The Bay of Campeche (Spanish: Golfo de Campeche) (sometimes confused with Bahía de Campeche[citation needed]) is the southern bight of the Gulf of Mexico. It is surrounded on three sides by the Mexican states of Campeche, Tabasco and Veracruz. It was named by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba and Antonio de Alaminos during their expedition in 1517.
The Cantarell Complex of five oil fields lies beneath the Bay of Campeche. It is the second most productive oil field in the world, supplying about two thirds of Mexico's crude oil output. On June 3, 1979, Ixtoc I, an exploratory oil well located in the bay, suffered a blowout that caused a catastrophic explosion, resulting in what has been ranked as the third largest unintentional oil spill in history. The area of the bay is 6,000 square miles (16,000 km2) and maximum depth of the bay is approximately 180 feet (55 m).
During the months of June and July, the Bay of Campeche is considered one of the "hot" breeding spots for Atlantic hurricanes. The bay is also considered the eastern border on the main migration routes for birds in the Americas.

Campeche (Spanish pronunciation: [kamˈpetʃe]), officially Free and Sovereign State of Campeche (Spanish: Estado Libre y Soberano de Campeche), is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. Located in Southeast Mexico, it is bordered by the states of Yucatán to the north east, Quintana Roo to the east, and Tabasco to the south west. To the south it is bordered by the Petén department of Guatemala, to the east by Belize and to the west by the Gulf of Mexico. The state capital, also called Campeche, was declared a World Heritage Site in 1997. The formation of the state began with the city, which was founded in 1540 as the Spanish began the conquest of the Yucatán Peninsula. During the colonial period, the city was a rich and important port, but declined after Mexico’s Independence. Campeche was part of the province of Yucatán but split off in the mid 19th century, mostly due to political friction with city of Mérida. Today, much of the state’s economic comeback is due to the finding of petroleum offshore in the 1970s, which has made the coastal cities of Campeche and Ciudad del Carmen important economic centers. The state has important Mayan and colonial sites but they are not as well known or visited as others in the Yucatán.

the gray/blk circle i drew as it seems something is causing the lower clouds to head more westward and the rest might follow. 4 days on WxU i posted a chance for 2 TS 80% here is the 2nd chance (1st off Florida's Eastern coast). i posted there might be 2 as in reading a "model" forecast on Wxu posted by another member showing a mammoth Hurr. on the Pacific side of lower Mexico, i figured if it busts its out flow goes into GOMx, plus other educated guessing using my Galacsics knowledge.

BIG FACTOR will be if a Blocking High sets up over the NE/North Atlantic in the extended forecast. The effect would be to keep everything below and moving to the West in a natural flow. We will be adding some images to this post on our website but wanted to get our video up ASAP to get the word out. Please check back for updates throughout the day as we look more into the upcoming surf forecast. As of right now small bump coming SE U.S. Coast this weekend. Standout locations to chest high.

Best Beaches of Florianopolis:
Campeche Beach - One of the widest and longest stretching beaches in Florianopolis.
Joaquina Beach - Famous for its big sand dunes and surfing breaks, Joaquina has long been the most popular beach in Floripa.
Mole Beach - In recent years, Mole beach is taking over Joaquina's thrown as the ultimate hot spot for the young, cool crowd. Come here to surf or hangout and stay for the beautiful women of Floripa!
Jureré / Jureré Internacional - This part of the island is dedicated to the rich and famous. Huge homes, beautiful beach and lots of money to go around. There is also a really cool fort close to Jureré Internacional that you should check out while you're in the area.
Santinho Beach - Off the beaten path and a little bit of a task getting there, Santinho is a great spot to escape the crowds. Although there's a big resort on one end of the beach, if you time it right you'll have more than enough space to enjoy the beauty of rolling green hills crashing down into the ocean.
Lagoinha do Leste - Absolute paradise. As you saw from the video, it takes a little while to get there, but that makes it all the better. Come during high season and you'll have to share the space with surfers... a small price to pay for perfection.

Santinho Beach - Off the beaten path and a little bit of a task getting there, Santinho is a great spot to escape the crowds.
