Alexander Comfort, MB BChir, PhD, DSc (10 February 1920 – 26 March 2000) was a British medical professional, gerontologist, anarchist, pacifist, conscientious objector and writer, best known for The Joy of Sex, which played a part in what is often called the sexual revolution. He was also the author of many other books on a variety of topics.
Comfort was educated at Highgate School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He studied medicine at the University of Cambridge (pre-clinical study leading to a BA, upgraded in 1944 to an MA) and the London Hospital (now known as the Royal London Hospital), qualifying in 1944 with both the Conjoint diplomas of LRCP London, MRCS England and the Cambridge MB BChir degrees.
As a youth, Comfort lost four fingers on his left hand in an explosives accident.
Comfort served as a House Physician at the London Hospital and went on to become a lecturer in physiology at the London Hospital Medical College. In 1945 he obtained the Conjoint Board's Diploma in Child Health, and progressed to a PhD in 1950 and a DSc of University College, London in 1963.

It was founded by David Talbot, who first served as CEO of Salon Media Group from 1995 to 1999, and serves as its current CEO. It focuses on U.S. politics and current affairs, and on reviews and articles about music, books and films.
Salon's headquarters is located west of downtown San Francisco, California. As of November 2010, its editor-in-chief is Kerry Lauerman. His predecessor Joan Walsh stepped down from that position in November 2010 but remained as editor at large.

Cynthia Alexander is a highly respected singer-songwriter and musician in the Philippines. Her music infuses prose-poetry and haunting melodies with indigenous Philippine and Asian rhythms. Known for her uncompromising artistic integrity, she has performed on many international stages including the Rainforest World Music Festival in Malaysia, the Jack Daniel’s World Music Tour in Singapore and the Southeast Asian Night Market Festival in New Zealand. She also played gongs and bass on world tours (India, U.S., Japan, Canada) with Joey Ayala at ang Bagong Lumad.
Cynthia’s solo debut album Insomnia & Other Lullabyes was released in 1997 to much acclaim. She was awarded for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album at the Katha Music Awards in 1998. Her album Rippingyarns (2000) won Album of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Album Design and Producer of the Year (with Maly Andres) at the Katha Music Awards. She was also awarded Best Guitarist and Best Producer (with Angee Rozul) at the NU 107 Rock Awards for her third album, “Comet’s Tail” (2005). In 2009 she released a live album, Walk Down the Road, to commemorate a decade of songwriting.
Alexander Richard "Alex" Pettyfer (born 10 April 1990) is an English actor and model. He appeared in school plays and on television before being cast as Alex Rider, the main character in the 2006 film version of Stormbreaker; Pettyfer was nominated for a Young Artist Award and an Empire Award for his role. He has been seen as a model in several advertising campaigns for Burberry. His next two starring roles were in the 2011 films I Am Number Four, a science fiction action adventure, and Beastly, a modernised retelling of Beauty and the Beast. His latest film to date was In Time, a 2011 anti-aging science fiction action-thriller, in which he played a bandit named Fortis.
Pettyfer was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, the son of Lee Ireland (born Lee Robinson), an interior decorator, and Richard Pettyfer, an actor. He has a younger half-brother, James Ireland, a junior tennis player, from his mother's re-marriage to Michael Ireland, a property developer.
Pettyfer was brought up in Windsor, and began his career as a child fashion model at the age of seven, for Gap, after meeting Ralph Lauren in a toy store in New York. He also did advertisements for some yogurt brands. His first commercial was at age six.
