A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative set to music. Ballads were particularly characteristic of the popular poetry and song of the British Isles from the later medieval period until the 19th century and used extensively across Europe and later the Americas, Australia and North Africa. Many ballads were written and sold as single sheet broadsides. The form was often used by poets and composers from the 18th century onwards to produce lyrical ballads. In the later 19th century it took on the meaning of a slow form of popular love song and the term is now often used as synonymous with any love song, particularly the pop or rock power ballad.
The ballad probably derives its name from medieval French dance songs or "ballares" (from which we also get ballet), as did the alternative rival form that became the French Ballade. In theme and function they may originate from Scandinavian and Germanic traditions of storytelling that can be seen in poems such as Beowulf. The earliest example we have of a recognisable ballad in form in England is ‘Judas’ in a 13th-century manuscript.
Noel Thomas David Gallagher (born 29 May 1967) is an English musician and singer-songwriter, formerly the lead guitarist, occasional lead singer and principal songwriter of the rock band Oasis. He is currently fronting his solo project, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Raised in Burnage, Manchester with Liam, Noel began learning guitar at the age of thirteen. After a series of odd jobs in construction, he worked for local Manchester band Inspiral Carpets as a roadie and technician in 1988. Whilst touring with them, he learned that Liam had formed a band of his own, known as The Rain, which eventually took on the name Oasis. After Gallagher returned to England, he was invited by his brother to join Oasis as songwriter and guitarist.
Oasis' debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), marked the beginning of the band's rise to fame as head of the Britpop movement. Oasis' second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, reached the top of the album charts in many countries and their third studio album, Be Here Now, became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history. Britpop eventually declined in popularity and Oasis' next two albums failed to revive it. However, the band's final two albums, Don't Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008), were hailed as its best efforts in over a decade and found renewed success. On 28 August 2009, following an altercation with Liam prior to a gig in Paris, Gallagher announced his departure from Oasis and on 23 October 2009, he confirmed he would embark on a solo career.
Seth Bernard Lakeman (born 26 March 1977) is an English folk singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, who is most often associated with the fiddle and tenor guitar, but has also mastered the viola and banjo. Nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, Lakeman has belonged to several musical ensembles, including one with his two brothers, fellow folk musicians Sam Lakeman and Sean Lakeman, but has most recently established himself as a solo headlining act.
Seth Lakeman began playing music with his parents and two brothers Sean and Sam Lakeman at an early age.
As The Lakeman Brothers, the three brothers released their critically acclaimed debut album Three Piece Suite in 1994. Later that same year they were invited by two Yorkshire based singers Kathryn Roberts and Kate Rusby to join them as a backing group on a tour of Portugal. After the tour the five musicians became a permanent group and called themselves Equation. The group swiftly garnered critical praise and were signed in a record deal with Time Warner in 1995. After three full albums (Return to Me in 1996, Hazy Daze in 1998, and The Lucky Few in 2000), and tours in the UK, Europe and the United States, Lakeman left Equation in 2001. He joined his brother Sam and Sam's wife Cara Dillon and appeared on Dillon's acclaimed eponymous debut album, which featured Seth on fiddle, guitar and vocals. The album won two awards at the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Philip David Charles "Phil" Collins, LVO (born 30 January 1951) is an English singer-songwriter, drummer, pianist and actor best known as a drummer and vocalist for British progressive rock group Genesis and as a solo artist.
Collins sang the lead vocals on several chart hits in the United Kingdom and the United States between 1975 and 2010, either as a solo artist or with Genesis. His singles, sometimes dealing with lost love, ranged from the drum-heavy "In the Air Tonight", dance pop of "Sussudio", piano-driven "Against All Odds", to the political statements of "Another Day in Paradise".
Collins's professional music career began as a drummer, originally in a band called The Real Thing with Andrea Bertorelli, who later became his first wife. Collins played drums and shared lead vocals (with Brian Chatton) in Flaming Youth which recorded one album, (Ark II). In 1970, he took over drums for Genesis, which had already recorded two albums. In Genesis, Collins originally supplied backing vocals for front man Peter Gabriel, singing lead on only two songs: "For Absent Friends" from 1971's Nursery Cryme album and "More Fool Me" from Selling England by the Pound, which was released in 1973. Following Gabriel's departure in 1975, Collins became the group's lead singer.

