I was sitting on a wooden stool
In a barbecue joint in Tennessee
When this ole boy walked in
And he sat right down next to me
I could tell he'd been through some hard times
There were tear stains on his old shirt
And he said you wanna know what you get
When you play a country song backwards
You get your house back
You get your dog back
You get your best friend Jackson back
You get your truck back
You get your hair back
Ya get your first and second wives back
Your front porch swing
going ding a ling ling ling
Your bling bling bling and a diamond ring
Your get your farm and the barn and the boat and the Harley
that old black cat named Charlie
Sounds a little crazy, a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get when you play a country song backwards
Well I never heard it said quite like that
but It hit me in the face cause that's where I'm at
I almost fell flat out on the floor
He said wait a minute that's not all theres even more
You get your mind back
you get your nerves back
Your achy breaky heart back
You get your pride back
You get your life back
You get your first real love back
You get your big screen TV, a DVD and a washing machine
You get the pond and the lawn
The bail and the mower
You go back where you don't know her
It sounds a little crazy a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get
When you play a country song backwards
Oh play that song
Woo!!!
We sat there and shot the bull about how it would be
If we could rewind it all and go back in T. I. M. E.
You get your house back
You get your dog back
You get your best friend Jackson back
You get your truck back
You get your hair back
Ya get your first and second wives back
Your front porch swing
Goin ding a ling a ling
Your bling bling bling and a diamond ring
Your get your farm and the barn and the boat and the Harley
that old black cat named Charlie
You get your mind back
you get your nerves back
Your achy breaky heart back
You get your pride back

Your bling, bling, bling and a diamond ring
You get your farm and the barn and the boat and the Harley
First night in jail with Charlie
It sounds a little crazy
A little scattered and absurd
But that?s what you get
When you play a country song backwards

(PIANO & GUITAR INTRO)
well I sleep like a feather
I don't worry 'bout the weather
I take backroads, wherever I go
and I can't take no chances
'cause I sure ain't got no answers
I take the backroads, wherever I go
those four-lane freeways ain't got nothin' for me
just gimme a six pack and a '50 Mercury
and I'll be rollin'
over them backroads of my home
over them backroads of my home
well I don't let things get risky
'cause I might be drinkin' whisky
out on them backroads of my home
you don't see no hitchhikers
ain't no semi-trucks or bikers
out on them backroads of my home
them four-lane freeways ain't got nothin' for me
and that all night rollin' to be where you got to be
it ain't nowhere
gimme them backroads of my home
gimme them backroads of my home
(GUITAR SOLO)
I've been busted for speedin'
I've been busted up and bleedin'
out on them backroads of my home
and you just might see me swimmin'
you might see me chase big women
over them backroads of my home
those four-lane freeways ain't got nothin' for me
just gimme a six pack and a '50 Mercury
and I'll be rollin'
over them backroads of my home
over them backroads of my home
over them backroads of my home
over them backroads of my home
over them backroads of my home
over them backroads of my home

BACKWARDS
I was sittin' on a wooden stool
In a barbecue joint in Tennessee
When this ole boy walked in
And he sat right down next to me
I could tell he'd been through some hard times
There were tear stains on his old shirt
And then he said you wanna know what you get

You get your house back
You get your dog back
You get your best friend Jackson back
You get your truck back
You get your hair back
Ya get your first and second jobs back
Your front porch swing goin' ding-a-ling-a-ling
Your bling bling bling and a diamond ring
Your get your farm and the barn and the boat and the Harley
That old black cat named Charlie
Sounds a little crazy, a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get when you play a country song backwards
Well I never heard it said quite like that
It hit me in the face cause that's where I'm at
I almost fell flat out on the floor
He said wait a minute that's not all there's even more
You get your mind back
Your nerves back
Your Achey Breaky Heart back
You get your pride back
You get your life back
You get your first real love back
You get your big screen TV, DVD and a washing machine
You get the pond and the lawn
The break and the mower
You go back when life was slower
It sounds a little crazy a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get when you play a country song backwards
Oh play that song
Woo!!!
We sat there and talked about how it would be
If we could just rewind it all and go back in T-I-M-E

You get your dog back
You get your best friend Jackson back
You get your truck back
You get your hair back

