Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in country music. She signed to the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. She then embarked on the 111-date Speak Now World Tour, which was attended by over 1.6 million fans and has become one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time. The album's third single, "Mean", won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance. Mel: Isn't sex the best tension release there is? It's like a really good sweaty game of racquetball. Except you get to come at the end.
Mel: Who ever said you care about me, anyways?::Dark: Didn't I give you my Cap'n Crunch decoder ring back in the 6th grade?
[first lines]::Dark: [voice-over] L.A. is like... nowhere. Everybody who lives here is lost.
Lucifer: I gotta burn off these calories fast, before I blow up. Let's go rollerblading or something. You wanna come along, Dark?::Dark: I'd rather have my ball hairs burned off with an acetylene torch!::Lucifer: Well, that can be arranged.
Lilith: Blood is cool.
Shad: I heard a story that last week down in Brentwood, a guy croaked and nobody knew he had died alone in his house. By the time they found him, his pet dog had eaten his dead face off.::Lilith: Dogs eating people is cool.
Dark's Mom: Uh! It's soggy as a wet armpit in here. How long where you in that shower abusing yourself? You pump your handle too much, young man. If you keep this up, one day it's just going to wither up and fall off!::Dark Smith: Shut-up shut-up shut-up shut-up!
Alyssa: [after stuffing their faces with cake] Uh, I am so stuffed. Are you gonna... you know... upchuck?::Dingbat: I promised my mom that I wouldn't do that anymore. You?::Alyssa: I'm just gonna do a bunch of speed later and not eat for, like... three days. What about you, Egg?::Egg: I'm gonna be sick...

If we never see
Then we'll forever sleep
While rolling on the floor
Oh, Mab has a plan for me
We run for our lives
From the life we would chance
We hide and let it pass
While we're making plans
Come take my hand
Here under the trance
I hope when we arise
We don't get crushed by the sands
Oh, Mab has a plan for me
We'll look up and see
Then we can ride the beams
Then we will speak no lies
Or perish when we die
Oh, Mab has a plan for me
Trapped in a dream
Let me know when I can go
Oh, she brings us to our knees
Will we decide to leave?
Will our live ever cease to seem
Void of worth and dead at birth?
Oh, it's time for us to leave...
If we never see
Then we'll forever sleep
While rolling on the moors
Or crumpled on the floor
Oh, Mab has a plan for me
We're mentally bruised, tattered, and torn
We covered it in sleep
And now we're deformed
We slept for so long
Oh why can't we wake?
Don't let it end girl
Please don't make that mistake ever
I've been racing for you, honey
But you take your love
From under my feet
The very moment I arrive
I hold the invitation in my hand
You smile and I don't understand
When you tell me the writing ain't yours
You were the one thing I could count on
Even if your apathy was what I expected
Oh, darling, I waited and waited to feel your footsteps
And to hear your breath
But maybe I just wanted someone to wait for
You were ever in my mind
You were behind my soul each time
I held it to the flame
You were ever in my precious thoughts
I'd leave a room of angels
Just to be alone
If only to say your name
I never told you I needed you, darling
Like a rose needs the rain
How could you possibly know how much?
So I reach for your love
Like the moon and the stars
Ever in my sight
Ever out of touch
There's a spotlight of a holy kind
Think it comes from somewhere
Up in the sky or from some far off, lovely place
But this light never, ever, ever shone on me
At least as far as I could see
So I sat in the dark and I watched you
Now I just cry to myself
When there's no one around
And I teach myself to walk backwards
Out of any given situation
Yes, I can be graceful and try
Not to step on my train and
You don't have to say goodbye
But I'll be right here if you want to
You were ever in my mind
You were behind my soul each time
I held it to the flame
You were ever in my precious thoughts
I'd leave a room of angels
Just to be alone
If only to say your name
I never told you I needed you, darling
Like a rose needs the rain
How could you possibly know how much?
So I reach for your love
Like the moon and the stars
Ever in my sight
Ever out of touch
Now, I could paint your portrait
If I never saw you again
When I am old someone may ask me
If I ever loved
And I will speak but they won't recognize
My words, they'll say I'm telling lies
And maybe I am
Maybe I am
All I know is
You were ever in my mind
You were behind my soul each time
I held it to the flame
You were ever in my precious thoughts
I'd leave a room of angels
Just to be alone
If only to say your name
I never told you I needed you, darling
Like a rose needs the rain
How could you possibly know how much?
