The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) 2011 Awarding Ceremonies
President Benigno S. Aquino III led the awarding of trophies and medals to the honorees of the outstanding young men in Malacanang.
President Aquino conferred the awards to the seven winners of the 2011 The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) namely Ma. Antonia G. Arroyo for Biotechnology Advocacy; Raul S. Destura for Medical Science, Sherwin T. Gatchalian for Pulic Service; Paulino Salvador C. Leachon for Government and Public Service; Gerard I. Salonga for Arts/Music; Edgar J. Sia II for Business Entrepreneurship and Antonio L. Tiu for Agri Business.
In his speech, the President said that the youth has the potential to be catalysts for change, and that the awardees are living symbols of the energy, excellence, and dedication that the Filipinos are capable. He said that he hopes that the awardees will help restore the confidence not just in individuals but to the people adding that as new generation leaders, they shoulder the hopes of our countrymen. President Aquino also asked the people to join him in the ambitious effort to transform the country to one that we can be truly proud of; to be trustworthy, responsible and to continue to take part in the collective responsibilities as one Filipino people.
TOYM is one of the country's most prestigious awards honoring young leaders who have shown considerable and tangible results in the pursuit of excellence while giving selfless service to the community.
TOYM has 17 years is producer, hopes to be an inspiration to someone... we believe will fulfill that goal.

The honorees were chosen through their dedication and outstanding contributions in their field of work. The Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines (TOYM Philippines) Award is the most prestigious recognition for young male and female Filipinos aged 18 to 40 years old. Now on its 55th year, it is an annual project of Junior Chamber International Philippines (formerly known as Phillippine Jaycees). The mission of JCI is "to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change".
This year's TOYM continues the search and carries the theme "Inspiring A Nation of Heroes". So nominate your young heroes today! We continue to look for young men and women who best share the tenets of the JCI Creed "service to humanity is the best work of life". Deadline for submission of entries is October 18, 2013.

Destura for Medical Science, Sherwin T. Gatchalian for Pulic Service; Paulino Salvador C. Leachon for Government and Public Service; Gerard I. Salonga for Arts/Music; Edgar J. Sia II for Business Entrepreneurship and Antonio L. Tiu for Agri Business.
In his speech, the President said that the youth has the potential to be catalysts for change, and that the awardees are living symbols of the energy, excellence, and dedication that the Filipinos are capable. He said that he hopes that the awardees will help restore the confidence not just in individuals but to the people adding that as new generation leaders, they shoulder the hopes of our countrymen. President Aquino also asked the people to join him in the ambitious effort to transform the country to one that we can be truly proud of; to be trustworthy, responsible and to continue to take part in the collective responsibilities as one Filipino people.

The Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines (TOYM Philippines) Award is the most prestigious recognition for young male and female Filipinos aged 18 to 40 years old. Now on its 55th year, it is an annual project of Junior Chamber International Philippines (formerly known as Phillippine Jaycees). The mission of JCI is "to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change".
This year's TOYM continues the search and carries the theme "Inspiring A Nation of Heroes". So nominate your young heroes today! The exhibit dubbed "Grounded" is a literal and metaphorical take on the notitons of rootedness, engagement and mobility in scapes and interventions within and without these referenced sites.
This broadly interpreted theme is paralleled in the diversity of practices revealed alongside pieces from the collection of the Lopez Museum and Library. From Alma Quinto's research-propelled work with Pasig River Warriors to Eric Zamuco's allusive staging of seeming precariousness; from Goldie Poblador's touch-baiting hybrid of art and laboratory artifice to Barbara Hlali's painful depiction of bodily engagement; from Ahmed Al Shaer's comital take on natural selection to Toym Imao's cross-referencing folk and diasporic armature; ferom Kahed Hafez's tri-image ode to a stalled revolution to Josephine Turalba's dis-charged footwear bidding a traipse through a once private memory trove, Grounded is a posed exercise, of looking back and hopefully trudging forward despite the odds.
Grounded will run until August 3, 2013. Lopez Museum and Library is at the G/F Benpres Bldg., Meralco cor. Exchange Rd., Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Museum hours are 8-5pm Mondays through Saturdays except holidays.

The exhibit dubbed "Grounded" is a literal and metaphorical take on the notitons of rootedness, engagement and mobility in scapes and interventions within and without these referenced sites.
This broadly interpreted theme is paralleled in the diversity of practices revealed alongside pieces from the collection of the Lopez Museum and Library. From Alma Quinto's research-propelled work with Pasig River Warriors to Eric Zamuco's allusive staging of seeming precariousness; from Goldie Poblador's touch-baiting hybrid of art and laboratory artifice to Barbara Hlali's painful depiction of bodily engagement; from Ahmed Al Shaer's comital take on natural selection to Toym Imao's cross-referencing folk and diasporic armature; ferom Kahed Hafez's tri-image ode to a stalled revolution to Josephine Turalba's dis-charged footwear bidding a traipse through a once private memory trove, Grounded is a posed exercise, of looking back and hopefully trudging forward despite the odds.
Grounded will run until August 3, 2013. Lopez Museum and Library is at the G/F Benpres Bldg., Meralco cor. Exchange Rd., Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Museum hours are 8-5pm Mondays through Saturdays except holidays.

President Benigno S. Aquino III challenged the 2012 awardees of The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) to do more for the country and to continue being creative, excellent, and relevant during the awarding ceremony in Malacañan Palace.
"You are inspirations to our countrymen, and your continued pursuit of excellence will tell our people that the fight to bring this country to prominence continues," the President said.
Among the awardees are Rep. Emmeline Aglipay for Public Service, Waren Baticados for Veterinary Medicine, Emelio "Chieffy" Caligdong for Sports, Abelardo Apollo David Jr. for Community Occupational Rehabilitation, Ivan Anthony Henares for Heritage Conservation, Rodrigo "Jiggy" Manicad Jr. for Broadcast Journalism and Allan "Apl.de.ap." Pineda Jr. for Contemporary Music.
He told the recipients that after receiving the TOYM award, they are no longer mere private persons but are also symbols that represent important Filipino characteristics and values.
"Beginning today, you are no longer merely private individuals but symbols -- symbols that clearly show our countrymen and the rest of the world that the Filipino is world class, and that, no matter how successful he or she becomes, the Filipino never loses the spirit of bayanihan, and always comes back to help his fellowmen," he stated.
TOYM is an annual project of JCI Philippines (Philippine Jaycees) which aims to recognize exemplary men and women who selflessly dedicate their lives in their respective field of expertise.