Your Achey Breaky Heart back
You get your pride back
You get your life back
You get your first real love back
You get your big screen TV, DVD and a washing machine
You get the pond and the lawn
The break and the mower
You go back when life was slower
It sounds a little crazy a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get
There’s no fucking way, I refuse to look back,
when it comes to your dogma we're on the attack,
you’re the millstone tied around our necks,
but we’re bound and gagged - politically correct.
You’re too scared to look inside,
prefer to obey your brainwashed lie,
you’re too scared to self analyse,
believing instead in your diatribe.
No No No No No - we’re trying to move forward,
No No No No No - you’re taking us backwards,
No No No No No - we’re trying to move forward,
No No No No No - we're not going back!
We’re still hacking off heads and dropping bombs,
blinded by faith from the rights and wrongs,
it’s used as a tool manipulation,
CHORUS
I've got the radio blastin'
I've got the windows rolled down
And I'm cruisin' these backroads
on the outskirts of town
I can feel the wind a-blowin'
Hear the big engines whine
When I'm cruisin' these backroads
All my troubles are behind
Well when I woke up this morning
Well I took me a look outside
It was plain to see it was one of those days
tailor-made for taking a ride
So I went downstairs and cleared my head
with coffee and cigarettes
And when it hit me right there
then my mind was set
Well I phoned work and told'em
they're going to be a man short today
I got the sunny day blues, there's only one thing
that's gonna make them go away
So I went out and I climbed in to my big ol' Chevrolet
And with a turn of the key and a cloud of dust
I was on my way
REPEAT CHORUS
Well maybe I did maybe I didn't
Go and lose my job today
But you can take my cares, take my worries
and blow them all away
For there comes a time in any man's life
when he's got to break free
I got four good wheels and an endless road
Stretched out in front of me
REPEAT CHORUS
Backwards from point of destruction
The end is my introduction
Watch it unfold as I transcend
Transcends as I watch it unfold.
Smash head first into on coming traffic
Missed the red light cause' I was driving erratic.
Backwards 100miles an hour down the e-way
Lights blurrin' by me makin' it hard for me to see straight
Eyes all glossy and my brain on tilt,
Got out the car man, fuck a seatbelt
Stumblin, lookin' for my keys to my car.
Mighty mighty drunk now, back at the bar.
Blood all over, now it's seeping back
And the bullet is returning to the gun under my chin
Sirens disappear from the front of my house
Weird 911 asking what the emergency about
I' m goin' crazy insane, tryin to maintain, everything I love is causing me all the pain.
My family's all gone, check the message on the phone.
Turn the lights on, cause' I just got home .
Backwards from point of destruction
The end is my introduction
Watch it unfold as I transcend
Transcends as I watch it unfold.
I kissed her lips, shut her eyes, and stepped away
I grabbed the knife out her throat and hear her say
"She doesn't love me" but she doesn't see the blade that I sunk into her house with through
the window in the rain.
Keeps pouring as I stand on her steps, before I walk up I pause and take a deep breath
Pull up in the drive and shut the lights off
I keep thinkin' man "I can't get caught"
I'm in a frantic-panic
I committed a sin
Shirt soaked in bloody shit down to my skin
Now the deed is done, the hole is sealed tight
This bitches' bones will never again see the light
I remember pickin' up the pole for the bludgeoning
And the mile of following that you might call stalking
It ain't my fault she next to me at the bar
That's the hoe that's been polluting my dreams
Backwards from point of destruction
The end is my introduction
Watch it unfold as I transcend
Transcends as I watch it unfold.
The bullet flew out his neck and up my gun barrel
My finger raised off the trigger, and stayed curled
I lifted up off my back, and now I'm standing
His fist pulled outta' my eye- he's demanding
My jacket and wallet, but I walk in reverse
Backup outta' the alley I shoulda' passed in the first place.
Now time and chance are on my side
The inevitable has been denied.
Backwards from point of destruction
The end is my introduction
Watch it unfold as I transcend
Their heads on backwards
Decisions frozen in vain
The fate grows colder
Illusion of power prevails
No conscience left
They'll die to resurrect their fallen
As long as the faith holds
The outcome will never change
Cut them off from the tubes they feed you
In to keep the worms from crawling out
Faith on concrete
Their meltdown is as predictable
As all these strings they pull
To keep their faith in line
Face down
The mind rips open
You can't go backwards, you must go forward
You have not been what you could be
When you are the only one that enslaves you
Then you're the only one that can set you free
