FROM SINNER TO SAINT: Leon Henry has signed for the Wellington Saints after putting his legal woes behind him.

The Wellington Saints continue to go back to the future with the signing of former Tall Black Leon Henry for the 2015 National Basketball League season.

Saints coach Pero Cameron - back at the helm after a one-year stint with the Waikato Pistons - worked with Henry during his previous stay in Wellington and is backing himself to again untap the potential of the talented and athletic forward.

Henry is currently plying his trade with the Townsville Crocodiles in the Australian NBL and was excellent in their upset home win over the New Zealand Breakers on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old has been able to bounce back from a tumultuous 2014 in which he was found guilty of assault during a night out in New Plymouth while playing for the Southland Sharks.

Saints owner and chief executive Nick Mills quoted Oscar Wilde when quizzed about Henry's previous troubles.

"Every Saint has a past and every sinner has a future," Mills said.

"Leon is part of the Saints family and he has a very good relationship with Pero. We are confident he will again get the best out of Leon, who is in a good space at the moment."

The Saints now have three confirmed signings for their 2015 title defence, with Henry joining point guard Lindsay Tait and swingman Dion Prewster.

Co-captain Damien Ekenasio is yet to put pen to paper but has verbally committed to a return.

The Saints also have an offer in front of veteran Tall Blacks forward Casey Frank, who played for Waikato under Cameron last year.

The Auckland-based Frank is also being courted by the Jeff Green-coached Super City Rangers but he is yet to decide whether he will play on in 2015.

The Gold Coast-based Cameron will arrive in Wellington in late February, giving him more than a month to get to work in pre-season ahead of the Saints' season opener in early April.
