Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara (Gujarati: ફારોખ બલ્સારા), 5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991) was a British musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he was known for his flamboyant stage persona and powerful vocals over a four-octave range. As a songwriter, Mercury composed many hits for Queen, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "We Are the Champions". In addition to his work with Queen, he led a solo career, and also occasionally served as a producer and guest musician (piano or vocals) for other artists. He died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on 24 November 1991, only one day after publicly acknowledging he had the disease.
Mercury was a Parsi born in Zanzibar and grew up there and in India until his mid-teens. He has been referred to as "Britain's first Asian rock star". In 2002, Mercury was placed at number 58 in the BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons, in 2006, Time Asia named him one of the most influential Asian heroes of the past 60 years, and he continues to be voted one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music. In 2005, a poll organised by Blender and MTV2 saw Mercury voted the greatest male singer of all time. In 2008, Rolling Stone editors ranked him number 18 on their list of the 100 greatest singers of all time. In 2009, a Classic Rock poll saw him voted the greatest rock singer of all time.Allmusic has characterised Mercury as "one of rock's greatest all-time entertainers", who possessed "one of the greatest voices in all of music".
Daniela Mercury (born Daniela Mercuri de Almeida on July 28, 1965), is a Latin Grammy Award-winning Brazilian axé, samba-reggae and MPB singer, songwriter and record producer. Since her breakthrough, Mercury has become one of the best known Brazilian female singers, selling over 20 million albums worldwide. She is also the Brazilian female performer with most #1 hits in the country, with 14.[citation needed]
Daniela Mercuri de Almeida was born on July 28, 1965, in the Portuguese Hospital in Salvador, Bahia. Her mother is Liliana Mercuri, a social worker of Italian ancestry, and her father is António Fernando de Abreu Ferreira de Almeida, a Portuguese-born industrial mechanic. Mercury grew up in a middle class household in the Brotas neighborhood of Salvador with her four siblings: Tom, Cristiana, Vânia (who would also become a singer, billed as Vânia Abreu), and Marcos. A trouble-maker as a child, Mercury was nicknamed "drip-fire". She attended both the Ana Néri School and the Colégio Baiano.
She is trapped inside a month of gray
And they take a little every day
She is a victim of her own responses
Shackled to a heart that wants to settle
And then runs away
It's a sin to be fading endlessly
Yeah, but she's all right with me
She is leaving on a walkaway
She is leaving me in disarray
In the absence of a place to be
She stands there looking back at me
Hesitates, and then turns away
She'll change so suddenly
She's just like mercury
Yeah, but she's all right with me
Keep some sorrow in your hearts and minds
For the things that die before their time
For the restlessly abandoned homes
The tired and weary rambler's bones
And stay beside me where I lie
She's entwined in me
Crazy as can be
Daedalus, your child is falling
And the Labyrinth is calling
Renegade heaps, humanity abandoned
Bower of the vowels, you lit them and fanned them
Mercury, the courier, celestial messenger
Bed with Dawn, your bride
Arrowhead of Diane
Pierce the mind of a man
reborn
in need of energy
reform to bring on anarchy
can't you see
tou must be
return of the forgetten race
tonight there is no time to waste
you must be
can't you see
vital demon
spirit of zoth
toxic vapor
leader of souls
you will be
you will see
anark
transmute
become the moon
zoth is free
mercury
zoth is free
anarchy
anark
conclude
reform
renew
return
I am the opposite of you
You battle your mean spirit
I'm suffering through my own
I don't know what that's like
I honestly don't know what that's like
You answer to no one
We quit making out to attend this meeting
With old ladies on tremendous amounts of coke
And reeling, I hear my bad voice call
My wayward brain reels
My easily distracted brain reels
Head full of
Climbing mercury
Climbing mercury
Climbing mercury
Climbing mercury
We park in the shade
I am a complement to you
I know what that's like
And somehow equate that with dealing
I hope I don't stomp on your heart
Believe me, I know what that's like
Climbing mercury
Head full of
Climbing mercury
Climbing mercury
Leave for the country let the day begin
I carry my share of original sin
I'm writing you a letter from a telephone
Sign it messenger man in the great unknown
And I wanna be like Mercury
With the wind blowin' through my hair
Swim up the river to the cedar trees
Follow the sun and catch a nice cool breeze
Bicycle trail only runs so far
This is a place you can't get by car
And I wanna be like Mercury
With the wind blowin' through my hair
Walk through the woods on a moonlit night
I carry a compass and a small flashlight
Deliver my message in a mason jar
Planting my seeds they're growing star to star
And I wanna be like Mercury
With the wind blowin' through my hair
I lay all my songs at Johnny Mathis' feet
I said, "Johnny tell me
Can you tell me how to live?