Don't run away, question the answers
Live you life like it's on fire
You're one mistake is to think you've made one
Don't run away
You can't have mountains without the valleys
You can't go high if you won't go deep
You can't do over what you've done already
Expecting something new to see
I will not be bought, not be caged
Won't stay behind my walls where it is safe
No, I'm tired of trying to compensate for you
Broken boys look good sitting on their shoes
Silent waves responds expose to fear
Library cards, rented faces, lying on the naked train
Hard parades with nothing skin
Things that breathe way too thin
They lost their lives in backyards
They lost their lives in backyards
They lost their lives in backyards
They lost their lives in backyards
Elevator, red blue stain, best of things
Half way between things and times, a kill
Library cards, rented faces, lying on the naked train
Highways and major club smell stale, almost eyes, a thousand things
They lost their lives in backyards
They lost their lives in backyards
They lost their lives in backyards
They lost their lives in backyards
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just
It's a hard parade
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
It's a hard parade, just be courageous
Be courageous
Be courageous
Be courageous
Be courageous
Hard parade just, be courageous
Hard parade just, be courageous
It's a hard parade just, be courageous
It's a hard parade just, be courageous
It's a hard parade just, be courageous
I remember that warmth
Which I felt inside
Awaken to a new life
The temple of unborn child
Hollow sounds of world
Like an ancient tales
Were the prophecies
Of great Judgement Day
On that shiny day
The separation came
Like the prophecy
Of my coming End
Acute sharps of the rocks
Which wound my feet
The roots of fear
Have grown into my skin
Sometimes I stop to hide
Underneath the linen of his arms
After that, on sleepless night
I sing sweet lullaby
For my loneliness
I will come back there someday
And the rustle of the lost cities
Will relieve me with its prayer
Mother Earth will cover me
The Nature will destroy the body structures
As lightly as she had built them before
The Act of Destruction
Will redeem the miracle of birth
From the ashes to new creature
We will rise from dead
From the ashes to new creature
We will rise from dead
From the ashes to new creature
Finished looking for the answers
Now I'm looking for the questions
I can look into you mirror and see inside your head
See my reflections and this is what I've bled
I look right into your mirror but I can't see me
Chorus:
Everything's gone backwards
Nothing's what it seems
I awake from my nightmares
Smash the mirror, smash the dreams
Backwards into future
Now you're making up for lost time
I hide under the shadow and try to hide my name
Eyes that will question and this is what I mean
I look back into the mirror
But still don't see me
Chorus (2x)
Smash the mirror, smash the dreams (3x)
Chorus (2x)
Finished looking for the answers
Now I'm looking for the questions
I can look into your mirror and see inside your head
See my reflections and this is what I've bled
I look right into your mirror but I can't see me
[Chorus (x2)]
Everything's gone backwards
Nothing's what it seems
I awake from my nightmares
Smash the mirror, smash the dreams
Backwards into future
Now you're making up for lost time
I hide under the shadow and try to hide my name
Eyes that will question and this is what I mean
I look back into your mirror
But still don't see me
[Chorus (x2)]
Everything's gone backwards
Nothing's what it seems
I awake from my nightmares
Smash the mirror, smash the dreams
[x3]
Smash the mirror
Smash the dreams
[Chorus (x2)]
Everything's gone backwards
Nothing's what it seems
I awake from my nightmares
Smash the mirror, smash the dreams [x3]
Take me backwards, turn me around
I cannot find my balance on the ground
This world is too heavy
For a feather falling quickly
And I wrote your story
But I'm afraid of how it ends
And though my friends are doing well
And I'm still on the mend
I'm going to lay back down
Hope the wind takes me around
I gotta find some courage in this town
'Cause nobody's going to save
Somebody who won't change
I tried to be brave
And nothing's coming easy
And all at once, I feel a little queasy
Oh, but if you lost my remedy
Would you please come and be with me?
It's not like there's much better
But his grasp is as green as mine
I can't say that I'm satisfied 3 thousand miles
From your kiss goodbye
I'm going to lay back down
Hope the wind takes me around
I gotta find some courage in this town
And everybody's afraid
'Cause chances come from change
And everybody's afraid
'Cause chances come from breaking
And chances are you're breaking open
I'm going to lay back down
Hope the wind takes me around
I gotta find some courage in this town
'Cause nobody's going to save
Somebody who won't change
I was sitting on a bar stool
In a barbecue joint in Tennessee

