The People, also known for a while as the Sunday People, is a British tabloid Sunday-only newspaper. The paper was founded on 16 October 1881.
It is published by the Trinity Mirror Group. In July 2011 it had an average daily circulation of 806,544.
"Pumped Up Kicks" is a song by American indie pop band Foster the People. It was released as the group's debut single in September 2010, and the following year was included on their EP Foster the People and their debut album Torches. "Pumped Up Kicks" became the group's breakthrough hit and was one of the most popular songs of 2011. The song was written and recorded by frontman Mark Foster while he was working as a commercial jingle writer. Contrasting with the upbeat musical composition, the lyrics describe the homicidal thoughts of a troubled youth.
The track received considerable attention after it was posted online in 2010 as a free download, and it helped the group garner a multi-album record deal with Columbia Records imprint Startime International before they had issued a commercial release. The song became both a crossover hit and a sleeper hit in 2011, as it received significant airplay on modern rock and contemporary hit radio stations. The song spent eight consecutive weeks at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, making it the first Billboard Alternative Songs number-one single to crack the U.S. top 5 since Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" in 2009. The song was widely praised by critics, and it has been licensed for use in a wide range of popular media since its release. "Pumped Up Kicks" received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English musician and singer-songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as one of the founder members of The Beatles, one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. Together with Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved as a teenager in the skiffle craze; his first band, The Quarrymen, evolved into The Beatles in 1960. As the group disintegrated towards the end of the decade, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to devote time to raising his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.
The Oppressed is a Welsh anti-fascist Oi! band that formed in 1981 in Cardiff. Most of the musicians in the band's various lineups were skinheads. Throughout the band's career, the members (especially vocalist Roddy Moreno) openly expressed opposition to racism and fascism — in their lyrics, interviews, on-stage comments and other actions. In 1989, Moreno visited New York City and met a few members of Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice (SHARP). On his return to the United Kingdom, he started promoting SHARP ideals to British skinheads. The band has also had ties to other anti-racist groups, such as Anti-Fascist Action. Moreno is a Cardiff City F.C. supporter, and some of the band's songs express that support.
The band has split and re-formed several times. Their more recent split was in 2006, but they re-formed in 2009, and continue performing today. Roddy Moreno - Vocals / Guitar. Dom Moreno - Bass. Steve Floyd - Guitar. Tony Kizmus - Drums.
The People vs. Larry Flynt is a 1996 American biographical drama film directed by Miloš Forman about the rise of pornographic magazine publisher and editor Larry Flynt, and his subsequent clash with the law. The film stars Woody Harrelson, Courtney Love, and Edward Norton.
The film was written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. It spans about 25 years of Flynt's life from his impoverished upbringing in Kentucky to his court battle with Reverend Jerry Falwell, and is based in part on the U.S. Supreme Court case Hustler Magazine v. Falwell. The film grossed just over $20.3 million domestically with a budget of $35 million.
The film opens with a 10-year-old Larry Flynt (Cody Block) in 1953, as selling moonshine in an Appalachian region of Kentucky. The narrative then advances 20 years. Flynt (Woody Harrelson) and his younger brother, Jimmy (played by Brett Harrelson, Woody's younger brother) run a Hustler Go-Go club in Cincinnati. With profits down, Flynt decides to publish a "newsletter" for the club - the first Hustler magazine, full of nude pictures of women working at the club, in the hopes of attracting customers. The newsletter soon becomes a full-fledged magazine, but sales are weak. It's only after Hustler publishes nude pictures of former first lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis that sales take off, partially due to all the publicity surrounding the photos.

People count on "nothing isn't worth it"
Enslave your bodies for money to buy freedom
The people are angry with you and each other
I will remember when you said you'd save me
You disappoint your fathers and your mothers
With your faith not lasting I wonder what you'll wonder
And soon you'll sing badabadabadada
And soon you'll sing badabadabadada
The people are angry with you and each other
But I will remember when you said you'd save me
Badabadabadada
Not looking for a reason, not trying to understand
Not trying to catch your eye, not trying to touch your hand
Not trying to show you part of me no one else can find
But I will bring a song to you, who will buy my time?
