Dr. Martín von Hildebrand - ethnologist, visionary and leader in efforts to secure indigenous territorial rights and protect the Amazon tropical forest. On March 26, 2009 he received the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship in honor of his work with Fundacion Gaia Amazonas.
Hildebrand is former Head of Indigenous Affairs and an activist for indigenous rights, cultural and ecological diversity in Colombia. He has led efforts in both government and non-government sectors, which have resulted in more than 246,000 square kilometres of Colombian Amazon territory being officially handed back to its rightful owners, the local indigenous inhabitants. Local governance is also being achieved and state policy of decentralisation enables indigenous organisations to manage their own education, health and other programs. Hildebrand established the COAMA program, winner of the Right Livelihood Award, and is founding Director of Fundación Gaia Amazonas.
Martín von Hildebrand, a nationalized Colombian, was born in New York City on 26 January 1943. He moved to Colombia in 1948 when his parents, Franz von Hildebrand (son of Dietrich von Hildebrand ) and Diedri Mulcahy, were invited to Bogotá to establish the University de los Andes. He spent his childhood living with his family in the building that is today the University’s Law Faculty.
Nicholas "Nick" Laird (Born 1975, Northern Ireland) is a novelist and poet who was born, and grew up, in Cookstown, County Tyrone. He studied at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, where he attained a first in English. He went on to work at the global law firm Allen & Overy in London for six years, before leaving to concentrate on his writing. Since 2004, he has been married to novelist Zadie Smith, whom he met while at Cambridge, and as of 2009, they have a daughter, Katherine.He participated in the Bush Theatre's 2011 project Sixty Six, with a piece he wrote based upon a chapter of the King James Bible
In a January 2006 appearance on The Leonard Lopate Show, Laird explained how travelling out of Northern Ireland for an education in Cambridge had expanded his horizons and opened him up to opportunities that he believes would have otherwise been closed to him: "I met a Jewish person for the first time. I met a black person for the first time." He also described the freedom that moving away from Northern Ireland gave him with respect to adopting a new, or broader, identity. "It does mean freedom in a way to reinvent."

He is the founder, president & CEO of the Puplava Financial Services (PFS) Inc. group, and Puplava Securities Inc.. He is also chief author and host for the Financial Sense Newshour. His companies manage $375 million for more than 800 clients (as of December 31, 2007). Puplava was raised in Arizona by Czechoslovakian immigrant parents. He grew up in a family of 10 children. His mother didn’t work, his father was a cabinet maker who also accumulated a portfolio of real estate.
Puplava graduated cum laude in History and Economics from Arizona State University. He then went on to graduate summa cum laude with a Master's Degree in Finance and Accounting from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird).

Schiff is CEO and chief global strategist of Euro Pacific Capital Inc., a broker-dealer based in Westport, Connecticut and CEO of Euro Pacific Precious Metals, LLC, a gold and silver dealer based in New York City.
Schiff frequently appears as a guest on financial television and is often quoted in major financial publications. He is host of The Peter Schiff Show, a radio show broadcast on terrestrial and internet radio. He is a frequent guest on internet radio as well as the host of the former podcast Wall Street Unspun. In 2010 Schiff ran as a candidate in the Republican primary for the United States Senate seat from Connecticut.
Schiff is known for his bearish views on the dollar and dollar denominated assets, while bullish on investment in tangible assets as well as foreign stocks and currencies.
Peter Schiff was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. His father, Irwin Schiff, is a prominent figure in the U.S. tax protester movement, currently serving a 13-year sentence for tax evasion. Peter Schiff attended Beverly Hills High School in California, and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in finance and accounting.
