Alexei Leonov, was the first man to "walk" in space on March 18, 1965. Though he was expected to become a professional artist, aviation beckoned and Leonov was soon flying jets and studying engineering. When the call came for Cosmonaut candidates in 1959, 25 year old Leonov was picked as one of the first 20 Cosmonauts. Leonov's space walk beat Astronaut Ed White's by three months. Leonov's Voskhod capsule carried two men, like Gemini, but the Soviets constructed an inflatable airlock for Leonov's spacewalk. There were tense moments when Leonov found his spacesuit too rigid to reenter the airlock. Leonov bled air out of his suit, but was barely able to return. Later, a rocket malfunction forced Leonov and his crewmate to land in mountains and deep snow, with wolves growling and scratching at Voskhod's partly open hatch. Leonov was to be the Commander of the first Soviet Moon mission, cancelled when Apollo 11 took the prize in 1969. Leonov and lunar co-pilot Valery Kubasov were then assigned to Salyut 1, the first Soviet space station. But Kubasov fell ill, and the backup crew sent to Salyut died when an air valve failed in their spacecraft as they were returning to Earth. Leonov and Kubasov were re-assigned to the Apollo-Soyuz project, the first linking of Soviet and American spacecraft in 1975. Leonov trained in Houston, learning English and impressing everyone with his quick wit, humor, and charm. General Leonov is a Renaissance man; a gifted athlete, pilot and self-taught artist. He is a highly decorated survivor of the harrowing days of the U.S.-Soviet Space Race. He has cheated death several times, in an early parachute accident, then twice aboard his Voskhod 2 spacewalk mission. Leonov would have died in place of his backup crew had not Valery Kubasov fallen ill before their Salyut-1 flight. Leonov also survived when his car skidded and plunged into a deep ice-covered lake. Leonov heroically pulled his wife and driver to safety. He survived an assasination attempt on Premier Brezhnev when their car was showered in with bullets. The driver was killed, but Leonov managed to crouch behind the seat. Leonov has always indulged in his love of art, painting everything from stoic Russian churches, Siberian snow scenes and of course, space art. As the first artist in space, Leonov often paints from actual color sketches done in space aboard his two flights. Although self-taught, his works show a polish and realism typical of a trained professional. After a joint exhibition with American space artists in Moscow, he led the Soviet space artists to the International Space Art Workshop held in Iceland the following year. Leonov's works have been displayed all over the former Soviet Union, and at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC. He has been published in several books (in Russian) and in "In The Stream of Stars: The Soviet-American Space Art Book" by Dr. William K. Hartmann. General Leonov is deputy director of Gagarin Cosmonaut Center, in charge of international and guest cosmonauts. He is also editor, designer, and cartoonist for APOGEE, the formerly supersecret cosmonaut newsletter. His wife Svetlana is a teacher, and they have two daughters, Viktoria and Oksana.

Just fun.
[NOVA SpaceNow] Destination Future Space Exploration Extraordinary Documentary HD Space exploration is the ongoing discovery and exploration of celestial structures in outer space by means of continuously evolving and growing space technology. While the study of space is carried out mainly by astronomers with telescopes, the physical exploration of space is conducted both by unmanned robotic probes and human spaceflight. While the observation of objects in space, known as astronomy, predates reliable recorded history, it was the development of large and relatively efficient rockets during the early 20th century that allowed physical space exploration to become a reality. Common rationales for exploring space include advancing scientific research, uniting different nations, ensuring the future survival of humanity and developing military and strategic advantages against other countries. Space exploration has often been used as a proxy competition for geopolitical rivalries such as the Cold War. The early era of space exploration was driven by a "Space Race" between the Soviet Union and the United States, the launch of the first man-made object to orbit the Earth, the USSR's Sputnik 1, on 4 October 1957, and the first Moon landing by the American Apollo 11 craft on 20 July 1969 are often taken as landmarks for this initial period. The Soviet space program achieved many of the first milestones, including the first living being in orbit in 1957, the first human spaceflight (Yuri Gagarin aboard Vostok 1) in 1961, the first spacewalk (by Aleksei Leonov) on 18 March 1965, the first automatic landing on another celestial body in 1966, and the launch of the first space station (Salyut 1) in 1971. After the first 20 years of exploration, focus shifted from one-off flights to renewable hardware, such as the Space Shuttle program, and from competition to cooperation as with the International Space Station (ISS). With the substantial completion of the ISS[1] following STS-133 in March 2011, plans for space exploration by the USA remain in flux. Constellation, a Bush Administration program for a return to the Moon by 2020[2] was judged inadequately funded and unrealistic by an expert review panel reporting in 2009.