All my hopes are unraveling and I just lost my lease
On my house without love, doors, or windows
Without peace."
And with a wave of his jewel-encrusted hand
Across the glittering Las Vegas scene he said,
"You gotta learn how to disappear in the silk and amphetamine."
Johnny looked at my songs and he said,
"Well at first guess, never in my life
Have I ever seen such a mess.
Why do you say everything as if you were a thief?
Like what you've stolen has no value
Like what you preach is far from belief?"
And with a wave of his red white and blue hand
Across the glittering Hollywood scene he said,
"You gotta learn how to disappear in the silk and amphetamine."
Johnny looked at my old collection of punk rock posters
Anonymous scenes of disaffection choas and torture
And he said, "You were on the right track
But you're a lamb jumping for the knife."
He said, "A real showman knows how
to disappear in the spotlight."
Leave for the country let the day begin
I carry my share of original sin
I'm writing you a letter from a telephone
Sign it messenger man in the great unknown
And I wanna be like Mercury
With the wind blowin' through my hair

Mercury
I see visions of galaxies
Where you are is where I'll be someday.
And you puzzle me
Am I made of you?
Are you made of me?
Cause I'm so confused
Mercury.
How you gaze into me
With your vast display of constancy
You enchant me, mercury.
I have found something in your eyes
That you have found in mine, mercury
We don't have time, mercury.
Everyone has their day
But I pray
Our worlds collide
And form strength tonight
Mercury.
Mercury
I see visions of galaxies
Where you are is where I'll be someday.
Just another piece of history

This is not the time, the time to start a new love
This is not the time, the time to sign a lease
Try not to worry about what's forgotten
Try not to worry about what's been missed
Scars on my shins and scars on my knuckles
Today I woke up in a basketball court
John Joe's in Sydney and he ain't returning
I'm sitting in Soho trying to stay drunk
In any bar in the world
From Silver lake to Williamsburg
You could pick another stranger
And fall in love

Try not to worry about what's been missed
Bleeding gums and veins protruding
You're starting to hate all of your clothes
The Mayor's in LA and she ain't returning
I'm sleeping with people I don't even like
In any part of the world
From Silver Lake to Williamsburg
You can pick another stranger

When I saw you last night I wanted to say
Run away with me, away from the cynics
That this could be the start of something truly real
But all that I could say was 'Hey'
Was 'Hey', was 'Hey', was 'Hey'

The air is so cold tonight
Here, let me put my arm around you
I've never seen you looking quite
So winsome
It feels like I'm sixteen again
Secret touches when no-body sees
And I don't even like champagne
But I'll drink some
Your skin is so cold to touch
Well, you know, you'd be a whole lot warmer in my bed
Oh, have I just said too much?
Well, don't listen!
Explanations are not required
Just two bottles of St. Emilion
And your eyes do look very tired
But they still glisten
You're laughing at things I say
Then, suddenly, you're staring into space
I'd really like you to stay
Now I'm feeling bolder
But you're telling me little tales
And I think there are lots of things that I should know
Just keep running your fingernails
Across my shoulder
The phone's ringing at 3 a.m.
Well, if you know who it is, why don't you go?
It's because you don't want to speak to them
While I am near you
And I know where you want to be
You're in my hands but I just bet you'll slip away
You'll trickle like mercury
And I won't hear you
Tonight I'll do just what you say
Tomorrow is another day
You don't have to tell me anything
I won't make you tell me anything
Wanna go get high?