Not looking for a reason, not trying to understand
Not trying to catch your eye, not trying to touch your hand
Not trying to show you part of me no one else can find
But I will bring a song to you, who will buy my time?
The people get philosophical and say there is no future
I am trying to tear myself away from your eye
The people get philosophical and say there is no future
Nothing is as blinding as your eye
Not watching the seasons, watching days flow by
No quenchless autumn breezes, late tomorrow skies
Are you frightened by the moment? i softly lie
Where i thought i would always be, i let myself get by
The people get philosophical and say there is no future
I am trying to tear myself away from your eye
The people get philosophical and say there is no future
Nothing is as blinding as your eye
The people
Get by
Not looking for an ending to make the pieces fit
Need is always pending on how much you can get
How much you can get
(Ooh, oh... aah)
The people get philosophical and say there is no future
I am trying to tear myself away from your eye
The people get philosophical and say there is no future
Nothing is as blinding as your eye
The people
Get by
Louder, louder, louder, louder, louder, louder
louder, louder, Yeah
Yeah, it's for the People
This is street ra-dio, for unsung heroes
Ridin in they regal, tryin to stay legal
My daughter found Nemo, I found the new primo
Yeah you know how we do, we do it for the people
And the struggles of the brothas and the folks
With lovers under dope, experiment to discover hopes
Scuffle for notes, the rougher I wrote, times were harder
Went from rocky starter to a voice of a martyr
Why white folks focus on dogs and yoga
While people on the low end tryin to ball and get over
Lyrics are like liquor for the fallen soldiers
From the bounce to the ounce, its all our culture
Everyday we hustlin, tryna get them custom rims
Law we ain't trustin them, thick broads we lust in them
Sick and tired of bunchin it, I look on the bus at them
When I see them struggling, I think how I'm touchin them
The People
The day, has come
Now we, are one
Just take, your time
And then, you'll find
This is street ra-dio, for unsung heroes
Ridin in they regal, tryin to stay legal
My daughter found Nemo, I found the new primo
Yeah you know how we do, we do it for the people
The people said that I was sharp on TV
At the Grammy's, though they tried to India.Arie me
Got back stage, and I bumped into Stevie
He said no matter what, the people gone see me
Can't leave rap alone the streets need me
Hunger in they eyes, is what seems to feed me
Inside peace mixed with beast seem to breed me
Nobody believe, until I believe me
Now I'm on the rise doin business with my guys
Visions realize, music affected lives
A gift from the skies, to be recognize
I'm keeping my eyes on the people, that's the prize
This is street ra-dio, for unsung heroes
Ridin in they regal, tryin to stay legal
My daughter found Nemo, I found the new primo
Yeah you know how we do, we do it for the people
From Englewood to a single hood in Botswana
I see the I in We my nigga, yours is my drama
Standin in front of the judge with no honor
Barack stick, knight the people like Obama
The karma of the streets is needs and takes
Sometimes we find peace in beats and breaks
Put the bang in the back so the seats can shake
Rebel Cadillac music for the people sake
Love likes to float but it drops like a stone in my heart
'Cause as I watch you go I'm taken back to the start
We are the people
We watch as things go
We are the people
We don't take things slow
Love likes to light but it burns like a flame in my heart
'Cause as I watch this go, we're just ashes lying in the dark
We are the people
We watch as things go
We are the people
We don't take things slow
We lost the people
Watch us go
We are the people
Watch things go
We lost the people
Watch us go
We are the people
Watch things go
We lost the people
We are the people
We watch as things go
We are the people
We don't take things slow
Money means nothing
My people mean everything
Promise when I got little more money that I will never change
Plus still the same
I kept my fig on earth
And I kept my promise
I kept my people first
My friends and my family got help to make an anomy
When I was down at
Ya here to help an enemy
So I return in the favour
I passing forward
Adversity don't wanna wait for amount tours in
Face it and brace it
I promise that you could make it
Time spit with your family you should keep that secret
Is more worth then any amount of money?
