it to the ground
You wont listen to a word that I'm telling ya
So who's running through the halls
In the houses of pain
That are staring back at me
Like the ocean from a plane
I swear I've seen your eyes
in the ghost of Philadelphia
I think about you late at night sometimes
When I can't sleep
Cause I can hear the train
It's always there
You just don't know it
Till a quarter to three
You just can't hear it in the day
When every body's got your number
In a plexy glass town
Where the birds ain't got wings
But no one makes a sound
Cause they all know how to fly
Just I wouldn't buy what they're selling ya
So who's running through the halls
In the houses of pain
That are staring back at me
Like the ocean from a plane
I swear I've seen your eyes
in the ghost of Philadelphia
I run into your old man every once and again
Mostly in the spring
Reminds me of our younger and more genuine days when
You weren't so out of reach
Still for all your running
You just can't change a mile
Of the things you carry around
In the closet of your mind
And the days keep coming man
They never fail ya
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
Your never gonna run away
From what your hanging round your head
And I'm never gonna run away
Sometimes I think that I know what love's all about
And when I see the light, I know I'll be all right
I've got my friends in the world, I had my friends
When we were boys and girls and the secrets came unfurled
City of brotherly love, place I call home
Don't turn your back on me, I don't want to be alone
Love lasts forever
Someone is talking to me, calling my name
Tell me I'm not to blame, I won't be ashamed of love
Philadelphia
City of brotherly love, brotherly love
Sometimes I think that I know what love's all about
And when I see the light, I know I'll be all right
I sit at rittenhouse park and see a guy from time
cycle give the finger to a passing motorist and it kind of makes me smile
this is the city of brotherly love and crime
and we only bombed our own city once, one time
I'll show you around the city and where you can't go after dark
and if skating's your thing I'll show you where you cannot skate in LOVE park
the dialer doesn't work on any of our phones but here's the place that we call our home
philly's the place where the mummers are weird and I do not think the Phillies have won
in years I begged Mayor Rendell and the cops on the street
to have mercy on me and Jen and please blow up South Street
Philadelphia, get to know us
Philadelphia, get to know us
the Philadelphia party can go fuck its own face
and yeah sure we got our problems in dealing with race
the statue of William Penn ... sitting all ...
well he's kind of a loner if you look at it from the right angle it looks like he has a boner
Philly's the place where the mummers are weird and i do not think the Sixers have won
in years I begged Mayor Rendell and the cops on the beat
to have mercy on me and Jen and please blow up South Street
Philadelphia, get to know us
Philadelphia, get to know us
hey Brian, did you know Cinderrella's from Philadelphia,
and we have uh Independence Hall here too yeah
but we also got Frank Rizzo and Delaware Avenue YEAH!
Philadelphia, get to know us
Your clean living, clear eyed
Clever, level headed brother says
He'll put all the screws
Upon your newest lover
Buddha's in the fireplace
The truth's in drugs from outer space
Maybe it's right to be nervous now
Who are these madmen
What do they want from me
With all of their straight talk
From their misery
Everything'd be just fine
If I had the right pastime
I'd've been Raskolnikov
But Mother nature ripped me off
In Philadelphia
I'm sure that I felt healthier
Maybe it's right to be nervous now
I had liberty of movements
I had liberty of movements
But I'm so lazy
But I'm so lazy
I'm so lazy, I'm so lazy
You're just a big kid
You're not so big at that
You never got the hang of it
Now you're being looked at
Where have I seen you before
Same place you saw me, I expect
I've got a good face for memories
In Philadelphia
I'm sure that I felt healthier
Sometimes I think that I know
What love's all about
And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
I've got my friends in the world,
I had my friends
When we were boys and girls
And the secrets came unfurled.
City of brotherly love
Place I call home
Don't turn your back on me
I don't want to be alone
Love lasts forever.
Someone is talking to me,
Calling my name
Tell me I'm not to blame
I won't be ashamed of love.
Philadelphia,
City of brotherly love.
Brotherly love.
Sometimes I think that I know

And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
