Gross domestic product (GDP) refers to the market value of all officially recognized final goods and services produced within a country in a given period. GDP per capita is often considered an indicator of a country's standard of living; GDP per capita is not a measure of personal income. See Standard of living and GDP. Under economic theory, GDP per capita exactly equals the gross domestic income (GDI) per capita. See Gross domestic income.
It is not to be confused with Gross National Product (GNP) which allocates production based on ownership. Gross domestic product is related to national accounts, a subject in macroeconomics.
GDP was first developed by Simon Kuznets for a US Congress report in 1934, who immediately said not to use it as a measure for welfare (see below under limitations). After the Bretton Woods conference in 1944, GDP became the main tool for measuring the country's economy.
G.D.P can be determined in three ways, all of which should, in principle, give the same result. They are the product (or output) approach, the income approach, and the expenditure approach.

消費税増税の大きな判断材料とされる数値が１７日に発表された。７月から９月のＧＤＰ（＝国内総生産）の成長率は、事前の予測を大きく下回り、年率で－１．６％となった。 今年７月から９月のＧＤＰ成長率は、物価の変動を除いた実質で、前期比で－０．４％、この成長が１年続いた場合の年率にすると１．６％のマイナスだった。 公益社団法人がまとめたエコノミスト４２人による事前の予測は平均で２．４７％のプラスだったが、発表された数値は２期連続のマイナスと予想外に悪い数字となった。 その大きな要因は、個人消費が前期比＋０．４％と伸び悩んだこと。自動車、家電製品に加え、外食やレジャーもマイナスとなり、夏場の天候要因もあったとはいえ、消費が戻っていない現状が浮き彫りとなった。 さらに、企業の設備投資が－０．２％と２期連続のマイナスだったことも追い打ちをかける形で、想定外の結果になった。 甘利経済財政相「一番大きい要因は消費。プラスだったが、民間予測の半分であった」 景気の先行きについては、賃金や企業の利益が上がっているため大きな心配はないと予測する市場関係者がいる一方、今回の結果について「消費増税してもそれに見合う経済の体力がなかった」と政府の政策に批判の声も聞かれる。今後、アベノミクスへの評価も問われることになりそうだ。 ----------------------- ゲスト：森永卓郎 パーソナリティー：大竹まこと・阿川佐和子・太田英明 大竹まこと ゴールデンラジオ！： -

消費税増税の大きな判断材料とされる数値が１７日に発表された。７月から９月のＧＤＰ（＝国内総生産）の成長率は、事前の予測を大きく下回り、年率で－１．６％となった。
今年７月から９月のＧＤＰ成長率は、物価の変動を除いた実質で、前期比で－０．４％、この成長が１年続いた場合の年率にすると１．６％のマイナスだった。
公益社団法人がまとめたエコノミスト４２人による事前の予測は平均で２．４７％のプラスだったが、発表された数値は２期連続のマイナスと予想外に悪い数字となった。
その大きな要因は、個人消費が前期比＋０．４％と伸び悩んだこと。自動車、家電製品に加え、外食やレジャーもマイナスとなり、夏場の天候要因もあったとはいえ、消費が戻っていない現状が浮き彫りとなった。
さらに、企業の設備投資が－０．２％と２期連続のマイナスだったことも追い打ちをかける形で、想定外の結果になった。
甘利経済財政相「一番大きい要因は消費。プラスだったが、民間予測の半分であった」
景気の先行きについては、賃金や企業の利益が上がっているため大きな心配はないと予測する市場関係者がいる一方、今回の結果について「消費増税してもそれに見合う経済の体力がなかった」と政府の政策に批判の声も聞かれる。今後、アベノミクスへの評価も問われることになりそうだ。