The rake and the mower
You go back when life was slower
It sounds a little crazy a little scattered and absurd
But that's what you get
When you play a country song backwards
i sat down to write a song about me and you
but always on the last line
we wind up sad and blue
i don't like the outcome
so this is what I'll do
i'll write this song backwards
then I don't have to lose
i'll write this song backwards
start where it all went wrong
we end up togather
instead of all alone
when everything was perfect
like it was in the begining
i'll write this song backwards
so it will have a happy ending
now i've come to realize
i can't change the past
but if I do this my way
our love will always last
so I'll just keep on writing
even though it's all pretend
then happy ever after is how this song will end.
i'll write this song backwards
start where it all went wrong
we end up togather
instead of all alone
when everything was perfect
like it was in the begining
i'll write this song backward cause I love happy endings
everything was perfect
like it was in the begining
Ooh Ooh
Where did it come from, I don't dare to ask
In fear of losing it all, and breaking the glass
And retracing my steps through the trail that I left
In fear of forgetting where it started
Forgetting the best
I'm walking backwards through the streets
to the place where we meet
The smiles disappear
And I lose you my dear
I think I'd rather go forwards
Ooh Ooh
I see a box
Of broken things
But it's hidden behind a sepia mist
And I see her crying in her bed
Not the slightest clue of what's up ahead
And Ooh Ooh
Walking backwards through the streets
to the place where we meet
The smiles disappear
And I lose you my dear
I think I'd rather go forwards
Walking backwards through the streets
to the place where we meet
The smiles disappear
And I lose you my dear
I think I'd rather go forwards
And it's alright cause I'm stuck in the middle of the timeline
And you're holding my hand
And it may seem a little strange at first
But we're not going backward anymore
Walking backwards through the streets
to the place where we meet
The smiles disappear
And I lose you my dear
I think I'd rather go forwards
Walking backwards through the streets
to the place where we meet
The smiles disappear
And I lose you my dear
I growed up awful fast
With no one at home
Television friends and remote control
But it's all right
Now I'm not alone
Ginny Mae’s got a car and she loves me true
She pledged to me all her heart
And there’s nothing she won’t do
And I know,
All of the backroads
Fifteen years old
Some say's too young
And I know our folks think
We're both just kids and dumb
But we don't
And true love matters
We don't want to wait
Been kicked out of school
No jobs around here
Ain't nothing to do
And its no joke
If there's no hope
" But it makes me mad," I said
Ain’t got no cash
But Ginny says she’s got a plan
We're just gonna have to take a chance
That' s all
It'll be nice and easy
And then we'll go
And leave by the backroads
She knows a little store
Not too far from here
An old man alone
Ain't nothing to fear
Then we'll go
And leave by the back roads
So Ginny grabbed her daddy's gun
“Just in case" she said
That old man might be crazy
This will scare him half to death
"Don't mean nothing" I said
Let's just go
Two kid's flying fast
down a country road
Well Ginny's waiting by the door
Ready to go
We're a dime away from leaving
But time moves so slow
Headlights in the window
We both looked to see
And that damned old man
Turned and fired
And I heard Ginny scream
Well the last thing I remember
Was hearing Ginny sigh
As I held her close
I felt her breath
On my lips when she died
Why, don't know why
Don't mean nothing
But now I am alone
‘Cept this ride one last time
Down country road
Home, I am going home
I've maintained falling on my face
For my own protection
My mistake was having placed my faith
In the wrong direction
Falling forward works
But only if you learn to fall
Backwards first, I am
I'm falling backwards again
I volunteer to figure this out here
As a way of knowing
Angels came, spread their legs and waved
As a way of showing
I will always ask
If you're always there to have my
Backwards I'm am
I'm falling backwards again
The music on the outside
Removes me from my insight
I have angels and
They're offering their eyes
I'm falling backwards, I am
I'm falling backwards again
The music on the outside
Removes me from my insight
The angels move from my side
And offer me their eyes