So I never let the money smash that from me
People get money and them start can make money
Is the money that making world you see
I see a five years son taking out this some
Cause money ain't the world to me
I do it for the people the people the people
Cause money ain't the world to me
The people the people the people
Cause money ain't the world to me
Daddy was a garbage man
Mammy ware real hearth
Me I'm a command
And the pi on the lord
Smart smith admit it
You didn't have a million dollars
Only thing you said to me was don't key to make you stronger
Hope for beginning
Make some sweat amaze
Look for hope every Tupac and John Lennon
In rolls sit goes
What your next move
Now you have a good president what you gone do
Be a better man
Let the crip da hade
Grow spiritedly
Hip about your community
Is the love that mama was cooking
That making taste good
Is the people not the money
That makes the neighbourhood
People get money and them start can make money
Is the money that making world you see
I see a five years son taking out this some
Cause money ain't the world to me
I do it for the people the people the people
Cause money ain't the world to me
The people the people the people
Cause money ain't the world to me
You see I do it for the love
Sometimes I do it just because
But for some reason I can't explain
I didn't do for the box
See Nappy Roots is a movement
That how about the class above
Da origin of da obvious
Sell the conscious like a alibis
We struggle for down the town
Did the opposite of a largumish?
But a hard word pays off
I'm leaving proof and promise in this
Educate yourself so any fantasy's of dollars
You say you want but proof that soon you gonna make it
But make it to your credulous kiss
Is day out the future?
We are the one that damage in it
Abuse is an opportunity with revolution time in it
Don't make evidence it
His movie doesn't have a sequel
If you don't do for you and your kids did
Do it for the rest of the people
People get money and them start can make money
Is the money that making world you see
I see a five years son taking out this some
Cause money ain't the world to me
I do it for the people the people the people
Cause money ain't the world to me
The people the people the people
What makes the word "America" ring
With a sound that brightens the air?
It's people, her people,
Who have done their "own thing"
With blood, sweat and tears, and a prayer.
Louis Armstrong on a golden trumpet,
And Marian Anderson singing "The Lord's Prayer";
The savage power of Jack Dempsey,
And the quiet pride of Jesse Owens;
Merle Haggard singing "Okie from Muskogee,"
And Chet Atkins pickin' a guitar;
Bing Crosby at Christmastime,
And Charles Lindbergh crossing the Atlantic alone;
A sharecroppers's son, an immigrant boy,
A hobo who rode all the rails,
The magic guitar of an ol' country boy,
A lone eagle who pioneered trails;
Sandy Koufax staring down at a batter,
While Willie Mays chants his "Say hey!"
Maria Tallchief gliding in Swan Lake,
While Fred Astaire dances on gossamer wings;
Billy Graham bringing God to millions,
And Jonas Salk bringing hope to the world;
Mahalia Jackson closing her eyes in devotion,
And Johnny Cash singing at the White House!
What makes the word "America" ring
With a sound that brightens the air?
It's people, her people,
Who have done their "own thing"
With blood, sweat and tears, and a prayer.
Willie Shoemaker booting Swaps home,
While Eddie Arcaro wins the Triple Crown on Citation;
Arnie Palmer winning the Open,
While Eddy Arnold is winning hearts;
Tom Harmon threading the field for Michigan,
While Bob Morrison plays his heart out for Troy;
Kate Smith singing "God Bless America."
And Irving Berlin, who wrote it!
Then there are those, unheralded, whose dedication to
our country is strong and true: The builders of
America--those who make her factories hum, the loggers
of her great forests, the men who labor deep in her
mines and the man who works with his hands.
The farmer who toils from dawn to dusk, and those who
carry her bountiful yield to all the state of our
Union. The railroaders, our merchant sailors, the
airline pilots, and those modern knights of the
road...the truck drivers.
These, and others like them, have earned their rights
to walk proudly...with the knowledge that their goals
were acheived through honest toil and in the spirit of
harmony found in The People...working together...in
this great land.
What makes the word "America" ring
With a sound that brightens the air?
It's people, her people,
Who have done their "own thing"
