The blood of the Soviet people and the cold of the Russian winter have stalled the German assault on Moscow. Now, the Red Army must prepare a counter-attack, to ensure the Wehrmacht is deprived of its prize. Company of Heroes gives players an interactive history lesson by allowing them to oversee some of the era's most devastating battles. Rather than continuing on the Western Front, the sequel depicts the brutal battles of the Eastern Front under Stalin's Red Army. Beginning in the Spring of 1941, Company of Heroes 2 sees the Red Army rising up against the forces of the German army. With Hitler putting Operation Barbarossa into effect, over four million German soldiers were sent to invade the Soviet Union and march into the USSR. While the first few months of the operation saw German forces pushing through Russia, they soon found not only up against Stalin’s considerable army, but also the inhospitable conditions of the Russian Winter. By 1942 Hitler’s forces had pushed through to Stalingrad, but the Soviet army were well prepared. It’s this crucial battle which begins the explosive campaign of Company of Heroes 2. Whilst the Russian armies were able to defend Stalingrad during Operation Barbarossa, the Soviet Red Army was still subject to casualties during the first few months of the invasion. Along with the might of the German army, Joseph Stalin’s fierce regime led to thousands of underprepared armies being forced into battle, whilst soldiers were prevented from retreating by punishment of death. As the German forces pushed throughout the USSR, many of Stalin’s forces were simply unprepared to stand up against the might of the German army. However, as the battles of Operation Barbarossa raged on, the increased industrial power of Stalin’s armies allowed the troops to build their powers to a considerable strength. Controlling the varies units of the Red Army within Company of Heroes 2, you’ll experience different units of troops armed with authentic weaponry – from lethal Flamethrowers to destructive T34 Tanks. Company of Heroes 2 is a real-time strategy video game developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sega for the Microsoft Windows platform. It is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2006 game Company of Heroes. As with the original Company of Heroes, the game is set in World War II but with the focus on the Eastern Front, with players primarily controlling the side of the Soviet Red Army during various stages of the Eastern Front, from Operation Barbarossa to the Battle of Berlin. Company of Heroes 2 runs on Relic Entertainment's proprietary Essence 3.0 game engine In January 2013, Sega acquired Relic Entertainment and along with it the Company of Heroes intellectual property from THQ.
