I love life here. It's very laid back and people are very friendly. Chiang Mai has really done me well. This past weekend, I took a trip to Bangkok. The first time I went to Bangkok I absolutely HATED it! Traffic, smog, heat and did I say traffic? It just wasn't for me. But after living in Chiang Mai for the past 9 months I forgot how exciting big city life can be. Bangkok vs. Chiang Mai I will share with you the pros and the cons. Bangkok-It is a big city. It reminds me of New York of Southeast Asia. It’s a crazy town filled with all kinds of crazy characters and situation. But that is what makes it Bangkok. You can truly live it up here. Finest dining, entertainment and night life you could ever imagine. You have any and everything at your disposal 24 hours a day! But it comes along with the worst traffic in the world, it's also the hottest city in the world and the people are not as nice. I mean come on...it’s a big city. You have o time to be nice! The cost of living ranges about 2k a month including your rent. With this you can really live quiet a nice life! Chiang Mai- The rose of the north. This has been my home for the past 9 month. It's an awesome place to live. It's very laid back; great food and the people are amazing. Everyone is so helpful and it truly is a wonderful place. Chiang Mai can also be TOO laid back where you almost lose a since of Urgency. You can really get lost in its 'Whatever' kind of philosophy. The quality of living for the price is unmated. You can live quiet the life for $700 a month...including rent. Some live off less. But for me $700 works for me lifestyle.
