Year 500 (D) was a leap year starting on Saturday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Patricius and Hypatius (or, less frequently, year 1253 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 500 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.
The Proclaimers are a Scottish band composed of identical twin brothers, Charlie and Craig Reid. They are probably best known for the songs "Letter from America", "I'm On My Way" and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". The band tours extensively throughout Europe and other continents. They have released nine studio albums from 1987 until the present, as well as two compilation albums and a DVD.
In 2011, the band scored history in Scotland when two of their tracks, "Sunshine on Leith" and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" were featured on Scotland's Greatest Album (2011).
Craig Reid and Charlie Reid were born in Leith in 1962, and grew up in Edinburgh, Cornwall and Auchtermuchty. When they stayed in Auchtermuchty they attended Bell Baxter High School. After several punk rock bands at school they formed The Proclaimers in 1983.
The pair came to public attention when an Inverness based fan sent their demo to the British band The Housemartins, who were impressed enough to invite The Proclaimers on their 1986 UK tour. The exposure of the tour won them a January 1987 appearance on the British pop music television programme The Tube on Channel Four; "Letter from America" peaked at number 3 in the UK Singles Chart, whilst the album This is the Story went gold. The follow-up album Sunshine on Leith featured "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" and "I'm On My Way". They had a hit with their EP King of the Road, which reached number 9 in UK in 1990.
Joaquín Ramón Martínez Sabina (Úbeda, Jaén, Spain, 12 February 1949), known artistically as Joaquín Sabina, is a singer, songwriter, and poet. He has released fourteen studio albums, two live albums, and three compilation albums. He has collaborated and composed songs for Ana Belén, Olga Román and Miguel Ríos amongst others.
He performed both solo and with a group for his live albums, performing with Javier Krahe and Alberto Pérez in La mandrágora, the group Viceversa in a 1986 concert, and with Joan Manuel Serrat in "Dos pájaros de un tiro" (Two birds with one stone).
Sabina suffered a stroke in 2001 and although he physically recovered, he entered a deep depression which resulted in a four-year-long concert hiatus. He recovered and released his eighteenth album, Alivio de Luto, in November 2005. He released his latest album, Vinagre y rosas, in 2009.
Joaquín Sabina, is the second son of Adela Sabina del Campo and Jerónimo Martinez Gallego. His father was a policeman. Dennis Coles (born May 9, 1970), better known by his stage name Ghostface Killah, and formerly Little Jimmy Ice, is an American rapper and prominent member of the Wu-Tang Clan. After the group achieved breakthrough success in the aftermath of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the members went on to pursue solo careers to varying levels of success. Ghostface Killah debuted his solo-career with Ironman in 1996, which was well received by music critics. He has continued his success over the following years with critically acclaimed albums such as Supreme Clientele (2000) and Fishscale (2006). His stage name was taken from one of the characters in the 1979 kung fu film Mystery of Chessboxing.
Ghostface Killah is critically acclaimed for his loud, fast-paced flow, and his emotional stream-of-consciousness narratives containing cryptic slang and non-sequiturs. In 2006, MTV included him on their honorable mention list of The Greatest MCs of All Time, while the editors of About.com placed him on their list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007), praising him as "one of the most imaginative storytellers of our time." Ghostface's storytelling abilities have widely been praised, with Q magazine calling him "rap's finest storyteller."
Shake, baby, shake
You know I can fit you in my arms
Brake, baby, brake
Taking me in with all your charms
I've never been inside you but you're so alluring
They call you "little mouse" by name in Rome and Turin
Looking now at your famous shape
They don't make them like you anymore
Shake, baby, shake
You know I can fit you in my arms
Brake, baby, brake
Taking me in with all your charms
When things are looking good there's always complications
I can't be with you so I'm at the railway station
Let's run away and be so alive
Escape the drudgery of this nine to five
Shake, baby, shake
You know I can fit you in my arms
Brake, baby, brake
Taking me in with all your charms
Shake, baby, shake
You know I worship from afar
Brake, baby, brake
How I wish you were my car
Shake, baby, shake
You know I can fit you in my arms
Brake, baby, brake
Taking me in with all your charms
Shake, baby, shake
Shake, baby, shake
Shake, baby, shake
Shake, baby, shake
500 thousand dollars
For your stardust
500 'cos you get what you deserve
500 'cos you've held it back since august
500 boy you sure have got some nerve
500 thousand dollars
For your stardust
500 'cos you get what you deserve
500 'cos you've held it back since august
500 boy you sure have got some nerve
You've been on my mind
Suddenly gone blind
You've been on my mind
600 for a letter from your fan club
600 though you probably want more
600 cos' you've kept it in your bathtub
600 boy I've heard it all before
You've been on my mind
Scratching at your door
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind
You know I have been sweet on you forever
That's why I have been
Stealing all your stuff
Buy 500 thousand worth of clever
And you'll see that I can't ever get enough
Buy 500 roses and a shotgun
I'm sure you'll find it difficult to choose
Sometimes I hear you'll even
Get a refund
In that way it is impossible to loose
You've been on my mind
Suddenly gone blind
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind
Suddenly gone blind
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind
