A remake of the 1973 horror classic, The Wicker Man (2006) casts Nicolas Cage as Edward Malus, a policeman determined to solve the case of a missing child who was last seen with a remote and mysterious island community. Far from terror, the 2006 remake is best known for it's failure to live up to the original which results in a laughable performance from Cage. "Despite retaining significant chunks of Shaffer's dialogue to go along with the basic story structure, LaBute has transformed the eerie, disturbing psychological thriller into an unintentional comedy." - James Berardinelli, ReelViews WUD FIlm is a student-run film committee at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Matthew McConaughey takes a dangerous star trek to save his people in The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan's new, big budget sci-fi movie Interstellar, marking quite a departure from the roles that made him famous. Following praise of McConaughey's performances in Dallas Buyers Club, which earned him his first Oscar, and HBO's True Detective, will the McConaissance continue with Christopher's take on space and time travel? io9.com's Annalee Newitz says that the film's "greatest strength" is its "visual impact" but that it "tries to tell the story of humanity, and that's where it stumbles." Reelviews' James Berardinelli disagrees with Newitz, saying Interstellar has tremendous action set pieces to go along with a wonderfully unpredictable script. http://www.eonline.com/news/595448/interstellar-review-roundup-do-critics-think-the-new-matthew-mcconaughey-sci-fi-film-is-stellar?cmpid=rss-000000-rssfeed-365-topstories&utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=rssfeeds&utm_campaign=rss_topstories http://www.wochit.com

Michael Myers is coming to get you, and nothing will stop him. From Wikipedia: “[Halloween’s] score consists of a piano melody played in a 10/8 or "complex 5/4" meter composed and performed by director John Carpenter. Critic James Berardinelli calls the score "relatively simple and unsophisticated", but admits that "Halloween's music is one of its strongest assets". Carpenter stated in an interview, "I can play just about any keyboard, but I can't read or write a note." In the end credits, Carpenter bills himself as the "Bowling Green Philharmonic Orchestra" for performing the film's score, but he did receive assistance from composer Dan Wyman, a music professor at San José State University.”

The Inquisitr 2014-11-05James Berardinelli (born September 25, 1967) is an American online film critic.
Berardinelli was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and spent his early childhood in Morristown, New Jersey. At the age of nine years, he relocated to the township of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He attended the University of Pennsylvania from 1985 until 1990, obtaining both a Bachelor of Science and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduating he worked for Bellcore company, now Telcordia Technologies, and spent the next 15 years working "in a variety of fields, including fiber optics, video testing, and software systems." In 2004, he married one of his longtime readers. In 2010 he announced publicly that he and his wife were expecting their first child.
As a child, Berardinelli did not spend much time in theaters, and as a teenager saw only five or six movies a year. He did not become interested in cinema until he was in college. In 1991, the year before he started reviewing, he saw about 30 films. The number increased to 180 in 1992, when he wrote reviews for his own use. Starting in 1993, when he started publishing his reviews in Usenet, he began seeing between 220 and 250 theatrical releases per year. In 1997 he became a film critic and now estimates that he has seen more than 7000 films in total.
