Andrea True (July 26, 1943 – November 7, 2011) was an American adult film star and singer from the disco era. In addition to her given name, she had multiple stage names, including Inger Kissin, Singe Low, Sandra Lips,Andrea Travis, and Catherine Warren.
She is best known for the disco tune "More, More, More", released in 1976, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and reached No. 5 in the UK Singles Chart in 1976.
Andrea Marie Truden was born in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. She attended Saint Cecilia Academy, an all-girl Catholic school in Nashville.
True moved to New York City as a teenager, to seek fame as a mainstream film star. While she did manage to get some minor roles in mainstream movies from time to time, including The Way We Were, the fame she sought was fleeting. When some friends asked her to join them in a pornographic movie, she went along with the idea, initially thinking of this opportunity as the best way for her to gain more experience with films and acting. She performed in pornographic films in Scandinavia in the 1960s, and by the end of the decade, began appearing in American adult films. Eventually, she appeared in more than 60 hardcore porn films throughout the 1970s and early to mid-1980s, and distinguished herself as one of the more recognizable porn stars in the early New York adult film industry.
True may refer to:
Bruce Howard Kulick (born December 12, 1953 in New York) is an American guitarist, musician and a member of the band Grand Funk Railroad. Previously, Kulick had been a longtime member of the band Kiss.
Kulick is also known for being a former member of the band Blackjack with Michael Bolton, and also played on several Michael Bolton solo albums. (Bolton later co-wrote the Kiss song "Forever", from Hot in the Shade).
Kulick is best known as lead guitarist for the rock band Kiss from September 1984 to August 1996. Kulick never wore Kiss' face paint on stage, which they removed in 1983. Kulick was the first member of Kiss to be billed under his actual birth name, and to date, along with Tommy Thayer, is one of only two members to ever do so. All other past and present members have been billed under stage names, legally-changed names, nicknames or modified names.
Originally brought in as a touring member after guitarist Mark St. John was diagnosed with Reiter's Syndrome, Kulick played on 5 Kiss studio albums: Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade, Revenge and Carnival of Souls: The Final Sessions; he also appeared on Alive III and Kiss Unplugged. The song "I Walk Alone" from Carnival of Souls: The Final Sessions is the only Kiss track to feature Kulick as lead vocalist. To this day Kulick is featured on over 20 Kiss releases.
Jamie Gillis (born James Ira Gurman; April 20, 1943 – February 19, 2010) was an American pornographic actor, director and member of the AVN Hall of Fame.
Gillis was born in New York City into a Jewish family and graduated from Columbia University. He appeared in more than 470 movies as an actor." He also directed several adult movies. Openly bisexual, he appeared in many gay porn films, including a sex scene with another actor in the 1975 bisexual film The Story Of Joanna. Gillis also appeared in a mainstream Hollywood film, Nighthawks (1981) starring Sylvester Stallone in which he played Lindsay Wagner's boss.
He is a pioneer in the pornographic style known as Gonzo. In addition to starring in the first Buttman film, he also created the influential On The Prowl series. Featuring a porn star who rides in a limo looking for regular guys to have sex with, the video series was very popular and inspired a scene in the movie Boogie Nights. He also co-produced the popular Dirty Debutante series with fellow director and performer Ed Powers, as well as the Walking Toilet Bowl series of films that focused on golden showers and coprophilia.
Shelagh Delaney FRSL (pronounced /ˈʃiːlə dɛˈleɪniː/; 25 November 1938 – 20 November 2011) was an English dramatist and screenwriter, best known for her debut work, A Taste of Honey (1958).
Born in Broughton, Salford, Lancashire, the daughter of a bus inspector, Of Irish descent, she failed the eleven plus exam four times, but transferred to a grammar school at the age of fifteen from a secondary modern school, gaining five O-levels.
Thinking she could do better than Terence Rattigan's Variations on a Theme, a play she had seen at Manchester's Opera House during its pre–West End tour, Delaney wrote her first play, in ten days, partly because she felt the work showed "insensitivity in the way Rattigan portrayed homosexuals". Her play was accepted by Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop. "Quite apart from its meaty content, we believe we have found a real dramatist", Gerry Raffles of Theatre Workshop said at the time.
A Taste of Honey, first performed on 27 May 1958, is set in her native Salford."I had strong ideas about what I wanted to see in the theatre. We used to object to plays where the factory workers came cap in hand and call the boss 'sir'. Usually North Country people are shown as gormless, whereas in actual fact, they are very alive and cynical."
