Herbert "Herb" Alpert (born March 31, 1935) is an American musician most associated with the group variously known as Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, or TJB. He is also a recording industry executive — he is the "A" of A&M Records (a recording label he and business partner Jerry Moss founded and eventually sold to Polygram). The multi-talented Alpert has also created abstract expressionist paintings and sculpture over two decades, which are on occasion publicly exhibited; and he and his wife are substantial US philanthropists through the operation of the Herb Alpert Foundation.
Alpert's musical accomplishments include five number one hits, 28 albums on the Billboard charts, eight Grammy Awards, fourteen Platinum albums and fifteen Gold albums. As of 1996, Alpert had sold 72 million albums worldwide. Alpert is the only recording artist to hit #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop chart as both an instrumentalist ("Rise", 1979) and vocalist (" This Guy's in Love With You", 1968).
Samantha James is an American dance musician from Los Angeles. She released her debut album, Rise, in 2007 on Om Records, which features production work by Sebastian Arocha Morton (aka ROCAsound). The title track from the album was released as a single and has reached #1 on the US Billboard Dance charts. Because of that, her debut album Rise ended up in the ”iTunes Top 100 Best Selling Dance Album.” Samantha James's music frequently appears in makeup artist (and personal friend) Michelle Phan's videos.[citation needed]
Being a granddaughter of David Rose, Samantha grew up with different types of music. During her teens, she became heavily involved in the underground dance scene in LA. At the age of 13, Samantha's mother Melanie Lee Rose died of breast cancer after an 8-year long battle with the disease. And so after 8 years of working on her music she met Sebastian Arocha Morton (Sting, Vikter Duplaix, Fischerspooner). When she met Sebastian she was determined to be different than other artists. After a while Samantha and Sebastian came up with a mix of soulful and electronic music and continued on that path.

His mother soon remarried a man named Peter Mueller, an attorney, and Vedder was raised believing that Mueller was his biological father. His adopted name became Edward Mueller. While living in Evanston, Vedder's family fostered seven younger children in a group home.
