A monarchy is a form of government in which sovereignty is actually or nominally embodied in a single individual (the monarch).
Forms of monarchy differ widely based on the level of legal autonomy the monarch holds in governance, the method of selection of the monarch, and any predetermined limits on the length of their tenure. When the monarch has no or few legal restraints in state and political matters, it is called an absolute monarchy and is a form of autocracy. Cases in which the monarch's discretion is formally limited (most common today) are called constitutional monarchies. In hereditary monarchies, the office is passed through inheritance within a family group, whereas elective monarchies are selected by some system of voting. Historically these systems are most commonly combined, either formally or informally, in some manner. (For instance, in some elected monarchies only those of certain pedigrees are considered eligible, whereas many hereditary monarchies have legal requirements regarding the religion, age, gender, mental capacity, and other factors that act both as de facto elections and to create situations of rival claimants whose legitimacy is subject to effective election.) Finally, there are situations in which the expiration of a monarch’s reign is set based either on the calendar or on the achievement of certain goals (repulse of invasion, for instance.) The effect of historical and geographic difference along each of these three axes is to create widely divergent structures and traditions defining “monarchy.”
George VI (Albert Frederick Arthur George; 14 December 1895 – 6 February 1952) was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death. He was the last Emperor of India, and the first Head of the Commonwealth.
As the second son of King George V, he was not expected to inherit the throne and spent his early life in the shadow of his elder brother, Edward. He served in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force during World War I, and after the war took on the usual round of public engagements. He married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in 1923, and they had two daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret.
George's elder brother ascended the throne as Edward VIII on the death of their father in 1936. However, later that year Edward revealed his desire to marry the divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson. British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin advised Edward that for political and religious reasons he could not marry Mrs Simpson and remain king. Edward abdicated in order to marry, and George ascended the throne as the third monarch of the House of Windsor.
Dita Von Teese (born Heather Renée Sweet on September 28, 1972) is an American burlesque dancer, model, costume designer, author and actress.
Dita Von Teese was born Heather Renée Sweet on September 28, 1972, in West Branch, MI, the middle child of three daughters. Her mother was a manicurist and her father was a machinist. She is of partly Armenian heritage.
Von Teese is known for her fascination with 1940s cinema and classic retro style. This began at a young age and was fostered by her mother, who would buy clothes for her daughter to dress up in. Her mother was a fan of old, Golden-era Hollywood films, and it was from her that Von Teese developed a fascination with the actresses of that day, especially Betty Grable.
She was classically trained as a ballet dancer from an early age, and danced solo at age thirteen for a local ballet company. Though she originally wanted to be a ballerina, Von Teese states that "By 15, I was as good as I’d ever be." She was later to incorporate this element into her burlesque shows, where she frequently goes en pointe.
David Starkey, CBE, FSA (born 3 January 1945) is a British constitutional historian, and a radio and television presenter.
He was born the only child of Quaker parents, and attended Kendal Grammar School before entering Cambridge through a scholarship. There he specialised in Tudor history, writing a thesis on King Henry VIII's household. From Cambridge he moved to the London School of Economics, where he taught history until 1998.
Starkey is a well known radio and television personality, first appearing on the latter in 1977. While a regular contributor to the BBC Radio 4 debate programme The Moral Maze, his acerbic tongue earned him the sobriquet of "rudest man in Britain"; his frequent appearances on Question Time have been received with criticism and applause. Starkey has presented several history documentaries. In 2002 he signed a £2 million contract with Channel 4 for 25 hours of programming. Recently, he was a contributor on the Channel 4 series, Jamie's Dream School. An accomplished author, Starkey has written several books on the Tudors.
Jeremy Dickson Paxman (born 11 May 1950) is an English journalist, author and broadcaster. He has worked for the BBC since 1977. He is noted for a forthright and abrasive interviewing style, particularly when interrogating politicians. His regular appearances on the BBC2's Newsnight programme have been criticised as aggressive, intimidating and condescending, and also applauded as tough and incisive. He is also the question master of University Challenge, succeeding Bamber Gascoigne when the programme was revived in 1994.
Paxman was born in Leeds. His mother, Joan, born 1920, was a housewife. Paxman is the eldest of four children and has two brothers, one of whom, Giles, is the British Ambassador to Spain (having previously been ambassador to Mexico), and a sister, Jenny, a producer at BBC Radio.
He was brought up in Yorkshire and Peopleton, near Pershore, Worcestershire. In 1964, he went to Malvern College and read English at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he edited the undergraduate newspaper Varsity. While at Cambridge, Paxman was briefly a member of the Labour Club.
Autumn's back and it's cool again.
And, the better things that you feel set into the cold.
Grab your jacket, fix your hat, and face the snow.
Throw your pack across your back before you go.
A slow goodbye and the batt'ry dies
'Fore your breathe your last is your second life. You're alive.
Pay your pleasantries to all the passers by.
Say the words to them, but never beg the why.
Sleeping in to save your cold goodbye.
Slipping down the same old rope. Goodbye.
The blink of an eye and the tears you cry.
Carry luggage along the electric line this time.
Swear your heart out yours won't intersect with mine.
Unwrap your silverware as you prepare to dine.
And you're carried away to the nearest place.
Yeah, you've seen it before, the familiar face, this town.
Jason's chomping at his bit to send your 'round.
Hanging upside like a spider spin you down.