Mercury is parked outside
Wanna take me to
The parking lot of the old high school
And it's like you said
Quietly, almost elusively
Almost invisibly,
I found that I
for a moment
Had slipped away.
Ripped in two, then pasted back again,
Then crumpled up inside,
Then tossed aside
you know that
It feels so bad.
oh Mercury
oh Mercury
Happened once, then it
happened twice,
Then it happened thrice,
And now a fourth?
You know that?
Quietly, almost elusively
Almost invisibly,
I found that I
for a moment
Had slipped away.
The air is so cold tonight
Here, let me put my arm around you
I've never seen you looking quite
So winsome

Tomorrow is another day
You don't have to tell me anything
looking forward now
leaving you to fill it all in
reflecting in your pile
of damaged goods and blisterings
it's my way
it's my way
do i still enjoy
to watch it all go haywire
promise to move again
so you can return to whatever it is that you did
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's the way we all learn to divide
it's the only way out of this drought and you'll never
know why
never know why
moving closer now
towards our final goal
dissappear into blame
til we meet again thank heavens you don't see it my
when machines in your room can't survive
and all your devices stand by, you'll never know why
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
it's my way
Drink this mercury
from my open hands
for I'm the breathing shadow
that keeps us alive
This grey sky turned to black
so many times honey...
So stay with me tonight
hold my hands tonight
For I'm the smiling ghost
that binds our hearts together
Don't leave me tonight
For I have mercury that burns
Hold these hands of mine
Kiss these lips of mine
For I'm the mirror
that never lies
Stay with me tonight
Die with me tonight
The sky will turn to black
for the very last time tonight
Do I fail you
Do you scare yourself
I know you're not a saint yet
Neither am I
I guess that yime put out the flame
Now I don't ever know
The meaning of my name
How can it be over
When it hadn't begun
How can it be over
It hasn't begun
You're free to go now
Be alone in the flesh
And I won't think of you
I'll try to see myself
Should I stare into the lake
Free like mercury
The past we must forsake
How can it be over
When it hadn't begun
How can it be over
It hasn't begun
I write this song for you
As a contract for the love
And what was true or not
Won't compare to the above
I'll try and hold my head
Should I fall into the sea
Free like mercury
If only I could be
Over what hadn't begun
How can it be over
Do I fail you? Do you scare yourself? I know you¹re not a saint yet Neither am I Guess the time put out the flame Now I don¹t even know the meaning of my name
How can it be over, when it hasn¹t begun? How can it be over, it hasn¹t begun?
Free to come home now Be alone in the flesh And I won¹t think of you You don¹t want me to I try to see myself Should I step into the lake? Free like mercury The past we must forsake
How can it be over, when it hadn't begun? How could it be over, it hasn't begun?
I write this song for you As a contract for the love And what was true or not Won¹t compare to thee ever I try to hold my hand Should I fall into the sea? Free, like mercury Only I could be Over, what hadn't begun? How can it be over? It hasn¹t begun!
[Verse 1:]
No(no more)No(no more) I've tried to give it all I got been through it all I've seen it all when will this disaster stop and I won't wait no I won't wait I'm tired of this ugly view need to get away got to get away I've got to search for something new (ooh another place) that I never discovered before (like outer space)as soon as I walk out that door
[Chorus:]
I'm going to mercury faster than the speed of light I'm going to mercury think I'm starting a new life and I know you won't stop just because you can't stop me there's nothing that can block where I gotta go (I'm going to mercury) woahhh woahhh I I'm going to mercury yeaaah
[Verse 2:]
No(it won't change)No(it won't change)your pride won't let you see us through but you promised empty promises you never fix the things you should and it's broken heart can't let you break my heart it's best to sooner set this loose need to fly away need to fly away as far as I can get from you (ooh another place) that I never discovered before(like outer space) as soon as I walk out that door
[Chorus:]
I'm going to mercury faster than the speed of light I'm going to mercury I think I'm starting a new life and I know you won't stop me just because you can't stop me there's nothing that can block where I gotta go I'm going to mercury woaah woahhi I'm going to mecury yeaah
[Bridge:]
I've been waiting patiently for my spaceship to come for me where all is meant to be I need a place that can comfort me yeah beyond the clouds beyond your smile cause I can see right through you now (and it feels so real) that's why I came to mercury yeah yeaaah
[Chorus:]
First in a long line, fading away
Unable to see it thru
My lungs may be bleeding
No pain I am feeling so I
Breath in mercury
Breed decay
Breath in mercury
Decay
Erupt like a pinto, flaming for days
You're burning me, burning me to
Breath in mercury
Breed decay
Breath in mercury
[Verse 1:]
I always knew I wanted you
But now it's something different
Cause now I know I need you
(Need you)
So if I die before I wake
God will know who had my soul to take
It was always you
(Always you)
[Chorus:]
Can we stay like this forever
On fire, goin nowhere
Baby I'm burnin' up
Like the sunrise on mercury
[Verse 2:]
There ain't nowhere left to go but up
See I ain't gonna crash this
See what we have is magic
(So magic)
And I ain't gonna give you up
Baby we'll keep on building this love
Let's stay together
[Chorus:]
Can we stay like this forever
On fire, goin nowhere
Baby I'm burnin' up
Like the sunrise on mercury
[Bridge:]
(Oh oh oh oh oh)
See it's to late to turn back now
I'll be the last one standing there
Chorus:
mercury,
i believe your ocean is full of rippling,
mercury,
you don’t see the waves are the same between you and me,
the moon pulls the same way on our strings,
believe my instinct to untie you wings,
mercury.
i see the thunderstorm in your eyes,
you see my purple-orange sunset sky,
i know your confidence is hesitant,
i got a feeling from your hand,
i think i understand.
chorus
i see the tidal wave deep inside,
i know your hearts a slave to your mind,
i know you better than anyone,
i see the rocky ground ahead,
don’t go the easy route instead.
quick as a lightning bolt,
you can turn from warm to cold,
many stories still untold,
unknown.
Time fades away
I have to get out of my dreams
Hope you understand,
that dreams are made of sand
I will have to find out, my way.
If I try to find
If I try to see me without you
If I understand, how you flew away
I could try to find out, my way
If I could understand…
If I try to find… If I try to see… If I understand…
I wake up, another morning
I fall down in another day
Somehow I wonder now
Is your door still open?
I wake up, another morning,
I fall down in another dream
I wake up and fall down anyway
I wake up and fall down, anyway.
I wake up, another morning
I fall down in another day
Somehow I wonder now
Is your door still open?
I wake up, another morning,
I fall down in another dream
I wake up and fall down anyway
I wake up and fall down, anyway.
If I try to find
If I try to see me without you
If I understand how you flew away
I could try to find out, my way
Don't fall away to fate
Waiting on an avatar
You're stuck from divining your future
Any way the cards fall
No, that's not the only way; the needles change.
If you fate your world unwritten pages turn
To an ending that you did not write
That's not the only way.
G-U-R-U're own
Don't sell your trust for Avalon
Still stuck from divining your future
Any way the runes fall
No, that's not the only way; the needles change.
Don't you know it's just extensions of yourself
Showing you which way you're facing now
You make the needles change
There she goes. She's flying off to know where
Leaving all she has unguarded and confused.
And as she lays your reading down...
I hear that tragic chorus now
You hear them singing?
Refraining your whole life in the round
So what
So what
You won't abide, you can't confide in your riddle no -
If you would just stay in the moment
Do you suppose when she goes off to know where
Leaving everything to happen on its own.
And as she lays your tarot down...
I hear that tragic chorus now
You hear them singing?
Refraining your whole life in the round
So what
So what
You won't abide, you can't confide in your riddle no -
If you would just stay in the moment
So where's that tragic chorus now?
I heard them singing
Just pin that tragic hero to the ground
So what
So what
If you decide you're controlling the rhythm
If you would just stay in the moment