So I reach for your love
Like the moon and the stars
Ever in my sight
Ever out of touch
I never told you I needed you, darling
Like a rose needs the rain
How could you possibly know how much?
So I reach for your love
Like the moon and the stars
Ever in my sight
I don't think I've ever told you
How much I believe in you
And every time I touch you
This feeling comes through
Oh! the mornings
Oh! the soul love
Can't forget it
How you look when I look at you
I never could be so happy
All over the world with you
So here I go trying to tell you
How much I love you
Don't ever begin to doubt this
No matter how had the breaks
My body 'n' soul forever
Whatever it takes
Oh! so magical
Oh! so mystical
When you're in my arms
Loving me when I'm loving you
I know this love was blessed in heaven
Believe me when I say it's true
No other could begin to give me
What's coming through
I'm wanting to always tell you
How much I believe in you
So if I don't seem to say it. Believe me it's true
Yeah! believe me it's true. Yeah! Yeah!
Believe me it's true
I don't think I've ever told you
How much I believe in you
And every time I touch you
This feeling comes through
Oh! the mornings
Oh! the soul love
Can't forget it
Pre>intro riff (also used with verses):
D#5 a#/d g#/c c#5 (x2)
D#5 a#/d g#/c c#5
We hit the highway in the shimmer glare of summer
D#5 a#/d g#/c c#5
And past the window all the trees flew by behind her
D#5 a#/d g#/c c#5
She tuned the radio 'til music was around us
D#5 a#/d g#/c c#5
A rushing calm around my heart I knew had found us
It feels so good to me
I have to make you see
D#5 a#5 g5 g#5
Why does this ever have to end?
D#5 a#5 g5 g#5
I know commitment is not the trend
D#5 a#5 g5 g#5
Don't misunderstand what I intend
D#5 a#5 g5 g#5
When I say this doesn't have to end
We washed the dishes knowing everything was all right
And there together in the curtain drifting twilight
I know your laughter shouldn't make me feel so scared
How could I doubt you, I know how much you cared
I hear it when you sigh
But I still don't know why
Why does this ever have to end?
Why can't I give you my heart and hand?
I think you're too scared to understand
This doesn't ever have to end . . . go!
Interlude (x2): f#5, g#5, a#5, c#5;
F#5, g#5, a#5, d#5!
Main riff (x2: first with just guitar; second time, w/ bass & drums)
I see you standing by a window in the hall
Our eyes collide without a single word at all
The record asks, "will you still need me when I'm 64? "
I can't imagine that I wouldn't need you more
Too many tears to cry
I just won't let it die
This doesn't ever have to end
Life is so long and my heart won't mend
You are my lover, you're my best friend
But this doesn't ever have to end
we're robbing Peter to pay Paul
miles and miles yet to go
and the pouring rain that hurts me so
I'm tired of the rain and I'm tired of all
all of the sudden out of the rain
you're standing there hitchhiking
when I think about the days
I spent without you babe
I spent without your grace
you got a tape yeah put it on
well if you wanna smoke
I'm sharing this one
and what you read
is exactly what I seek
you've got earlobes in the perfect shape'
dropping down your pure landscape
ever oh for ever
ever I am truly loving you
now Halloween is here today
and in the streets there's party hey
you've got monsters goblins trolls and slaves ghosts and
zombies from their graves
we got such a spooky masquerade
we open the door kids run away
when I think about the days
I spent without you babe
I spent without your grace
ever oh for ever
ever I'm truly loving you yes I do
I see pictures of red splotches and patterns of purple green
sparkles silvery smears and I'm drifting out to be part of
the night and of the day when we talk about elephants
Ever live a life that's real
Full of zest, but no appeal
Ever want to cry so much
You want to die
Ever feel that you've been had
Had so much that you turn mad
Ever been depressed that
(to) those you turn to, you bring distress
Ever sit in tormenting silence
That turns so loud, you start to scream
Ever take control of a dream
And play all the parts and set all the scenes
Ever do nothing and gain nothing from it
Ever feel stupid and then know that you really are
Ever think you're smart and then find out you aren't
Ever play the fool and then find out that you're worse
Ever look at a flower and hate it
Ever see a couple kissing and get sickened by it
Ever wish the human race didn't exist
And then realize you're one too
Well, have you ... ever .. I have
Ever
At least these circles on the water
Know what for I am
Whatever trees will do
Their fate is to drop shadow…
Explain to me what for is Lord and
What for is the devil…
Live every day
As if it's the last day Ever…
Ever… Ever… Ever…
Some might think you're insane
Or maybe even worse.