(Girl) Yeah Hahahaha........whooooo,shit
(Eminem) (aight)
(Em) guess what? i ain't coming in yet....
i'll come in a minute
(Em) ayo...this is my love song...it goes like this
Back when Mark Walhberg was Marky Mark
This is how we used to get the party start
We used to mix hen' with bacardi dark
and when it kicks in, you can hardly talk
and by the sixth gin you're probably crawl
and you'll be sick then and probably barf
and my prediction is you're probably fall
either in the lobby or the hallway wall
and everything spinning
you're beginnin' to think like a woman
are swimming in pink linen
again in the sink
then in a couple of minutes that bottle of guinness is finished
you are now allowed to officially slap bitches
you have the right to remain violent and start wilin'
start a fight with the same guy that was smart-eyein' you
get in your car, start it,and start drivin'
over the island and cause a forty-two-car pileup
earth calling pilot to copilot
looking for life on this planet, sir, no sigh of it
all i can see is a bunch of smoke flyin'
and i'm so high that i might dieif go by it
let me out of this place i'm outta place
i'm in outer spacei've just vanished without a trace
i'm going to a pretty place now where the flowers grow
i'll be back in an hour or so
Chorus:
'cause every time i go to try to leave
some geek keeps pullin' on my sleeve
i don't wanna, but i gotta stay
these drugs really got a hold of me
'cause every time i try to tell them "no"
they won't let me ever let them go
i'm a sucka, all i gotta say
these drugs really
got a hold of me
in third grade, all i used to do
was sniff glue through a tube and play rubik's cube
seventeen years later i'm still as rude as jude
scheming on the first chick with the hugest boobs
i've got no game
and every face looks the same
they've got no name
so i don't need game to play
i just say whatever i want to whoever i want
whenever i want, wherever i want, however i want
however, do show some respect to few
this ecstasy's got me standing next to you
getting sentimental as fuck spillin'guts to you
we just met
but i think i'm in love with you
but you're on it too
so you tell me you love me too
wkae up in the morninglike"yo, what the fuck we do?"
i gotta go,bitch
you know i've got stuff to do
'cause if i get caught cheatin',then i'm stuck with you
but in the long run
these drugsare probablygoing to catch upsooner or later
but fuck it, i'm on one
so let's enjoy
let the X destroy your spinal cord
so it's not a straight line no more
till we walk around looking like some windup dolls
shit sticking out of our backs like a dinosaur
shit, six hits won't even get me high no more
so bye for now, i'm going to try to find some more
Chorus
that's the sound of a bottle when it's hollow
when you swallow it all, wallow and drown in your sorrow
and tomorrow you're probably going to want to do it again
what's a little spinal fluid between you and a friend?
screw it
and what's a little bit of alcohol poisoning?
and what's a little fight?
tomorrow you'll be boys again
it's your life live it however you wanna
marijuana is everywhere
where was you brought up?
