Otakon

Otakon (/ˈoʊtəkɒn/ OH-tə-kon) is an annual three day anime convention held during July/August at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland's Inner Harbor district. The convention focuses on East Asian popular culture (primarily anime, manga, music, and cinema) and its fandom. The name is a portmanteau derived from convention and the Japanese word otaku. Otakon is one of the longest-running Anime conventions in the United States and was previously the 2nd largest North American anime convention, until falling to 5th as of 2015.

Otakon announced that an additional new convention would be created in Las Vegas, Nevada starting in 2014. It was announced at Otakon 2013's closing ceremonies that the convention will be moving to Washington, D.C. and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center starting in 2017 and continuing until at least 2021.

Thanks To

Thanks To is a Korean-language EP by South Korean rock band F.T. Island, released on 23 September, 2013 by FNC Entertainment. Several of the songs were composed by the band members.Memory reached first place on Taiwanese Qmusic Chart, while the EP itself was placed first on the G-MUSIC weekly chart, with a 28,84% share among Asian releases. The band first played the songs from Thanks To during their FTHX concerts in Seoul on 28 and 29 September, drawing an audience of 6,000.

Today, I'll be showing you my Otakon 2016 vlog; I went on Saturday as Juuzou from the auction raid arc in the manga Tokyo Ghoul: Re and as a kawaii x goth kitty on Sunday. Otakon is the biggest anime convention on the east coast, and this was the last one that will be held in Baltimore, Maryland! It'll be in Washington DC next year. ☾PLEASE EXCUSE THE SHAKINESS AND WEIRD LIGHTING IN SOME CLIPS; I tried to do my best with stabilizers without it looking too choppy/looks like it will give you motion sickness. I also tried to color correct most of the clips. Hope it looks alright! ALSO, I filmed the Dealer's Room and Artist's Alley on day 2 because it was really hard to film when I was carrying my prop! (I know I didn't get much footage of me in cosplay, but cons are so overwhelming) ☾I had so much fun thanks to Jenna, Justin, and my MVP parents for coming through and taking us + getting us a hotel. So thankful to be able to go to these cons and see a bunch of people that have the same interest as me! Everyone that took pictures of me or complimented me--in and out of cosplay--were so sweet! From the 2012 Otakon pocket companion: Digital painter TsaoShin (Eric Proctor) will demonstrate how to improve work flow, technique and brush mastery in Adobe Photoshop. This presentation will be in 3 parts. Part one will cover line art based drawings, part two will cover fully rendered digital painting (with influences from traditional mediums), and part three will be a live demo showcasing work flow optimization, brush dynamics and working with a tablet. This panel is for beginner and intermediate artists who have a basic working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. ------- Due to a technical issue, the projector on the right side of the stage didn't work until around 16 minutes into the presentation. ------- Since the questions asked by audience members are inaudible, I've written them here in order of questions asked: 1. What kind of tablet do you use? 2. What is your favorite art program? 3. What brushes do you use for your lineart? 4. Does any of this translate to The GIMP? 5. What do you lose when switching from traditional to digital painting and vice versa? 6. Can you demonstrate how to remove only the white from your lineart again? 7. Can you just delete the white? 8. How long did it take you to redraw the lineart in Photoshop? 9. Can you use these same techniques in Photoshop CS4? 10. What sizes do you generally work in? 11. How do you develop your color method? 12. If you're new going into digital, what is the best way to learn Photoshop? 13. What printer do you use for your prints? 14. Do you ever try to emulate the look of traditional in a digital program like using ink pens? 15. Do you ever use the smudge tool? 16. Do you ever use the smudge tool to smear the paint or create transitions? 17. Are you going to be giving this workshop any other time this convention?