You'll be repaid
For what it's worth…
For what it's worth.
Take what it takes
Not less nor more
Cause every life wall
Has a secret door.
Explain to me what for is Lord and
What for is the devil…
Live every day
As if it's the last day Ever…
We come back
To death grace marching on
For awhile take my hand
You are, you are
Let us then
The finish time
Bad escape
Everything's over now
But the true
I'm not deface
And to lock
But how do you feel it
Death exit is
For us to fall
Vanishing
Leaving our battles behind a truth
This could be our unseen fright
Take it or leave it
I think...
You are my way, my end
You are my way, my end
You are my way, my end
Did you everget those eyes?
she said
I didn't get up
early
from shaking
unfurl me
as I'm
waking
It's a crime
so, it may seem
that I
can not dream
oh can I
never
sunrise
too early
but it sets
too early to
make any difference
cuz you don't try
or don't I
try too hard
with somber
falsity
far from
boring
and it's the same
every
weekend
minutes
we spend
apart
closing cheated heart
and why do
you persist
to ever
resist
the lack of
resistance
they've stolen
thus broken
your pants
I'm happy
somewhat
temporarily
you just elude
go up
but not
lewd
and on those
birthdays
you shouldn't
ruin
and earthquake's
coming fast
and we are
coming
last
make it
akward
oh it's a crime
overuse
slowly
becoming
unguided refuse
to go
anywhere
I'll refuse
a throw
out of
your hair
I don't know
if that's
right
you may be
crisp and bright
although I
may never know
thanks
to foreign mom
influential
she's lying
he does the same
right over
everywhere's
to blame
come in side
illegal
to be
going
anywhere now
what a
waste
of time and
effort
and lies
what a surprise
you ever
rebel
what cause
underlies
no hatred
you don't know
Don't you ever look at the sky?
Don't you ever wonder why?
I know, I know
I feel it too.
Do you see vast, far and wide?
Please won't you look into my eyes.
I am, I am
Entranced by you.
My heart. My love. My soul. My breath. I'm whole.
Don't be afraid of all that you feel.
I know you can tell it's for real.
The time, the time
is drawing near.
Can I invest deep in your heart?
Can I step back and try to impart?
I think, I think,
I'm falling hard.
I can sense warmth glowing within.
I can see through you toward this therein.
I‘m calm, I'm calm
When I'm with you.
Forever and ever and ever
Do you ever imagine the future?
Our souls merged, our lives as one
A purified hope so radiant yet unknown.
Don't be afraid of all that you feel.
I know you can tell it's for real.
The time, the time.
is drawing near.
Do you see vast, far and wide?
Please won't you look into my eyes.
I am, I am
Entranced by you.
Don't you ever look at the sky?
Don't you ever wonder why?
I know, I know
Wake up in this house alone
Never did that before... from you and all
I hate to think the feeling's gone
Oh, maybe we're just like the sun up that night
At some point it has to go down!
Or maybe we're just like the snow in the winter
Cause surely we'll hit the ground!
Chorus:
Still I, don't know if I ever, ever felt this way before
Don't know if I ever... my heart above the floor
Don't know if I ever come to love you anymore
I didn't think that I ever had to lay down without you!
Ever, ever, ever
I mean ever, ever
Ever, ever, ever
I mean ever, ever
I didn't wanna lay down without you
Wishing a new day will come,
You will cause my heart to break
Shattered pieces everywhere
Hey,... it just won't go away
Maybe we're juts like the sun up that night
At some point it has to go down!
Or maybe we're just like the snow in the winter time
Cause surely we'll hit the ground!
Chorus: (x2)
Still I, don't know if I ever, ever felt this way before
Don't know if I ever... my heart above the floor
Don't know if I ever come to love you anymore
I didn't think that I ever had to lay down without you!
Ever, ever, ever
I mean ever, ever
Ever, ever, ever
I mean ever, ever