[3] The Obama Administration proposed a revision of Constellation in 2010 to focus on the development of the capability for crewed missions beyond low earth orbit (LEO), envisioning extending the operation of the ISS beyond 2020, transferring the development of launch vehicles for human crews from NASA to the private sector, and developing technology to enable missions to beyond LEO, such as Earth/Moon L1, the Moon, Earth/Sun L2, near-earth asteroids, and Phobos or Mars orbit.[4] As of March 2011, the US Senate and House of Representatives are still working towards a compromise NASA funding bill, which will probably terminate Constellation and fund development of a heavy lift launch vehicle (HLLV).[5] In the 2000s, the People's Republic of China initiated a successful manned spaceflight program, while the European Union, Japan, and India have also planned future manned space missions. China, Russia, Japan, and India have advocated manned missions to the Moon during the 21st century, while the European Union has advocated manned missions to both the Moon and Mars during the 21st century. From the 1990s onwards, private interests began promoting space tourism and then private space exploration of the Moon (see Google Lunar X Prize). The International Space Station, a permanent platform in space. A stepping stone to the solar system, a scientific research center. an out-of-this-world exploration of the history of long-duration life in space--from the first Soviet station to Skylab to Mir to the International Space Station. Experience what it is like to live in space, as well as the monumental obstacles engineers and astronauts overcame to make it possible. Space research has provided such consumer products as cell phones, cordless power tools and mylar food packaging. The space shuttle was initially intended to be a ferrying vehicle between the Earth and a space station to be built at a late date. Because scientists did not know if solid food was digestible in space, food for early space flights was pureed and put into toothpaste containers. The International Space Station (ISS) is a space station, or a habitable artificial satellite, in low Earth orbit. It is a modular structure whose first component was launched in 1998. Now the largest artificial body in orbit, it can often be seen with the naked eye from Earth. The ISS consists of pressurised modules, external trusses, solar arrays and other components. ISS components have been launched by American Space Shuttles as well as Russian Proton and Soyuz rockets. In 1984, the ESA was invited to participate in Space Station Freedom. After the USSR dissolved, the United States and Russia merged Mir-2 and Freedom together in 1993. The ISS serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which crew members conduct experiments in biology, human biology, physics, astronomy, meteorology and other fields. The station is suited for the testing of spacecraft systems and equipment required for missions to the Moon and Mars. The station has been continuously occupied for 14 years and 18 days, since the arrival of Expedition 1 on 2 November 2000. This is the longest continuous human presence in space, having surpassed the previous record of 9 years and 357 days held by Mir. The station is serviced by a variety of visiting spacecraft: Soyuz, Progress, the Automated Transfer Vehicle, the H-II Transfer Vehicle, Dragon, and Cygnus. It has been visited by astronauts and cosmonauts from 15 different nations. After the U.S. Space Shuttle program ended in 2011, Soyuz rockets became the only provider of transport for astronauts at the International Space Station, while Dragon became the only provider of bulk cargo-return-to-Earth services (downmass capability of Soyuz capsules is very limited). The ISS programme is a joint project among five participating space agencies: NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA, and CSA. The ownership and use of the space station is established by intergovernmental treaties and agreements. The station is divided into two sections, the Russian Orbital Segment (ROS) and the United States Orbital Segment (USOS), which is shared by many nations. The ISS maintains an orbit with an altitude of between 330 km (205 mi) and 435 km (270 mi) by means of reboost manoeuvres using the engines of the Zvezda module or visiting spacecraft. It completes 15.51 orbits per day. As of January 2014, the US-portion of the ISS was funded until 2024, and may operate until 2028. The Russian Federal Space Agency, Roskosmos (RKA) has proposed using the ISS to commission modules for a new space station, called OPSEK, before the remainder of the ISS is deorbited. The Russian ISS program head, Alexey B. Krasnov, said in July 2014 that "the Ukraine crisis is why Roscosmos has received no government approval to continue the station partnership beyond 2020." ISS is the ninth space station to be inhabited by crews, following the Soviet and later Russian Salyut, Almaz, and Mir stations, and Skylab from the US.

Orange News 2014-11-01Salyut 1 (DOS-1) (Russian: Салют-1; English translation: Salute 1) was the first space station of any kind, launched by the USSR on April 19, 1971. It was launched unmanned using a Proton-K rocket. Its first crew came later in Soyuz 10, but was unable to dock completely; its second crew launched in Soyuz 11 and remained on board for 23 days. A pressure-equalization valve in the Soyuz 11 reentry capsule opened prematurely when the crew was returning, killing all three. Following the accident, missions were temporarily suspended and the station was burned in the atmosphere purposely after a total of 6 months in orbit.
At launch, the announced purpose of Salyut was to test the elements of the systems of a space station and to conduct scientific research and experiments. The craft was described as being 20 m in length, 4 m in maximum diameter, and 99 m³ in interior space with an on-orbit dry mass of 18,425 kg. Of its several compartments, three were pressurized (100 m³ total), and two could be entered by the crew.
The Salyut program (Russian: Салю́т, IPA: [sɐˈlʲut], Salute or Fireworks) was the first space station program undertaken by the Soviet Union, which consisted of a series of nine space stations launched over a period of eleven years from 1971 to 1982. Intended as a project to carry out long-term research into the problems of living in space and a variety of astronomical, biological and Earth-resources experiments, the program allowed space station technology to evolve from the engineering development stage to long-term research outposts in space. Ultimately, experience gained from the Salyut stations went on to pave the way for multimodular space stations such as Mir and the International Space Station, with each of those stations possessing a Salyut-derived core module at its heart.
The program consisted of a series of six scientific research stations and three military reconnaissance stations, the latter being launched as part of the highly secretive Almaz program. Salyut broke several spaceflight records, including several mission duration records, the first ever orbital handover of a space station from one crew to another, and various spacewalk records. By the time the program concluded, in 1991, it had seen space station technology evolve from basic, single-docking port stations to complex, multi-ported orbital outposts with impressive scientific capabilities, whose technological legacy continues to the present day.

not to the intellectual thesis
they say we believe in a fools faith
cause kids can grasp it
and salvation is granted, to those who

I am souled out, my mind is made up (x4)
Who can separate us from the love Jesus
Not death, nor life
Jesus paid the price, now I'm free from sin
I am souled out, my mind is made up (x2)
I've come through the fire, I've come through the rain
But God, He never left my side
He's my comfort through all hurt and pain
I am souled out (x 6)
[invert harmony up]
I am souled out (x 6)
My heart is fixed, my mind's made up
No room, no vacancies, I'm all filled up
His Spirit lives in me
- and that's the reason - I'm Souled Out!
My heart is fixed, my mind's made up
No room, no vacancies, I'm all filled up
His Spirit lives in me
- and that's the reason - I'm Souled Out!
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes
My heart is fixed, my mind's made up
No room, no vacancies, I'm all filled up
His Spirit lives in me
Sold out, do, do you wanna it
On a magazine cover?
Take it, it's my body
Take it, I want money
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
Wanna be a star
Watch me go nowhere
Sucking on his dick
Fuck it, I want money
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
I see the way you look at girls
You think that I don't know it
I know what you want from me
I know what you want from me
Sold out, do, do you wanna it
On a magazine cover?
Take it, it's my body
Some days every word gets in our way
You don't make sense of what I say
And every answer begs another question why
I didn't want to
Maybe I could have changed the way it was
I could have made much more of us
And if I failed perhaps it wasn't just because
I didn't want to
Don't take it as a sign
The stars were out of line
But heaven knows
Whoever I was then
She won't be back again so let her go
But you I wouldn't change
I wouldn't change
I wouldn't change you if I could
It's understood
They got hardboard I got solid wood
Somehow if I am wont to take my time
If I dig in where I should mine
It doesn't build a case for your friends to decide
I didn't want you
Don't take it on yourself
Put your heartache on the shelf and come away
Just because you got drunk first
Doesn't mean that I don't thirst for you today
You, I wouldn't change, I wouldn't change,
I wouldn't change you if I could,
I never would
'Cause nothing ever felt so good
And you I wouldn't change
I wouldn't change
I wouldn't change you if I could
It's understood
They got hardboard I got solid wood.
Don't take it as as sign
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Don't take it on yourself,
Put your heartache on the shelf and come away
Just because got drunk first
Doesn't mean that I don't thirst for you today
You, I wouldn't change, I wouldn't change,
I wouldn't change you if I could,
I never would
'Cause nothing ever felt so good
And you I wouldn't change
I wouldn't change
I wouldn't change you if I could
It's understood
They got hardboard I got solid wood.
Hey, hey, hey
Solid wood
I got solid wood
Here comes the holiday
With all the invites to the rest home for retards
The Hollywoodesque Cabaret
And wouldn't you know it feels so automatic
And such a subtle response
I never expected to feel so dejected
And with all the spite in the world
I never wanted to be who'd have thought I'd be
Sold Out, like a miner I'm digging for gold
Sold Out, I could never believe what I was told
Let's do the Cadillac stomp
Syphilitic rumba is on my agenda
just like a novel I'd read
It's as crass as a TV commercial
Such a subtle response
I never expected to feel so dejected
With all the spite in the world
1 never wanted to be who would have thought I'd be
Sold Out, like a miner I'm digging for gold
I'm Yo Gotti!
[Chorus]
Pulled up at the show
Half a brick of blow
12 pack of goose, quarter pound of dro
This b*tch is sold out (4x)
We do it for the goons
Sellin' out the club
Fish scale tour
Ain't what you thought it was
This b*tch is sold out (4x)
[Verse 1]
This Yo Gotti
Mic check 1, 2
I love you guys (white girls)
I love you too (Yo Gotti)
We got this motherf*cker jumpin off the hinges,
Ni*gas throwing gang signs, b*tches in a frenzy.
Lined up outside they said this motherf*cker sold out,
Word on the count they said that motherf*cker showed out.
He aint had the platinum on, but girl he broke the gold out
DJ played that gangsta sh*t, the waitress brought the rolls out.
Dope boy fresh, yeah they brought some 24's out
Them hatas stayed at home, but I bet I brought their ho*s out.
HAHAHA yeah I said I brought their ho*s out
Before I leave their city man, I'm burning up their ho*s mouths.
[Chorus]
Pulled up at the show
Half a brick of blow
12 pack of goose, quarter pound of dro
This b*tch is sold out (4x)
We do it for the goons
Sellin' out the club
Fish scale tour
Ain't what you thought it was
This b*tch is sold out (4x)
[Verse 2]
50 dollar hat, hundred on the chain
Thousand dollar jeans, I come to do my thing.
50 on the wanch, twanky on the ring,
Bass hitting hard, club off the chain.
Fire marshall tripping, they want to shut us down
Laws raid the club, they try to shake us down.
Helicopter high, we ain't coming down
You ain't smokin these, this sh*t from out of town.
Goons on stage, security in the crowd
B*tches pull my shirt, plus they want my towels.
They say you cool as hell, and you ain't hollywood
I say I'm real as hell, because I come from the hood.
[Chorus]
Pulled up at the show
Half a brick of blow
12 pack of goose, quarter pound of dro
This b*tch is sold out (4x)
We do it for the goons
Sellin' out the club
Fish scale tour
Ain't what you thought it was
This b*tch is sold out (4x)
[Verse 3]
Wanna book a show, tell me when and where
A half a brick - could be a dro, I'll meet you there.
Hotel exclusive, ni*gas be playing games
With all that monkey sh*t, I'm knocking out your brains.
I'm a hood ni*ga, dog I know the game
Ni*ga want my watch, ni*ga want my chain.
Catch me in your city, walkin through the mall
And I ain't in your city, if I ain't strapped dog.
I'm a bad b*tch, I picked through them all
But I ain't f*cking nothing, if I ain't strapped dog.
Ni*ga started fighting, f*cked up the night
Yeah it's been a ball, but I gotta catch a flight.
[Chorus]
Pulled up at the show
Half a brick of blow
12 pack of goose, quarter pound of dro
This b*tch is sold out (x4)
We do it for the goons
Sellin' out the club
Fish scale tour
Ain't what you thought it was
Our minds are fed every day
The Internet feeds our needs
And we follow every single word
That has ever been told
It's time to get sick
Sicker than you ever were
Sicker than anybody else was
To stick the sickness
Into pieces of our minds
Do not be scared
Today is your day
Do not feel any pain
As this day was already sold
Sold out
We are spoon-fed with bent truth
We're taking it as if it were something new
Our minds are the subject of a global fraud
It is mindless to ignore it
Even on a day like this when you're crawling on the floor
Reaching for the phone to ring anyone who knows you anymore
It's all right to make mistakes
you're only human
Inside everybody's hiding something
Staring at the same four walls, have you tried to help yourself
The rings around your eyes they don't hide, that you need to get some rest
It's all right to make mistakes
you're only human
Inside everybody's hiding something
Take time to catch your breathe and choose your moment
Don't slide
Even at a time like this when the morning seems so far
Think that pain belongs to you but it's happened to us all
It's all right to make mistakes
you're only human
Inside everybody's hiding something
Take time to catch your breathe and choose your moment
Don't slide
You brought this on yourself
and it's high time you left it there
Lie here and rest your head
and dream of something else instead

The Bario starts two streets over
Miguel, he's a friend of mine
With brick weed built a reputation
Like dry ice in the summertime
Now all you need's an electric razor
A magic bullet and a grassy knoll
The whole world's just a little oyster
To Snow White and the Poisoned Apples
I woke up in the age of wires
I fell asleep at the dusk of man
Now I'm cold -
Fingers crossed in the Promised Land
But you won't be getting in
(You know by now)
No you won't be getting in
(You know by now)
No you won't be getting in
(You know by now)
All souled out - in heaven
The Bario starts two streets over
Monsay, she's a friend of mine
Keeps the peace like a whistle blower
Flying kites in the wintertime
Magic carpet is the transportation
Went to the moon in a soda can
Not all my boys believe in science
Stretching truth in the Promised Land
But you won't be getting in
(You know by now)
No you won't be getting in
No you won't be getting in
(You know by now)
It's souled out - in heaven
You know by now
You know by now
You know by now
That you won't be getting in

But I wouldn't change a thing
I don't get what you're about
Coz you are
So sold out
You're just one blank empty page
Now you've got...
No way out
Walked yourself into a cage
It's individuality
When you work it out get back to me
So sold out, you're all the same, all the same
This shallow world we live in
Is hollow to the core
I'm in your face, I'm out of place
Or maybe I am bored
Throw another punch at me
And I'll take it on the chin
I'll flaunt the bruises you deal out
Floating on an egotrip
You'll lose your grip real soon
Karma has a funny way
Of coming back to you
Look at me I'm growing old
Standing out in the cold
I used to be a member of society
And now I'm all alone.
Look at me I'm growing poor
Since I am old, I serve no more,
Me, I had a radical mentality!
Sold out and now I'm sleeping on the floor.
I fucked up!
Why slave for a system that treats you like one?
I sold out!
I remember my youth,
I spoke out for the truth,
You don't see but I used to see equality,
And now I'm no use.
My mistake to sell out,
And it makes me wanna shout.
Me, huh? And my radical mentality,
Attitude, that's what it's all about.
I fucked up!
Why slave for a system that treats you like one?
I sold out!
Oh man, I've gotta go through with this again
What was that? Life, it's hit me in the face again man,
When am I gonna be free, gonna be free of this society?
Gotta get out, be free, get real, and recover all of
the lost dignity,
Cuz oh so you say, that I won't have it my way,
I know it's not easy, but I will be able, you will see.
You people just don't know the strength of my
capabilities.
It's taken too much time to wake up and find insanity.
To know that it was wrong, I stand up and find things
funny now.
Too much time has already passed.
It's time to get the hemorroids out your ass.
I fucked up!
Why do you have hemorroids up your ass?
Carnal things don't amount to nothing
Won't look back, my hands to the plow
And I'm running
For the life of me I can't figure it out
Why you wanna be half-stepping?
Why don't you wanna sell out?
CHORUS
i'm sold out
sold out for jesus
i'm sold out
sold out for jesus
I can count it all joy
Wheh I'm facing fiery tribulations
My God has given me all of the power
To overcome temptation
The Bible says faith with works is dead (so dead)
Just like Nehemiah told Sandbalat
These are the words he said
CHORUS
i'm sold out
sold out for jesus
i'm sold out
sold out for jesus
i'm not comin off the wall, no
iv'e got too much work to do
i'm not comin off the wall, no
until my labor's through
CHORUS
i'm sold out
sold out for jesus
i'm sold out
This form of jealousy is growing childish.
It's annoying and I'm getting tired of it.
You forgot the way to be yourself
and now your telling me I'm trying to be someone else.
So what if we lost our style.
We're trying to make it worth our while.
We're not doing this to prove anything
watch the ice on my necklace bling.
We're in it for the money,
all the groupie honeys.
We want your life so we sold out.
We wanted to be famous with what god gave us.
We sold our souls to the devil last night
and wrote this song (wrote this song).
We sold out (we sold out).
You know we wont make it anyway.
She said, 'That's Too Bad," And,"We're Sorry.'
So what? You say what you wanna say.
('Hey you guys suck' 'sell outs')
So what if we lost our style.
We're trying to make it worth our while.
We're not doing this to prove anything.
Check the sound, yeah, we hold it down.
We're in it for the money,
all the groupie honeys.
We want your life so we sold out.
We wanted to be famous with what god gave us.
We sold our souls to the devil last night
and wrote this song (wrote this song).
We sold out (we sold out).
We wont be around too long.
We're just a fad.
We don't care attentions what we never had.
I sit here and watch the bills come rollin in.
One more time for all the kids
We're in it for the money,
all the groupie honeys.
We want your life so we sold out.
We wanted to be famous with what god gave us,
but we sold our souls to the devil last night.
We're in it for the money,
all the groupie honeys.
We want your life so we sold out.
We wanted to be famous with what god gave us.
We sold our souls to the devil last night
and wrote this song (wrote this song).
Pack your bags and make your way
Block the memories you’ve made
Now’s your chance so don’t delay
Let your blessings waste away
Sold Out
Weight the options in your mind
Count your losses over time
Multiply the benefits you’ll gain
Forget about the price you paid
Sold Out
Once you’re on the other side
You’ll see the wealth you left behind
Well my friends are gone and my hair is gray
I ache in the places where I used to play
And I'm crazy for love but I'm not coming on
I'm just paying my rent every day in the tower of song
I said to Hank Williams, "How lonely does it get?"
Hank Williams hasn't answered yet
But I hear him coughing all night long
Oh, a hundred floors above me in the tower of song
I was born like this, I had no choice
I was born with the gift of a golden voice
And twenty-seven angels from the great beyond
They tied me to this table right here in the tower of song
So you can stick your little pins in that voodoo doll
I'm very sorry, baby, doesn't look like me at all
I'm standing by the window where the light is strong
Ah they don't let a woman kill you not in the tower of song
Now you can say that I've grown bitter but of this you may be sure
The rich have got their channels in the bedrooms of the poor
And there's a mighty judgment coming, but I may be wrong
You see, you hear these funny voices in the tower of song
I see you standing on the other side
I don't know how the river got so wide
I loved you baby, way back when
And all the bridges are burning that we might have crossed
But I feel so close to everything that we lost
We'll never, we'll never have to lose it again
Now I bid you farewell, I don't know when I'll be back
They're moving us tomorrow to that tower down the track
But you'll be hearing from me baby, long after I'm gone
I'll be speaking to you sweetly from a window in the tower of song
Yeah, my friends are gone and my head is gray
I ache in the places where I used to play
And I'm crazy for love but I'm not coming on
