Emma (Line Kruse) is an eleven year-old only child from a wealthy Danish family. Emma's parents seem more interested in their own interests than in her. One evening when Emma overhears her mother talking about how tragic it must be to have your child kidnapped, Emma decides to stage her own kidnapping. She soon meets Malthe, a kind-hearted, child-like, naïve sewer cleaner who literally stumbles on to her. She convinces Malthe that she is a Russian princess whose family is being chased by Bolsheviks, so Malthe lets Emma stay with him in his very modest abode. After being "kidnapped" for a few days, Emma decides to return home. But, just as she is about to return, she overhears a couple of servants talking about how her parents don't seem to be very upset over her dilemma. She then returns to Malthe and a close bond soon develops between Emma and Malthe. Meanwhile, the police are finally called and begin their investigation. Emma writes a ransom note for $2000, and her father pays it. Emma uses the money to buy Malthe some new clothes and to treat him to a "Russian" feast at the Grand Hotel. Just as they are leaving the hotel, the police finally catch up with them. Malthe believes the police want to return Emma to the Bolsheviks so he flees with her into the sewers.

and i can shake but i can't breath
take it away but i want more and more

Elle est douce elle est gentille,
C'est la plus jolie des filles;
Elle adore s'amuser,
Mais elle aime à refuser
Les baisers ...
Elle a pour nom Caroline,
Mais chacun l'appelle Line
Oui mais pour l'apprivoiser,
Il ne faut pas se montrer
Trop pressé,
Car ...
{Refrain:}
A danser.
On lui promet mariage
Mais on n'a pu la griser,
Et nul n'est autorisé
A l'aimer
Car...
{au Refrain}
Pourtant
Un beau jour elle aimera
Un garçon qui comprendra
Le secret de sa tendresse
Pourtant
S'il veut toujours la garder,
S'il veut toujours être aimé,
Qu'il n'oublie jamais que ...
Line a besoin qu'on lui fasse la cour,
Line a besoin que l'on lui parle d'amour,
Line à besoin que l'on lui dise toujours !
Je vous aimerai nuit et jour.
There's a thin white line That we almost crossed Yeah
Did you see the sign? They dont want us there..
And society says they don't want us here
You're oh so quiet They dont want us there Yeah
You just take your time You don't understand
And society says they dont want us here
When you're in the fire You don't know where to stand The world's upset we're in their way
And society says they dont wants us there Yeah!
What's wrong, what's right By those they say
Theres a thin white line, and it's almost dead
Yeah yeah
And society says they dont need us there
Were in the fire don't know where to stand The world's obsessed - we're in their way
You said you love me
Then you shoot me at the back of my head
You said you need me
Then you're pushing me far away
You got me running down the goddamn line again
Last time I said I love you
You left me down in hell
Last time I saw you
You were pretending that I wasn't there
You got me running down the goddamn line again
It must be something that you said
Before you left me last night out there
But now I have to move on
I've got better things to take care
You said you love me
Then you shoot me at the back of my head
You said you need me
Then you're pushing me far away
You got me running down the goddamn line again
It must be something that you said
Before you left me last night out there
But now I have to move on