You're sleeping to beat of the real thing.
'Cause you got and cold and unescapable feeling, yeah.
You put the horse before the car.
You got a mark on your head and a battle scar.
Take the title to escape your past.

The heart it is a beast, we're not written equally
Where can we lay this blame, between the clouds and the flames?
Raise my hand up to the sun, dazed in mortuary
Crimson drops upon the ground, confusion all around, confusion all around
I know that she loves me, why do I always pull it all apart
I know that she gets me, yeah she's always got my back
I know that she adores me, she's everything I want
But black has always been the colour of my heart
The colour of my heart
Under a silent moon, beats a sea without a shore
Hear the floorboards creek while the angels gently weep
The chambers of the sun, will they judge me now?
The great eternity is all but mystery, all but mystery
I know that she loves me, why do I always pull it all apart
I know that she gets me, yeah she's always got my back
I know that she adores me, she's everything I want
But black has always been the colour of my heart
Better button up your coat.
Dark December now pervades the air.
Your ears are red and cold,
And you can't hear anything I say. Obey.
Walking only under streetlights,
Oh, but are they gonna lead you home?
You're alone and under cover from your own eyes.
So, why? Why do you even try?
It's okay. You just gotta learn to quit yourself.
Oh but stay because tomorrow's gonna come.
Better sip another smoke.
To let it out you gotta take it in, again, again.
Two minds, one heart.
One lying and deceitful dirty heart, dirty heart.
One body, one body,
One half gone body.
And the score's about to get run up in the second half.
Without a change in your deceitful dirty heart, dirty heart.
There is a giant that’s asleep inside us all.
You got to wake it up if you ever want to hear the vict’ry call
And have it all. So lift your glass and have it all.
So lift your glass and have it all.
So lift your glass and have it all.
Come on hear the vict’ry call.
There is a thief who wants to make your dreams come true.
And when you’re fast asleep, he’ll come around and steal them all from
you.
He’ll take it all. In your American crystal ball.
In your American crystal ball.
In your American crystal ball.
He’ll come around and take it all.
We’re simply starved for an excuse to go crazy.
We’re looking so hard for a chance to scare the doubt.
So, we’ll create a diversion. We’ll give ‘em something to shout about.
So, raise your voice and scare the doubt,
So, raise your voice and scare the doubt.
Let's spend the night together, spend the night in your arms
You've got the red dress on you, I've got the book of charms
Let's make a daring story, dress up like Tollington
We'll be the secret army desperately on the run
Gold in the fire, gold in the fire, gold in the fire, gold in the fire is you
Your love stuck in my bones
The light's calling you
Maybe just one more dance
Be slow and be true
Let's spend the night together, spend the night in your arms
Dust the light off my shoulder, you sing the school boy psalms
Let's paint you picture perfect, run around in the rain
Building a magic castle, escape on our aeroplane
Your love stuck in my bones
The light's calling you
Maybe just one more dance
Be slow and be true
Baby don't you cry
Baby don't you cry
Tears wont help you
Though you're pouring tonight
Baby don't you cry
It's never easy letting go
But you can't keep holding on
To someone you never really known
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
And my days are mine alone
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
Sometime you only see the light
When you're standing in darkness
Tonight might save you life
Baby don't you cry
Tears won't stop the world from turning
It's gonna be a hard mile
Oh but I'll be alright
Baby don't you cry
For long you letting go
When you try you try you try
I'm just no fear there by your side
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
And my days are mine alone
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
Sometime you only see the light
When were surrounded by darkness
Tonight might save you life
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
And the future is mine alone
I'm living without you now
I'm living without you now
Sometime you only see the light
When were surrounded by darkness
Tonight might save you life
I fell between the lines made you surrender
The promise at the start just got lost in the way
Hell eternity gaze at the splendor
Give up all these simple games that we hold on to
Now our victory march is struck with charm
I can bear the tears upon my arm
Now our victory march is struck with charm
We can keep the spirit safe from harm
Rise from the ash in darkness
The phoenix alive
The phoenix alive
Turn bones to constellations
The stars in our eyes
The stars in our eyes
We tore ourselves apart only indifference
We write the empty lines of the illusions we had
We plead ten million times to aid the persistence
This will be our last chance that we'll hold on to
Now our victory march is struck with charm
I can bear the tears upon my arm
Now our victory march is struck with charm
We can keep the spirits safe from harm
Rise from the ash in darkness
The phoenix alive
The phoenix alive
Turn bones to constellations
The stars in our eyes
The stars in our eyes
Rise from the ash in darkness
The phoenix alive
The phoenix alive
Turn bones to constellations
The stars in our eyes
The stars in our eyes
This angry voice
Still in your head
Still in the air
Hear your victory march,
When your tears
And then, when there is just one woman left standing in the room
Then she will be yours
Disintegration
You, you and me
Hold our breath and count to three
I want so much to give you my everything
Disintegration, suffocation
My life is taken, my annihilation
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
There's a fear inside of me
Open up and take it slowly
Less it's all my reality
Imma be, Imma hard my heartbeat
I'm, I'm so afraid giving to you endlessly
Look for for your touch
Never have I died so much much
Disintegration, suffocation
My life is taken, my annihilation
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
There's a fear inside of me
Open up and take it slowly
Less it's all my reality
Imma be, Imma hard my heartbeat
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Take my love for you
Disintegration, suffocation