it don't matter as long as you get where you're going
'cause none of the shit is going to mean shit where we're going
they tell yu to stop, but you just sit there ignoring
even though you wake up feeling like shit every morning
but you're young
you've got a lot of drugs to do
girls to screw
parties to crash
sucks to be you
if i could take it all back now, i wouldn't
i would have did more shit that people said that i shouldn't
but i'm all grown up now and upgraded and graduated
to better drugs and updated
but i've still got a lot of growing u to do
i've still got a whole lot of throwing up to spew
but when it's all said and done i'll be forty
before i know it with a fortyon the porch telling stories
with a bottle of jack
two grandkids on my lap
baby-sitting for hailie while hailie is out smashed
Chorus
drench me in kisses
your breath consumes my pores
leave my heart in one
i swallow sunsets day by day
media makes me ill
previous desires have been slain
cause all i want is you
your presence makes me child-like
my soul's at heaven's gate
my curfew turns to stone
this repetition kills me
oh, please don't scorch my heart
i'm at a loss for words
please let this rose
speak for me
i love you
i need you
i want you
you give me strength to live
i feel like i'm ten feet tall
forget thoughts of closure
an addict for your love
a diamond is forever
as well my love for you
your face invades my dreams
Stronger than reason, stronger than lies
The only truth I know is the look in your eyes
The look in your eyes
Just like a car crash, just like a knife
My favorite weapon is the look in your eyes
You've run out of lies
You've run out of lies, you've run out of lies
You've run out of lies, you've run out of lies
You've run out of lies, you've run out of lies
There's a ton locked in your empty eyes
Get out of my life
I'm chewing on glass and eating my fingers
I'm not the one who's run out of lies, lies
You've run out of lies, you've run out of lies
You've run out of lies, you've run out of lies
You've run out of time
Cutting my face and walking on splinters
I lost my soul to the look in your eyes, your eyes
You've run out of lies, you've run out of lies
You've run out of lies, you've run out of time
Stigmata
O, you have empty eyes
You're trying to put me
And I don't know what to do
You've got a funny way
To show what you feel inside
Please, don't tease me too much
Will you stop making fun of me
Don't forget that I'm a man
And a mo who loves you so much
What have you got to
If you just decide to stay
Please don't go, sit down
And have a thought before
And please have a thought before
A sentimental journey
Yes I think that will be the best
You and me sitting by the sea
We can solve, our problems there
When they look back at us and they write down their history
What will they say about our generation?
We're the ones who knew everything and still we did nothing
Harvested everything, planted nothing.
Well we live pretty well in the wake of the goldrush
Floating in comfort on waves of our apathy
Quietly gnawing away at Her body
Until we mortgage the future, bury our children
Storehouses full with the fruits we've been given
We send off the scrag-ends to suckle the starving
But still we can't feed this strange hunger inside
Greedy, restless and unsatisfied.
I was never much one for the great "Big Bang" theory
Going out in a blaze of suicidal glory
Not foolish and brave, these leaders of ours
Just stupid and petty, unworthy of power;
Just a little leak here and a small error there
Another square mile poisoned forever
A series of sad and pathetic little fizzles
And out go the lights, never to return.
The affair it is over, the passion is dead
She stares at us now with ice in Her eyes
But we turn away from these bitter reproaches
And take up distractions to forget what we're doing
I stand on these hills and I watch Her at night
A thousands square miles, a million orange lights
Wounded and scarred, She lies silent in pain
Raped and betrayed in the cold acid rain
And I wish and I wish
We could start over again
Yes I wish and I wish
We could win back Her love once again
Well he ripped a boge
Right to the end
And he said you listen good my cousin,
Manhattan ain't got nothing on a good friend
So when your fast cash goes
And your bats won't bend
He said you call me up my cousin,
Manhattan ain't got nothing on a good friend
And I thanked him for his great escape
But I think I'm staying here
'Cause there's bills to miss and there's plans to break
And nobody ever would stay awake back home
Well she wrote her name
With a Mont Blanc pen
She said you call me when you need me,
Manhattan gets so rough without a good friend
And the ones who break they don't know to bend
So don't get too confident too quickly,
Manhattan chews you up when you pretend
And I thanked her for her sage advice
But I'm doing okay here
Because all these restaurants are overpriced
They all stay open late at night
And mistakes are nice, they make me feel at home
Well I called my sister in the summer said I'm thinking about moving here
She said do it now before you get a job and get married can't go nowhere
But now I can't go nowhere because there's too many chances here
I must admit I miss my friends but I'm staying here
And I think about them late at night
And I hope that they miss me too
Though I can't escape these amber lights
My cousin had the answer right
It's such a sight, but when times are tight
Pick up the Goddamn phone
I pay to hear you lie
I saw you on T.V.
There's nothing here for me
I'll pay the price
So pick up the Goddamn phone
I'm just a voice you cannot see
But you act as if you know me
You chat away while I bleed
